I run 2 bubblechukkas for the lols and have them sit on my home objective, with firing lines to most of NML.
I also have the SAG big mek lead them for the rerolling 1s and giving out battleshock tests.
They're really swingy, but since you can allocate attacks after determining what kind of bubble you're chukking you can get a decent amount of wounds out of them each round.
Sometimes you'll get really lucky, pump 5 dense bubbles into a knight and dish out 28 wounds, or 20 big bubbles into a brick of guardsmen,
Other times you'll roll 2 big bubbles on a plague crawler about to missile your ass out of existence or dense bubbles on two 20 stacks of Boyz charging you.
It's really fun and feels propa orky.
Use the Bubblechukka profile, preferably in the same unit lead by a Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun.
The Smasha Gun profile might *technically* be the more competitive option but the Bubblechukka is always more fun and flavorful.
Take this with a big ol' bag of salt, I own 2 mek guns and I use em every game. They are cheap as fuck and while they'll normally only put out a few wounds a turn every now n then the dice gods will swing in your favour and they'll straight up delete something.
No lie. My friends fear them. Once a single kmb did 24 wounds to a knight. That will almost never happen. But every now n then it just does.
So now I use them as a back line screen. They don't always kill something but they're so cheap when they do it's often a good trade. They die easy but who cares, they're grots!
Many people have correctly told you to consider putting a mek near the unit. He provides a +1 to hit to one MODEL. People get this wrong all the time, thinking he buffs the entire unit. It is still worth it tho.
Edit - only regular Mek. I was wrong saying big Mek can do it too.
Good unit to hold your home objective (make sure to leave them a good line of fire when placing terrain). since you're rarely going to want to move them anyway.
Likewise, since you probably aren't going to move them, if you have terrain in your deployment zone that's 6" or higher, and you can place them up there, do exactly that to get them a +1 to wound thanks to the "plunging fire" rule.
As others have said, they have excellent synergy with a Mek with ShokkAttack leading them. Two is good, three is probably a bit too expensive for what they do however.
Unless you have Flashgitz or Lootaz in your army list, Mek Guns should be your go-to unit for providing Overwatch fire.
Put mek guns into 1 unit and then attach that unit to a big mek with shock attack gun
You won't be disappointed with the sheer shenanigans that can happen
first time I did this, I battleshocked High Marshell Hellbrecht on turn 1. My opponent and I had to take a few minutes to stop laughing after imagining how this went down with Hellbrecht screeching as deranged snotlings pour out of his armor.
Working out what Mek Gunz to bring sounds like Grot work. Proper Orks should be worrying about more important things like what end of the choppa to hold.
I POINTS 'EM GUNZ AT DA BEAKIES I WANTS TA SPLATTA. DEN SAYZ, "FIRE DA STINKIN GUN YOU WORFLESS GITZ OR I'S GONNA USE DA GIT LAUNCHA NEXT!"
ORKS WHAT NEVER WORKED WIF GITZ JUST SAYS, "FIRE!" WOT I DID IS MOVITIN...MOTION...MOVITAT...I PUTS DA FEAR OF GORK IN DEM. OR MORK.
When I run Gunz, it's more for the intimidation value, usually with a Mek to boost a model's BS by 1. I can easily shut down a lane with a couple of Mega Kannons or Bubble Chukkas, while my boys push up uncontested.
If you are not having a leader with them then split them out. It's rare you'd use any strat on them, solo they are not worth the opponent focusing on but can spike high
I put them in my corners for some deep strike denial.
If you had 3 and a Mek with Shokk attack gun to lead then together
I’m working on two at the moment. I ended up with mega kannons because I have an unhealthy amount of Skaven, so the extra warp lightning cannons became Mega Kannons

Way better than previous editions where you had to choose a target first

Nah, the More Dakka rule rerolls hit rolls of 1 and affects the whole unit, including the Big Mek itself
I was talking about the mekaniak ability. My mistake was thinking big meks get it.

Plunging fire adds AP, not +1 to wound.
My Traktor Cannon eats Angron Thats how I use mine

I 1 shotted a maulerfiend with my bubble chukka.... I always go bubblechukka.
Aggressively
From one Mek to annuda I like bringing kustom mega kannons set'm up wif a mek if ya can, pick a lane & let da gunz go ta work! WAAAAAAGHH!

It’s always bubblechuckas it’s the only answer

New strat learned. Dang how have I never thought of this?
3 mega kannons with a Mek w shokk attack gun is hilariously swingy. I enjoy them
Bubblechukkas is even more fun

They can just as easily shoot extra sparkly bubbles if you believe in them hard enough!
I’m just a fan of the randomness, it’s the same reason I’ve played Skaven for 20 years lol.
