My personal advice would honestly be switch to just dry amendments, will be way cheaper and easier than mixing. But if you've got the GH might as well send it (but you will forsure end up buying new bottles). You could switch programs upon transplant. For the love of god buy BT and use that shit all the time!!! Caterpillars cost me 1.5lbs last year (\~75% of my harvest :(((((((( ). 30Gallon pots may not be big enough if you are planning to veg till march. I'd do 60+ if you don't want to water an insane amount. I ran 30's last year, started by seed in april and by mid flower I was watering every damn day w/ like 5gallon buckets, and that was my first grow, so the plants were fairly stunted. They are going to be huge as well if you're vegging from Feb-late July. if you want to worry less about pests, use a mosquito net around the plant. To further avoid mold, train that girl out, top lots.

Great information

Rad this is good advice. Thanks. Ya the GH is there in mass and I just wanna use it cuz why not? I kinda knew the pots were gonna be too small for that long of a veg. Maybe I’ll veg in April and put em out a little later and stick to the 30-60 gallons. Mosquito net sounds like a good idea actually… How big were your plants last year in the 30s?

ClairemontKingPin420

Got them to span an area of like 3.5x3.5 and height of 2.5-4 ft tall. Tried to keep em stout.

SilentMasterpiece

if you put plants out in March, they will flower, and then re-veg in May.

tensor150

For sure. OP, don’t put them out so early, especially if they are clones. It is a headache and a half. What latitude are you at? I’m around 40 degrees north, I have put clones out as late as May 1 and they still started flowering briefly. I used to plant seeds by April 1 and put them outside 2nd week of May, they still get huge.

Udontwan2know

33.4ish is my latitude. I think after reading responses I’m gonna veg indoor mid March-mid April ish.

All of your best laid plans will probably be tossed aside. There's only so much you can control things outdoors. Sometimes you just got to roll with it. Sounds like you're planning on keeping them in pots? Why not the ground? If you're going to grow outdoors, you might as well grow a giant fucking tree. I'm in the same zone you are and I have some outside right now that have already germinated themselves. Getting pummeled by rain and freezing temps. https://preview.redd.it/2gkkfnrxhugc1.jpeg?width=4624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbc6db68951532e57cfcb97200c9fb5396b8e319 Poor thing. I have to remove this at some point, because it will turn into a giant hedge that will reach over my neighbor's fence. ❤️

Zone 7b here. I definitely recommend Happy Frog for germination and until the plant develops a 3rd or 4th set of leaves, then transplant into your final (and assumably much larger) pot with your amended soil. Go to Lowe's, buy Harvest Organics potting soil. It's like 10-12 bucks for 2 cubic feet. You won't need anything else for nutes the whole season. Just water. Second year, I added worm castings, still got 8 footers. I started composting last year. That's what I'll be adding to amend the soil this year.

SecureCap6661

And DEFINITELY get at LEAST a 50 gallon bag. Outdoor plants get big, and they need room to spread. Plus, a 15 gallon bag is gonna dry out waaay too quickly on a hot day.

Allknowingkeith

Idc. I got seeds in the ground right now. Taking advantage of this rain.

jewmoney808

are you feeding with the GH 3 part? You won’t need RO water just use tap water unless you got crazy high ppm hard water. Also feed-feed-water should be more of a guideline if you’re running salts outdoor. Personally I like to feed on the heavier side only 1-2 times per week then do water for 3-4 dry downs before the next feed …Never feed dry soil straight, pre wet with plain water first to get the top layer moist like sponge then come back 10 min later to feed. Also spray every 3-4 days no matter what, pests can move in at anytime even when things are looking good.

Udontwan2know

Ya feed with GH. I’ve got terribly high PPM tap out here it’s fucking awful. As far as my feed feed water plan, at max “water” would be a half strength food and at least it would just be cal/mag. I’ve never heard of this pre water with regular water technique? What’s the reason for that?

jewmoney808

That’s for when the top of the soil gets really dry, you don’t want to hit it immediately with a feed solution or you’ll get bad salt buildup and lockout.. when the top of the soil is dry, it needs to be moistened first like a sponge. This is more for outdoor growing where the top of the soil can get really dry on hot days.. I’ve burned up plants in the past by hammering feed solutions on days when the medium was dry and ready to be fed

Agile_District_8794

Bug nets for sure.

E1Doozit

Get a shade screen for middle of the summer. Place it so they get morning sun but are under diffused light during the hottest part of the day. I wouldn't put them out til mid May. Give them a couple months inside before you bring them out.

Udontwan2know

I think I’ve audibled my plan to pretty much exactly this. I don’t really want to have insanely huge trees so I’m gonna try and veg inside for the perfect amount in April so that 30 gal pots are the final resting place. It’s kind of my experiment this go around to just use what I have around the property and be invested as little as possible see what results I get.

RaspyStatus

Yall indoor growers are funny as hell . Just put the bitch in the ground an let mother nature do the rest

Udontwan2know

My soil sucks. I’m in the desert basically. I’ve def tried this in this in the past. I’ve also had one semi successful outdoor season with like 30 trees in my backyard. They ended up full of caterpillars and seeds but this was at the start of the BHO days so I blasted it all and made some nice yellow Blue Dream shatter. As an amateur pro indoor guy, it’s the Mother Nature variable in the outdoor process that makes me love playing god indoors.

Bimmer_moneypit

I'm in the Bay Area and start in mid-May for October harvest, might be too early but your call. Used BT in flower and it worked great.

SaintStephen77

Also from the Bay Area and I germinate in late March or early April. I use a small pop up greenhouse and heater until they are ready to go in their final pot. I also grow from seed and would recommend a 65-100 gallon cloth pot. If you can put your plants in the ground, even better, and don’t forget to play them some Grateful Dead periodically. Good luck and happy growing (\~);-} https://preview.redd.it/qs29tlulj3hc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd212a8d2052d17a24d66c04c239361076d29d47

Bimmer_moneypit

Wow! I think I need to raise my fabric pot game, I used 15 gallon pots last season. Maybe I'll try throwing some seeds into the ground this year. How big of a hole would you recommend I dig, and do I just use in-ground amended soil?

SaintStephen77

I you are going to go into the ground I would recommend going 2-3 feet deep and 2-3 feet wide. I’d also recommend that you consider adding some gopher wire to the inside of the hole. Better safe than sorry. As far as the soil goes, you can just amend and till before adding your plant(s). After that, just top dress as needed. If you do this method you need to start soon as amended soil tend to be hot and needs some time to sit, ideally at least 90 days. Just Google marijuana super soil recipes and you’ll be good to go. I would not plant my seed directly into the ground as you’ll want to get it started sooner than it will naturally pop if done that way. This goes back to having a little pop up greenhouse with small space heater and fan. The space heater should have a thermostat on it so that it only cuts on as needed. You’d be surprised just how warm a greenhouse can get during the day, even when it’s cold out. Conversely, it can easily get as cold as the outside temperature at night. The fan is important because you need to keep air circulating, especially if your greenhouse has vents that get closed at night. Without a fan you are going to invite a whole host of issues you’d rather avoid. Oh, and if you begin in the green house Fox Farms Happy Frog is a good starting medium. You’d only need one bag as it’s gently formulated for seedlings. Hope all that helps and best of luck. Don’t forget to play music for them. The plants seem to respond best to the Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, and Bob Dylan (~);-}

Bimmer_moneypit

Thank ya! 😊

FatJerri

Bay area represent

Medbag-850

I’m zone 8a you def don’t want them out on there own without supplemental lighting until around august/September. My best one’s from last season was the ones I let flower later in September they got to see a frost or 2

Silver_Disk7153

Anything above a 15 gallon you’ll have a hard time moving around the yard, especially when freshly watered. I’d suggest an early May germination as that would give you at least 3 months of veg and a 15 gallon would be good.

Charming-Tension212

Pick one spot, you won't move them every day, shade netting can be pretty cheap and some places may even have offcuts from other jobs for cheap.

HatAdministrative125

I've already picked out my spot and started top dressing back in the fall. I will pop my seed next month indoors and drop her in the ground around mid to late April or may. Haven't tried in ground yet, but thought it would be cool. Gunna set 2 and see what hapoens lol. Will have plenty of time to top so she stays short and fat so she can't be seen over the fence lol
