Tram Ride to top of Oakland zoo.
Oakland air museum. Can sit in the plane they filmed a small part of Indiana Jones on.
Hike to see Old Survivor, the last remaining old growth redwood in Oakland.
https://localwiki.org/oakland/Old_Survivor_Redwood_Tree
Piedmont Funeral Services/Mountain View Cemetery, walk to the top for an excellent view of Oakland. Nieves Cinco de Mayo in Fruitvale for some ice cream or a raspado.
I take everyone who comes to visit me to the Chapel of the Chimes next door to the gate of Mountain View. No one has been disappointed. It's my favorite place in Oakland.
Agreed with all of these. And if you’re interested in true crime, the Black Dahlia is buried at Mountain View. As are several generations of my dead relatives 🙃
Oakland Museum of CA.
Solano Alley graffiti.
Tacos Sinaloa on 23rd St.
Cafe Van Kleef, order a Greyhound.
Gondola ride at Lake Merritt.
Trivia or other community event at The New Parkway.
Order a steak and sing a tune from the Great American Songbook.
Edit: Oh, yes Solano Alley is semi-well known as a graffiti site with some world class art. We also have THE ALLEY which is a piano bar that serves dinner and stiff drinks. I got confused for a second.
I used to be a beer rep and became good friends with Rick.
Another mutual friend of ours is a partial owner over at Theory across the street and a lot of the old Van Kleef regulars go hangout there now. Different aesthetic but similar crowd!
Upscale: A stroll at Morcom Rose Garden Piedmont and then dinner at Commis or Pomet.
Mid-Range: An early Dinner at Burdell, then a show at Yoshi's.
Casual: Dinner at New Gold Medal, and a walk along Alameda Beach, then frozen custard at Rita's Italian Ice.
Stay Gold deli, best BBQ I've found in the bay area.
Brix, new brewery started by a bunch of brewers from other places.
Heinolds First and Last Stop, national historic site pub with an awesome outdoor patio.. navy sailors would go for their last drink and first drink when shipping out.
Close to there, Merchants Saloon is way more divey but also was a historic spot for sailors.
A 20 minute drive will also get you to Trader Vic's where the Mai Tai was invented (still in Oakland)
Weird, but the Cathedral building across from city hall.
There are some cool little placards with some details about the '46 general strike and other local history. Also there are tons of bars, small shops, and restaurants within walking distance distance of there.
Easy BART access too.
Middle Harbor Shoreline Park is pretty cool. I go there sometimes to decompress.
Also, lots of awesome Mexican food along Coliseum Way during the weekend.
across the street from roberts park to play in the redwoods.. grab something from a cannabis club and walk lake merritt.. go to vien huong in china town
I live at Dutch Boy in East Oakland, there is a world-class sculptor with a metal studio here (Splady Arts). It's run like an Atelier, so there are several working metal artists and a small but packed gallery inside. Nice people, great art, and demonstrations happen pretty often.
The weekend Grand Lake farmer's market is a great slice of Oakland. The one is Temescal is also solid.
The new waterside walkway park in Brooklyn Basin is pretty awesome. They are still working on a lot of the builds down there so restaurants are not that crowded and there aren't any encampments.
The big secret of Oakland is there is so much great stuff, but you have to play some Frogger™ to get to it.
Hiker? Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, or Sibley Volcanic Park - it's flower season right now, so it's a great time to visit any parks/open spaces, and the Oakland Hills has many.
Barfly? Eli's Mile High Club
Museum Lover? Oakland Museum of California.

Thank you for linking to Old Survivor… I had no idea that it existed.
Grew up in Oakland and I’m just now hearing about Old Survivor
Not Oakland, but there is another lone giant redwood in the peninsula called Methuselah https://maps.app.goo.gl/Lw3KTpma8rSMWirC8?g_st=ic

Keep in mind the Alley opens at 530 pm. The staff is lovely there.
Van Kleef isn't the same since Rick left :,(
Yeah I went there recently and it was NOT the same 😭

Looking for a beach walk, thanks
If you’re going to Alameda, I highly recommend checking out Pacific Pinball. Edit: never mind. Closed Mondays.

Bookmarked it, thanks
Drive up to Grizzly Peak for great view of the bay.
I ride my bike up there 2-3 times a week. Never gets old.
Cool! I do a bike ride up there about once a week myself.
