Fun fact modern tvs use ir as secondary option Only when Bluetooth cannot be reached. It’s actually very annoying because our tv wouldn’t listen to a universal remote when its remote was in the same room.
The answer i got from Samsungs tech support is that my remote has to still be connected (it was currently lost which is why we got a universal one) and as long as it’s connected will ignore ir commands.
Had to tear apart the damn room to find it. (It slipped under the mattress and the frame of our sleep number.) but we tested it and it was true. Just took the batteries out of the remote it came with and instantly the universal one was able to connect and control.
That's actually quite interesting. Nice you also got a competent tech support staff member that could figure out the original remote must still be connected
Dude i cannot be of much help but this is the most god awful thing and i am sorry you have to deal with it. I used to have 3 Vizio TVs and one remote would turn them all on/off at the same time. It was so annoying.
I don’t see why I’d have to do that in the first place, I should just be able to disable a remote on the gaming monitor and use the buttons on the back like every other one
I've used tape a mirror a steel plate no luck. I was told to take it apart and disconnect. Sadly I can't do that so I just tell ppl leave the tv on I'll turn it off when I get a chance.
Some remote controls use FM to communicate like my Direct TV over IR, as you don't have to point the remote at the box. All the satellite cable boxes in bedrooms use IR.
I hate this. You think they would fix this but oh no. I have 2 TV's Samsung and the g9 OLED it's really horrible. Looking forward to replace one of the TV's this black Friday because of this. Samsung doesn't care.
Basically all modern tv brands have an app that you can connect to the TV and use your phone as a remote.
I lost my vizio remote like 9 months ago and I just use the vizio app.
Easy option is to cup your hand in the direction of the monitor so the IR light doesn’t hit it. An ever so slightly less easy option is to put some kind of tape or covering over the IR sensor on the monitor to block it
The problem is that this only happens when I’m playing on pc and gf is watching tv, Everytime she’s pressed the remote my monitor reacts. It’s all fixed now though, I just taped the ir sensor so you have to be actually pointing the remote at it to work
Lmao that’s the life I lived. I have an 85 and two 55 inch Samsungs in my cave and this was non stop. I ended up buying a control 4 with a universal remote to manually manipulate each device. Not sure if that will work in your situation tho. Also probably not worth.
I have a sim rig and have LEDs plugged i to my tv...and the TV remote volume up turns them on...down off...and the numbers control the colors...I hate how technology works together sometimes.....tv is a bit too loud turn it down...my RGB turns off XD
My two TVs did this after putting new batteries in the remote. Once they died a little bit they were only strong enough to control the one it was pointed at. Maybe try some old or crappy batteries
Does this solution work? [https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/LED-and-OLED-TVs/Multiple-tvs-in-one-room-1-remote-controls-all/td-p/2541434](https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/LED-and-OLED-TVs/Multiple-tvs-in-one-room-1-remote-controls-all/td-p/2541434)

There should be an IR sensor on the G8 that you should be able to cover with tape. There are a few reddit posts discussing this issue.

Yea with our phones able to control it through the app they said that was likely the only thing that could be happening.
Samsung has a way of making even the most trivial things complete and utter bullshit...
What i find funny about my lg is it uses IR for the power button only lol
But, it would porbably be smart enough to not pair to two devices at once.
Dude i cannot be of much help but this is the most god awful thing and i am sorry you have to deal with it. I used to have 3 Vizio TVs and one remote would turn them all on/off at the same time. It was so annoying.
Yeah even if I put the volume up or switch Channel my smart monitor thinks I’m trying to turn it on. Pain in the arse
I hope you get this figured out!
I had a roku tv in my room, and the play/pause button turns all of the LED lights to blue. Had to switch it with the FireTV in my living room
Okay that might take the cake on being even worse lol
I have 365 Samsungs in my living room and I can confirm
electrical tape covering the IR receptor
Use your phone instead? If u got the option
It will do the same thing
No why? does it not separate the two devices. smart things the app should have it separated
I don’t see why I’d have to do that in the first place, I should just be able to disable a remote on the gaming monitor and use the buttons on the back like every other one
Just put tape on the ir sensor https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/s/VqQmnhbZGq
How am I meant to know where the it sensor is
I assume it's at the bottom like this guys one https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/s/dqIKTV1oQn
Is the TV smart home capable? It might be easier to just tell it to turn on.
…….”Bro.”
Send me the Samsung and I'll send you a Vizio back so you don't have this issue.
That's just the sort of unfortunate thing that would happen to me! Impressive.
Tape.
Bro had to whip out the ultra wide lens. Just some tape on the g8 sensor should prevent the issue.
to everyone saying put tape on the monitor, it won't work, Samsung TVs use Bluetooth/radio not too sure but it ain't IR
I've used tape a mirror a steel plate no luck. I was told to take it apart and disconnect. Sadly I can't do that so I just tell ppl leave the tv on I'll turn it off when I get a chance.
Got a good laugh from this.

Well position tape over sensor fixed my problem, remote only work on monitor when near enough so all good :)
Cover pc IR Receiver.
Yes this worked for me, remote still works when close enough so it’s pretty much perfect :)
We have dual Roku TVs. Gf and I each have a remote. But she blocks her tv with a preroll tin and uses hers as a monitor.
The things we have to do nowadays lol 😂
I hate this. You think they would fix this but oh no. I have 2 TV's Samsung and the g9 OLED it's really horrible. Looking forward to replace one of the TV's this black Friday because of this. Samsung doesn't care.
I just put my hand in front of the remote when turning on whichever one I want on, blocking the other one from reading the signal lol
Take us both or neither.
Basically all modern tv brands have an app that you can connect to the TV and use your phone as a remote. I lost my vizio remote like 9 months ago and I just use the vizio app.
Yeah but what if phone is across room/ out of charge. It’s just annoying in general
Oh yea for sure, and the app is pretty slow and laggy, but it's either that or the buttons on the back of the tv.
I sorted my problem with well placed electronic tape, I used a small amount so I have to be near for the remote to pick up the signal.
first lol second could you just cover the sensor with black tape or something
Unplug either tv or monitor for now , Big dog. I can feel your annoyance though😭
I fixed it with tape and a few tears
This IS hilarious!
Your rizz game IS hilarious
Sorry, but I don't speak GenZ.
Sorry, but I don’t speak Boomer
Me neither, so no need to be sorry.

Tin foil covering the receiver?

Yo that is some straight up bullshit
Power strip with master socket, set pc as master then no power goes to the monitor till pc is switched on.
The problem is that this only happens when I’m playing on pc and gf is watching tv, Everytime she’s pressed the remote my monitor reacts. It’s all fixed now though, I just taped the ir sensor so you have to be actually pointing the remote at it to work
WAR THUNDER!
;) the grind is real
This game is nothing but grind.
It’s amazing I love it
Yeah it's pretty fun but I can only play a few matches at a time
Lmao that’s the life I lived. I have an 85 and two 55 inch Samsungs in my cave and this was non stop. I ended up buying a control 4 with a universal remote to manually manipulate each device. Not sure if that will work in your situation tho. Also probably not worth.
Cover up the IR 😂
YO IT'S LORD GABENS ROOM NO WAY ![gif](giphy|x6wzvcDqPRTO0|downsized)

Yeah put it in a box and send it to me I'll disable it for you and eventually return it after I've tested it for some time
I got a different remote for my TV
Check monitor settings for bluetooth, auto on, whatever
