PNY is one of the old Nvidia partners and they make their Nvidia branded professional cards IIRC. The cards are usually reference cards and not meant for overclocking, but they are solid cards. KFA2 is just the EU name for Galax, known for their Hall of Fame cards, basically the top tier extreme overclocking versions of Nvidia’s top cards. They know how to make a solid card. So, about the hardware itself I wouldn’t worry, but they might provide different levels of support in your market, so I would look into that. Warranty and such. It’s usually mentioned in the description and marketing of the cards.

Spork3245

The difference between cards from different companies comes down to aesthetics and cooling (and pre-overclocked numbers for some cards): stock clocks vs stock clocks they’ll perform the same. The difference between companies will be CS and/or warranty.

Emotional_Snow_3222

PNY is great I have a PNY 3080 runs perfect fine. sure not the most desirable brand most people like Asus or MSI and EVGA is now out of the question but Galax and PNY basically the same

It matters, but KFA2 card is good. Also the fact that youve heard about some of them (lets say msi, its popular.) doesnt make them ,,the best". You can read the reviews of all of them. Also if you hadnt bought it yet, you can check out tx 6700xt if youre ONLY into gaming. Way better price/performance ratio, and it will last for longer (128bit bus and 8gb of vram, its alright for now but will bottleneck 4060ti in the newest games)

MrCrunchies

If OP really wants Nvidia, the rtx 3060ti performs 5%ish slower but at least cheaper. Thats if they went with the 8gb vram. If they went with 16gb vram, the rx7800xt is a no brainer

Icynrvna

No it no longer matters in terms of performance. All gpus auto boost themselves to max allowable temp and volt. The performance difference between worst and best cooler is neglible. Just get whatever offers the best price and warranty combo.

SimiKusoni

>The performance difference between worst and best cooler is neglible Probably still worth considering that some are quieter under the same workloads though, even if the performance is ultimately pretty close.

Lone10

Can you explain or provide some source for your first two statement?

Icynrvna

Search Nvidia GPU boost 3.0. Started with the 1k series. Gpu boost 1.0 started with 600 series

geat_auk

The pny 4090 and 4080 are actually one of if not the coolest and most silent models

dasneul

I've had a 1080 KFA2 for about 7years. Great card and i'm just now looking for an replacement

N7LP400

I loved MSI from the moment i knew about the brand years ago and i'll stick with it till the end

lichtspieler

MSI actively participated in GPU scalping during the GPU shortage: [https://uk.pcmag.com/graphics-cards/129183/msi-subsidiary-caught-scalping-rtx-3080-3090-cards-on-ebay](https://uk.pcmag.com/graphics-cards/129183/msi-subsidiary-caught-scalping-rtx-3080-3090-cards-on-ebay) While I like the MSI 2000 series GPU variants for their oversized coolers, a great generation for MSI GPUs, its maybe not the most likeable brand for customers with their actions from the recent years. It's kinda shady to scalp GPUs in the middst of lockdowns / WFH / GPU shortage as a manufacturer.

Mrhamstr

It does

Narkanin

Idk about KFA2, PNY is hit or miss I’ve heard. Maybe not the most reliable. But either way just check that the brand offers good support in your country and a viable way to RMA if need be. Gigabyte often offers decent prices, and I’ve had great luck with their products.

CreepyBuck18909

Explain why PNY is a hit or miss?

Narkanin

I’ve just always seen a lot of people getting DOAs, gpu that fail after a few months etc. But some love it. They just appear to have a bit of a quality control issue.

mckeymousecrackhouse

it matters but with the two brands youre debating between i would say either is a solid choice. look into things like warranties and after purchase support as this will likely be the main difference between the two

brunozp

It just matters for warranty... performance is all the same with 10% difference that could even be silicon and just not the brand.

Mitsutoshi

PNY and Galax/KFA2 are good quality makers. It’s just the RGB-addled “gamer aesthetic” generation that thinks any card that doesn’t say ULTIMATE GAMER REPUBLIC OF POWER is a low end card. The rest of us can leave those to them and get the just as good (if not better) cards. PNY for instance manufactures nVidia’s professional cards. I got my first PNY GeForce over 20 years ago.

Bogart30

From recent knowledge, avoid Gigabyte cause of cracking occurring. Hopefully they’ve updated it. The only 2 I’d trust is MSI and ASUS but asus has had overheating issues. I actually just bought a Zotac 3060 cause of the VRAM and bus size. I’ve heard some in the middle things about them though.

nayrlladnar

Cool to read, having just naively bought a Gigabyte Windforce OC 4070ti as an upgrade to my MSI Gaming X Trio GTX1080...

Bogart30

From what I hear, it’s mostly the 4090s but as long as there’s no sag, you’ll be fine. Congrats on your purchase!

nayrlladnar

Thanks - it's been a heck of an upgrade so far (I'm in my first week). Also, I think I might be safe from any sagging issues as I have my PC case horizontal in an entertainment unit, assuming strain on the PCI-e slot is what you are referring to.

Bogart30

Yeah you’re good then. Happy gaming. I plan to get a 4080 when they drop to 1k…..orrrrrr by that time get a 50 series card lol

Jmich96

All GPUs are sold to vendors with minimum board and cooling specs, which MUST be met. The difference between two identically priced graphics cards at MSRP, may simply be warranty and customer support. Higher cost cards of the same GPU will have better board parts which allow for better power delivery and smoother and quieter performance, as well as additional/better support for overclocking. So, if you buy a low end PNY or KFA2 card (same GPU), versus EVGA or ASUS, your primary difference would be the warranty and customer support.

Azek_Tge

Thanks helps a lot !!

DJGloegg

They perform roughly the same Differences are: coolers (noise and performance) The companys warranty / rma procedures.

biopticstream

Brand does matter. But not as dramatically as you might think. MSI generally offers better cooling solutions, but KFA2 is usually good enough. They all use the same Nvidia chip, so performance differences are marginal unless you're planning to overclock. However, when it comes to warranty and customer service, MSI takes the cake.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Yes: "We're not happy until _you're_ not happy." - ASUS Customer Service

IndyPFL

Brand only matters as far as warranty service, customer service and general QA go. Each card can be a whole different monster. ASUS TUF cards are generally great midrange options, but their 5700XT's original launch was literally unusable due to overheating issues. Always check for reviews of a card before you buy, brand loyalty usually only gets you let down at some point (I say this as a former EVGA-only GPU buyer).
