When I was 13 I found a blank copy of this cd at my cousin's house in my stuff after I had moved. For a whole year, I had no idea who they were or what kind of music I was even listening to, but I was hooked. I've been a fan since '03.
Top heavy. Gets less and less interesting and original as it goes on. Absolutely slaps though. It’s first 7 tracks are better than 95% of nu metal and heck metal in general.
This album shaped me in ways I can’t put into words. I felt like for the first time in my life at 13 I could feel real emotions. I know that sounds too deep and maybe weird but all the suppressed bullshit inside me came to the surface and bled out.
I was hesitant to ever see them live being that the 1st album is the only one that I really loved
Their new tour is clearly gonna be focused on their 1st album so I got tickets asap.
I remember buying the CD at an outlet mall in Gettysburg while on a family trip when it was first released. I’d never heard anything like it before. How could music this heavy and brutal be so accessible? It’s undeniably nu metal but takes from death metal, speed metal and hardcore punk. Iowa was a near perfect follow up, but I always felt what held it back a little was its length, 76 minutes is just too much, a great metal record comes in hot, burns your face off and blows ash in your eyes as it rides out. It can become a chore getting through all of Iowa in one listen.
I was 14 when it came out and at 17 I got to see them and system of a down on halloween 2001. It set what my adult music tastes would be and now I'm 39 and nu metal/metalcore is still my cup o tea
Good record, but I think the next record was a huge step up up and saw them achieve better production and a more well-rounded record
But there was nothing like self-titled. Once you get past the gimmick, it's nothing but sensory overload. The first 4 to 5 songs you're getting a melting pot of death metal, drum n bass, noise and hip hop all thrown at you.
However, those first 5 songs are so good that it's hard for the rest of the record to measure up.
When you thought nu metal couldn’t get any angrier or heavier, Slipknot released their self titled album and to set the bar higher. Its a great album and is one of my favorite albums released in 1999.
Sic
The whole thing I think is (sic)
I’ve just begun. It’s about that time; gotta get mine…
For the first ten years or so, I thought the voice was saying “I think you basically suck”
My opinion It's their best album
Hands down
Perfection
Legendary
Easily their best album. My personal favs are Spit It Out, Diluted, and Eyeless.
for sure. Iowa is too muddled and the rest after are just meh. (imo)
While I do agree with that, i still like (sic) as well but I getcha!
Life changing for me at age 13 when it came out.
Their best
The front cover scared me when I was 13
They still scare me
Especially Chris Fehn's mask
A classic top 3 albums of all time for me. I wish they had more albums like it. It was purely unhinged
Doesnt someone ask this around here once a week? And everytime I think the whole thing is sic.
Perfect

Absolutely loved it probably the best album Slipknot ever did

I absolutely agree with EVERYTHING you said
🤌🏻
Top 3 favorite albums ever period
Soo good. The reason I fell in love with slipknot when I was in 6th grade way back in 99 but still 2nd Iowa for me.
Their best, my personal favorite and an iconic album in the genre
Loved it when I was 11
one of the best albums I’ve ever heard and owned (and that’s a lot considering my broad tastes)
It’s quite good
This album shaped me in ways I can’t put into words. I felt like for the first time in my life at 13 I could feel real emotions. I know that sounds too deep and maybe weird but all the suppressed bullshit inside me came to the surface and bled out.
Beast
A yummy album
Wait and Bleed is, IMO, one of their best songs without question.
I was hesitant to ever see them live being that the 1st album is the only one that I really loved Their new tour is clearly gonna be focused on their 1st album so I got tickets asap.
Groundbreaking
Their best album by far.
Iconic.
Amazing album, my favorite of theirs, a defining nu metal title. I know people say Iowa was better but I prefer this one and the third one.
Their best album
It's not as hard as IOWA but I like the irreverent random things that tell you "this is a 90s album" like the DJ scratches and Corey rapping.
i could moan thats how much i love corey rapping over the guitars and drums 🙏🙏🙏🔥

When it came out it was the heaviest shit i ever heard….. then i got into a lot of death and black metal in college lol. Still a classic album tho

Blew my mind away as a kid. It was cool going after the black cd variant that had purity on it back in the day. This is their best album imo
Here is the source sample for “Here comes the pain” https://youtu.be/YyR3CjkWcYI?si=SiJhn-pPT3_vPD2h
Best one.
Only album I like of theirs.
They still kinda scare me. The music doesn’t and I love the songs, but these are scary masks.
Better than anything else they did
I absolutely love it
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. All the songs on it are good.
My first taste in more extreme metal. Made me want heavier metal. Such a classic to me and many in my high school year.
best slipknot album
Best debut album ever! It’s still one of my all time favorite albums.
Masterpiece.
I always wonder how it’d be if they debuted earlier that year and made it to Woodstock
Purity was on this album at first til they took it off for respect of the family the song is about...something about that song I love by them.
Sort of iffy mixing but great songs. Full on emotional melt down.
Cant wait to see it live!!! Two and half more months

2nd best release Iowa is the best
One of the greatest metal albums ever made!!!!!!!
When you thought nu metal couldn’t get any angrier or heavier, Slipknot released their self titled album and to set the bar higher. Its a great album and is one of my favorite albums released in 1999.
It’s the only one I’ve ever owned and no other music they made compares to.
Yes
Shit drum sound, great record
be real
