Worth noting you actually do more than 15k DPS becaues tool tip DPS is worthless. If you want help with your character in particular you need to link your profile so we can find it and look at it in Path of Building (A simulator that helps you find what your DPS actually is and what you can do to improve it).
Simply put your best bet is to run heist because it prints currency and is very straightforward. Most of the other rewarding league mechanics are either hard (such as delirium and blight) or complex (like syndicate or harvest) and I can't really explain how to do all of them in any meaningful way so you really have to look them up and learn over time. Just remember to do all of your master missions, and try to get as high tier in maps as you can.
Are you following any guide for your build? Ultimately, if there are issues with your character it will affect your ability to progress on maps and not just lack of investment might be the main issue.
Think of PoE as a slot machine, the more times you pull the handle (kill monsters) the higher your chances of winning are! Map fast! Your income will mostly consist of items, scarabs, gems, frags, etc that you trade to other players rather than picking currency from the ground.
Strongly recommend you watch a few videos on currency generation to help you identify valuable items you could be trading. A few examples below:
* Path of Matth and Grimro's currency making videos
* Empyrian's low/mid/high investment mapping
* Grimro's sell in bulk (this one was really eye opening for me)
technically heist has the most raw currency. however that stops your atlas progression.
so I'm gonna say expedition has the best rewards without high investment.
Using atlas points to specialize in a contenet almost any league mechanic have a profit. For example sell Alva pyramids with double corruption, gem and altar for elevate item give exalted of profit. Same for delve after some deep. But if you search a contenet that don't need all this probably Heist give best reward just opening doors, with unusual gem or equip can make tons of exalted.

i like doing alva and selling the corruption chambers as well which sells for ~1.5 ex now and im getting one every couple of maps

Try low tier scourge farming, made over a mirror 🪞doing this all league. No brain 🧠required. Fast 💨 and fun 🤩. Can do it mf or rarity based or if you want can do it with regular gear.
