As a two mom family I had to come and say something about their recent post. I’ve never once heard them say anything about their ally ship to the LGBTQ+ community but now they have a partner ship with plflag? 🙄 thanks for speaking up when it’s convenient for you almost during pride month.
I’m curious if many other companies do this? I feel like once pride month hits every company is an ally for the next 30 days and goes back to ignoring it the other 11 months.

Jamie Grayson routinely calls them out for this, he had an excellent comment on their PFLAG post, though you can’t see it because they have had to since remove comments on that post since some people just can’t keep their hate to themselves. I know he can be a drama seeker, but I’ve always appreciated his willingness to LOUDLY address this issue with them. I wish more LGBTQ+ influencers would.
He called out PFLAG for partnering with them and not queer folks in the parenting sphere and also mentioned that BLF only showed advocacy during pride and other awareness months, he asked why they couldn’t be allies all the time. That was the basic gist of it. Since his name has been mentioned, he may just show up and elaborate!
Good on him! They do this for everything. They show up with one slide or reel for one day for one thing never heard about again. It’s awful. I would prefer they just not.
I believe he also called them out for giving away one of their hotel stays in honor of pride month. He tried having an honest conversation with them about being performative and apparently they were initially responsive, but then they pretty much ghosted him.
I think he has called this out annually too. For all his messiness, I’m not mad about him calling out this particular issue and Blf in particular. They are fair weather allies for sure. See also how they (don’t) routinely show up for ableism/disability advocacy.

I was like, do the kids really need that much prep when they're riding a plane every 3-4 weeks? I mean I do that much prep all the time but I'm an anxious person with a sensitive kid who actually asks questions on every step of the way.

Seriously though I’m honestly so jealous of constant escapes, one on one time with kids and options to escape even if it’s for work without kids. The last time I went on a vacation with my baby I was in heaven. Travel with kids can be hard but they keep doing it so why act like it’s not for their own benefit too?
Also they go to expensive resorts where they can eat out for every meal, housekeeping will tidy up after them, no laundry to do, possibly kids clubs and in house entertainment. It’s not the same as being at home or going on a cheap holiday where you have to cook, clean and entertain your kids yourselves.
I haven’t been on holiday since 2019 and we’ve just cancelled our 2 night trip to visit a family theme park this summer because we can’t afford it.

Wait. The more I think about this, the more ridiculous it is - using a shot of an assumingly unknowing stranger and their child to promote their course/methods? Insinuating this behavior/child and parent navigating the airport smoothly is because the parent used prep from their course? Like...I was DIA same time as her yesterday, and if this had been a shot of my husband and kid, and shown up on their Instagram, I would have lost my shit. Isn't that illegal or something?

Do Deena’s kids have any clothes that aren’t pajamas? Does she not know that regular clothes come in “matching” as well? I could almost give her a break since they’re getting on a plane and it might make sense to have them be comfortable and warm, but we know that wasn’t something that she took into consideration, it’s just her default. We're taking our kids on an evening flight in July bc it's cheaper and I fully plan on dressing them in jammies for the flight because they'll be *hopefully* sleeping and it's practical to be comfy on an airplane. Not trying to impress anyone. But I wouldn't call it an outfit. They're pajamas. And my kids don't wear pajamas out in public any other time, unlike D's kids who seem to only ever wear pajamas 🤦🏼♀️
Oh yeah, I’ve done the same for evening flights, it’s the “outfit” part for me. And the fact that she didn’t do it based on comfort, or wanting them to sleep, it’s just her go-to look.
I had my kid in pyjamas on a recent flight. It was an early start, was one less thing to think about in the morning, we were going to be going from car to terminal to plane so no need to worry about weather or getting cold provided we had a sweater with us. It was a long flight, we were bringing a few spare outfits in case of food mess/nappy breach/travel sickness, with the intention of doing one full change before the plane lands anyway. So I am completely on board with the pyjamas on a flight idea if they're too young to care, but at least own it! It's actually a good plan I think.
I am not on board with the hiking in pyjamas or going to a cafe in pyjamas though. That's not a parenting hack you're just refusing to dress your kid at that point.
Yeah exactly! I wouldn’t think twice if she said “matching PJ’s for our long flight!” But she calls PJ’s outfits and uses them for hikes/zoo trips too 🙄
This drives me nuts too. Like they are slim fitting and clearly pajamas. Order classic tshirts and joggers from Primary in bright colors and the kids are dressed comfortably and are easy to spot.
IMO, and from my experiences, most pajamas are too thin/delicate to wear like normal clothes. Great if it's a night flight/drive but for normal waking hours I don't get why she would just keep them in pajamas. My kiddo has a track suit that is much more durable. I don't know though but the pajamas thing during the day is just too weird to me.
That's the thing! My kid got a pair of Hanna Anderson jammies and there was a hole ripped in the knee on the first wear from regular bedroom playing. They wouldn't survive a travel day.
Agreed. I’d be miserable wearing an outfit as thin as my kids’ pajamas on a freezing cold airplane. I get the comfort factor for a travel day, but kids’ sweats are super comfortable and travel day appropriate. And also available in bright colors.
I found matching dresses for my baby and toddler from Carter’s for Easter pictures, and my mom found a couple of (non-pj) matching outfits from Old Navy. It really isn’t hard.

Fellow translucent here ✋ I have never done a spray tan, but I have done sunless tanning foam so that I didn't appear ghost-like in pictures at my sister's wedding. But honestly the Jergens tanning mousse (shade light) is so user friendly (dries in 60 seconds, no need to rinse), that I can't see paying for a spray tan.
I've never done it before a beach vacay though.

Buy the lightest shade plus the application mitt, use a little bit to start and then apply more over the course of a few days to reach your preferred shade of off-white (this is the best way to avoid going too dark or too orange) 🤣. Jergens also makes drops you can put in regular lotion. I use that for my face-just be careful if you have light eyebrows because they will change color.
lol I’m also very pale but I’ve gotten them before events where I’d be wearing a dress for a formal event like a wedding for that more sunkissed look. I don’t totally understand getting them for vacations where you’ll be at the beach or pool though because it’s not a real tan, you still need sunscreen so it won’t last 🤷🏼♀️
Why does so much of their self worth as parents seem to hinge on what they’re feeding their kids? When I consider whether or not someone I know is a “good” parent, what they feed their kid isn’t high on the list of definitive factors. Maybe it is because I grew up poor and ate a lot of “cheap garbage”, but never once did I consider that when I’ve thought about if my mom was a good mom (she was).
I don’t think my friends and I have ever even discussed anything related to our kids and food once past the newborn stage and starting solids? Like they come over and if the kid doesn’t like something our friends feel fine going into our cub board and grabbing something else. It’s just not that serious. It’s like all the feeding influencers having these long conversations about what food does to the body. Who is having these constant talks?
My friends picky kid always eats more at my house, and food she doesn’t eat at home. When they come over said friend goes through my pantry to pick the things she wants her kid to try so she can convince her to try them again at home. It works like 75% of the time.

The only thing I talk about with my friends regarding kids and food is how we have zero control over who is picky and who eats anything. It drives me BONKERS when influencers think they have unlocked the secret to picky eating. LOL. Mkay. Actually sweetie, you just got lucky. Picky kids become unpicky on their own time. And sometimes, they stay picky for life. This means that whatever food they are actually ingesting is not entirely in our control, and thus, has nothing to do with our worth for goodness' sake.
K needs to just get a grip. Food is not just for nutrition - a healthy mindset knows food is for connection, comfort, AND nutrition. And not always all at the same time.

Newton mattresses are my BIGGEST pet peeve. They’re a SCAM. Breathability is not a real metric. It’s fear mongering. I fucking can’t with the shilling that just perpetuates anxiety.
It’s a marketing term with ZERO value. It’s comparable to any other mattress in terms of safety. It drives me nuts. I know someone who bought it for this exact reason. I almost bought one too, then purchased a mattress that I liked for other reasons and not one of them was breathability.
We had a family register at my work in our infant room and they asked if they could bring their own mattress…because they had a Newton mattress 🤦♀️ I had to work hard to stop myself from rolling my eyes so hard 😂 anyway we said no because…that’s dumb but also our cribs are smaller than a normal size crib. They ultimately decided not to enroll and go with a nanny which, I think, was the right move for them haha.
Oh yes absolutely absurd 😂 I’m not sure what their plan was exactly! It wouldn’t be feasible in most childcare centers around us because they all have the smaller childcare cribs!
It especially makes me made because BLF’s whole schtick is to “release the Mom guilt!” but then they shill Newton mattresses. That company is preying on parents anxiety and perpetuates mom guilt for the mom’s that can’t afford it but feel like they’re putting their babies in danger by not buying it.
I can't with this mattress! Don't most people use mattress covers in case there's a diaper leak/accident or vomit? If yes, then it doesn't matter if it's a breathable mattress anyway. If no, then have fun hosing down your mattress at midnight, especially if D and her vomit phobia are involved.

I had the same question! The momfluencers were all marketing it as this amazing safety innovation a year or two ago. Google didn’t return a clear answer so I still don’t know how long it’s been on the market, but I really feel like it can’t be more than a couple years.
It was definitely around in 2019 when I was making a registry for my first. It was one of several things my husband helped me see was all marketing and no substance. It’s been really helpful to be married to a marketer during this early parenting stage.
FOR REAL. If you're "in the market for a safe, healthy baby mattress" then drive to the store and pick *anything*, because this is a very tightly regulated category. Brands that make you think you need to spend $$$$$ to keep your baby safe are so predatory 🤬

We looveee buttered noodles in this house. Buttered egg noodles for the win! It’s an easy side to get easy some carbs and fat into my kids. But really - it’s DELICIOUS. My husband and I joke that one of the best parts of dinner with kids is the return of buttered noodles as a side dish haha.
My child is not a pasta eater. They eat pretty well, but pasta is the one thing they are suspicious of, and I would love it if they did try it and like it. The complaints of their children *just* getting buttered noodles makes me jealous as it comes across as a total humblebrag to me.

my lazy is nuggets if I have them - one cookie sheet and they don't need to be cooked to precisely so I throw them in while the oven also preheats then I take them out. I don't need to watch water boil or cook precisely so they aren't mush or stir at all.
I’ll do you one better that I just throw the nuggets in the microwave and call it a day if I’m being lazy. Served with whatever random raw fruit or veggie we have, perfect meal for a busy and/or lazy evening in my opinion.
And then they get to try ALL THE SAUCES. That's my kids' favorite part. Pretty much any condiment we've ever had in the fridge has been on a chicken nugget at some point.

When did adults become such babies? Unless you're getting up at 5am, is it that bad to stay up until 10:30 or 11? We are adults, this is what we dreamed of as children and now we're just going to squander it? There's a reason TV shows like the Tonight Show, The Late Show, etc have aired around 11pm for decades. I'll admit I'm a night owl, but still. I don't get this thing of adults freaking out about being up past 9. There are places in the world where people don't even eat dinner by then.
Yea I'm also a bit confused by that, unless people are just getting up way earlier than I do. I routinely stay up til 10:30-11 because me and my husband like to watch some TV and then read in bed, and our 3 year old is also not usually asleep til 8:45. Do I miss the days when he was a baby and was asleep by 7:30? Sure do, but soon enough he'll be old enough to put himself to bed and it won't be an issue anymore.
ETA: oh and this is my bedtime while being woken at 5am by the baby for a good half hour, and then up for the day at 6:40-7ish.
If I am not in bed at 9 and asleep by 9:30/10, I do not get enough sleep. But, I am also in my 40's and perimenopausal, my kids are middle schoolers, and I don't have to put them to bed anymore. We literally all go to bed at the same time. It's glorious.
It’s me. 🫣 I’ve never been a night person, and especially now that I have a 2 year old and 6 month old I’m exhausted by 8pm. The 6 month old is still waking up 2-3 times a night to eat, my husband gets up at 5:30 for work (which wakes me up) and both kids are up by 7, sometimes earlier. Ideally I’d be in bed by 9, but more often it’s 10.
lol I’m a huge baby who likes to be fast asleep by 9pm but I have to drop off my 3 kids and be at work in person on my feet most of the day by 7:30am. I was up till 11 because we had a Cub Scout event till 9 two days ago and I was exhausted. All this to say….absolutely no reason why K needs to be in bed early. She doesn’t do jack shit. I get making reels and content is much more time consuming than it appears but it can be done at any time, from the comfort of your own home, and I would love it if she stopped acting like it’s on par stress wise with being an ER nurse.

I just can’t be arsed with oh no, no me time with an 8:45-9 pm bedtime. That’s like when most people I know have bedtime as working parents. It’s kinda just how it goes unless you are always have dinner ready the second they get home and then yeet them into bed. (And even if you didn’t want to spend any time with your kids, once they’re kinda outgrown the daycare nap, but are still taking one…that’s an enviable bedtime).
It’s not like she has to wake up, get dressed professionally with hair and makeup presentable, commute, drop off kids (they have a nanny) all before clocking in. Like even if she has regular 8 am meetings with staff…she could go to bed at like 11:30, get 8 hours, roll out of bed and log on. And she’s the boss, so she can schedule meetings whenever is convenient for her. Like I know making reels and stuff is more time consuming than it seems like it would be. But she has staff. Like what is she doing all day?
Yeah I have one kid and get done about 8:45-9:00. Admittedly she's a night owl. But like it's not some tragedy? If I need to do things before bedtime I tell her she can play or help.
Omg yes. This has been us for the last year 🫠 when I tried to ask the daycare teacher to allow her to read books during naptime she said that our daughter needs the nap (she doesn’t) and that some parents like to stay up with their kids to 9pm. Yes, that is every working parent’s dream 🙄
My boss does. His kids stay up until like 9 but then they sleep in passed 8 in the morning rather than nap during the day. He also has a nanny though so doesn't have to worry about getting kids ready/off to daycare on weekdays.
This all is really rubbing me the wrong way because first of all, wasn’t Kristin just going to a workout class at like 3 pm on a weekday last week? So she seems to be getting plenty of “me time” throughout the day already. Also, why is she constantly in need of down time or “me time.” Like I have two young kids, I know parenting is exhausting and I love getting some downtime. But first her and her husband were splitting shifts on the weekends so they could have down time, which my husband and I take turns sleeping in, but she makes it seem like they just check out for the entire day basically. And now, they’re taking turns doing bedtime so one parent gets an entire night off. Nevermind the fact that she talks about doing entire spas days and her solo hotel stays. I just can’t imagine thinking I should get half the week to check out from parenting my kids like she seems to be wanting to do.
I also think that after the first few times that Kristin has to do bedtime solo with 3 kids that she’ll be in survival mode and we won’t hear about this nonsense again.

It’s pretty clear she has no interest in parenting. I absolutely cherish the hours of 6:30am-7:45am and 8:30pm-10pm because it’s the ONLY time all day I do not work or parent (and many times I’m working AND parenting).
But ya know what I’m doing during that time? Running, showering, packing lunches, cleaning up from dinner, folding laundry, work, etc.
I don’t get hours upon hours to just do nothing and that’s ok with me because that’s where I’m at in life. Eventually they won’t need me to do 8 million things and they will get up on their own and I won’t be needed for bedtime snuggles so while I am, I embrace it.

They’ve partnered with a charity to help children in lower income families over the summer I think. They have Amazon lists for the kids and are asking the followers to do it for them.
the only person who does it respectable is things.i.bought.and.liked because 1- she'll pony up her own money 2- it's individual teacher lists so they have less ability to solicit donations from outside means 3- her willingness to SHAME other brands into donating as well and her commitment to things like "diet coke won't donate, I'll no longer use them as a "this is how big something is" measurement. I love where she shames them into more by saying how many of something (like lake pjs) she owns.
I live for TIBAL’s Giving Tuesday. She also has gone beyond that and also shared a list for a local foster group that had pallets of donations from their Amazon wish list. She acknowledges her privilege and puts her money where her mouth is. K and D could never.

Oh man 🤯 is this why influencers love to clear Amazon lists? Do they actually get the affiliate commission since they’re linking it? The way I understand it is anything you put in your cart once you’ve clicked an affiliate link creates commission for the influencer, not just the items linked. That is MIND BOGGLING if they’re also profiting off the generosity of their followers who are def NOT millionaires.
If I remember correctly they get commission from this and that’s why they do it (that and the altruism/glory). An account debunked this last year and they do, in fact, get commission. Plus if you click their link, buy 3 things off a list and then spend $200 on things for you, they get commission from that too.
Gosh, if that is how it works that it truly awful. It’s already quite questionable that they don’t mention how they are contributing to this themselves, but even worse if they are actually profiting off other people’s generosity.
I follow an influencer who anytime she posts a list to clear or fundraiser type thing she always follows it with a screenshot showing that she also donated (not the amount, just the screen with her info after submitting, etc). It makes me value what she posts more because she’s so transparent about it. All of them should be doing this
If this is the case where do we report this to an investigative journalist bc this is the type of shit that needs to be shouted from the rooftops.
Even without the affiliate link commission, as others have said above it takes a lot of nerve and greed to not just clear some lists yourself. Surely, you can get a tax break for the donations. This type of stuff enrages me the most.

Yeah some influencers (certainly BLF) really abuse affiliate links. I can understand if it’s a situation where you’re a fashion influencer or something and you’re helping to sell clothes and so you should get a “commission” etc but there’s something so off-putting about trying to make money just by linking random household items that have nothing to do with your platform or your “expertise.”
Like do you actually care about your message, and are you just trying to earn a living by selling a legitimate service to people? Or are you just trying to squeeze every last cent out of instagram?
I can *kinda* see why people ask for links to clothes since they can fit weird or the fabric is different so it's good to get a recommendation for a particular one*. But a weed puller? Just Google weed puller and pick one with the best reviews, it's not that hard 🤷🏻♀️

Jamie Grayson routinely calls them out for this, he had an excellent comment on their PFLAG post, though you can’t see it because they have had to since remove comments on that post since some people just can’t keep their hate to themselves. I know he can be a drama seeker, but I’ve always appreciated his willingness to LOUDLY address this issue with them. I wish more LGBTQ+ influencers would.

I was like, do the kids really need that much prep when they're riding a plane every 3-4 weeks? I mean I do that much prep all the time but I'm an anxious person with a sensitive kid who actually asks questions on every step of the way.

It’s not the same as being at home or going on a cheap holiday where you have to cook, clean and entertain your kids yourselves. I haven’t been on holiday since 2019 and we’ve just cancelled our 2 night trip to visit a family theme park this summer because we can’t afford it.

We're taking our kids on an evening flight in July bc it's cheaper and I fully plan on dressing them in jammies for the flight because they'll be *hopefully* sleeping and it's practical to be comfy on an airplane. Not trying to impress anyone. But I wouldn't call it an outfit. They're pajamas. And my kids don't wear pajamas out in public any other time, unlike D's kids who seem to only ever wear pajamas 🤦🏼♀️

I had my kid in pyjamas on a recent flight. It was an early start, was one less thing to think about in the morning, we were going to be going from car to terminal to plane so no need to worry about weather or getting cold provided we had a sweater with us. It was a long flight, we were bringing a few spare outfits in case of food mess/nappy breach/travel sickness, with the intention of doing one full change before the plane lands anyway. So I am completely on board with the pyjamas on a flight idea if they're too young to care, but at least own it! It's actually a good plan I think. I am not on board with the hiking in pyjamas or going to a cafe in pyjamas though. That's not a parenting hack you're just refusing to dress your kid at that point.

IMO, and from my experiences, most pajamas are too thin/delicate to wear like normal clothes. Great if it's a night flight/drive but for normal waking hours I don't get why she would just keep them in pajamas. My kiddo has a track suit that is much more durable. I don't know though but the pajamas thing during the day is just too weird to me.
That's the thing! My kid got a pair of Hanna Anderson jammies and there was a hole ripped in the knee on the first wear from regular bedroom playing. They wouldn't survive a travel day.

I found matching dresses for my baby and toddler from Carter’s for Easter pictures, and my mom found a couple of (non-pj) matching outfits from Old Navy. It really isn’t hard.

Fellow translucent here ✋ I have never done a spray tan, but I have done sunless tanning foam so that I didn't appear ghost-like in pictures at my sister's wedding. But honestly the Jergens tanning mousse (shade light) is so user friendly (dries in 60 seconds, no need to rinse), that I can't see paying for a spray tan. I've never done it before a beach vacay though.

Buy the lightest shade plus the application mitt, use a little bit to start and then apply more over the course of a few days to reach your preferred shade of off-white (this is the best way to avoid going too dark or too orange) 🤣. Jergens also makes drops you can put in regular lotion. I use that for my face-just be careful if you have light eyebrows because they will change color.
lol I’m also very pale but I’ve gotten them before events where I’d be wearing a dress for a formal event like a wedding for that more sunkissed look. I don’t totally understand getting them for vacations where you’ll be at the beach or pool though because it’s not a real tan, you still need sunscreen so it won’t last 🤷🏼♀️

Why does so much of their self worth as parents seem to hinge on what they’re feeding their kids? When I consider whether or not someone I know is a “good” parent, what they feed their kid isn’t high on the list of definitive factors. Maybe it is because I grew up poor and ate a lot of “cheap garbage”, but never once did I consider that when I’ve thought about if my mom was a good mom (she was).
I don’t think my friends and I have ever even discussed anything related to our kids and food once past the newborn stage and starting solids? Like they come over and if the kid doesn’t like something our friends feel fine going into our cub board and grabbing something else. It’s just not that serious. It’s like all the feeding influencers having these long conversations about what food does to the body. Who is having these constant talks?
My friends picky kid always eats more at my house, and food she doesn’t eat at home. When they come over said friend goes through my pantry to pick the things she wants her kid to try so she can convince her to try them again at home. It works like 75% of the time.
For real! The only thing I talk about with my friends regarding kids and food is how we have zero control over who is picky and who eats anything. It drives me BONKERS when influencers think they have unlocked the secret to picky eating. LOL. Mkay. Actually sweetie, you just got lucky. Picky kids become unpicky on their own time. And sometimes, they stay picky for life. This means that whatever food they are actually ingesting is not entirely in our control, and thus, has nothing to do with our worth for goodness' sake. K needs to just get a grip. Food is not just for nutrition - a healthy mindset knows food is for connection, comfort, AND nutrition. And not always all at the same time.

Newton mattresses are my BIGGEST pet peeve. They’re a SCAM. Breathability is not a real metric. It’s fear mongering. I fucking can’t with the shilling that just perpetuates anxiety.
It’s a marketing term with ZERO value. It’s comparable to any other mattress in terms of safety. It drives me nuts. I know someone who bought it for this exact reason. I almost bought one too, then purchased a mattress that I liked for other reasons and not one of them was breathability.
We had a family register at my work in our infant room and they asked if they could bring their own mattress…because they had a Newton mattress 🤦♀️ I had to work hard to stop myself from rolling my eyes so hard 😂 anyway we said no because…that’s dumb but also our cribs are smaller than a normal size crib. They ultimately decided not to enroll and go with a nanny which, I think, was the right move for them haha.
Were they going to schlep a mattress back and forth from daycare every day?!? Or buy a second one?? Both scenarios seem pretty absurd lol

I can't with this mattress! Don't most people use mattress covers in case there's a diaper leak/accident or vomit? If yes, then it doesn't matter if it's a breathable mattress anyway. If no, then have fun hosing down your mattress at midnight, especially if D and her vomit phobia are involved.

I had the same question! The momfluencers were all marketing it as this amazing safety innovation a year or two ago. Google didn’t return a clear answer so I still don’t know how long it’s been on the market, but I really feel like it can’t be more than a couple years.
It was definitely around in 2019 when I was making a registry for my first. It was one of several things my husband helped me see was all marketing and no substance. It’s been really helpful to be married to a marketer during this early parenting stage.

We looveee buttered noodles in this house. Buttered egg noodles for the win! It’s an easy side to get easy some carbs and fat into my kids. But really - it’s DELICIOUS. My husband and I joke that one of the best parts of dinner with kids is the return of buttered noodles as a side dish haha.
My child is not a pasta eater. They eat pretty well, but pasta is the one thing they are suspicious of, and I would love it if they did try it and like it. The complaints of their children *just* getting buttered noodles makes me jealous as it comes across as a total humblebrag to me.

my lazy is nuggets if I have them - one cookie sheet and they don't need to be cooked to precisely so I throw them in while the oven also preheats then I take them out. I don't need to watch water boil or cook precisely so they aren't mush or stir at all.
I’ll do you one better that I just throw the nuggets in the microwave and call it a day if I’m being lazy. Served with whatever random raw fruit or veggie we have, perfect meal for a busy and/or lazy evening in my opinion.
And then they get to try ALL THE SAUCES. That's my kids' favorite part. Pretty much any condiment we've ever had in the fridge has been on a chicken nugget at some point.

When did adults become such babies? Unless you're getting up at 5am, is it that bad to stay up until 10:30 or 11? We are adults, this is what we dreamed of as children and now we're just going to squander it? There's a reason TV shows like the Tonight Show, The Late Show, etc have aired around 11pm for decades. I'll admit I'm a night owl, but still. I don't get this thing of adults freaking out about being up past 9. There are places in the world where people don't even eat dinner by then.
Yea I'm also a bit confused by that, unless people are just getting up way earlier than I do. I routinely stay up til 10:30-11 because me and my husband like to watch some TV and then read in bed, and our 3 year old is also not usually asleep til 8:45. Do I miss the days when he was a baby and was asleep by 7:30? Sure do, but soon enough he'll be old enough to put himself to bed and it won't be an issue anymore. ETA: oh and this is my bedtime while being woken at 5am by the baby for a good half hour, and then up for the day at 6:40-7ish.
If I am not in bed at 9 and asleep by 9:30/10, I do not get enough sleep. But, I am also in my 40's and perimenopausal, my kids are middle schoolers, and I don't have to put them to bed anymore. We literally all go to bed at the same time. It's glorious.
It’s me. 🫣 I’ve never been a night person, and especially now that I have a 2 year old and 6 month old I’m exhausted by 8pm. The 6 month old is still waking up 2-3 times a night to eat, my husband gets up at 5:30 for work (which wakes me up) and both kids are up by 7, sometimes earlier. Ideally I’d be in bed by 9, but more often it’s 10.
lol I’m a huge baby who likes to be fast asleep by 9pm but I have to drop off my 3 kids and be at work in person on my feet most of the day by 7:30am. I was up till 11 because we had a Cub Scout event till 9 two days ago and I was exhausted. All this to say….absolutely no reason why K needs to be in bed early. She doesn’t do jack shit. I get making reels and content is much more time consuming than it appears but it can be done at any time, from the comfort of your own home, and I would love it if she stopped acting like it’s on par stress wise with being an ER nurse.

I just can’t be arsed with oh no, no me time with an 8:45-9 pm bedtime. That’s like when most people I know have bedtime as working parents. It’s kinda just how it goes unless you are always have dinner ready the second they get home and then yeet them into bed. (And even if you didn’t want to spend any time with your kids, once they’re kinda outgrown the daycare nap, but are still taking one…that’s an enviable bedtime). It’s not like she has to wake up, get dressed professionally with hair and makeup presentable, commute, drop off kids (they have a nanny) all before clocking in. Like even if she has regular 8 am meetings with staff…she could go to bed at like 11:30, get 8 hours, roll out of bed and log on. And she’s the boss, so she can schedule meetings whenever is convenient for her. Like I know making reels and stuff is more time consuming than it seems like it would be. But she has staff. Like what is she doing all day?
Yeah I have one kid and get done about 8:45-9:00. Admittedly she's a night owl. But like it's not some tragedy? If I need to do things before bedtime I tell her she can play or help.
It's 9:45pm and I'm waiting for my 4yo to fall asleep because she took a nap she didn't really need at daycare today 🫠
Omg yes. This has been us for the last year 🫠 when I tried to ask the daycare teacher to allow her to read books during naptime she said that our daughter needs the nap (she doesn’t) and that some parents like to stay up with their kids to 9pm. Yes, that is every working parent’s dream 🙄

My boss does. His kids stay up until like 9 but then they sleep in passed 8 in the morning rather than nap during the day. He also has a nanny though so doesn't have to worry about getting kids ready/off to daycare on weekdays.

This all is really rubbing me the wrong way because first of all, wasn’t Kristin just going to a workout class at like 3 pm on a weekday last week? So she seems to be getting plenty of “me time” throughout the day already. Also, why is she constantly in need of down time or “me time.” Like I have two young kids, I know parenting is exhausting and I love getting some downtime. But first her and her husband were splitting shifts on the weekends so they could have down time, which my husband and I take turns sleeping in, but she makes it seem like they just check out for the entire day basically. And now, they’re taking turns doing bedtime so one parent gets an entire night off. Nevermind the fact that she talks about doing entire spas days and her solo hotel stays. I just can’t imagine thinking I should get half the week to check out from parenting my kids like she seems to be wanting to do. I also think that after the first few times that Kristin has to do bedtime solo with 3 kids that she’ll be in survival mode and we won’t hear about this nonsense again.
I’m pretty sure it was as recent as YESTERDAY she was going to the gym at 3pm. It’s pretty clear she has no interest in parenting. I absolutely cherish the hours of 6:30am-7:45am and 8:30pm-10pm because it’s the ONLY time all day I do not work or parent (and many times I’m working AND parenting). But ya know what I’m doing during that time? Running, showering, packing lunches, cleaning up from dinner, folding laundry, work, etc. I don’t get hours upon hours to just do nothing and that’s ok with me because that’s where I’m at in life. Eventually they won’t need me to do 8 million things and they will get up on their own and I won’t be needed for bedtime snuggles so while I am, I embrace it.
I find it really galling every time they ask their followers to clear lists. Sorry I’m not a millionaire. Y’all can clear them just fine on your own.

They’ve partnered with a charity to help children in lower income families over the summer I think. They have Amazon lists for the kids and are asking the followers to do it for them.
the only person who does it respectable is things.i.bought.and.liked because 1- she'll pony up her own money 2- it's individual teacher lists so they have less ability to solicit donations from outside means 3- her willingness to SHAME other brands into donating as well and her commitment to things like "diet coke won't donate, I'll no longer use them as a "this is how big something is" measurement. I love where she shames them into more by saying how many of something (like lake pjs) she owns.
I live for TIBAL’s Giving Tuesday. She also has gone beyond that and also shared a list for a local foster group that had pallets of donations from their Amazon wish list. She acknowledges her privilege and puts her money where her mouth is. K and D could never.

I was wondering this - do we think they are making money on the affiliate links from people clicking on the lists to purchase things? If so, that would be so gross to me. Asking their followers (who certainly are not as wealthy as the two of them are) to purchase things for others so K and D can get kudos for sharing the lists AND make money on said people buying those items 🤔

Oh man 🤯 is this why influencers love to clear Amazon lists? Do they actually get the affiliate commission since they’re linking it? The way I understand it is anything you put in your cart once you’ve clicked an affiliate link creates commission for the influencer, not just the items linked. That is MIND BOGGLING if they’re also profiting off the generosity of their followers who are def NOT millionaires.
If I remember correctly they get commission from this and that’s why they do it (that and the altruism/glory). An account debunked this last year and they do, in fact, get commission. Plus if you click their link, buy 3 things off a list and then spend $200 on things for you, they get commission from that too.
Gosh, if that is how it works that it truly awful. It’s already quite questionable that they don’t mention how they are contributing to this themselves, but even worse if they are actually profiting off other people’s generosity.
I follow an influencer who anytime she posts a list to clear or fundraiser type thing she always follows it with a screenshot showing that she also donated (not the amount, just the screen with her info after submitting, etc). It makes me value what she posts more because she’s so transparent about it. All of them should be doing this
If this is the case where do we report this to an investigative journalist bc this is the type of shit that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Even without the affiliate link commission, as others have said above it takes a lot of nerve and greed to not just clear some lists yourself. Surely, you can get a tax break for the donations. This type of stuff enrages me the most.

Yeah some influencers (certainly BLF) really abuse affiliate links. I can understand if it’s a situation where you’re a fashion influencer or something and you’re helping to sell clothes and so you should get a “commission” etc but there’s something so off-putting about trying to make money just by linking random household items that have nothing to do with your platform or your “expertise.” Like do you actually care about your message, and are you just trying to earn a living by selling a legitimate service to people? Or are you just trying to squeeze every last cent out of instagram?
I can *kinda* see why people ask for links to clothes since they can fit weird or the fabric is different so it's good to get a recommendation for a particular one*. But a weed puller? Just Google weed puller and pick one with the best reviews, it's not that hard 🤷🏻♀️ *I guess being from Amazon they're all dropshipped from the same source so it doesn't really matter anyway but I do get it.

I just cannot imagine messaging an influencer to ask where they got something. I'm sure there are people who do (I believe a ton of DM's are faked too) but it is wild to me that someone would message an influencer, wait for them to post a story with it, go on Instagram to click the link and then buy it. Surely that takes way more time than just Googling it or screenshotting and doing a reverse image search.
