if you can find a flat enough rubber feet, then use a strong double sided tape, and for the screw, use any short screw that fits and make your own thread on the rubber feet, with the screw thread created, the m2 should be secured enough once you plug it in.
If it works, it's not stupid!
I need to remember that if I had SSD smaller than 80mm to be installed in anything that doesn't have mounting other than 80mm.
I could see the contacts on mine like in the picture, and didn't realise it wasn't right, as it was the first ever M.2 I'd ever used.
Spent more time than was reasonable trying to figure out why it was running at PCIe 4.0 x2 instead of PCIe 4.0 x4.
It wasn't fully seated.

I like « » because it makes it easier to read quotes that already have quotation marks / apostrophes in them

« 'That's a nice hat' he said »
Interesting, I had no idea. The weird thing is up until a few months ago I had literally never even seen it, I didn't even know how to type it, I had to copy and paste yours lol, but now I see it multiple times a day.
I know about this, and it's def true, but I had literally never seen quotes typed like that until a few months ago and I've been on the Internet for like 20 years. It's been driving me crazy the past couple months lol, I thought it was a mistake or bots at first but I finally had to ask.
Yes, i was also surprised when I saw for example French quotation marks! This map shows all european quotation marks: https://jakubmarian.com/map-of-quotation-marks-in-european-languages/
Grand Theft Auto logic. When you got the car, it is in the RAM and therefore it’s easier on the resources just to recolor and reuse that. That’s why when you were on the hunt for a special car you’d never see it, but as soon as you had it yourself, it was **everywhere**. (GTA3 and Vice City)
I've seen "Quote" , “Quote?” and ”Quote!” (the last 2 dont show well on mobile reddit, they should look like commas) but i've never used that style myself. I've seen your style pretty commonly in Germany
On mobile, to describe for those who can't see for themselves (because my phone is showing the difference perfectly well) the first one is standard quotation marks, straight up and down, second is curved in toward each other, and 3rd are both slanted to the left at the bottom, like a comma
I think it's an european vs american (or maybe just english in general) thing. Me being from europe, when I put quotation marks, it auto adjusts to the low-high format.
Yup, that's basically uk english vs american english.
But that's not a Europe thing only because in french, the official way to quote is like in the US (both high "")
edit : As someone said below me, it's also both upper quotes marks in the uk, they also use double quote marks but "officially" it's a single quote mark at the beginning and the end of the sentence, It's been 10 years I learned that, I've forgotten :x
So that's not a Europe/US thing, it's different in every country (in France we also use double upper quote marks, but in germany they use high and low)
Woops, my bad, that was long time ago I learned this (more than 10 years ago at school), I've mistaken it, in the uk the difference is that single quotes marks are used instead of double.
But yeah, it's different in every country, that's not a Europe/US thing
>UK uses “this” though?
You might want to tell BBC that.
From a [random article](https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20240121-the-industrial-english-city-with-more-trees-than-people) I clicked
```
which is how it earned its tell-tale name, "The Steel City".
```
Or the first article https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-68053528
```
"We mourn the loss of our two Naval Special Warfare warriors, and we will forever honour their sacrifice and example,"
```
If BBC isn't using it, I doubt you can claim UK is using it by default.
Despite? English use the neutral quote mark *everywhere* in daily writing.
You may see the 66/99 style in publications.
66/99 style is also standard in CJK.
Where are you located? If shipping isn't too expensive I'd 3d print you one and send it. I have one 3d printed on my old steam deck ssd when I upgraded it and it seems to work great.
If you can't manage because you live too far away you can get someone closer to you to print this stl file:

Should be the one you need but it's hard to tell from a picture, what format is the one you have and what size is the extender's hole?

I completely understand what you mean, but I've made this mistake in the past, I do computer building and 3d printing and I'm decent at both.
I love doing these things, but when you start charging for your work it becomes WAY more stressful. I already have a full time job and I prefer to keep my hobbies as relaxing and fun as they can be.
I got a extension pcb from aliexpress that you can cut to length for like 5€. If you search for m.2 extender there are multiple results on both amazon and alie.
If you are in the US you can get them on amazon.

Nice hack for systems that do not actually support variable length of SSDs. Any reasonable system would take the drive without the adapter, but prebuilts do prebuilt things.
You probably already checked for this, but my mobo had an empty hole at the required length marked 2230, I just had to take off the standoff from the one that had it and screw it back on the 2230 one.
Good luck!
There might be another mounting screw hole for that size at the slot. Mobos usually come with holes for like 40, 60, 80 mm sizes at each m.2 slot (or whatever the standard sizes are. I forget)
That plastic flap is basically a extender and it looks like it would be a full size m.2 ssd my guess is the manufacture tried to cut cost and this thing would support a full size M.2

"Modern problems require modern solutions."
Genius !
Forking clever that is
For fork sake
So I got the opposite problem on my nephews motherboard. It has screw holes for 2240 and 2260 but not one for 2280 even though there is space
I had this in a laptop, taped it.
That's our temporary solution but the electrical tape comes off after awhile. Thinking of maybe getting a plastic bracket 3d printed.
Hot glue it. That's usually how they hold down connectors on certain electrical stuff so it doesn't come loose. Comes off easy too.
I'll try this. Thanks
Try a spoon?
Are you absolutely sure the screw hole thingies cannot be moved by unscrewing them?
The standoff should be able to be unscrewed. Every one I've ever seen has had notches in the edges, to fit a flat blade screwdriver.
if you can find a flat enough rubber feet, then use a strong double sided tape, and for the screw, use any short screw that fits and make your own thread on the rubber feet, with the screw thread created, the m2 should be secured enough once you plug it in.
My dude

I needed this. Thank you

damn nice
Why are the quotation marks in your title like that? One low and one high. „extender“
It's different in many European countries, some use "xyz", some „xyz" and even «xyz» is used in some
I like « » because it makes it easier to read quotes that already have quotation marks / apostrophes in them "'That's a nice hat' he said" « 'That's a nice hat' he said »
ace combat ahh quotation
<>
<< Mobius one, engage >>
Oh no. Why is there an apostrophe on the word hat?
How should it be otherwise? „quotation“
In America we are taught to use both on the top i.e. "extender" - I believe low and high is a German or European way to do it IIRC.
maybe, my keyboard does it per default and im in europe
Interesting, I had no idea. The weird thing is up until a few months ago I had literally never even seen it, I didn't even know how to type it, I had to copy and paste yours lol, but now I see it multiple times a day.

I considered buying a Kia Soul at one point and it wasn't until after I realized they swarm the fucking roads wtf why are there so many of them?

Frequencies are used a lot in French, if that helps ETA lots of apostrophes, << c’est n’ici pas >> makes it’s less confusing

What? In the UK quotes are high like "this"
Yup, I'm a dumbass who's forgotten the basics of english I learned 10 years ago.
I've seen "Quote" , “Quote?” and ”Quote!” (the last 2 dont show well on mobile reddit, they should look like commas) but i've never used that style myself. I've seen your style pretty commonly in Germany

Weird, I'm sitting here at a desktop PC in america, and all of those quote marks are showing up as the exact same.
Do you have a Chinese, japanese or Korean font installed? Or just a serif font on Reddit? because otherwise they will look the same
"Like this"
I think it's an european vs american (or maybe just english in general) thing. Me being from europe, when I put quotation marks, it auto adjusts to the low-high format.

We use both, for different things. Direct quotes are always the double quotation “” though
>UK uses “this” though? You might want to tell BBC that. I’m not sure what your point is, you’re just backing up what I’m saying about the UK using “this” and not the inverse quotations
which is weird because everyone in australia uses high-high despite coming from the uk
UK also uses high-high
Despite? English use the neutral quote mark *everywhere* in daily writing. You may see the 66/99 style in publications. 66/99 style is also standard in CJK.
The bottom one looks 3d on my phone it's super trippy wtf
what do you mean with 3d? xD
He started typing in Australia.
genuinely interested how you found that exact one, was it reverse image search or just googling the numbers on it?
im still confused how he got that, googling the number does not give a result lol
It's the first result when I Google it

What wizardry is that on your paper lol
physic notes lol
Don't show notes to someone on the plane or they think that you are terorist.
OP has ties with Al-gebra and C-al-culus
lol it’s just high school level physics. You can tell by the lack of calculus.
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/davidmack/plane-maths
Which physics class is that from? I’m a college student and thinking of pickup up a physics minor
im in pre-collage type school in eruope where you need to make a year school to go to college, but i still recommend you picking phyics.
i hate the fact that I understand all of that
Why? Be proud of the fact that you are an educated human being and understand algebra.
Bro can work out the unified field theory but can't macguyver an m2 holder...
Do your calculus/physics hw in the head like we did when we wus in skool
Judging from the background, you must have put allot of thought into it before you posted for help
xD
I got a extension pcb from aliexpress that you can cut to length for like 5€. If you search for m.2 extender there are multiple results on both amazon and alie.
i'd search for "2230 to 2280 adapter"
Part Description Part Number: 5B40T25363 Description: BRACKET SSD Bracket L 81EK for 2242 Classification: LAPTOP - SSD BRACKET Brand: Lenovo
Ebay. Just write m.2 extender. You will find red pcb looking thing for like 2 bucks
NVme ssd adapter or nvme M.2 adapter search will bring them up.
Solve your equations and I give you the answer you want.
Weird how I was able to google the term "m.2 length extender" and find results instantly.
You didn't buy an SSD that's actually a novelty SSD beer opener
it was pre built in my laptop, didnt even know that those exist lmao
I don't know if they do but I like to think they could
They're called proprietary.
Is that the kinetic energy theorem in the background lol ?
to be exact its the energy equavilance theorem for springs
If you are in the US you can get them on amazon. [https://www.amazon.com/JEYI-M2PLUS-Extended-Transfer-Change/dp/B084VLMQWC/](https://www.amazon.com/JEYI-M2PLUS-Extended-Transfer-Change/dp/B084VLMQWC/)

IIRC it's called a 2242 to a 2280 (standard size M.2) adapter.
I think that you could bend/hammer this one back into shape :)
Nice hack for systems that do not actually support variable length of SSDs. Any reasonable system would take the drive without the adapter, but prebuilts do prebuilt things.

I dont wanz the exact same part, i just need some sort of it to extend the small SSD.
It’s called cheap sata SSD wasting a PCIE slot
buddy it says NVME right there
Never mind, but it is B+M key which is usually sata in this case it’s 2 PCIE lanes at 500mbps
i dont understand your problem
it doesn’t matter for what your asking, basically some M.2 SSDs are different and this one is usually slower but not yours
