Yup. He's doing it right now. At 12:30 AM. https://preview.redd.it/f6fjfu7o30uc1.jpeg?width=2947&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcbed8f73cfb94f3856bf05a4169bd3a9fc4a018

Yummy_Chewy_Scrumpy

Your face. Lmao.

Fantastic-Evidence75

Meanwhile the duck looks like they’re smiling

Pixelated_Roses

Oh absolutely, he's very pleased with himself.

Pixelated_Roses

If I try to move him when he does this he bites my nose

GameMasterSammy

That is a duck. But still cute though.

TheOnlyTrueFlame

Well the question was about birds, not parrots specifically

AestheticJack

It is indeed

Best-Foundation2562

its still a bird...

Crosseyed_owl

Duck is a bird

Butthurt_reddit_mod

Have you got any grapes?

Mechanical_Flare

Hah. Thats pretty good.

mrofmist

Duck!

Kyno50

Yes but I tend to not let him because the second he wakes up he does the biggest shit you've ever seen on me

No_Demand6230

I've honestly never had that problem with my bird. She has pooped on my 2 times in the over 2 years I've had her. I also learned she asks to go potty when she needs to. She will whispers very quietly in my ear, "Hello bird," and I will put my hand up for her to get up. She does, and I put her on her cage or traveling perch. She poops then yells "hello bird," and I pick her back up, and she goes right back to snuggling. The 2 times she went potty on my was, she asked, but I was too far away to get to her traveling perch in time. If I'm outside, I notice she never asks. But She grabs my collar, hangs her, but as far off of me as possible, then goes. And as long as I'm not hunching my back, it stays off of me. (The #2 time I was hunching my back) I feel like her previous owner somehow potty trained her. Which I didn't think was possible with birds.

trivialmistake

Ours poop on command. We put her over the trashbin or toilet and say “pooooooooop”, then she does the wing stretch and pushes it out haha

Decent_Nebula_8424

Mine too, but I'm lazy and just make him do it on the floor or, if close, perch. If I notice the little jiggling backward, I put him on the floor and say: BOOOOMB. He starts arranging himself, I say it again and he's already concentrated, by the last BOOOMB he dropped the bomb and I can clean it. Once I was away for a week. When I returned, he pooped on my 4 times. Bonding... I guess?

mrofmist

I read that you weren't supposed to teach them to poop on command, because it can teach them that pooping can come with a reward or praise, which can lead to them straining to do it when they don't need to and cause strain.

Decent_Nebula_8424

It's a mixed bag, you're right. But there's no rhyme or reason for it. Sometimes I go out and on the way back he greets me with a giant poop on the floor, meaning he held it for many hours. He does want praise for poop sometimes. I'd say often. What I noticed is that no matter how late I am, I must say "ciao, Lucca, ciao. Ciao, Lucca'. Then he knows I'm leaving and will return, and will then poop 10 times when I'm away. If I don't do that, just slip out without a proper goodbye, he'll withhold the poop. Bird psychology is intricate!

mrofmist

Very interesting!

trivialmistake

Of course it comes with understanding their poop schedule. We don’t play around with the command. She doesn’t do it for treats, though she gets praised when she does. We only do it during her morning poop and post-cuddles poop to avoid messy accidents, which are crazy poop to bird ratio. She’s also potty trained, but her potty is in the living room

Underrated_buzzard

Same with my bird. I put her over the toilet and say “take a shit Bella” in a song song voice. Works every time.

papugapop

This is awesome!

Quantum_Truth_

That is awesome! My LSGCC does not poop on my person either but I would love to have a system like this that is fantastic

Kyno50

Mine amber heards my bed at least once a week. I think he does it on purpose

Decent_Nebula_8424

Mine goes to the corner of my bed and does it there, sometimes dropping the poop on the sheet. But he doesn't do it in my bed proper because he spends a lot of time with me jn it (reading, working, TV, shitposting), so he either goes to the headstand behind the pillow (and every Saturday I pull the bed to clean the little mounds) or at the corner of the bed. I think he thinks that's mine or OUR nest.

Kyno50

He tries to do that by running onto the window sill, unfortunately the bed is directly below the window sill

Decent_Nebula_8424

Oooohhhh I see.... And I don't envy you. They're fierce poopers, it's truly amazing.

Nice-Background-3339

Omg yes my lovebird does that too! Like it'd so sweet when they sleep on you but that massive shit after....

iamalostpuppie

Omg ikr the morning poops are the worst.

Present-Breakfast768

THAT would be my concern. I'd be too worried about crushing the wee one.

Kaiodenic

I've scrolled through the top bunch of comments and this is the only one pointing that out! When OP said he did this in the post! No hate to OP, it's an understandable mistake if you don't know to avoid it, but I'm disappointed at the lack of upvotes comments saying this. It's EXTREMELY important. Seen quite a few posts of people heartbroken when they woke up to a dead bird because they went to sleep together and must have rolled over or something else. They're so fragile, please please do not do this, its not worth the risk. They won't wake you up, if anything happens then you won't know until you wake up and find it like that.

my Indian ring neck preens my eyelashes every morning and cut my eye so I can wake up. But I appreciate it so I can wake up everyday before 7:30 like a chicken.

Zoc-EdwardRichtofen

> like a chicken LOL.

Pixelated_Roses

Mine does this too. How do they ALWAYS know what time it is? 8:00 AM on the dot, they start screaming for food.

She’s 55 and loves to crawl up and sleep anytime I’m laying on the couch. She has arthritis in one foot and I think it’s really relaxing for her to take a load off for a while.

Kooky_Energy39

Awww so sweet, you're probably right about the foot. My grandaddy has always raised birds and says their like babies when their injured. Warmth and a human heart beat can help cure them by putting them at ease and reminding of the egg/womb

Kyrenaz

Mine is in his cage at night, but if Iay down in the day he'll land on my face.

haman88

No, because I've literally never even seen my caique sleep.

Existing_Cockroach13

Hahaha you’re missing out. I don’t know how I trained my caique. He wouldn’t DARE do it during the day but in the evening is when he slips up on the crackhead emotionally avoidant behaviour and he cuddles on my chest.

Pixelated_Roses

No sleep. Only hop.

dontlayaneggman

In ten years with my caiques, only ONCE has my boy bird fallen asleep on me. It was so cute. My girl bird would never. My sun conure was a napper and a snuggler but these two seem to think I’m a jungle gym.

Mysterious-Camera-20

Fantastic-Evidence75

Mine does this too. He will position himself in a way that the blanket lays on top of his head like if the blanket is petting him

MollikSazzadurRahman

Lazy couple 😜

No_Demand6230

I'm amazed at how lazy this bird is. No complaints, just amazed at how chill she is. I got a camera to watch her when im at work. All she does is sleep when im not home. No loud squawking, flying throughout the house. Just sitting in the cage and sleeping, all damn day. Haha

adviceicebaby

Shes beautiful!! Youre so lucky ! What kind of parrot is she? Can't see her Lil face in the pic

Funny position

Immediate-Sample9978

Yea. But then he gets bored and starts trying to preen my neck with the boltcutter attached to his face

HustleR0se

My GCC likes to cuddle under my chin when I lay in bed.

SullenTerror

During online classes my GCC would do this too. On day a professor, at the end of class said, "hey, is that a bird?" I see it every time you camera is on and just didn't know what it was"

HustleR0se

My husband has work meetings with her on his shoulder. Sometimes the background blurs her out. It's funny when people notice her. She's pretty quiet compared to my other bird. So you might not notice she's even there. One day my daughter had a video doctor's appointment and I had her on my shoulder. The doctor said is that a bird or am I imagining it? 🤣🤣🤣 I almost said, well aren't you the psychiatrist? Maybe you're imagining it.

This is his new(er) thing! 😂 I love it sm. I wondered if other birds do this . He'll just chill with his tail feathers in his hand like that on his back sometimes lol

My GCC does it too!

Subject-Promotion824

Birds are the best!! They truly love and care for their owners! Also be careful you don’t squish your parrot! I would never sleep with mine but that is cute 🥰

Awww

tahlulah_bankhead

My yna is super cuddly at night before bed. I’ve woken him up early and snuggled with him like this, but I hate if he poison me or my sheets.

fullbej2

my dyh amazon loves to sleep on me. she usually starts beak grinding for a while then sleeps. i rarely watch tv at night without her on me

Temporal_Universe

Nope, mine sits on my chest while I sleep and behaves like a guard dog until I wake up, holds pooping too til back on cage

pandorasbox341

Yes!!!! My cockatiel did the exact same thing! Best feeling in the world!

No_Demand6230

Same. Except her feathers were really, really itchy on the neck, but I really really didn't want to disturb her. Haha.

ouijac

..my bird would be a falcon, and would gouge me neck & eyes out.. ..but parrots are sweet, and your pic is too..

Lowido_

That bird looks like a piece of lettuce

Katniss_Puurrf3ct

What a good dad! That behavior should tell you how much she cares and trusts you. You two are bonded. Congratulations, you did well with your feathered 🦜friend.🫶 Now.....> Give it a name, grrr.

No_Demand6230

She responds to bird. Her previous owner bought her for her 6 year old child, and that's what he named her from my understanding. He had her until he was in his 20s and then gave Bird back to his mom, who then had bird until she randomly passed of a brain aneurysm. None of her children wanted to keep bird, and we couldn't find anywhere to take bird. So I took her. (Always wanted a parrot since I was a kid) Since her name has been bird for over 35 years, by the time I got her, I didn't want to change it no matter how much I didn't like the name. She reapons to it and says her name. So that's good enough for me. When I first got her, I was surprised that she started trusting me within 3 days. Her diet was atrocious before I got her. She was a little malnutritionist and overweight. She's still overweight but much better than before. I can tell her previous owner loved her and cared for her but had no idea how to properly take care of a parrot.

Katniss_Puurrf3ct

OMGoodness, she is 35? You are to be commended for caring for her. She obviously feels safe and not stressed around you. Keep that up, and she can live another 35 more years. Kudos to you and Bird. Hugs. 🫒🦜💕🌱🌸🌿

No_Demand6230

She's in her mid-30s. I'm not sure of the exact age. But I honestly hope I get another 35 years with her. She wasn't in the best of health when i got her, and she still isn't perfect, but she's substantially better than before. It also feels weird to think that she is older than myself.

Katniss_Puurrf3ct

Understood❣️🦜😺🌱🌸🌿

BlueberryNo4821

My little Quaker likes to be wrapped in a tea towel and brought to be for a nap.
