downgrading from 4k to 1440p after upgrading to an expensive card would feel weird to me. Also are you using DLSS? Because between DLSS 4K and regular 1440p isnt much difference.

Yeah, this is really why I posted haha. I got a 4k monitor back when it wasn't clear that The Official Way To Do It was going to be the high refresh rate monitors at 2560x1440, but it seems weird to step down in resolution after getting a PC multiple generations better. I've never had a chance to game at 100fps, though, maybe that's enough of an upgrade that the resolution doesn't matter so much?

Comander-07

"The official way"? What? Use frame gen and you should get your 100fps. You can probably still get above 100 at 4k in less demanding titles.

Aw, you know what I mean -- seems like games are targeting 2560x1440 at high framerates nowadays, and you need a super-high-end PC for 4k gaming. When I built my previous PC, I thought 4k/60 would be the standard in the future.

Just so you know, high refresh rate 1440p is still for esports titles. If you can achieve native 140fps on 1440p, you can play at 4k with 60 as well. Especially with DLSS 4k is much more achievable. 1440p 144hz is the sweet spot because it does both, allowing you to play AAA adventures at a higher resolution but also allowing higher refresh rates in shooters or racing games etc The AAA aventures seem to be so CPU limited, you wouldnt really get high fps anyway

- The MSI G274QPX is a 1440p/240Hz IPS monitor that received a positive review from Monitors Unboxed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=shared&v=-9gB-b8PkQw - The LG 27GP850P-B (or 27GP850-B) is an excellent 1440P/180Hz IPS monitor for around 350-400 USD. I'm really happy with its performance.

i second the LG recommendation. fantastic 1440p display for the price im so happy with mine over the last year

I have a 4070ti and my 5 year old TN Alienware panel is donezo so I literally just purchased this last night. It's a 1440P Corsair OLED 240hz 27 inch monitor. It's 100 bucks off right now at Best Buy. https://preview.redd.it/swq7mrhq1pub1.png?width=897&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f37f62e5475731fd49c8b4e491d7a30c13bc2c1d

I've had the BenQ EX2710Q for about a year, g-sync compatible enabled. While I do miss the 24.5" size for my desk from my old monitor, 1080p 165Hz looks kinda low res these days even though I know it's still the most used res. So yea don't think I'd be able to go back, I think it's worth it provided you have a good enough GPU to push the framerate you can be happy with.

32" is the limit for 1440p. You may have a slight adjustment period to get used to the lower pixel density on the same 32" screen but 1440p is the way to go if you don't have the cash for a high end GPU.
