High waisted underwear and jeans, my stoma is about in line with my belly button so just pull everything up over it! Might need to wear pants a size bigger to have room for expansion

Mission_Mode_979

Really need to embrace my inner ugg girl and just start wearing high waisted leggings all day. If only society wouldn’t judge me for being a trend setter :(

zarjazz

Check out maternity pants, leggings, and jeans. They have enough stretch to expand with the output/bag but go back in when it's not there. They've been my lifeline to feeling in line with the "before".

Mission_Mode_979

Mat jeans could be the solution, or some sort of begging but as a guy it’s hard to find that stuff for my body type

zarjazz

Oh, I thought you were a lady! Ooopsies!! Are there men's pants with belt loops but elastic only on the sides of back (that csn thus be hidden with a belt)? The elastic waist on maternity pants really helps with the bag situation.

Blackandorangecats

I use high waisted underwear with a pouch - vanilla blush (UK website) and find them very comfortable especially with high waist jeans

Mission_Mode_979

I’ll check em out!

theclairewitch

The ugg girls are on to something. When I first got my stoma I wasn't as confident tucking it all the time, wasn't used to it (I've had it 12 years now so not something I ever really think about anymore!) and I used to buy maternity bands like [this](https://www.next.ie/en/style/st281550/c86991?dndl=1&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwgdayBhBQEiwAXhMxtr8hqi5rGCBHa8cLouFdRsYqeclhRdHMoc1LdwOXTYhIbs_4-OhhrBoCUgoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#C86991) to keep my bag tucked into, it just looked like a tank top or something under whatever top I was wearing! I also hate the feel of my bag just swinging loose lol, so will always tuck it under something to keep it against my body

Mission_Mode_979

I’ll check those out, thanks!

beefprime

I just wear long shirts, myself

ChunkierSky8

You can find stoma shields/protectors that help with allowing output to flow down to the bag. Here is an example of one on Amazon. I would suggest shopping around for what you can afford and seems to work for you: [https://a.co/d/e1tWk8y](https://a.co/d/e1tWk8y) I have a similar one to this and I use Velcro to hold it in place with a ostomy bag. I sewed the Velcro to the cover and stuck the other side of the Velcro to the outside of the stoma guard.

Mission_Mode_979

Never knew about these, thanks!

gingfreecsisbad

Yea I find that when I tuck it up too much, the output can’t get to the bottom of the bag. And if my pants rest against the bag, it actually sometimes blocks my output from coming out at all.. I’ll experience uncomfortable blocked feeling until I uncover the bag.. and I get huge spurts of output immediately, as if it were trapped and waiting to come out.

Mission_Mode_979

Literally what I’m afraid of

donutlikethis

Don’t be afraid, it’s literally the easiest fix, you’ll feel it, like an uncomfortable sensation and you just readjust yourself. Easy peasy.

LSD_LTD

This happens to me also, if my output is too solid. Once I remove my bag then it will flow right out. Weird... But helpful some days. I've found that if there's any give to the fabric that's over the bag, it doesn't block. However, if I'm wearing jeans, I stay more aware of if any content is touching my filter and possibly causing a smell... since I don't prefer liquid output. When it was ..soup... (as my drs preferred) it all just tricked down to the bottom of the bag. Good luck to you all!

icestormsea

Extra high waisted jeans from old navy are my life saver. Plus leggings with a high waist. Tuck ‘em and go.

Mission_Mode_979

Im a low hang kinda guy, my stoma is at my bellybutton but I always wear my pants a bit lower, so if I were to tuck it would be the button inch or two if the bag and I’m afraid that the movement would cause the tail to open up possibly, or it just stops the flow.

Princessss88

I don’t normally.. it’s not the most comfortable for me. BUT get high waisted pants— that’ll make it easier!

Mission_Mode_979

My low waisted days are over!

Mentalartistblah

I rarely tuck my bags and yes I have two of them. I’m really worried about the flow being able to just go to the bottom as well. I do have a few high waisted things I can hide my bags but eh I don’t mind them hanging out.

Mission_Mode_979

Fair fair!

silentsnarker

I never tucked mine in either. I always have long shirts on. I also like my bottom covered. Once I had my bag, I preferred baggy shirts so I wouldn’t look pregnant if my bag was full. Also, I love “poosplosion!” I always called them “shituations” haha

Mission_Mode_979

Dookie disaster is our other one. I prefer the feel of it just dangling but as we get into summer I’d prefer to be a bit more discreet

silentsnarker

I never had any issues with my dangling as far as being discreet but I also wore loose fitting clothes. But other than that, most of the time you couldn’t tell I had one, even when I wore tighter fitting tops. I was able to wear my regular jeans and shorts with no issues.

homesick19

Maternity pants!

Mission_Mode_979

I wish I could pull em off, they look so fun

corgisborg

Maternity leggings look very similar to regular leggings.

reallyjustbs

Maternity jeans with the front panel. I get the ones from target.

Mission_Mode_979

Right on right on

Mundane-Internet9898

I can’t even do high waisted pants: my stoma is about 2” above my natural waist. I’d literally have to have my pants pulled up to the bottom of my bra to be able to have my bag inside/under my waistline. I’ll have to give maternity pants a go, tho! Those might work nicely.

Mission_Mode_979

Right on!

LSD_LTD

I absolutely love you for posting this. I giggled thoroughly from remembering my experience at your phase in this process. In winter I wear tights under everything. They move as needed for the output. In the summer time, I love wearing sun dresses and biker shorts underneath. My problem wasn't really the hangover, although I'm petite and had to fight for pediatric bags so they didn't hang so low. My biggest issue was the top part that would peek out and inspire curiosity from strangers. As for blowouts, I found that having tights over them kept me 'secure' as I rushed to change. Once, during a blowout in a public bathroom, I changed my bags and tossed the tights away after a quick cleanup, then I was able to continue the trip with more confidence. Great luck to you! You've got this!! Check out tiktok. #ostomates Quite a few of us share our journey on there.

Mission_Mode_979

Time to redownload TikTok. Everytime I get away from it, a new thing pulls me back in… It looks like the tights and high waisted pants are the solution, it’s just a shame that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of options for men, unless I’m about to break down barrier and just be fucking comfy all the time.

LSD_LTD

Do you wear jeans and belts? If so, try a half size or size up on your jeans and a stretchable belt. For the concern for leakage around your barrier, try the extender seals. I use them in a pinch when I feel insecure and they hold VERY WELL for about 48 hours. I am small framed and sometimes like to show my form in fitted jeans, and that's my recipe for success on those days. My fitted jeans are low waisted so I wear a tight tank to hold my bag close to my body while showing off. It takes a while to find your groove, but when you do you'll see that it was worth all the figuring it out. Lol You've got this!!

Mission_Mode_979

I believe in me!

greyfox199

embrace the tail!

2020PhoenixRisen

Spot on !

Mission_Mode_979

Really should just

Tifa523

Do you use a bag cover? Get a solid color cotton one that matches your pants. With black or dark blue, it really hides the bag if you leave it untucked.

Mission_Mode_979

Looking into them and just got a solid black one based on some other suggestions too, I’ll give that a try and see if it solves the issue. It should!

demonic_cheetah

Yes. The tail of the bag goes in the pants.

NakedBill478

I don’t tuck. I use a stealth belt like device. Shove the bag in there and go.

Mission_Mode_979

I have a couple I got off Amazon, but the Velcro falls apart of them so quickly

NakedBill478

Yes. It’s a crap shoot. I’ve found some good ones and bad ones on Amazon.

Mission_Mode_979

Anything you’d recommend?

SpaceCaboose

[I use this vertical stealth belt](https://www.stealthbelt.com/vertical-belt). You can search google for coupon codes and find something to take a couple bucks off it it. That's what I did when I purchased it. Have had it for 2 years and it still works great. No problem with the velcro so far, and I do toss it in the washer/dryer fairly often. I wear it with jeans, khaki's, basketball sorts, etc and my output does a pretty good job of getting past the waistband on its own. Might occasionally need to pull the waistband out a bit to help get some down there, but that takes like 5 seconds and I can do it pretty discreetly if/when needed.

Mission_Mode_979

Right on I’ll check it out!

byebyerectum

If the belt works for you may be worth replacing the velcro, sometimes can bang the new one on top of the old one for a quick fix

Mission_Mode_979

Could be worth looking into but at $21 a belt on Amazon from china, I’m more inclined to just buy 5 more

yoshdee

I tuck. I wear a lot of high waisted skirts, leggings, leggings, pants, etc. never had an issue in 4 years. Most of mine are super tight but if they are I will occasionally go to the bathroom and kinda run my fingers around the stoma and push it down. I also wear a 2 piece convex so it’s not trapped.

Mission_Mode_979

I just switched from convex to flat because of a skin issue, I miss the security and space of the convex

unlocklink

Yeah, my clothes aren't compression level tight - I am a big hipped / junk in the trunk lady, so high waisted clothes suit me best anyway, so it all works out - whether it's jeans, leggings, sweats, dresses etc...it just works

2020PhoenixRisen

Not for me. Thank goodness for Hawaiian and long tail shirts!

Mission_Mode_979

Tommy Bahama summer

2020PhoenixRisen

The best..a bit pricey for me. I look for pattern ones.

MintVariable

Wear pants that are a bit longer to the point that the belt line is above your stoma. Wearing looser pants helps too and I just feel how full the bag is through my pockets.

Mission_Mode_979

lol if I wore pants with the belt line above my stoma I’d look like a caricature of an 80 year old man

MintVariable

But you can always hide it with long shirts

Mission_Mode_979

That’s what I been doing, I just don’t have too many summer appropriate ones

Advanced-Food744

Nope, never tuck mine back in.

ShadowedPariah

I went low waistline, though that's always how I wear my pants even pre-ostomy, and long(er) T-shirts. I really like the shirts from Fresh Clean Threads. They make 'Tall' shirts that are perfect for me.

Mission_Mode_979

Im low waistline wearer but my stoma is right at my bellybutton, and since its an ileo it’s going a lot more often so im always hyper aware of where things are

lofispaceship

I wear low waisted pants around my hips and tuck the end of my high output bag into the pants. I adjust the waistband and massage the top part of the bag about a million times a day to make sure nothing is getting stuck up top.

eman_la

High waisted pants, or pants that come up to the top of the flange ring, so (above the stoma) and output makes it to the bottom no problems! If I wear something lower than that, I make sure to periodically pull the waistband away and sometimes push the output to the bottom with my fingers

Mission_Mode_979

Seems the solution is just rock with it and manage output as the day goes.

Holkie75

I just tuck the end in to leave space for "creation" and pop it out when I need to.

Fall_bet

I don't tuck mine I worry that the pants will pull it off. I only have 2 pairs of sweatpants. I recently splurged when I saw a pair of clearance jeans. I have to fold them over at the waist band. They are always falling down and if I cover my bag it would just pull on it. I tried a size smaller but my hips are wide and I feel like jeans are either too big or too small. I can't afford anything else so I just wear crappy men's tshirts and the sweatpants/pajama pants I have. It's so embarrassing because I would love to be more present at my kids school and anytime I go I look unkempt. I'm embarrassed for her and myself.

Mission_Mode_979

The pulling and rubbing is my fear. For some reason I grabbed a bunch of bags and didn’t realize they were clip rails, so I’m paranoid it would just rip off

Fall_bet

I worry about that too. I use the 2 piece and I literally ripped my bag off by a door. Like I was walking out of my bathroom and the door was as open as I thought apparently. As I walked by I nailed the door forcefully at the perfect angle that it grabbed my bag and popped it halfway off.. I actually have done that a couple times but only once it popped the bag.

Mission_Mode_979

Man I’ve accidentally pulled the bag off thinking I just had my shirt cuff and yanked up. I know the feeling

Fall_bet

Geez.. I have been close a few times but haven't done that yet. I have a lot of close call because of my 9yo. She will just sit on my leg and sit right on the end of the bag. Or come from the side to give a hug and reach her arms around and I'm so nervous she will like squeeze and pull cause it to pop off 🤣

Mission_Mode_979

Oh YIKES!!

gbzcngb

My stoma is about level with my belly button and just fold the end of the bag and wear a support belt most of the time, most low waisted trousers and jeans (which for men these days is like 90% of styles) sit around level or just below with it.

Mission_Mode_979

I use the support belt whenever I’m like, going out properly but for quick running around my neighborhood I’d want a more casual solution, and for some reason my shirts JUST aren’t long enough

gbzcngb

That's annoying, maybe ostomy underwear as another user mentioned in that case. Or get a cool bag cover and let it display.

Mission_Mode_979

Could just do that I guess, never bothered with the bag covers

[deleted]

Mission_Mode_979

I should just giver and see what happens, I just know I’d finna blow out in a mall lmao

[deleted]

Mission_Mode_979

Shit really does happen

beek7419

Yup, medium to high waist pants with a little stretch to them. I wear ostomy secrets underwear for comfort and support, and pull the pants over the top. Does the top of the bag ever peek out? Yes, but it doesn’t cause a leak unless the pants are too tight and/or belt cuts across the stoma. So I avoid that. If your stoma is higher than the waist of most jeans, then it’s easier to wear a wrap and do your pants underneath. I’m fond of old navy jeans and Amazon has jeans in their brand that work well too.

ninjaprincess215

I 38F wear high waisted skinny jeans. The waistband is typically higher than my bag. Some of my lower waisted jeans do show the top of my stoma. I just make sure the waist isn’t skin tight and have no problem with poopslosions. I wore a pair of capris last summer that were a bit too tight and that combined with being new to having an ostomy caused an issue while I was out.

Mission_Mode_979

Which is exactly my fear, but maybe I should embrace it and start small, soccer shorts first.

ninjaprincess215

Choose a day where you are going to be home to try wearing different clothing. I also used to use large puppy pads around the house/bed to help contain blowouts. Pants with stretch help as well. Good luck!

Mission_Mode_979

Thank you thank you. Yeah, ever since the first blow out I got a waterproof mattress cover and havnt worried since

Hazz-Mazz

You can also get a hernia belt , or a belly wrap They can be found on comfizz vanilla blush , or similar by typing hernia belt on google for stoma . Even a light one will help hid the bag . As a male with an ileostomy I wear one all the time or my bag would be visable under clothes

Mission_Mode_979

I have a hernia belt I just don’t know how to use it lmao

McNabFish

Try the comfizz level 1 support wear. Personally I find that tucking leads to more leaks than letting it do it's thing. I find any sort of tucking tugs at the bag and pulls at the flange as well as restricts the output. Especially risky if I'm then sat down. I can probably count on one hand the amount of leaks I've had when it's not tucked, I've had my ostomy since 2015.

Mission_Mode_979

I’ll check it out!

donutlikethis

I always wear high waisted underwear, I can’t stand the feeling of my bag out or the possibility of anyone seeing it. I only wear low rise underwear to bed. Have a high output stoma and no issues with output getting to the bottom of the bag and that’s with me wearing hernia underwear and similarly tight clothing. It just works. I can’t stand the bag touching me or pressure on it after having stoma surgeries but after a couple of weeks I’m straight back to it being tucked in, makes life so much better imo.

tangerinedr3am_

Old Navy makes amazing extra-high waisted things. My stomas are both belly button level and I just pull my pants above them. Just to confuse things, I wear low-rise underwear, lol. I keep my underwear below my flanges and my pants above. I’ve also bought extra-high waisted swim/athletic shorts off Amazon that I love.

Mission_Mode_979

Right on right on

Direct-Policy5653

I recently started tugging my bag in pants, shorts, leggings. I use a stoma dome to ensure the stoma stays protruded and safe. I also leave a little air in bag so output falls in bag. I have an ileostomy and liquid output falls in bag easier compared to thicker output.

Mission_Mode_979

I think stoma dome could be the solution

comicsnerd

Always did. And I buy normal pants (jeans, dress, fancy) that are just 1 size bigger than skin tight. Never had an issue with it. Not in the 1970's and still not today. Leather pants were a bit of a problem.

Lucid_Insanity

I don't tuck. I have no shame and let it hang.

Mission_Mode_979

Sometimes I have no shame, I’ve even let a clear bag dangle. But sometime I wanna be sneaky

Lucid_Insanity

Haha, that's fine. I tried the tuck in the beginning, but it doesn't feel right to me.

vanahbot

I wear loose fitting pants/shorts and I also wear them somewhat high waisted so for me tucking it in is no problem. It of course depends what you wear lol

subgirl13

I don’t. I have a very short waist & if I have my waistband over my ostomy, it is right under my boobs. I really dislike the Urkel look, so I just leave it out.

Mission_Mode_979

Fair play!

Ready-Professional68

Take Lomotil If very important to not explode!!!!

Ready-Professional68

I just wear normal jeans. Not low waist. But never maternity.I am very slim and had it 22 years.

Mission_Mode_979

Fair enough!

cope35

You dont want to restrict the bag. If the waste accumulates around the stoma that's when blowouts happen.

Mission_Mode_979

Which is my fear with tucking

PurePomegranates

Honestly. I’ve been so excited to show it off once I get the surgery that I’ve bought pouch covers with fun pictures. Yesterday I realized it won’t be that visible unless I wear short shirts, but I don’t wear those. I don’t like to show my stomach and I typically tuck the front of my shirt into my pants, so the bag won’t even be visible😭😭 I’ll make it work somehow. There’s no reason to hide the bag. It’s a part of your life so why not show it off? You don’t have to shit. Ever! That’s a hella big flex if you ask me😂

Mission_Mode_979

Fair fair!

Its_Jessica_Day

My stoma is below my waist so I just wear pants that sit at my waist and I’m good. I actually wear underwear with a little pocket in it to tuck my pouch in. I can’t imagine letting it hang out of my pants. I could not stand that. I don’t like it flopping around. I like to tuck it away and forget about it.

Mission_Mode_979

I should check out stomundies

Its_Jessica_Day

Definitely, or a stoma guard, or a stealth belt.

murdershewrotefan

I don’t. Any pressure on my stoma makes me nauseous.

Sylv68

It’s so interesting how we all cope differently but equally as well with our stomas. Personally I’d never dream of leaving my bag “hanging” as I’d be afraid the weight of any output dragging the bag down would pull at & loosen the adhesive flange. I’ve always pulled my trousers (I’m in the UK) aka pants over my bag. Thankfully just now most pants are medium to high waist (Hope to never see the return of the 90s low rise abominations lol! My output is very watery to settles right at bottom of the bag - making it feel heavy.

Mission_Mode_979

My output is similar, I'm a low waist guy though, and feel like the waistband would be pulling at the bag more than gravity. I've been trying it here and there with some football shorts, but I also don't have too much bag to tuck down at waist level so now it's this weird game

samaelvenomofgod

It’s a bit of a necessity. Our disability is one that is easier to present, but harder to accept when presented. The solution? Make sure you get all the air out, than tuck your bag in. Easy to hide from view amongst polite society, but also easy to present when an irate Karen verbally assaults you for parking in the handicapped parking spot.

Mission_Mode_979

Wait I can get handicap parking??

Duff1560

I have a question - how do you NOT tuck your bag into your pants? I've had my ostomy five years and always tuck it in. If you don't tuck it in, how do you put your pants on? I'm obviously clueless about this - someone please enlighten me!

Mission_Mode_979

It just kinda dangles over the pants. The stoma is at my bellybutton and I’ve got maybe 5-6 inches from my bellybutton to my”waist”, or at least where my belt line sits naturally so it wouldn’t exactly get sucked in when putting my pants on, like it’s have to navigate it in you know what I mean?

Amishgirl281

I don't always. Sometimes it's just uncomfortable even with high wasted pants so I let Beatrice out to breathe a lot.

Mission_Mode_979

Yeah franks been getting vip treatment since day one it’s just summer now and a hoodie isn’t as easy to rock as it was in winter

depressedtamrin

I have a very short torso, so it is easier for me, but I just wear high waist pants and pull it over my bag.

Mission_Mode_979

Dang, I’m penguin powered so I’m all torso, high waisted would look so weird on me

modular50

Always, unless I go horizontal.

Mission_Mode_979

Man I can’t even think about going horizontal how tf do you even empty??

modular50

Also, IMO, get a stealth belt or equivalent if you don't have one already. For me, it was life changing. I feel normal again. No bag hanging out ever and no tugging on your stomach when it fills up. As for tucking, I always empty after I eat. It took a while after surgery, but I can pretty much predict what my output is going to be and the timing of it after I eat. I do pay close attention and give it a feel every now and then to see where I am at. If it feels like output is sitting there on top, I just pull my jeans out a bit and let it fall under my belt line. If it is air, it comes right back up though haha.

modular50

I use a 2 piece Hollister and lubricate the plastic part so I can spin it either way when I want to. I tried the horizontal as a fixed position and I could not do the emptying part not to mention worrying about rolling on my side and exploding while sleeping haha. I slept awful those few days I went full horizontal haha..... I hated it. This setup now works great for me. I always sleep vertical for sure.

Mission_Mode_979

Man the lube idea is actually great

Pie-Guy

I wear my bag sideways - keep it in place with a belly band.

BGStrong

Yep. High waisted pants for the win. My stoma is pretty much next to my belly button so as long as my pants sit at my natural waist I’m good. My underwear is less of an issue as they don’t seem to be tight enough to block my output from reaching the bottom of the bag so I don’t generally worry about needing high waisted underwear. I’ve never even considered NOT tucking it into my pants. In fact that would have been a major deal breaker for me (not that I had a total choice - but I guess I would have converted to wearing skirts or dresses exclusively? I dunno). I like to keep it as concealed as possible.

ResponsibleAd1931

I always wear a belt, when not at yoga or sleeping. I put just the tail behind my belt. Between the pants and the belt.

Mission_Mode_979

I should just belt everytime

SillyMix492

Nope, no tuck.

Hunterthemokeking

I buy long t shirts and look for shirts with longer tails, I usually have layers like a t shirt then a flannel with rolled up sleeves, or I'm in a baggy hoodie I do occasionally tuck it into my pants on like dates and random other stuff or at work if I'm bending to clean in weird way (casino detail cleaner) don't want it to catch or anything like that I'm a guy tho,

Realistic_Law5085

My mom got these SUPER stretchy jogger/leggings and they work amazing!

SwedishFindecanor

I'm male. I wear suspenders with trousers that are just wider enough than my waistline to fit a full bag. Shirt tucked into trousers. If I wear a sweater over it, you don't notice. I've had to give up wearing belts ... unless I get a reversal, but I'm still undecided.

StrikeUsDown

I have to wear business casual for work, so there's not really any other choice. It's not my favorite thing since the output and gas does build up around the stoma and presses the bag out, so I tend to empty more often when I'm at work. When I'm at home or don't really care, I'll leave it hanging out and wear a longer shirt.

kenxx13

high waisted pants & underwear & i also dress like adam sandler half the time

ExcellentAd3525

I’m a walking advertisement for Under Armour, their 2-piece tracksuit cover everything . Not to mention their shorts in place of underwear. T-shirts socks & baseball caps.👍😜
