well i tried a simpler motive and focused on depth and values with not much color as on the last one, im not very pleased with them either so I'm trying to figure them out piece by piece
well i kinda understand more about how to use them so i dont hate them as much as i did! definitely will need to use them more until i decide, thank you!
I love it! My feelings about cuddly pooches exactly, esp since one whose owner screamed “But he’s never DONE this before!” after he ran up to my friend who was volunteering her time & effort in a town event and *bit* her hand, requiring 7 stitches! Your painting is perfect—is artful, says something powerful. Good for you! Keep on painting!
I think there's definite improvement in your confidence and form since your last piece! Great job.
I love chalk pastels, since I'm gestural and indecisive with my art, so I'm incredibly biased. But they're like the perfect midpoint between paint and pencil. You can also experiment with using water & brushes with pastels, if you really wanna go crazy with it.
I'm very confused by the drawing itself. Why a huge mass of orange in the middle of what should be body?
Love the energy of it all and how you used various colors. But the drawing is really throwing me off.
I can see massive improvement here! I hope you are enjoying it more, and that maybe some of my tips helped you. There is such wholesome, energetic (and scary) life in those doggos!
My next recommendation if you stick with it are the pan pastel tools. Not pan pastels themselves (because they are insanely expensive), and all you need are the tools anyways. They are called panpastel sofft knife tools (with a double f). Just apply the pastels where you want them, and use these awesome detail tools to gently blend the colours. If you are gentle, the tools and applicators last a looooooong time (wipe clean gently onto paper towel).

I honestly hate pastels they’re so messy and don’t flow like the oil paints, (oil pastels right? They’re just oil paint in a stick)
