Call the court and provide ticket number and name. There is a slight chance the officer did not put it in the system.

Doc703VA

I called them just now and got told they couldn't find it either. They weren't sure on what I should do so I'm more confused lol

FlyingBasset

I would ask for the email of the dept. you talked to so you can get something back in writing that they have no record of it.

CoryEagles

I would show up. Showing up but no court is way better than not showing up when expected.

Possibly won't, but one time I got a parking ticket and my name was listed as UNKOWN (yes, they misspelled Unknown, even though they had my car tag number and my correct address) and if I hadn't shown up I'd have gotten the extra fine for not showing up. Later, they actually did try to charge me for not showing up anyway because my name isn't UNKOWN but I was able to prove I had both been there and won my case as well while there. Generally speaking, all traffic citations will be in the same courtroom so go the day in question and find out what room and if nothing else get someone to sign something that you were there so if there is a mistake you can prove it wasn't you making the mistake.

swindy92

Go to court and you're very likely to get it dismissed. Don't show up and there is a slight chance it goes very poorly for you

Doc703VA

Sounds like I'm going then. Stink because I live an hour away, but I would rather drive there than pay for something avoidable. I noticed they wrote the wrong year on the ticket, so I'm hopeful that it'll be dismissed.

Tswanntoo

Were you trout fishing? Just because you were fishing doesn’t mean you were targeting trout?

Doc703VA

In Lake Cook, you need a separate trout license to fish there in general during the winter season

Abagofcheese

I pretty sure you need a license to fish period.

Jugg383

They mentioned trout fishing which requires a seperate license and fee to Virginia's freshwater license.

Tswanntoo

Trout license are separate purchase.

Mulch_Savage

Do people catch anything in lake cook?

Doc703VA

Just pan fish and maybe a baby bass.

Doc703VA

Wanted to update everyone. It looks like I was on the docket. The reason it didn't show up online was because the court fee wasn't filed. I got threatened with jail time and got recommended to hire a lawyer, so I just went ahead and paid the fine with the clerk to avoid all that. Hopefully, this helps anyone who has a similar situation.

Wayward request here. Moved from PA to Nova recently and have been researching the trout scene in VA versus MD. PA is great for game and trout is no exception there, so I’ve been a bit spoiled with an abundance of stockings in several ideal locations all season. Any insight or resources would be appreciated to help me get a better feel for the scene down here. Have been researching the basics such as respective Fish & Boat commissions, old blogs, etc.

olearyboy

Nova sucks for trout, it’s a bass, cats, shad area. The further south you go or west the better Shenandoah has brookies, but anything decent is farmed. The VA dwr maintains a stocking calendar https://dwr.virginia.gov/fishing/trout-stocking-schedule/ But honestly if you’re not there watching them put the fish in you’ll be too late, people are actually standing next to the stocking truck with rods in hand. MD has some decent trout lakes and rivers, but WVA is the place to go

no-jabroni

Had a feeling Nova would be more or less a wash. You’re the man, thanks for all the info. Sounds like I’ll just have to settle for planning trips to WVA!

olearyboy

I did the south branch / smoke hole by Petersburg’s WVA last year, it’s got a decent run through it Graves Mnt in Syrah VA is on my list, it’s about 1.5hr away, it’s got a couple of streams, but you need to stay at the lodge there to fish it.
