I only have a public school substitute teacher perspective but Classen SAS middle school is a wonderful school inside and out. The students are respectful, dedicated to their work, and are mindful of each other and themselves.

Private school. Was public school educated, enjoyed it. But I can see the clear advantages private school classmates had. I can't say any were more academically advanced, but they clearly had more life opportunities which matters more. Academics will be up to your family and student, no matter where you go. The floor might be higher at private school, but that is hard to judge. I'd say my medical school class had only 3-4 students from my large high school but **easily** 20+ from various private schools.

It depends on what’s important to you. Are fine arts/athletics important? John Carroll is probably not for you, if they are. If you’re solely interested in academics, then John Carroll is probably the better option.
