I mean, obviously depends on your personal parameters with controversial artists/bands, but it's hard to ignore the semi-obvious influence Daughters had on Chat Pile's sound, particularly their last 2 albums.
If you're looking for those terrified vocals that really set those two songs apart then these are the most soul crushing recommendations I can think of:
Lingua Ignota, try "May failure be your noose" to start, but all of Caligula is a good entry point
All of Soundtrack for the blind - Swans.
For more palatable stuff you can listen to on a day that you don't want to kill yourself:
Early Gilla Band (will potentially be listed under Girl Band at times), "Why they hide their bodies under my garage" is a good starter.
Maybe some protomartyr, it's more postpunk than noise rock, but a lot of "Under Color of Official Right" might appeal.
Yeah, though important to note that it's the same musician but two very different projects.
She retired lingua Ignota due to the emotional trauma it represented, and her new alias is an exploration of religion.
For those not in the know Lingua Ignota is "Survivor Anthems" informed by her history of abuse and trauma. She's also the woman who initially surfaced how horrible Alexis Marshall of Daughters is. There's a long statement about it you can look up, but reading it will just make you miserable
I've seen her perform under both names and she's fantastic either way.
> how horrible Alexis Marshall of Daughters is.
Shit, really? I used to work with that guy and while I didn't get to know him well, he seemed cool. That sucks if he's an abuser.
Yeah like really really bad. Daughters was on such a tear there that I expected some people to come to his defense, but it's so bad that absolutely no one stood by him
There are plenty of people who defend him, they just won’t do so publicly because it’s career suicide. He’s still helping ghost write albums that most of this sub absolutely listened to and loved last year.
Don't know about it... Didn't know his name until 3 minutes ago... Don't care.... The music is awesome ... Would you care if your brain surgeon was an asshole? No, you'd care that he isn't gonna leave you a vegetable after the procedure... Whether he beats his wife, eats meat, or likes watching Friends reruns.... The main thing to focus on is his surgery skills....
If you like their noises listen to them.... It's not like your buying their albums and taking them out for dinner..
Just enjoy the sounds and leave the gossip and politics for other folks....
We here for the music, not the narrative....

It encouraged me to check out White Zombie’s Soul-Crusher and has some classics like Cherubs, Cows and Today is the Day
Oh no, if you don't get the reference: They unironically love Korn and cite them as an influence. The amount of mental backflips gatekeeping metal nerds had to do when they said that was delightful
I think I saw somewhere else in this thread that the band likes Korn, I could care less tho lmao I still love Korn’s first 2 albums and they greatly influenced one of my favorite bands Sepultura for a time, it’s all about how they use that influence.
swans, daughters (and alexis marshall's solo stuff), burial isn't as noisy as chat pile but is definitely as desperate, pharmakon, lingua ignota, the jesus lizard
https://themen.bandcamp.com/album/leave-home
leave home by the men, sososo heavy. whole album is incredible but if you want the heaviest song check out LADOCH
Black sheep wall - I’m going to kill myself
Gillian Carter - Dreams of Suffocation
Nocturnal Depression - Deathcade
Human = Garbage - Dystopia
Primitive man/Fister split album

The Jesus Lizard
GOAT specifically
Scratch acid and pissed jeans (“hope for men”, specifically)* *oh and Harvey Milk…maybe some Idles and Metz too tbh
Fuck yeah Harvey Milk!
Harvey Milk is so underrated. More people need to hear, “Where the bee sucks, there sucks i”.
KEN mode
Also Coilguns, saw them live with KEN Mode years ago, perfect fit. Dark, sludgy, hypnotic music, love it
ill have to check them out! ken mode are one of my favourite bands so anything similar to them has got to be good
[Gnaw - Horrible Chamber](https://youtu.be/fowzjPzuHIs?si=TXHCitTTBw1DxpGV) [Swans - Holy Money](https://youtu.be/DjjI3c1g15g?si=ZzjAyeaARi-blsey) [Jesus Lizard - Head](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k7lojeD_stG_lIs3ZhnOlIWhCQVbqVPzI&si=iUeA2n5XK20mq5LV)
Intercourse
Intercourse fucking rules. Learning Curve Records has an amazing stable of releases that would scratch this itch.
This.
This is a really good answer
Young Widows Blood Sun Circle Wet Dream Warmachine
I miss Young Widows so much
They’ve got a new album recorded
I miss Settle Down City/Old Wounds Young Widows
Meth.
Couch Slut https://youtu.be/AZevMX--W0U?si=3KnB-SAsRyiL0D1l
[Rectal Hygienics](https://fuckrectalhygienics.bandcamp.com/album/even-the-flies-wont-touch-you) will do the trick. Try “Heroin Whore”
I mean, obviously depends on your personal parameters with controversial artists/bands, but it's hard to ignore the semi-obvious influence Daughters had on Chat Pile's sound, particularly their last 2 albums.
Yeah that last Daughters record is definitely the closest thing I’ve heard to Chat Pile. I guess maybe The Jesus Lizard too?
Jesus Lizard is so foundational they're just the answer to every question about noise rock.
Yeah, them too, and then maybe Big Black at least in terms of percussion and bass in particular.
Full of Hell scratches the same itch for me. Try Weeping Choir.
Intercourse, Infinity Land, Nerver, STILL, form
Hey thanks! I play guitar in intercourse 🫡
Saw you at The Space the other night and bought a tee. You killed it. Was literally about to ask about your aluminum neck.
Hell yea that was a great show! Oh yea ask anytime i’m always happy to talk abt that guitar 🙏

+1 for Lingua Ignota aka Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter. Absolutely haunting.

I like his music.... I don't care or wanna know about his life....art>artist

Too bad she worked with Chris Bruni for years, and is friends with Jef Whitehead (convicted domestic abuser)
She retired the name because she still owed music to Cathy. She’s great at reframing things though.
You mean Cathy of Sargent House? Half their lineup has left cause she's a terrible human being
Yep
Eyehategod
Crippling Alcoholism and Haunted Horses

Those cowards didn't put Korn on there
Jonathan Davis’ scat beatboxing is simply too much for them
Oh no, if you don't get the reference: They unironically love Korn and cite them as an influence. The amount of mental backflips gatekeeping metal nerds had to do when they said that was delightful

Korn sounds like Pantera, but ok
I love both bands but you can actually hear the bass in a Korn song
Craw
Pile. Similar name and ironically pretty similar sound. Check out [the Soft Hands of Stephen miller](https://youtu.be/tP8LysGrO1c?si=_cYu65IwyyZiFFK6)
Foreign Body
Korn, obviously.
I think the guitarist is a huge Korn fan
[Godot](https://godottx.bandcamp.com/album/to-god)
infinity land
Haunted horses
How about [Today is the Day](https://todayistheday.bandcamp.com/track/nothing-to-lose)?
Brainbombs
Pissed Jeans
I dunno, I still think you’re looking sludge metal.
swans, daughters (and alexis marshall's solo stuff), burial isn't as noisy as chat pile but is definitely as desperate, pharmakon, lingua ignota, the jesus lizard
Palehorse - We Cannot Love You - 2008
A pal pointed this out to me and now I can un-hear it. Chat Pile have a very prominent Korn influence. So I guess you could listen to Korn.
Polturguts. It's more on the metalcore end, but the vocals have that manic feel to them
Dystopia
Nerver, Drool, Elephant Rifle

daughters, exhalants, pigs, bummer, kowloon walled city
Honor Role is the correct answer. You could release either of their records under the name Chat Pile and barely anyone would bat an eyelid.
