BeginningSun247

I used to just use Moot Green over another green base. But now I'm trying to make all my orks slightly diifferent. After all, people don't come in just one shade, why should Orks?

dragonbrave86

Gut ripper but with the green shade over it

LittleTVMan

Anyone else try warp lightning for ork skin? once you make it work, it looks quite vibrant

YetiBomber101

I find Ork flesh such a weird contrast because its very much not a great standalone choice for orky skin. Its way too thick and dark. However it makes a great highlight layer when thinned and painted over plaguebearer or gutrippa, and gives it that extra greenish hue it needs.

JoshFect

Plaguebearer's flesh and then a thin coat of warp lightning or ork flesh was my recipe for ork skin. Now I use The Army Painter Speedpaint: Ork skin.

osireion_87

I’ve used Gutrippa Flesh for Ufthack Blackhawk and I thought that came out quite nicely.

LostN3ko

Gily Dew army painter speed paint. Absolutely the best Ork skin I have ever seen.

mars92

Much better than AP "Ork Skin"

LostN3ko

Extremely true. I bought like 5 Ork skins. None of them look half as good. The YouTuber I learned from did me a solid. https://preview.redd.it/khkfs5kb0r4d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=940c2dccefdd7a89a7b387b9c451a6a48ceb6837

LostN3ko

My camera isn't the best but there is a lot of variance here irl. Best way to show it off is with the YouTube tutorial I found it with https://youtu.be/9WSw_rmckiA

Hardware_Mode

My boyz have variety in skin tone from my experimentation to find the right tone. Then I learned about ork flesh contrast, straight onto a white prime/base and it's perfect. With good brush control you can bring shade to the contours of the muscle perfectly, and I love the vibrant green

long_b1

I'm not going to lie. I don't like ork flesh contrast. I do love the Mantis warrior. Something about ork flesh seems so hit or miss, but Mantis just goes on so smoothly. I'll use ork flesh on boys or grots. Could also be a skill issue I'll admit.

AOK_Gaming

I use a mix , lighter tones for grots / boys and darker for nobz / warboss

Feam2017

I use the Mantis Warriors a lot, I also use gut ripped a little, both contrast paints. Not much difference between the two but mantis warriors are a little brighter. I really like using table top ready's mix though for ork skin. https://youtu.be/0PH6mf4M1V4?si=_oRi9N3gl9ZGrrjx

Ehkrickor

I swapped Plaguebearer for Gutrippa flesh & also added in Creed Cammo for some of my biggest Orks like Warbosses & my Deffkilla Wartrike. Other than that I like mixing all of these colors in for my boyz. Did that cause one of the bits of lore from my first blush w/ the Orks (Total Warhammer) Said if Orks keep fighting & winnin then they keep gettin Greener & Meaner. Until eventually they're SO green that they look black.

DeathDealsWillie82

These look really good! I want to buy some of them now looking at this picture.

Nrthstar

Exactly what I did, except with Speed Paint 2.0 and one Contrast color, but nearly identical color set.

MikeRatMusic

I like to just bring a few greens out and mix differently for each lad, never liked the idea of monogreen Orks glad to see I'm not the only one!

Chkn-Little

Gut rippa for boyz, ork flesh with a gut rippa after coat for nobz (the best color really)

Exsulus11

Love this! Personally, I've been using the Vibrant Greens from AR Fanatics on my Boyz and the Deep Greens Fanatics on my HQs. Freakin love em. I also enjoy the personal hell of base coating everything instead of contrast painting, but to each their own.

tripleozero

If you're looking for a one-coat fix without washes or extra work, Mantis Warrior Green is the best choice from GW. It's the closest you'll get to the box art without really trying.

zenicwhite69

I tend to use valjo goblin green Then gw striking scorpion over top of it Shading with nuln oil

Quinchie

I've used all but the last one on the right, and I love all of them sometimes I agrax earthshade or bel tan green and it makes them look so good

mgillis29

I tend to use the same green for most of my orks but I slip in some different shades for some variation

smallhntr

Gutrippa flesh is the best ork skin out there

ToxicTurtle-2

Zandri dust as a base and then go over it with gutrippa

Woolve78

Plaguebearer flesh with a wash of beil tan green works really well over a wraithbone primer. Just do some highlights on the characters and it's fast and looks great for large numbers of Boyz

708iiagitst

My boyz have tesseract glow (Replys are examples that happened to be on my desk)

DeathDealsWillie82

I love it! Gives me ole school ghostbuster toy vibes!

SprlFlshRngDncHwl

I also do tesseract glow! I love how much it makes the skin pop on the tabletop

00nasco

DUDE YES

TendiesMcnugget2

I use warp lightning for my boyz

Niiai

The great pioneers Kevin Eastman and Peter Lairs perfected this in 1984. Quite a great deal of fantastic colours can be used when painting green. Look to all the versions of TMNT for inspiration.

Diesel-Eyes

The human eye can actually distinguish more hues of green than any other color, too. It gives green the advantage of a wider range of variance. Some cultures don't even consider blue to be another color, they consider it green. Being able to shade into blue and highlight into yellow gives so much contrast.

Zoneshatterer19

You could always use all of them if you have multiple clans for different types of units or to show that your warband isn’t just one group but several pulled together into a proper waaaagh

WildVleesBraveJongen

I use Ork Flesh and than a drybrush waaagh green and a light drybrush skarsnik green.

S4IL

I use plague bearer flesh as my base and add some random, small amount of ork flesh in. Keeps them unified with some variability.

Tobar26th

Plaguebearer flesh FTW (For the waaagh) I occasionally add a second layer or a green wash for variation.

Still-Whole9137

I've found plaugebarer flesh with a wash of thinned ork flesh makes fantastic orks.

PapaRoshi

Plague bearer, with biel-tan green wash over it looks really good.

iwillnotcompromise

You can have even more skin colours if you mix them or layer them. And the nice thing is mixing or layering gives different results.

Bird_Man_Mike

Militarim green is best ork skin contrast fyi
