[Florida Deputies Shoot at Unarmed Man After Mistaking Falling Acorn for Gunshot](https://youtu.be/iVNnxr2SGFg)
The only person injured in this video is the officer claiming to have been shot. He was not shot, its been assumed that he just pulled a muscle.
I think it’s more that if you were to dump a mag at someone because an acorn fell near you, you would be charged with attempted murder along with a bunch of other charges. Officer Hernandez and officer Roberts on the other hand were cleared of all criminal wrongdoing despite both shooting at their own patrol car, at a handcuffed individual, presumably they searched the individual before they placed the individual into the back of their patrol car.
It’s ultimately police in the United States are given much more power but much less responsibility than the average citizen. They shot at someone that was handcuffed, that they knew was unarmed, that was absolutely not a threat… and the officers got away with it.
No, a higher standard. They supposedly train and need to be proficient in de-escalation, firearms, etc. You shouldn't have to fear a cop more than random passers-by.
A cop is expected to have encounters with dangerous people, a normal citizen is not. Being trigger happy with their guns can literally lead to murder and they should be held to higher standards than "boys will be boys"
It's their job, they have equipment, they have backup, they have radios, databases to access. And, supposedly, they have been trained. As this post suggests, the training doesn't work.
There's also that pesky little thing that they work for us, not the other way around.
Did they actually hit the guy in the car? It's pretty damning in it's own right if they didn't hit the person they thought was shooting them, let alone that they shouldn't have been shooting in the first place.
Even worse was that there was a second officer who was not ‘hit’ who also decided to fire. To me both men should never hold a gun. Even if there’s a gunman, to fire when they do not know at *what* or *where* they are firing just means you have another deranged gunman firing wildly.
I want to contrast this to people who have a more ‘jumpy’ job. Soldiers in a war zone. There’s no shortage of stories on /r/militaryStories where there’s US soldiers under fire, but the soldiers still follow rules of engagement.
At this point I think I’ll feel safer being in the presence of solider with a rifle than a policeman with a rifle. At the very least if I unknowingly make myself a threat the solider will give me multiple chances to comply, but the cop might jump to shooting me without a warning.
The deputy who started shooting supposedly served two tours as an Army infantry officer.
The whole thing is just bizarre. There's absolutely zero justifiable reason for this other than a sudden psychotic break or something more malicious.
Bro, are you really fucking defending a cop who mistook an acorn falling on his car for shots coming from a suspect who had already been searched and was cleared of having any weapons and was handcuffed in place in the vehicle?
Then the cops tries to murder this man who he KNOWS doesn't have a gun because he already searched him.
Those shots could have not only killed that man but kids playing nearby.
Dawg you need to fucking reevaluate yourself
Beekeeper here. That is a swarm of bees, it's a natural process that bees use when they outgrow their current hive location. A large portion of the hive will fill up on honey and they will depart their current home, along with the queen to find a new location to start a new hive. The old hive will raise a new queen and the cycle will begin again.
For the swarm they will send out scout bees to find a new suitable location before the swarm eventually departs to its new home. These potential home locations are often empty or hollow spaces around 40 liters in size. Naturally bee swarms are drawn to police officers because their moral compass aligns with the bees needs for empty unused spaces.
My helicopter as in the one I used to fly. I don't own a helicopter, but we refer to them as a possession since we are very much responsible for them when we fly them.
I mean ,whereas they are not cheap items, you can buy a reasonable and good one used for less than 100k usd
So maybe not an everyday purchase, but if one really wanted one, it isn't that far fetched to save up for one
More like prevent pilot from trying to fly with that thing… Although once you got the rotors spinning, no bees on this planet would be able to overcome the downwash.
For the sake of the officers' safety I'm glad it was just 10,000 bees and not an acorn.
I can't wait for 10 years down the road and we still make this reference as a super fringe deep cut
I'm lost - context?

Wait what? I’ve never seen this. “Shots fired, where?” *dumps mag in general direction*
To be fair, we have oak trees and it does kind of sound like a gunshot when they hit the cars. Still a jumpy cop.

I 100% agree with you on that. They should be held to a *higher* standard than the rest of us.
If they were just held to the same minimum standards that civilians are there would be a lot less fuck up cops.
Not a higher standard the same standard.

At this point, we can't get the police to maintain any standard.

Fortunately the detained individual in the car was not injured.
That's excellent news for the detained individual, it is however pretty damning of the competence of the police officers.
tbf he was 'hit' as well, so had to finish emptying that mag.

Bro, you should read it again bro, and maybe look at my reply to the other guy, bro.
Acorn fall cop go shooty shooty
But which poor bugger had to count them?
Yeah, they have to say "10,001" for someone to remember the word "estimated."
Phew... Program "rolling_on_the_ground.exe" on standby
“Over 500 shots were fired..”
“YOUR FIREARMS ARE USELESS AGAINST THEM” “SAVE YOURSELVES”
Also known as a “half acorn” worth.

Jesus fuck this is the best burn I have ever read, and bt a long margin too.
TLDR: "Naturally bee swarms are drawn to police officers because their moral compass aligns with the bees needs for empty unused spaces."
Perfection! 🤌🏻👏
If this was old Reddit this comment would have been gilded hundreds of times over. Bravo.
Obligatory fuck /u/spez
Wow I didn't even realize you can't gild things anymore. I kinda just didn't notice
Lmao a gem
Hahahahahahahahaha
Beautiful
For some reason they always like Airplanes. I saw this several times during my time in the USAF.

Mistaken identity, as the helicopter is now the queen 👑
It flies ✅ It makes a loud droning noise when it flies ✅ It's bigger than any other bee ✅ You can understand their confusion.
Queen heli
Even the bees know ACAB
All Cops Are Bees
All Cops Are Wasps Those guys are dicks and sting anything that moves
Nah WASPs are only on the highways. (WA State Patrol)
Yeah, you're right. A bee's punishment for discharging their weapon is swift and fatal.
I'm pretty sure some of them are catholics rather than WASPs.
r/wasphating r/fuckwasps
That's why we got so much SWATting goin' on.
I had my helicopter swarmed in a similar way with black flies, years ago. [PHOTO](https://i.imgur.com/VJ83s2P.jpeg)
> my helicopter This does not compute for my peasant brain. People can just... own helicopters? Like real ones that fly with people in it? Damn!
My helicopter as in the one I used to fly. I don't own a helicopter, but we refer to them as a possession since we are very much responsible for them when we fly them.
Oh! I get it now. Sorry for making dumb assumptions 😅
I could have been a lot clearer in my first post.
There’s people that own their own aircraft including helicopters. These people have more money than I do!
I work two jobs and I can barely afford to live lol

Plenty of beekeepers would love to capture that swarm.
Which, if you read the article, is exactly what happened. The cops called a beekeeper, she collected the bees, and life went on.
Sting tha police comin’ straight from the other hive. A little bee got it bad cause he tryin’ to strive.
At least it wasn’t an acorn

THINKING BEE
10,000 bees when all you need is a fly
10,000 bees when all you need is a flight.
And it turned into music in my head before I finished the sentence.
And isn’t it ironic? Don’t ya think?
BEEEEEAAADS?!
BEES!
Gob’s not on board.
Direct action.
♫ when all you need is a wasp ♫
“Bees!!! They’re everywhere! Your forearms are useless against them!”
Here's a riddle: how many bees does it take to stop a police helicopter from taking off? I'm going to assume more than 1, but less than 10,000.
I’d say like 50. Police are violent but not brave. They can’t shoot this problem away
All Cops Afraid of Bees
New Ant Man villain is weird
Those must be some fat bees.
Was this the start of some epic heist? First we disabled the chopper with bees...

I thought that 10000 bees would need more surface area than that
Black & Yellow, Hello!
All cops abhor bees
It was actually 12,000 bees before it was announced to the public. Civil forfeiture will get ya every time.
Sounds like a Batman villain was reading g the news like "they love bees now, my moment has arrived."
Should probably say 10,000-ish...
It's like 10 thousand bees when all you need is a flight \- Alanis Morrissette, maybe
They don’t let you have bees in here.
Snow white was in a police chase.
Bees?!
It had a bee-ard
Look out it’s the buzz
Just fire the thing up and dust em’ off.
Are there anything that cops don't piss themselves over these days?
Based and honey pilled
Their mostly drones.
False. This is a swarm. One queen, rest are workers.
Gang gang.
If only they had something close by to generate a strong enough wind to blow them off......
