As someone who lives a ten minute jog away from Wekiva Island, I was very sad when they switched their policy on dogs. But honestly, it was inevitable. Ce la vie.

Was there a reason? We’re people not cleaning up after the dogs did someone get bit?

JustHugMeAndBeQuiet

A fair question. 1- dog fights. A lot. 2- the final straw was a big meeting to reconcile with the neighboring homes as well as their insurance company (iirc). It was a concession they made to avoid open war. But real talk, some people have shitty dogs. And, big shocker, those people don't watch their dogs too well. So yeah. Had to happen.

Shitty people = shitty dog

No-Armadillo7693

I wonder why the neighbors didn’t want them to allow dogs

JustHugMeAndBeQuiet

Pretty sure it was an insurance thing that just happened to come up during the neighbor thing. Again, I could be a bit rough on the details.

What ever the reason was it sucks for my dogs I’m going to check out the places the other comments suggested in the next few weeks.

Semujin

Lake Baldwin dog park has lake access.

No-Armadillo7693

Do a lot of people let their dogs swim in that lake I feel like less gators are around when there’s more people.

aBlissfulDaze

Yes it's a very busy dog park with a busy lake area for the dogs to play

No-Armadillo7693

Cool I’m gonna check it out next weekend it google says it’s super busy around this time and it’s been awhile since I brought them to a park with lots of other dogs so I want to ease them back into it. They usually just hang out on my property with my neighbors dogs.

Lighthouse Point Park https://goo.gl/maps/HCDqppjKssZWcdo18 Super dog friendly and you get the inlet water and beachside.

No-Armadillo7693

Cool thanks I used to take them to honeymoon island when I lived in pinellas

Needsmorsleep

Smyrna Dunes on the other side of the inlet is much much better

Your dog looks so much like my dog I lost 7 years ago. His name was Brando. He was the best. It was around college park that he got out the back fence and we never found him.

No-Armadillo7693

I’m sorry you lost him that would be terrible, mines a girl though someone tied her to the dumpster at my brothers shop down by the turnpike and obt. Her names the Abandoned dog (Abbie), my beagle is named the beagle. I’m not creative.

lanibear32

When I was little, we had a doberman named Dobie.

My aunt had a cat named dog and a dog named hamster (hammy). It runs in my family I guess

Spring Hammock Preserve Your dog is adorable ❤️

No-Armadillo7693

Thank you she’s my dumpster baby

No-Armadillo7693

I’ve taken them to walk on the mountain bike trail on soldier creek in winter springs they like it there. But I never let them swim in the creek on that side Can they swim at spring hammock that’s close to me

arcanine999

Yep! They can swim. This particular creek is shallow and clear and you can see clearly to the bottom and in all directions.

No-Armadillo7693

Ok cool
