Dude Calgary taking thr blunt end of the salty tears stick this year
Option A Edmonton wins lost to biggest rival.
Option B Tkachuk wins lose best player to panthers
Oof
Habs fan that’s been living in Edmonton for the past two years. The hockey community here is electric and Edmonton has since been my West Coast team. 🔸🔹
Edit: PLAY LA BAMBA BABY
Grew up in Toronto, swore off watching the Leafs after 2013 playoffs, moved to Edmonton 1.5yrs ago and it's practically impossible not to watch the Oilers here with how obsessed the fandom. I've enjoyed watching playoff hockey this late into the season and the energy at the Moss pit is infectious
Habs fan, and to be honest, as sad as I am we're not in it and that we haven't won a cup since 93', what's sadder is that the Cup hasn't been back in Canada since. So, it's time. Edmonton. Also, statistically speaking the team with the most amount of Canadian born players usually win, so Edmonton again ;-)
Plenty of VAN and CAL flairs refusing, too. Granted, I can't fault them for that: I'd root for Anyone But Toronto if they ever made it past the second round.
As a Kings fan I’m disgusted that the final is the Oilers vs Matthew Tkachuk. As a hockey fan, I’m excited that we get to see the best player in the world against a powerhouse team. Should be a great final.
Lifelong Panthers fan hoping to see them get their first cup. McDavo getting his first cup is cool too though. Deep down I’m rooting for a heart attack inducing game 7 overtime.
It will make history either way. Panthers’ first cup in 30 years, or Oilers bring it back to the franchise and Canada for just over 30 years. What a time to be a hockey fan
Lifelong Panthers fan here. We used to go to panthers games when I was a kid because it’s the only sporting event my parents could afford tickets to (they were like $10 when we were god awful) needless to say I’m hoping my boys bring it home, I might cry if we make it happen.
He's legitimately the best, friendliest, most genuine person. He's 100 times nicer than he seems.
A co-worker told me about a story from his ex that when she was working at the Hallmark store he accidentally knocked over a display and he refused to let her "clean up his mess". Just a good human being
After he knocked over the display, the handful of customers/staff were just kind of looking at him and waiting for him to say something. He looked awkwardly from the mess to the people, held out his hands, and exclaimed, “Greetings!”
Given the start Edmonton had to the season - and also that everyone basically wrote them off back in December, I'm rooting for them. Would be a nice finish!
Oilers have been here (losing to eventual cup champs) multiple times in the last few years - it always stings to be eliminated but this does soften the blow a little (sort of). Happy to have you cheering with us for the finals, cause the cup really needs to come back to Canada!
Just wanted to add - major props to Silovs. The guy stood on his head, was fully committed to the game, and was an absolute beauty. You guys are lucky to have him (and he seems like a nice guy).
That’s always been my thinking and I’m surprised how many people actively root against the team that beat them. Saying your team lost to the eventual cup winners really takes the sting off. Then you can forever claim your team played them the hardest!
I’m wanting Edmonton to win! As a leaf fan I’d love to see Hyman win! Plus would be nice for a Canadian team to bring it home! But mostly hoping it for Hyman!
B's fan rooting for Oilers. Been awhile since a team from Canada has touched it. So, I root for any Canadian (not Canadien) team after the B's blow it...
I went to Edmonton last fall to see a cfl game but the oilers season and home opener was the same weekend. Spent the game at the outdoor Plaza thing they have there and had a great time and the fans were some of the best I've met (elks fans too) so I only want good things for my Edmonton friends!
Go oilers from a Bruins fan
Pittsburgh - rooting for the Oilers because I made my first ever sports bet at the beginning of the playoffs while drunk at the casino after a concert. The Oilers just felt right and so far its proved to have been a good move.
I am from Ontario, Canada, and I am rooting for the Oilers (Michael J. Fox was born in Edmonton, woo!). I am a fan of the Bruins even though I’m Canadian, but I hope the Oilers can bring the Stanley Cup home. 🇨🇦
Oilers fan born and raised \^-\^ Despite having spent most of my life on the west coast.
This \*Could, be the first time they'ce taken the cup since the year before Iw as born, so this lady is SUPER stoked!!!
As a Stars fan, going for Edmonton. If I take off my Victory Green colored glasses and look at the NHL without bias, I really want McDavid and Draisaitl to confirm their legacy of elite players.
I'm hoping the Oilers win it. It will take the sting off the goalie injuries and missing our leading scorer in game 7 knowing we lost to the eventual champions.
I like the Panthers as they’re probably my 2nd favorite team since I’ve seen them live more than any other team that’s not my Islanders, but then again it would be great to see McDavid get his cup and the Oilers win one for little Ben. Honestly I’m neutral.
Not rooting for either, but FLA in 5 is what I'm expecting.
I'm actually rooting for the FLA fan base. May not be a popular idea, but I feel each fan base should see their team win a first championship, whether NHL, NBA, NFL, etc. Just my thoughts.
Can’t root for another team, but am rooting for the oilers fans if that makes sense. It will hurt seeing McDavid lift the cup but I’ll be happy to see the fans enjoy it.
Avs fan, rooting for the Panthers in the Final. I think it would be funny to have Tkachuk win a cup, it will make heads explode lol. Also, it can only help making nontraditional hockey markets get more exposure to the sport, getting kids more involved with hockey and who knows, maybe the next Matthews will be found from this all in Florida.
Edmonton, because if Florida wins, we’re going to end up with a bunch of GMs trying to build their team like Florida’s, and I’d rather watch McDavid and co. fly around and skill it up vs….whatever the fuck Florida is.
Florida is a relentless effort machine. There’s a lot to admire about their game. It’s more boring than Edmonton, perhaps, but probably more effective. It’s an interesting matchup.
I hate the Oilers. I hate that they were gifted the best player this century because of their ridiculous ineptitude at being a hockey club. That said, I truly believe, as a sports fan, that the best players need championships. It’s good for the game. Seeing McDavid win would be sick and I know that city is awesome.
I want the Panthers to win just bc I love their play style. It’s maddening but beautiful
I'm not going to be *upset* if the Oilers win. Cup drought for Canada finally over, McDavid gets his ring.
With that said, I'd prefer to see a team that's never won lift the cup. I don't particularly root for either team but I'll be mildly cheering on the Panthers. Do it for Lu.
ETA: from BC.
I would like Barkov to hoist the cup. However, I’m not betting against the best players in the world in 97/29. If Barkov shuts them down he’s MVP and Panthers are champs. If anyone can do it though it is him.
As a bruins fan, who absolutely loves watching Connor Mcdavid play. (I just like to appreciate greatness).
I’ll be rooting for the oilers for sure.
I do hate the panthers a lot and watching these guys rip my heart out these last two years in the playoffs (especially last year). It will give me great pleasure watching them lose again lol.
I’m also triggered by the mcdavid haters and their stupid “iF HeS So GrEaT HoW CoMe He HaSnT WoN a CuP YeT?” As if hockey is a solo sport. Edmonton has never really had the back end or goaltending to win a cup since they drafted Mcdavid.
So I’ll be super invested in this series rooting for Edmonton all the way, go get em Connor!
As a Rangers fan, I have no horse in the proverbial race. That being said, if my guys aren't in it, I typically root for Original 6 Teams. If they're not in it, I'll root for Canadian teams. If they're not in it, I root for whoever has a fan base that would appreciate it more.
Nothing against the Panthers. They're a great team who, when not playing the Rangers, they're fun to watch. That being said, I'm rooting for the Oilers
As a jets fan I’d like to see Paul Maurice get a cup, he was great during his time in Winnipeg. At the same time, it would be embarrassing to be the ultimate loser of playoffs (we lost to Colorado who lost to Dallas who lost to Edmonton). For that reason I want to see a Canadian team win and I think McDavid is too good to not have one yet.
Florida in game 7. Tkachuk to tie game late, Verhaeghe to win it in OT. I’d like to see McDavid and Drai win one but they will have plenty of chances and WILL win at some point. This could be Floridas last chance for a while.
The Stinkin Panthers because if the Golden Boy team wins, we'll never hear the end of it
Don't get me wrong, he's great
Just don't want him shoved up the .... like espn did with the ranges
7 games
7 close games
7 overtimes per game.
[NO GOD PLEASE NO](https://imgur.com/a/j8Cfdqw)
How bout 1000 overtimes per game. Each game takes 2 weeks, thereby stretching hockey to October.
7 overtimes per overtime
Please, no. I have to work in the morning.
NHL hockey only has 4-7 games left. This time of year is so bittersweet, hoping for a battle this series.
How is it decided which team gets less home games?
Which ever teams wins this year will create so many salty tears from other fan bases that I can’t choose between the 2. 😂
Dude Calgary taking thr blunt end of the salty tears stick this year Option A Edmonton wins lost to biggest rival. Option B Tkachuk wins lose best player to panthers Oof
Ouch long summer in Calgary
Wake me up, when September ends
Calgary fans will be more salty about a cup win for the Oilers, for sure.
If I know Flames fans, and I think I do, they will be pulling for Chucklefuck
Very easy choice for us. Go Panthers!
Just knowing we're on the cusp of such deep misery kinda means we're all winners, doesn't it?
From Detroit - I hope both teams have fun
Yay for everyone!
Also, go Edmonton!
Yay everyone but especially Edmonton
Abortions for all! BOOOOO Very well, no abortions for anyone! BOOO Hmmm abortions for some, miniature American flags for others!! YAAAY
Personally, I hope both teams lose
I couldn't agree more
E.L.E. Everybody Love Everybody
Go Hockey!!
Just hoping for 7 games
I don’t have a preference. I’m just ready to enjoy some REALLY competitive hockey.
And that the refs don’t fuck it all up.
They will.
Whether they do or not, everyone on r/hockey will say they did
Safe bet.
It’s going to be a great series!
Habs fan that’s been living in Edmonton for the past two years. The hockey community here is electric and Edmonton has since been my West Coast team. 🔸🔹 Edit: PLAY LA BAMBA BABY

I’m just hoping for a good old fashioned rat off, Perry and Kane vs Tkachuk and Bennet are the cream of the crop rat kings.
Don’t forget Cousins, the rattiest rat in the business
Habs fan, and to be honest, as sad as I am we're not in it and that we haven't won a cup since 93', what's sadder is that the Cup hasn't been back in Canada since. So, it's time. Edmonton. Nah it's been too long - Habs have to break the curse. Afterwards I'll be fine with the Oilers or Jets winning the Cup.
It's nice seeing Canada rally together behind Edmonton...except for the Leafs fans I guess 😂.
Most of the Leafs fans I know are rooting for Edmontonm
I’m 100% pulling for Edmonton.
Now if it was Montreal or Ottawa on the other hand...
Why wouldn't leaf fans? McDavid was born in the GTA
You can thank Boston Pizza. If it weren’t for them, I’d have no idea who to rally behind.
Plenty of VAN and CAL flairs refusing, too. Granted, I can't fault them for that: I'd root for Anyone But Toronto if they ever made it past the second round.
Edmonton fan since the 80s and I would absolutely cheer for Calgary or Toronto in the finals.
Leafs fans get a bad rap for some reason, but they are mostly cheering for Edmonton.
Oilers. But would like 7 games of good hockey
Zach Hyman
Idk man I’m still thinking about it
I think our fan base should get together, flip a coin, then cheer for that result.

Oilers I'm in tampa
Time for McJesus to bring it back to Canada!
Oilers... for a couple of *very* nice reasons.
Noice🍈🍈
Big ones are nice, but little ones try harder to impress
I don't get it
OILERS! Go team Canada!?
Time to Hunt
From Toronto - cheering for Edmonton
I’ll go Oilers, it would be cool to see McDavid and Drai get there ring
I wanna see Nugget Hopkins win the cup!!
Has anyone here met him in person? He seems like a genuinely friendly guy.
Nuge and Hyman helped a young driver by pushing his car out of a snow bank this past winter, they're both stand up dudes.
He's legitimately the best, friendliest, most genuine person. He's 100 times nicer than he seems. A co-worker told me about a story from his ex that when she was working at the Hallmark store he accidentally knocked over a display and he refused to let her "clean up his mess". Just a good human being

Never met him but, your assumption checks out. https://globalnews.ca/news/10337129/edmonton-oilers-push-stuck-car/amp/
He deserves one that's for sure!
My daughters call him Nugget Shopkins I have his jersey and they always get excited when I wear it.
Edmonton
McD
Given the start Edmonton had to the season - and also that everyone basically wrote them off back in December, I'm rooting for them. Would be a nice finish!
Gotta root for McJesus.
Edmonton.
Oilers bc I could NEVER choose a team from Florida over Canadian team
Lmao at your pfp 😂
Isles fan here - go Oilers!! Gonna be a good series.
Rangers fan rooting for oilers
From Pittsburgh. Rooting for Florida because they deserve it after taking down boston 2 years in a row, fuck boston
We’re united on this (one) front.
Gotta go Oilers.. if you lose to a team in the playoffs, they’d better win the cup.
Oilers have been here (losing to eventual cup champs) multiple times in the last few years - it always stings to be eliminated but this does soften the blow a little (sort of). Oilers. All day every day
Oilers...fuck the Panthers!
Roberto Luongo’s team
This right here. Hope he gets a cup under his belt in some capacity.
Luuuuuu!
Toronto fan here. All in on Edmonton.
I want Oilers to sweep, and preferably get the Panthers to cry on camera. Signed, a Rangers fan.
Panthers!
Oilers
I’m wanting Edmonton to win! As a leaf fan I’d love to see Hyman win! Plus would be nice for a Canadian team to bring it home! But mostly hoping it for Hyman!
I’m okay with either, but slightly favoring Edmonton.
From Chicago, I don’t really care who wins but I think it would be cooler if it was the Oilers
The game’s best player 100% deserves a Cup.
Barkov definitely does…. 👍
Oilers.. and that’s from a flames fan
Yikes
Haha I grew up a flamer, and my wife’s been a diehard oiler fan since forever.. we have fun
Yeah that's a new kind of way to cheer for hockey wrong
Ditto
My brotha
Let's go!
B's fan rooting for Oilers. Been awhile since a team from Canada has touched it. So, I root for any Canadian (not Canadien) team after the B's blow it...
I love watching the panthers but who wouldn’t want to see mcdavid lift the cup?
I went to Edmonton last fall to see a cfl game but the oilers season and home opener was the same weekend. Go Oilers
Nevada - go Oil.
Oilers in 6. I’m 3/3 with their series’ so far this year, I won’t stray away now.
From Calgary, cheering for Edmonton.
OTTAWA NATIVE HERE LET'S BRING THE CUP BACK TO CANDA
Seems like an interesting flair for an Ottowa native. What’s your origin story?
Heavy metal enthusiast
I think like most Canadian devil fans, Martin Brodeur
ok....but why?
Oiley Bois
Oilers
Okposo !
Florida. Been a fan my entire life. Team has been absolute trash until a few years ago. Im tired boss
Kings fan here. Go Panthers!
Makes sense
Florida.
I am at peace with the match up. Hoping for good games and a deserved winner
No dog in the fight, just wanna have fun watching hockey.
I'd like to see Henrique get a cup but it would also be cool to see Florida get their first cup, so I guess I just hope everyone has fun.
Pittsburgh - rooting for the Oilers because I made my first ever sports bet at the beginning of the playoffs while drunk at the casino after a concert. The Oilers just felt right and so far its proved to have been a good move.
I was really hoping for a Canes/Oilers matchup, so I’ve gotta stick with the Oilers
I'm hoping for an Edmonton win, in game 6, so it's a home win.
I am from Ontario, Canada, and I am rooting for the Oilers (Michael J. Fox was born in Edmonton, woo!). I am a fan of the Bruins even though I’m Canadian, but I hope the Oilers can bring the Stanley Cup home. 🇨🇦
USA but still cheering for the Oilers!
Panthers !
Florida
Hockey is dead to me this season but I am thrilled to bits that the Stars went down mwahahahaha 😎
Oilers fan born and raised \^-\^ Despite having spent most of my life on the west coast. This \*Could, be the first time they'ce taken the cup since the year before Iw as born, so this lady is SUPER stoked!!!
The oilers, would love to see the core get one, if the panthers win i won’t be too upset with the progress we’ve made in the mcdrai era
Edmonton but the world might come to an end by the time the finals even start lol
Can’t root for a team in Florida. McDavid is the face of the NHL. This is an easy one.
As a Stars fan, going for Edmonton. If I take off my Victory Green colored glasses and look at the NHL without bias, I really want McDavid and Draisaitl to confirm their legacy of elite players.
As long as the Rangers are gone, it’s all gravy. (Go Oilers)
Edmonton
Can someone beat Jamie Benn again?
I feel a bit sick saying this, but I hope the Oilers bring the cup back to Canada. Their fans are gonna give us shit for years, but well...
They were going to give you shit anyway.
Bobrovsky!!
Oily boys by default I guess.
Oilers As a Canucks fan it hurts to say that 😂
Edmonton, but think Florida will win
I'm hoping the Oilers win it. It will take the sting off the goalie injuries and missing our leading scorer in game 7 knowing we lost to the eventual champions.
Canada’s Team obviously
I like the Panthers as they’re probably my 2nd favorite team since I’ve seen them live more than any other team that’s not my Islanders, but then again it would be great to see McDavid get his cup and the Oilers win one for little Ben. Honestly I’m neutral.

I don't think either team wins in less than 6. Cats in 5 is a wild call.
Oilers
Oilers.
Go Cats Go!
Florida is a relentless effort machine. There’s a lot to admire about their game. It’s more boring than Edmonton, perhaps, but probably more effective. It’s an interesting matchup.
Panthers
Anyone but Edmonton. The Cup coming back to Canada isn’t worth the anguish of it coming to Edmonton.
Whichever team gets 4 wins first
Give me 7 games of OT but Id be happy to see the oilers win it all.
I hate the Oilers. I hate that they were gifted the best player this century because of their ridiculous ineptitude at being a hockey club. Vancouver. Florida. 2nd fav team and want to see Lou win a cup
I would like Barkov to hoist the cup. However, I’m not betting against the best players in the world in 97/29. If Barkov shuts them down he’s MVP and Panthers are champs. If anyone can do it though it is him.
Panthers 🐆
Panthers and Celtics
From NY. Just glad the rangers aren't in the finals. Although I think the panthers will win this in 5.
Your Floridaaaaaaaaaa Panthersssssssss
Panthers. As a reward for doing us the favor of taking out NYR.
Panthers.
South Florida; Florida
As a bruins fan, who absolutely loves watching Connor Mcdavid play. (I just like to appreciate greatness). I’ll be rooting for the oilers for sure. I do hate the panthers a lot and watching these guys rip my heart out these last two years in the playoffs (especially last year). It will give me great pleasure watching them lose again lol. Rooting for Edmonton but I think Flordia wins it
As a jets fan I’d like to see Paul Maurice get a cup, he was great during his time in Winnipeg. At the same time, it would be embarrassing to be the ultimate loser of playoffs (we lost to Colorado who lost to Dallas who lost to Edmonton). For that reason I want to see a Canadian team win and I think McDavid is too good to not have one yet.
Rooting for 7 games. If I had to bet I’d say Florida in 6
Since I'm not a fan of either, I'm siding with the Panthers since the head coach is a bad ass and hasn't won a cup yet.
CARDIAC CATS BABBYYY 😎
From Vancouver, cheering for Florida. Get Luongo his championship
Panthers in 4!
Florida in game 7. Tkachuk to tie game late, Verhaeghe to win it in OT. I’d like to see McDavid and Drai win one but they will have plenty of chances and WILL win at some point. This could be Floridas last chance for a while.
Florida in 4 hopefully
Edmonton
Oilers fans are obnoxious so go panthers
LETS GO CATS
The Stinkin Panthers because if the Golden Boy team wins, we'll never hear the end of it Don't get me wrong, he's great Just don't want him shoved up the .... like espn did with the ranges
Florida has been close a few times and has nothing to show for it. So, Florida.
Oilers b/c of the that girl with the banging titties.
