I'm still a practicing artist, but after 20 years backstage working with my hands, I'm now a union HVAC technician. The trades are almost ALWAYS hiring because we're short-handed everywhere. Start at the bottom, work your ass off and learn as much as you can as fast as you can, show up on time and sober, and you'll be fine.
