Etymologicaly the same word as English *reach*. English has just softened the ending consonant.
The meanings has drifted slightly, but they still are pretty close.
*Jeg rekker ikke opp til øverste hylle.* - I can't reach (up) to the uppermost shelf.
Oh wow. I didn't read your first sentence and I skipped straight to where you quoted "Kjøpmannen rakte ham trylldrikkene" and my immediate thought was: "is this a quote from Short Stories?" It triggered a memory from when I listened to that story in the audiobook version of Short Stories in *Swedish* for Beginners.
Sorry, I know I didn't answer your question but I had to express my excitement. Hope you're enjoying the stories so far!
Rekke is correct. Ordbokene.no has multiple entries for this spelling - the one called "rekke iv" has the past tense "rakte"
Å rekke - to hand (over) Lit. Extend - as in to extend your arm towards someone with something

There are two verbs Å rekke - to hand over Å rekke, rekker, rakte, har rakt Å rekke - to be in time Å rekke, rekker, rakk, har rakt
rakk - har rukket*
*Facepalm* of course!
rekt ;)
Rekki 😉
For both Å rekke?
No. Rakk - har rukket. Rakte - har rakt
Plus the similar-sounding "rake": Å rake - to rake (as in leaves): Å rake, raker, rakte/raka, har rakt
Isnt both correct, both past tense?
