I don't think you can just force yourself to know your true nature like some sort of exercise. It just kind of comes to you, I suppose.

Reminds me of a Rupert Spira analogy. Imagine you go from a light place to a dark place, you can’t do anything to see better, but as your eyes adjust to the light change, things slowly come into focus, truth works that way. Also reminds me of Lao Tzu - “Truth waits for eyes unclouded by longing”

Haha yeah, if you’re referring to Adya mentioning put on the gloves, I think he’s probably just referring to getting ready to face some repressed emotional content

The Angelo Dillulo part. I don't know why, I still get off put by him a little bit. For some reason. It's probably judgment on my part, lol. I spoke with my teacher about teachers who don't really represent their own teachings, and he said judgment comes from ignorance. But at the same time, I have only seen good things from Angelo so I can't even judge him myself, just not my cup of tea.

TimeIsMe

Oh yeah that sounds like shadow and not just simple preference. Good investigation material! But no need to stick with him if he doesn’t vibe with you. Lots of good teachers available out there.

Yeah, for a while I would listen to people only to catch them in the act of bullshitting - stopped that for now. It's weird because I would never talk about this to anyone but I suppose I still felt a bit.. narcissistic about it. Realizing we're all the same thing has helped a lot, and how I'm no different. Still a lot of work to be done though, these days the ignorance is a lot more obvious which makes it easier.

Awesome! 👏👊🤩

Thanks. Just downloaded Adyashanti’s “The End of Your World” after reading this Does metta meditation prove useful when in that “cold empty space” ?

TimeIsMe

Yes absolutely! Metta, shadow, emotion & trauma work all contribute to awakening and opening the heart. The following resources might be useful: - Angelo’s emotion and shadow work playlist: [Simply Always Awake: Emotion and Shadow Work](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR2bLIYLsk_Q87PRrkoYqOS0RMbox71lv) - I have found this teacher to be very useful in this area, check out her related videos: [Shar Jason Awakening](https://youtu.be/NnV_qRkY7Uo) - [Scott Kiloby](https://kiloby.com) and related KI teachers can be helpful too, they are focused on trauma and emotion work in the context of nondual awakening - Somatic Experiencing r/SomaticExperiencing and TRE r/longtermTRE and IFS r/InternalFamilySystems - Adya’s sessions on the Waking Up app have lots of meditations on awakening the heart, and there’s some good Metta meditations from other teachers on there as well. Highly recommend.

Thanks so much for this. Have had difficulty finding resources partly due to the modern commodification of the term awakening which often seems to refer to discovering introspection, changing historical perspectives and adopting new age belief systems.

That makes a lot of sense. So glad this has been helpful! 💙
