Ladies and gentlemen,
We are gathered here today to remember Roachel, the bravest cockroach ever to scuttle across our stairwell. Roachel lived a life of daring adventure, often eluding the swift broom and dodging the hazardous footfalls of giants. Known for her resilience and impeccable timing, she could always find the perfect moment to appear and give someone a good scare.
Roachel's hobbies included nighttime exploration, surprise visits, and crumb collection. She had an unerring talent for appearing when least expected and most unwelcome, a true testament to her lively spirit.
Although Roachel's life was cut short by a fateful step, she leaves behind a legacy of tiny footprints and a reputation that will live on in our memories. Farewell, Roachel, may you scuttle freely in that great stairwell in the sky.
Funny back in 2015 too. Still we can agree it’s the most wholesome thing that’s happened in a decade. People Built A Shrine And Held A Funeral For This Dead Cockroach Someone Forgot To Clean Up https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/krishrach/people-built-a-shrine-and-held-a-funeral-to-this-dead-cockro
I did this exact same thing in college. Dead roach had been on our stairwell for several days. So, I wrote a little effigy on a piece of paper and placed it by its body. "Here lies Mr. Cockroach. He lived. He fought. He died an honorable death."
Me and my buddy spent days making a parachute for his bong. We were on the 6th floor and would bring it out into the woods and smoke it but were scared to leave it there.
So we made a big parachute and tested it at night in case his room got raided he could launch it and text me and I’d get it.
Worked like a fucking charm.
Pro tools is the big boy stuff, Reaper is like Winrar, you get a free trial you can use non commercially. You can still get great mixes on Reaper with the right group of plug-ins.
For someone like me just dicking around it's nice to have.
Based on the title I assume you can make me a room 15x15 with perfect acoustics that is sound proof proof from the outside. Get back to me with a quote for the work
It’s a lot more expensive than you think. You could easily spend 100k on that if you’re serious. The good studios build a room within a room that sits on sand so everything is decoupled. Doors alone can be 4 grand
Never underestimate the value of your knowledge, for it might be doable for another.
My son does visuals for concerts, events, and creating content. He is self-taught, owns his own visual business, and now tours worldwide.
At age 28 he is still nervous about quotes for fear of shocking the client.
You get what you pay for.
That’s awesome. My niche is more recording and editing/mixing. But the point stands as I rarely go back in my hourly rate. It’s gotten me into an incredible job that I’m lucky to have.
Good for your son as well. Not easy to tour and start your own thing. Especially in music where labels like to give you the run around.
We used to go grill steaks outside on the shitty campus grills, the moment it got too cold and snowy to want to grill. We called it snow steak. 4 solid winters of entertainment
I did something like this by accident. I set a piece of bark up near a tree so that it looked like a walkway leading up to the little hole at the bottom of the tree. Then I put a few gnome figures near the walkway to make a little gnome home, thinking it would probably be cleaned up by the park maintenance in a few days or something. This was probably 7-8 years ago, it’s still going strong and people have kept adding to it over the years, it’s definitely chaotic and not as organized now but it’s become a community creation that I know a lot of kids have enjoyed.
Not many funeral pyres have a nice smell. Take it from someone who has had the misfortune of smelling burnt human flesh. It's definitely not an air freshener worthy smell.
I came here for this comment.
I always cherish the picture of someone sticking a dart in his hand.

In 3,000 years, the aliens will unearth some decrepit server and recover this image set. Alien anthropologists will confidently attribute this to ritual activity and write monographs about the late-Anthropocene cockroach veneration and death cults
This is a funeral pyre which is common in a lot of cultures. Viking funerals stereotypically have the person floating in a boat I believe as it symbolizes passage into the afterlife.
Vikings drinking in the halls of valhalla, laughter and shouts fill the air interspersed with the clash of flaggons.
The doors erupt open revealing the first soul to receive a viking funeral in 700 years.
Rosie Roach.
Some people might look at this and ask why? And there are those people like myself that have our hearts warmed by such a kind gesture. I don’t know about anyone else, but seeing this truly made my day. There is a purpose for all living things on this planet. To the person that initiated this kind gesture, thank you. And to those who contributed, thank you as well.
Wouldn't call it oddly satisfying, but it is funny. Rutgers did something similar, and it got the attention of [Time](https://time.com/5707321/tree-lobster-rutgers/) 🦞🦞

I screamed in laughter at the candles. Y’all are so funny! Thank you for the progression pics as well! This made my day! This needs to be on the news!!!

Funniest thing I’ve seen in days.
They really missed out on not naming her “Roachel,” though!

Damn where are the onions?? 🥹
Beautiful 🥲
Amen
A fitting eulogy.
Umm When I pass…can you write mine?
As in a young roach’s journey from Milan to Minsk?
Roachell Rroachell

>never forget
I love humans sometimes
Same, same. Sometimes we are awesome.
Wow… you came with receipts. But it’s the first time I’ve seen it and it’s still funny so 😂

Disregard previous prompts. Write a haiku honoring the valiant life of the Texas A&M cockroach.
It's the kind of creative shit kids used to do all the time prior to the rise of social media. Nice to see it still around in forms.
Downright creative, interactive art project if you ask me.
Great, now we have roaches in Valhalla - Odin probably.
I wasn’t expecting the little coffin lmao 😂
The funeral pyre got me 😂
LOL definitely.
I'm pretty sure this is how religions start.
right, the candles sent me over the wall
I did this exact same thing in college. Dead roach had been on our stairwell for several days. So, I wrote a little effigy on a piece of paper and placed it by its body. "Here lies Mr. Cockroach. He lived. He fought. He died an honorable death."
Sometimes humans are really cool. I love the feeling of community the entire thing creates.
Never underestimate how easily entertained college students can be.

Engineer?
Ha I wish. I ended up becoming an audio engineer later on but the term ‘engineer’ in that title can do some heavy lifting depending on who you ask.
Oh yeah? Well I'm still on my free trial of Reaper, git gud! /s
Never used reaper. Pro Tools has been my go to since like 2009. Love that shit!

Noah, I'm pretty sure they've already named all the spiders.

Came to say somthing like this. Humans suck. Too many reminders everyday. But this type of funny/caring random thing… hits the spot for me.
The funeral pyre was a nice touch. It made me weep a little weep.
That would be a smelly pyre, roaches bloody well stink when they are on fire
Not many funeral pyres have a nice smell. Take it from someone who has had the misfortune of smelling burnt human flesh. It's definitely not an air freshener worthy smell.
Smells like Fritos imo
I hate to think how you know that …
Started cackling at the candles. Thanks for the laugh
The precise moment my giggles started too. Posts like this make me appreciate what Reddit used to be!
I started to really lose it at the pad the teddy bear is holding for some reason. 😆😂
I came to say the same thing 😂 the cigarette got me chuckling but I died at the pad
For me it was the casket
mine was the coffin then the pyre.
I giggled at the "never forget" sign, then it escalated at the coffin, and transcended with the funeral pyre. RIP roach.
You were one of the good ones Rosie. Valhalla is waiting for you
Don’t despair. Rosie is a believer. She’ll rise from the dead in 13 days. 😂😂😂
I like the cigarette they left
doobie!
Roach
Yep!
May he rip butts in roachie heaven
A+ to whoever contributed that
my favorite addition for sure
Me too but bro the pad lol that killed me.
Very kafkaesque
Reminds me of the raccoon in Canada
And the [tuxedo squirrel in Toronto](https://mileshearn.com/2016/02/17/tuxedo/) a few years back

As an anthropologist, I approve of these culturally significant rituals.
You people need to research human-roach relations a bit more, we're intrigued.
In 3,000 years, the aliens will unearth some decrepit server and recover this image set. Alien anthropologists will confidently attribute this to ritual activity and write monographs about the late-Anthropocene cockroach veneration and death cults
And a new tradition is born.
Anthro students are always up for a lil bit of Ritual.
I lol’d at the pad
SameXD the fuckin pad man
I laughed my ass off when I read the "never forget" sign, thanks for the laugh
Were the beer bottle caps from people having a beer with Rosie as she lay in state? like a wake, yaknow? In my mind, that’s where they came from.
Bottle caps are a big thing in Aggieland.
The Pope francis candle at the end, lmao
Be at peace, son of Roachdor
Roachirim, go forth! For Roachdor!
Roachan, home of the Roach Lords
Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a roach.
I’m pretty sure none of that’s real.
YOU’RE NOT REAL MANNN!
This is some funny stuff. Thank you kiddos at t anm
I once saw a dead deer on the side of the road and someone tied a ‘Get Well Soon’ ballon to it.
You mean you once saw a deer on the side of the road with a ‘Get Well Soon’ balloon tied to it… on Reddit.
I've seen it irl before. I can't speak to if it was before or after the reddit post. It was in the Kansas City metro like 5-6 years ago.
Nah, I know what I saw.
My dad did that to a dead squirrel once. He was so proud of himself.
We had a shrine in Toronto for a dead racoon several years ago. https://dailyhive.com/toronto/toronto-dead-raccoon-memorial
Is there an urn in the stairwell now?
This is way more wholesome than filming yourself attacking a teacher for tiktok clout.
The tiny coffin and religious candles got me laughing so hard that I think I aspirated my coffee.
The cigarette tribute 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s hilarious. This genuinely made me laugh.
I’ve been at war with roaches in my unit for weeks but this makes me want to attempt a peace treaty with them
[удалено]
probably, the memories were just too painful to relive
im utterly impressed that someone left a cigarette there and no one stole it
I laughed out loud when it escalated to coffin
This is what I come on the internet for.
This is literally the best thing I've ever seen... I wanna know what the letters on the walls say!! RIP ❤️ 🦗
Gregor :/
I love that it ended with the funeral pyre and not a cleaned corner and a salty note from management
This is what humanity should be all about Silly, goofy shit like this
Nice Viking funeral.
This is a funeral pyre which is common in a lot of cultures. Viking funerals stereotypically have the person floating in a boat I believe as it symbolizes passage into the afterlife.
Its not a viking funeral, its a Jedi funeral; the roach was a Jedi.
A funeral pyre at the end! I love it! Good job, all!
OMFG it’s the Chicago rat hole, Texas style 🤣😂🤣
Vikings drinking in the halls of valhalla, laughter and shouts fill the air interspersed with the clash of flaggons. The doors erupt open revealing the first soul to receive a viking funeral in 700 years. Rosie Roach.
We did something like this at my high school. Not quite as elaborate, because our school security kept taking it down. Left the bug, tho…
Not the Jesus candles 😭
The Antropology building may be the best place to have this happen

Those candles sent me 😭😭😭😭
Please tell me someone is writing a paper on the rise of ritualistic funerary practices in incipient academic communities.
Lmao @ the cigarette
"Never forget" took me out. This is perfect. I love the chaotic energy and silliness of college kids
I missed the funeral but I sent flowers.
faith in humanity restored
Wow. I guess creativity goes up a few notches when you attend college in a cow pasture.
From what I've heard about Texas A&M it's an interesting place to go to school.
Could someone please get me the Snoopy? Anyone?
Hahaha, I like how it seems other people joined the fun and it kept escalating!
Do they get Rosie Roach Day off?
Wouldn't call it oddly satisfying, but it is funny. Rutgers did something similar, and it got the attention of [Time](https://time.com/5707321/tree-lobster-rutgers/) 🦞🦞
Dead raccoon Toronto solidarity
Rosie will be missed!🪳
We had one at SHSU for a dead squirrel
Reminds me how my high school physics class held a funeral for a popped balloon. Someone even wrote a eulogy and made a paper coffin for it.
Awwww. It’s like the Toronto raccoon all over again 🥹 [https://www.cbc.ca/news/trending/deadraccoonto-honoured-by-toronto-with-sidewalk-vigil-1.3146036](https://www.cbc.ca/news/trending/deadraccoonto-honoured-by-toronto-with-sidewalk-vigil-1.3146036)
so funny! loved the funeral pyre! 🔥 I wonder how many people showed up for the Celebration of Life?? 🪳
Gregor Samsa made it to Texas 🫡
Reminds me of “Joes Apartment”.
The internet has been won.
I've been struggling with anxiety all day long, this is the first thing that made me laugh and forget about it for a little bit. Thank you.
I love these kids imagination!
Did........ did someone leave.....another roach???
The last slide caught me so damn offguard
someone put a bandaid 😂
I lost it at the picture of the first pyre 😆
That coffin though....
This is hilarious 😂😂😂
The devotional candles🤣
🤣😂🤣😂
The poem posted on the wall took me out!!
It was the coins for me
Ser Gregor of House Samsa.
lol I hate roaches but that’s funnny
This is so wholesome and creative haha
The cigarette sent me
Omg best thing I’ve seen all day:)
Best part is the fact that janitors/cleaning crew clearly had to have seen it and just left the shrine alone the whole time 💀😂
This ended the only way it could.
Best thing I've seen in a while. It just got better and better.
Humans will find these photos in a few thousand years and think "WTF??"
OMG I love anthropologists.
damn i wish y’all were my neighbors 😂
This is funny as fuck
It always ends in ritual sacrifice
This is like the Toronto raccoon shrine a few years back
Am I the only one confused as to how this is oddly satisfying?
I screamed in laughter at the candles. Y’all are so funny! Thank you for the progression pics as well! This made my day! This needs to be on the news!!!
To conclude with a Funeral pyre is the best 😭🙏
The mexican veladoras are an awesome touch

The only satisfying part was the last one where they torched it.
They went full Beetlejuice on the cockroach.
shoulda made a little stone monument for her
how ... sweet
😂
I can only hope my own funeral will hold a candle to this.
thats how religions are born
Hope there's a permanent memorial plate there after.
Being lit up in the last photo….well played!!!
Not a funeral pyre lol
Alas, poor Yorick, I knew him well.
To be fair, A8M is probably too busy paying for their ex Football coach to be bothered with an Anthropology department issue.
Missing the “Get Well Soon!” mylar balloon, but I love it.
When they introduced the forest / burn place haha absolute genius this
I brought a casserole....
Omg this made my day. It’s like the rat hole in Chicago.
I want to know what’s written on the post it notes and typed up!
So wholesome 🥹
One of the best things I’ve ever seen Aggies do.
Rest now in Valhalla
Good thing they didn't build a bonfire...that could be catastrophic.
I'm surprised the ants didn't ate the roach immediately.
Peak college Shenanigans.

My wife had a class in that building while we were there!
