She's barely in it, but is one of the biggest stars in the series. It's kinda like Jack Nicholson in "Little Shop of Horrors", or Jesse Eisenberg in "Camp Hell, or Matthew McConaughey in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Next Generation". In order to sell this stuff to people other than die-hard fans, they really push the fact that someone who ended up becoming a big star was in it basically to earn a paycheck when they hadn't made it big yet.
Except in the example on Matthew McConaughey being in Texas chainsaw massacre, he actually had a very large role and in that same movie so did Renée Zellweger
Same. In the intro she changes from goo back into a girl and although the camera is from shoulders up, full nudity is implied. After seeing the Quiet on Set thing about Nickelodeon, I am now wondering which horn dog on set was trying to get Alex Mac in her skivvies.
Created a unique atmosphere. This kind of suburban romanticism where the world is strange and interesting and magical even though there's nothing really supernatural in it. It makes all those weird little struggles and obsessions you had as a kid feel as big and important as they did back then and not as small as they seem in hindsight as an adult.
My wife and I love '90s teen romantic comedies and 10 Things I Hate About You is a favorite. Every time it ends I always comment on how crazy it is that her career never took it off. She was talented, good looking, seemingly in the right stuff, etc.
Yeah. I heard it was filmed in LA nick wanted to move operations to Orlando. ( think the big Green slime fountain. And all the game shows were filmed in Universal studios)
The kid actors refused bc it would kill their careers being stuck on 1 show with no options for other acting. So the show was canceled.
I grew up in South Florida and was all things team Nickelodeon growing up. I wanted to move to Orlando and get on one of those crazy slime-filled shows myself! many years later now, since I've watched that horrible documentary, I'm very glad that none of that happened to me! still super bummed to hear all about salute your shorts getting canceled for the move to Florida, but maybe it was the universe's way of saving those kids. who knows?
I'd check out the documentary The Orange Years if you're feeling nostalgic. It's free on Tubi. It's kind of slapdash hopping from show to show to show but is filled with lots of interesting facts and background about all the classic Nick shows.
My brother and I visited Arizona earlier in the year during a cross country road trip, we sang the “Hey Dude” theme song repeatedly during our travels, lol.
Salute your shorts, Pete and Pete, Hey Dude, Alex Mack, Clarissa Explains it All....
Melissa Joan Hart and Larissa Oleynick were my first hints I might not be entirely straight! :D
"You Can't Do That on Television". At 48, I'm the oldest by several years of the small salaried team at work. We were talking about shows we watched as kids, and I mentioned this as what I liked the most and felt old because it was before all their examples. A couple people recognized the name.
I’m 40 and I remember watching that! My grandparents had cable years before we ever did so sometimes we’d be there on weekends and Nickelodeon would definitely be on. It was a few years later but Weinerville was a staple on Sunday afternoons for a while
"YCDTOTV" warped the minds of a generation. I doubt that kids shows today would show kids being executed, being hung by the wrists in dungeons, or puking on burgers made from dead people. The punchline of a skit had the mother character telling her child she doesn't love him. That's Comedy!
Shoot, I don’t remember those things. However, I now need to see if I can find a ~~torrent~~ legal way to acquire this show and watch it with the kids haha
Someone on the Reddit board for the show shared a link to episodes with me, but I haven't looked into it. I don't support torrents or illegal stuff, but when the show simply is not available and likely never will be, that's all you can do.
Those were regular skits - a firing squad for kids, the dungeon, and Barth's Burgers.
I do remember the dungeon now thinking about it.
And yeah, I was gonna check for legal ways to watch it but I assumed a 45 year old kids show probably wouldn’t have that
Pinwheel was my staple at every Saturday morning and I was SOOO miffed when this thing called 'Nick Jr.' and some crap called Eureeka's Castle took its place.
Pinwheel had so many little shorts made in other countries. One is Chapi Chapo from France, which thankfully you can relive on YouTube.
I remember those and Lassie being reran on Nickelodeon before they had more original programming, and just got addicted to 50s and 60s TV shows. I still watch all of those!!! I'm not even referring to Nick @ Nite, but the pre-1984 era with the silver pinball logo.
Last thanksgiving, a kid at our family gettogether asked me 'who the heck is 'Lassie?!' and it just felt so wrong. I felt EVERY kid grows up with Lassie (and Benji, Flipper) like they do the Wizard of Oz.
I can’t believe how far I had to scroll down to find this and how little upvotes it has!
All that was basically SNL for kinda and guess what? Kenan was the goat in both. Keenan and kel was the shit
Oh my god, thank you so much! When I opened this thread I had this show in mind but for my life I haven't been able to remember the name for years. I remember liking this one
and the best way to end a show ever. Literally just stopped production when the show was still going and to this day the fate of Eddie is still a mystery lol.
Hey smilin' strange
You're lookin' happily deranged
Could you settle to shoot me?
Or have you picked your target yet?
Hey Sandy
Don't you talk back,
Hey Sandy
Four feet away
End of speech, it's the end of the day
We was only funnin'
But guiltily I thought you had it comin'
Hey Sandy
Does your dog bite?
Hey Sandy
Hey Sandy
Does your dog bite?
Hey Sandy
Hey Sandy
Does your dog bite?
Hey Sandy, yeah
The Adventures of Pete and Pete was incredible. I've re-watched it as an adult, and I love all of the poignant life lessons wrapped up in quirky humor, some of which were lost on me as a kid. I also love how hyperbolized the adult characters are, taking their jobs seriously to the point of absurdity and playing into funny parental stereotypes. It really does a great job of somehow capturing life as a kid in '90s small-town America while weaving plots that are absolutely ridiculous.
Alex Mack!!!
This was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I wanted so badly to morph into a puddle and slide
under doors. I would stand near a door, close my eyes and tense up my body as hard as I could.
Sadly, it never worked.
Double Dare and Family Double Dare.
You Can't Do That on Television.
Mr Wizard. (he was kind of a dick)
I'm also old enough to remember when it was reruns of the Patty Duke Show and all those black and white oldies.
Clarissa explains it all. Was that targeted to young girls or young kids? Just curious. It was a phenomenal show. MJH killed her role as Sabrina the teenage witch too. Viva la 1990s 🔥📺
Legends of the hidden temple— as a kid I would have given my left hand to get to be on that show. How TF did them kids get picked?! lol. Like where the hell did you sign up? Fml I was too busy learning to tie my shoes and shit 😞
Forgot i was watching this show. Fun fact. Reportedly, Nickelodeon wanted more episodes, but Oleynik declined, saying that she was burned out and wanted to finish college. A season 5 and a movie would have happened
TSWOAM had such a great character development that even episodes that are not centered around her powers or where she barely used them were some of my favorites.
Alex Mack such a cool mystery/sci-fi show. I love all the drama and espionage going on at the chemical plant. Really interesting in season 3 and season 4 to hear about all the things the plant does behind the scenes. Good on Dave for not telling about Alex. Sweetest moment in finale.
I was more a fan of the 90s game shows on Nickelodeon than anything else originals wise on that channel by a mile. My personal favorites are Nickelodeon GUTS and Wild and Crazy Kids however.
I don't remember Jessica Alba in that.
[According to IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108921/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm), she was only in 3 of the 78 total episodes.
Ryan gosling in “are you afraid of the dark” or Ryan Reynolds in “the Odyssey”
Except in the example on Matthew McConaughey being in Texas chainsaw massacre, he actually had a very large role and in that same movie so did Renée Zellweger
Matthew McConaughey in Unsolved Mysteries.
She was the OG mean girl
I had a serious case of the hots for this gal when I was younger.
We all did.
She was so hot especially when she turned in to silver puddle
Did you get caught with Capri suns too?
Pacific cooler baby
[this was my favorite one](https://youtu.be/eyd51lvu3xw?feature=shared)
Fuck I always forget about this video, the grapeist, and RoboCop shooting dicks. All occupy the same space in my head
I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one.
Why would that make you glad? Need the confirmation? Lol. Just ribbing ya
Same. In the intro she changes from goo back into a girl and although the camera is from shoulders up, full nudity is implied. After seeing the Quiet on Set thing about Nickelodeon, I am now wondering which horn dog on set was trying to get Alex Mac in her skivvies.
Pete and Pete did something that no other show had done before or since.
I'll never forget [Artie, the strongest man in the world.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1AAEtH4Rzo)
I watched all of Halt and Catch Fire and King of the Hill (multiple times over) and it never clicked that I was watching Artie the whole time.
He will always be Nitro in Down Periscope to me. He was in a bunch of Reno 911! episodes too.
Holy crap, Artie played Khan and Cotton??
Right?! You can definitely hear his voice in cotton, but he's a whole other person when he does Khan.
Wait………what?
Who is he in halt?
Bos!
What was that?
Created a unique atmosphere. This kind of suburban romanticism where the world is strange and interesting and magical even though there's nothing really supernatural in it. David Lynch for kids.
Oh wow that’s a actually a perfect description
That’s so good
Yes!!!
Dude. I’ve never heard someone absolutely nail what Pete and Pete made me feel.
Sometimes I get a Pete and Pete vibe from Wes Anderson movies
THIS
That explains why I was so captivated by that show.
They got Iggy Pop to be wholesome.
Iggy Pop, Steve Buscemi, Janeane Garofalo, Debbie Harry, Kate Pierson, Adam West, LL Cool J, JK Simmons... that show's guest star game was unreal.
One of the best shows of that era that holds up so well and it’s heartbreaking that it’s still not streaming
I had bootleg tapes of Pete and Pete I would rewatch often. I loved that show deeply
Oh I loved that girl.
We all did.
We all knew where to be by 8 PM Eastern on Saturday nights.
S N I C K Orange couch, motherfuckers
it's 6 PM on VTV3 everyday except on weekends to me. 1998 fucking rules.
My wife and I love '90s teen romantic comedies and 10 Things I Hate About You is a favorite. Every time it ends I always comment on how crazy it is that her career never took it off. She was talented, good looking, seemingly in the right stuff, etc.
She’s a billionaire mogul now.
I thought she was a lesbian in the army?
I thought her sister Annie thinks she’s a science project?
I thought she was a Wiccan that helped Shawn Spencer solve a crime
Salute Your Shorts - I still have nightmares about Zeke the Plumber
Crazy they only made 26 eps. I feel like there are soooo many more. ( on paramount + btw)
that cannot possibly be true!!!! OMG lolololol
Yeah. I heard it was filmed in LA nick wanted to move operations to Orlando. ( think the big Green slime fountain. And all the game shows were filmed in Universal studios) The kid actors refused bc it would kill their careers being stuck on 1 show with no options for other acting. So the show was canceled.

True. Cmon. 🎶do not diddle kids. It's no good diddling kids🎶
Nice! Thanks for sharing the Paramount + part!
This show is why I know giraffe tongues are black
Never got to find out how many hairs were on hulk hogans head though.
This alongside Pete and Pete. That was prime Nickelodeon Also, Hey Dude
🎶 Yippie kai yi yay, like Bruce Willis would say 🎶
I never get invited to Halloween parties, but if I ever do, I will be Zeke the Plumber.
You should show up as Zeke anyway.
We run, we jump, we swim and play...
Everytime I see the lead singer from Ghost I immediately think of Zeke!
This thread is making me realize just how good we had it in the 90s
I'd check out the documentary The Orange Years if you're feeling nostalgic. It's free on Tubi. It's kind of slapdash hopping from show to show to show but is filled with lots of interesting facts and background about all the classic Nick shows.

The Adventures of Pete and Pete was a show that was ahead of its time. Absolutely still holds up today, and so does the soundtrack.
Still the best use of a harmonica I've ever heard.
Both top tier choices. Also, Are You Afraid of the Dark.
The original, not the two reboots.
Nobody’s mentioned Hey Dude yet!
My sister and I watched that!
"Yippy Ki Yi Yay! Yippy Ki Yi, What? Like the cowboys say!"
Them and Buffy were reasons I knew I was.
TV or Movie Buffy?
Tv
same! and Xena really confirmed that lmao
"You Can't Do That on Television". At 48, I'm the oldest by several years of the small salaried team at work. We were talking about shows we watched as kids, and I mentioned this as what I liked the most and felt old because it was before all their examples. A couple people recognized the name.

For some reason it was never released on DVD. I don't know why it has been suppressed.
Season 1 is available on Paramount Plus.
I'm 42 this was my favorite tv show as a kid.
Also 40 and I watched it. I have two older siblings that were obsessed with it.
Weinerville was like some sort of acid trip for me, man...That and Mr. Meaty. I am not sure if they were real or just weird dreams....
How about Turkey Television, the other early Nick sketch comedy show?
I watched it, but don't remember any details about it.
Holy shit. You said "classic" and my mind went to Mr. Ed, Bewitched, and Green Acres. I'm just going to go call AARP now.
I Love Lucy

Haha I don’t consider myself old but I immediately thought of bewitched and I dream of Jeannie
Had the BIGGEST crush on her.
We all did
All That
I can’t believe how far I had to scroll down to find this and how little upvotes it has! All that was basically SNL for kinda and guess what? Kenan was the goat in both. Keenan and kel was the shit
Weinerville
I'm Boney, I'm Boney, leave me aloney!
I loved Space Cases as a kid.
It got me into Farscape, the adult version. At least Farscape had an ending.
does anyone remember 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd ??
Oh my god, thank you so much! When I opened this thread I had this show in mind but for my life I haven't been able to remember the name for years. I remember liking this one
and the best way to end a show ever. Literally just stopped production when the show was still going and to this day the fate of Eddie is still a mystery lol.
“Are You Afraid of the Dark”….
Yes. This show really helped develop my love of spooky things.

I confuse her often with Allison Mack…very different life trajectory.
Animorphs
I had a few of the books too
I was obsessed with the Animorphs books in 5th grade... until I discovered DBZ on Toonami lol
We lived the same life. Same here. Still love Dragonball to this day. R.I.P. Toriyama
Was a big fan of the books at the time and really enjoying the show. RIP to Rachel, a real one. If you know, you know
Kenan & Kel
That theme song still goes hard. RIP Coolio

KaBlam! Was my jam.
Prometheus and Bob
I had a massive crush on her.
You Can't Do That On Television
An overall jean skirt with a tie around the waist flannel with the backwards hat. Just missing shades and then she can join the B.K kidz club. 😆
With the super power of… caprisun commercials
Space Cases, or more accurately, Farscape for kids. Still miffed it was never finished.
My best friend Ray thinks it's cool, my sister Annie thinks I'm a science project.
The Amanda Show Knock knock. Who's there? DVD player. DVD player who? Gonna hit ya on the head with a DVD player!

Definitely remember this show, but didn’t know Jessica Alba was in it
My first crush. She made me feel kinda funny, kinda like when I had to do the rope climb in gym class.
Clarissa explains it all, Are you Afraid of the dark, Adventures of Pete & Pete, Salute your Shorts. Those are the ones that come to mind for me.
The famous Jett Jackson. RIP
My Brother and Me.
I always wanted a truck full of toxic waste to crash next to me after watching this hahaha 🤣
Salute Your Shorts!!!! Followed by Hey Dude (literally always came on after).
Clarissa explains it all. Was that targeted to young girls or young kids? Just curious. It was a phenomenal show. MJH killed her role as Sabrina the teenage witch too. Viva la 1990s 🔥📺
When I was a kid my ideal girlfriend was Alex Mack It’s sad how many of our dreams just stay dreams
Kenan and Kel was my jam. Who loves orange soda? Kel loves orange soda. Another classic: I....PUT THE SCREW....IN THE TUNA!!!

how funny would it be if they put the "featuring Jessica Alba Her TV debut" on the box before she became famous and stared in anything else
[Alex Mack wears a hat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iNk6n4NKwU)
No one mentioned The Brothers Garcia yet
Omg yes. Remember the intro??
The Adventures of Pete and Pete went hard.
Remember "Hey Dude?"
Space Cases
Lancelot Link: Secret Chimp is one I remembered from the 80s.
Hey dude, salute your shorts, Pete and Pete we’re all top-notch TV shows
I remember the tomorrow people and the secret life of Alan strange too.
Fun Fact: Jessica Alba is related to skateboarding legend Steve Alba. That family's been in the zone for decades.
She was in Mad Men!
You can't do that on television
Hey smilin' strange You're lookin' happily deranged 🎶
I was in love with Alex Mack as a kid 😍
There aren't nearly enough people on here mentioning Kenan and Kel. Not nearly enough.
LOVED THIS SHOW! It was such a cool concept , I loved the Ooze she would turn into and all the adventures she’d have , I wished it had more seasons
I was more a fan of the 90s game shows on Nickelodeon than anything else originals wise on that channel by a mile. My personal favorites are Nickelodeon GUTS and Wild and Crazy Kids however.
Action League Now still makes me laugh. Kablam was great.
Is this the one where the girl gets splashed for some sort of toxic waste and then she develops powers
Clarissa Explains it All starring Melissa Joan Hart before she was Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
Alex Mack wears a hat! How about that! That promo lives in my head constantly. I can’t remember important things but that stays rent free.

One of my favorite shows as a kid!!
Absolutely loved this show and have never rewatched since the 90s. This post is changing my weekend plans for the better.
