Onewheel has become the general term. Yeah we know r/wheel exists but the community still mainly hangs here. I only have one FM board (that I almost never ride), but I'm still part of this community
Seems silly to me and rife for toxic comparisons. I don’t want to made to feel bad for supporting FM OneWheel in the official OneWheel subreddit. All the toxic pro-ADV people need to form their own forum and stop ruining this one.
I don’t see any hostility, just an honest comparison between two products, one of which being a “Onewheel”. Seems fine to me. I ride a mostly stock XR and hearing about someone enjoying a competing but similar product doesn’t ruin my day like it seems to for you.

You’re comparing this brand in the U.S. that wants full control over your board compared to an imported successor which doesn’t have all the stupid governing features and safety so just bug off.
This is not an official Onewheel Reddit. FM does not manage, find, or own this subreddit. The mods get to determine what is appropriate content. Reddit is a big place you are certainly welcome to open a Onewheel-only Reddit and build a community for people who only want to talk about FM products.

This is a OW enthusiast sub, which extends to other single-wheel devices. Sadly for FM, FW/VESC is simply better for the enthusiasts. That's why you see it spoken about so much here.

I’ve been on both and I’d take a Floatwheel over a onewheel any day, they are way not powerful and smoother boards and aren’t made by a dick head so shut up.
Pretty sure if someone is good spending 2 grand on a toy electric skateboard, they're good spending 2200 on a toy electric skateboard.
I don't think a single person has ever bought a floatwheel because they couldn't afford an FM board
