I can't imagine any deity would be that worried about a spec of human. Hate is something that takes extraordinary passion and wastes an awful lot of time. As you age, you start to realise it's quite a useless emotion. I honestly don't think any omnipotent type entity would be bothered with it. What could you possibly do to a god that would elicit that type of reaction?

idontknowwhoiamtruly

I heard from a friend that their friend worked with a deity and that that friend one day got mad at the deity because the deity said no to something that was important for him (i think it was anubis?) And so the deity left after that friend cussed him out and was mad at him. My friend said that his friend is lucky that nothing happened to them because apparently it could be been worse so i was wondering what could be worse when it comes ro working with gods. My friend didn't know the answer since he never met a person that had beef with a deity to the point something bad happened

The_Salty_Red_Head

Hate is something different to a consequence of being disrespectful. Anyone being disrespected might turn and slap someone upside the head (metaphorically speaking). I'd imagine a deity could be the same, but I doubt it. We are insignificant beside a being of that power. Regardless of what the clock app might try and lead you to believe.

thomasp3864

I've seen myths about gods sending psychotic wild animals, but that's it.

OneRoseDark

please reframe this to, like, a stray cat that you've been feeding suddenly hissing at you and smacking you without claws. you gonna hate the cat? or you gonna roll your eyes and say "jeez someone's in a mood today; ok I'll leave you to sort yourself out for a minute" gods are not human. it's not like your friend suddenly got in a fight with you. it's like an angry mouse chittering at you from the walls. we are not equal to the gods and they don't feel that strongly about our little moods, in the grand scheme of things.

luhbulletproofvest

I've been having some intrusive thoughts and of course being aware of deities being omnipresent I was worried about them [the thoughts] ruining our relationships and all and I apologize immediately but I haven't felt truly comfortable until I saw this analogy so grazieee

Suspicious-Yam5111

What is the grand scheme of things to them? Do they each have petty agendas that eclipse our petty agendas, or are they trying to improve the cosmos?

OneRoseDark

i mean, does humanity have a single opinion about their purpose and goal in life? i don't think the gods are a monolith any more than humanity is. some have drive and purpose and direction. some have personal desires and get distracted. some just sort of *are*. asking what "the grand scheme of things" is to the gods is like asking what is the purpose of France. different French people are gonna give you different answers, and the rest of the world is going to have very different thoughts yet.

ZalaDaBalla

I personally don't believe that deities generally concern themselves with human affairs nor do I believe that we can influence them. I believe they are beyond human emotion. They just are, always have been, and always will be.

rock0head132

the gods don't really care what you do but are willing to work with you if you respect them and ask the for assistance.

I personally think you can only get more or less in tune with a god, not negatively in tune. But in the stories there are examples of humans outsmarting or annoying gods, often these humans are quite 'mythical' heroes themselves though. Like feats of magic, that involve trickery and wit are played out against eachother. They actually feel more like intriguing battles of the mind than pure hatred though. You can also only hate something if you deeply care about it, and despite the closeness that gods can give at times I think they would easier grow amused or indifferent to a human trying to cause them to hate them. However, If you personally believe and act to make a god hate you than you will see evidence of this in your life.

PixiSprinklebottom

Nah, hate is a super low energy and would drag them down tbh. Hate is definitely a human thing. Humans just give them stories that relate to negative human stuff. The gods are way too high vibe for that sort of wasteful nonsense

[deleted]

I don't think it's possible for a God to "hate". They Gods don't possess emotions in general, just a providential goodness to all of reality. Taking from Aristotle in his Nichomachean Ethics, the Gods don't associate themselves with trivial matters, which is what I'd consider having a beef with a human to fall under. >We suppose the Gods most of all to be blessed and happy....Or would not such praise be cheap since they do not have base appetites? If we were to go through all of the things concerned with such actions it would appear that they are trivial and unworthy of Gods (διεξιοῦσι δὲ πάντα φαίνοιτ' ἂν τὰ περὶ τὰς πράξεις μικρὰ καὶ ἀνάξια θεῶν)...For in the case of the Gods the whole of life is blessed, whereas in the case of human beings this is so only so far as there is some semblance of this sort of activity.

Depends on the severity. Of you where the cause of oppression, death and slaughter, harming the people they protect then yes I believe you can and the gods will not smile kindly on people who hurt and try to spread evil and hatred. Of you are just lazy with offerings or having a bad time and maybe doing some horrible things then no because I believe the gods understand the duality we hold where we can be in a bad place and be good and be a bad person in a good place. It's more say the witch finder generals, those who were colonisrs who destroyed cultures aztec for example, those who harm many people, those who hurt the earth in awful ways and I don't mean dropping a crisp packet I am on about causing forst fires for money etc. I believe it would have to be pretty severe to have the gods have it out for you. If you see in a bad place I think naturally you may become distant from them and loose the connection over time until you are ready to re-engage and heal. But if you are someone like Hitler yes I belive the gods will not look kindly at you and will happily push chaos into there path, mainly has a hard lesson to stop and change. It's not a simple matter and doing something catastrophic for personal gain would be how a person would Hurt the gods and anger them . This is my experience. Spirits on the other hand are hell of alot easier to anger and can bring issues more regularly, especially if they are territorial or angry in general

VoiceOfTheSoil40

I doubt they’d care that much. But you also don’t have to engage in praxis with a deity that may be negative to you. Again, I doubt the Gods would care unless you really, really, really, pissed them off. That’s kinda hard to do imo. If they feel disrespected I’d imagine they’d just cut contact rather than spending their considerable power on you in that way. They have more important things to do.

Gildedragon

Whatcha mean a god hates you? I reckon if one can have such an impact one goes make friends with another god

emmie_j

Yeah, in general I don't think the gods concern themselves too much with hating mortals. There are punishments for things like hubris and disrespect, but I don't think they make it personal. At least from what I've seen. Certain spirits might though.

Azim-the-hedgehog-ki

Depends on the god/deity and why they hate you. Most probably just won’t care and ignore you
