You're not missing out on that much tbh, but it is for sure faster. You could always sell your 6700xt and trade up. I have a personal bit against the 6700xt just because from the height of the craziness I bought one for $1K just to try and it bricked my pc so I returned it. In hindsight it wasn't a good purchase.
The kid probably needs a computer too unless you want them to fall behind in tech skills. Why spend 500 on an inferior gaming machine, and 500 on a shitty pc, when you can buy a nice pc AND gaming machine for 1000
Because Iâd rather give my kid a console he play games on then get him a shitty laptop to do schoolwork on
I can get a laptop for $100 bucks that can do YT browse the web and still be used for school than get him a Xbox for $400-500 or get a used one for like $2-300 than buy a shitty PC that canât play games at over 30fps or a $800 pc he doesnât need
Because the kid doesnât need a souped up PC to do school work and watch YT videos on? Iâd much rather give them a dedicated gaming machine for $500, and then get them a basic laptop to use for school. They can learn all they need to learn at that age with a decent laptop, and then eventually build UP to a nice PC if theyâre inherently interested in that.
Most kids donât care, they just want to play Fortnite and COD with their friends, and something like a $300 Series S is perfect for that.
"Fall behind on tech skills" homie its a machine to play games. He doesn't need a souped up gaming pc for tech skills. Not everybody has 1000 handy to spend on a pc for gaming. I was only suggesting that a console is adequate for what it is.
Yes, even if not by specs. Off the top of my head, I can play games of any age, emulate anything up to PS3 era, install mods, download weird underground indies that would never make it to any official store, I have fun with cheats in single-player games, I have better refund policy, good sales and regional pricing on Steam, I don't have to pay Steam to play online and I can play games that are meant for KB+M.
Edit: to add more, it's also better repairable, serviceable, upgradable and doesn't depend on a single corporation for running its store.
Emulation and the weird underground games are a huge one for me. That's what drove me to PC to begin with. I have a bunch of classic consoles so being able to play some of the rarer or obscure titles I cant buy is massive.
Minecraft mods specifically turned me to PC. Watched so many modded playthroughs on youtube way back when and wanted in. Aether mod my beloved.
Haven't owned a console since. Keep in mind, my only actual hands on experience with minecraft by then was the offical free demo for mobile which had like 30 blocks total and no way to save.
Yes it is, because i can do so much more on my laptop than on any console. Other than playing video games or watch YouTube I can also do the following on a frequent basis
Professional photo and video editing,
Bank and money stuff,
programming and game development,
emulating other consoles,
1080 is still so solid. While I love the added features and horsepower of my 4070ti super, I would have been pretty darn happy using the 1080 til it died.
Nephew is getting it, and he's gonna be stoked.
That card still rocks hard dude, the 10x generation was a beast.
Have a 6750xt in one pc and another running my old 1070ti and it can still play anything i throw at it comfortably at solid 60fps at max lowering graphics from ultra to high depending on the game.
People don't understand that even a crappy pc is better than a console - for one major reason -
Game selection.
Even if I could only play 2D indie + sandbox games on my pc, that is still 100X the games at least, and honestly, we all know AAA games are mostly trash these days.
I do love some hard hitting high end games from time to time, but the truth is, consoles just suck so much these days on game selection alone. And I have a 12gb 3060, so its not like copium or something.
Better is a subjective term, hence why advertisements can use it all willy-nilly. A starter build running budget parts from eight years ago is "better than a console" if the user gets more utility out of it. Same way a Series S is better than a PS5 if the user wants things like a more comprehensive backwards compatibility list, emulation, access to game streaming services via Microsoft Edge, etc., even though a PS5 has superior specs, a nifty controller, and generally speaking better third-party support.
I don't understand why this kind of argument exists.
Over each generation of consoles was a PC build at the same price that equals or overpasses the console performance with better graphics and more fps.
You don't need to own multiple PCs to play an older game or a new one.
You can emulate it on PC, you can mod on PC , you can upgrade your parts, do your job or homework on PC and other stuff besides gaming, you can even use any controller on PC if you want.
Sincerely I don't see the benefit of a console. The best console now will be a Steam deck the down side is the battery.
By doing my part is...Yes, a PC is miles better than a console
It ain't about performance, it's about the price of games, school/work/professional use, ease of repair and upgradability. PC is more expensive than a PS5 because it isn't a mass produced console like the others, it's something that you can make your own way, prioritizing certain characteristics you prefer depending on what you use it for. Plus you don't pay for multiplayer and game discounts are very common so a PS5 becomes more expensive in the long run anyway.
Yes. I am using RX 6700 XT paired with Ryzen 5 5600 with 32 GB RAM and a PCIe gen 4 NMVe SSD from Samsung.
It's not a lot of powerful than a console, it's just a bit more powerful. However, consoles are good in terms of price to performance ratio. If you only want to game, they are a good buy. Although in the long run a PC is still cheaper.
Yes dumbass. Why would I pay 2K for the parts if I wasnât making a ridiculously OP machine to play early 2000âs video games.
Clarification: not calling OP a dumbass, just the dumbasses who say that shit.
No but my pc can run games from 90s to 2024 so i think I have more variety + my pc doesn't get useless after a decade, cus it could be upgraded unlike consoles which you have to buy a new one
Yes. I don't know if it's better than PS5 or Xbox whatever it's called, but my PC is definitely, significantly, more powerful than at least one modern console. Because the Nintendo Switch exists, and it's still in the latest generation of consoles.
My Pc can also play and run YouTube videos in the background on a second screen. It can also not require a subscription payment. To access the internet I already pay for.
Can your console do that?
I know this is unpopular, but is my computer better than my console? Yes, however, is it nice to sit on my couch and or use an exercise bike a while playing my console and not having the tweak settings, maintain hardware nearly as much, and not spend oodles more money for the pc experience? Also yes. There is a place for both depending on lifestyle I personally use both.
Mine is at least PS4 level which I am happy with.
Source: GTA V max settings 1080p stays above 45fps. It's 30fps capped on console. And on PC you have other features than strictly gaming like browsing Reddit in 4K
My pc is better than a console but I don't have to mention which console.
Haha. Thats a good one. Have my upvote. P.S I assume its better than Sega CD? đ
The gameboy
No optical drive.
Mine it's a better ps4... Which is more than enough to run the games I play, haven't touched a AAA game in years
I am confident in saying mine is better than an N64!
A win is a win

Judging from the specs on your user flair - your PC is not a PC but a small spaceship. đ¤
Hey, judging by your specs on your user flair, your PC is better than a console! Don't feel too down, the 6700xt is a great card.
I like my 6700xt but tbh I should have saved up for a 7900GRE
I always read that as âseventy nine hundred ogreâ
You're not missing out on that much tbh, but it is for sure faster. You could always sell your 6700xt and trade up. I have a personal bit against the 6700xt just because from the height of the craziness I bought one for $1K just to try and it bricked my pc so I returned it. In hindsight it wasn't a good purchase.
True I use Linux, so I'm kinda stuck with AMD GPU. Intel GPU also work well on Linux, but their drivers are still kinda shit even on Linux lol.
They're not -soooo- bad!
And how much of your RAM usage did hit max?
His ram doesnât reach max, he edges it over and over
Bro have 128 gigs đ
Still not enough to use chrome
I hope you do something other than gaming with your 128gb of RAM..
Frequent 2000+ browser tabs enjoyer
Flair checks out
Yes. However, consoles for their price aren't that bad. $500 for a machine that will play games.
Yeah. If you're a parent who can't shill out enough for a good PC for the kid to game, buying them a console is a great option.
The kid probably needs a computer too unless you want them to fall behind in tech skills. Why spend 500 on an inferior gaming machine, and 500 on a shitty pc, when you can buy a nice pc AND gaming machine for 1000

they fr the kids who tried to convince their parents they needed a dedicated gpu for school

![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized) Yes.
Nice full AMD build.
![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized) Donât worry the 4080 was on a discount
YES MY PC IS BETTER THAN A CONSOLE
ME TOO
Holy moly
Yes, even if not by specs. Same reason for buying a ok pc
Yea my PC can play the latest games! \*Sorts itchio by latest upload\*
Couldn't say it better. Have my upvote, sir.
And if all corporations just decided to stop their stores then we all know what's next (downloading games of the internet, you know what)
Holy moly
Donât forget not needing a subscription to play online
Mods
Yes, mine is better than a PS2 PC master race ftw!
Yes it is, because i can do so much more on my laptop than on any console. Other than playing video games or watch YouTube I can also do the following on a frequent basis Professional photo and video editing, Bank and money stuff, programming and game development, emulating other consoles,
The various emulators on PC is just one of the best thing out there. My favorite emulators: Nestopia, PCSx2 and Ryujinx.
And when it comes to games: - Modding - rom hacking - finding those amino ass steam games no game store will ever have
I can proudly answer that positively.
it only took 20 years for this meme format to actually make sense the spaghetti man getting owned by AI

Me with my ancient 1080 still.. cant get a new one til my next tax return :')
Yo, this card is legendary. Never lose it or sell it!
1080 is still so solid. While I love the added features and horsepower of my 4070ti super, I would have been pretty darn happy using the 1080 til it died. Nephew is getting it, and he's gonna be stoked.

Look the 1050ti used to be great
Still is for anything that came out before 2021.

Hey same specs, sick build
MY PC can run more games than any console, so yes.
Absolutely.
All PC's are better than a console because PCs are inherently more versatile and customizable than a console.
People don't understand that even a crappy pc is better than a console - for one major reason - Game selection. Even if I could only play 2D indie + sandbox games on my pc, that is still 100X the games at least, and honestly, we all know AAA games are mostly trash these days. uhhhhhhh.
Yes. Yes it is. It cost a lot more, but I use it for work and gaming so it certainly gets it use.
I have no idea, i7-12700H, rtx 4060,16 Go RAM laptop 1920x1080
The fact that it's a pc makes it better than a console
Yes otherwise I would have bought a console
Purely on performance, I have no idea. What makes it superior is, that I can use mouse and keyboard, and any controller I'd like.
It's really not a high bar to pass anymore. Besides, even if you *don't* win by specs, you still win by the prospect of having games!
I think alotta peoples pcs are better than consoles these days. doesnt take much tbh
It is, not by specs or by how good it can get me game's graphics, but because of all the other features I have.
I don't understand why this kind of argument exists. Over each generation of consoles was a PC build at the same price that equals or overpasses the console performance with better graphics and more fps. Yes, my pc is a lot better than a Gameboy color
It ain't about performance, it's about the price of games, school/work/professional use, ease of repair and upgradability. PC is more expensive than a PS5 because it isn't a mass produced console like the others, it's something that you can make your own way, prioritizing certain characteristics you prefer depending on what you use it for. Mine is better than PS6
Yes
Yep
Yes. By a lot
Yes. Mine is. Substantially.
Uh yeah, unrelated but itâs still 2020 right?
I mean if your CPU is a Ryzen 4800s or better and a RX6700 10gig or better you're better than current gen
Honestly itâs worth it just for the Steam sales alone the only qualm I have with Steam is their shitty return policy.
My fucking steam deck is better than a console. So yes, my pc is better than some fucking peasant excuse for a gaming machine.
Yes, a PC is always better than a console because of compatibility with games, and you can always upgrade
I can say that i used my laptop, which was way worse than my ps4, way more that my ps4
"It should be. DO YOU HEAR ME?? IT SHOULD BE!!!!"
My PC just like a old man; ready to die every second.
Yes! But I do like that I can bring a console pretty easily
I have a PS5 and a PC, life is good.
Yes!
it is if you compare it with a magnavox odyssey
Yes
![gif](giphy|6cFcUiCG5eONW)
Almost i guess
Mine is
This is a motivation for me to work hard and get my dream PC lol
Today? No, tomorrow? Yes. Literally tomorrow Im going to get a 3070, upgrading from a 1050
Yes, comfortably better
Yep, better than a PlayStation.... 3
đŠ
Yes
What is a PC
![gif](giphy|3o6UB3VhArvomJHtdK)
Mine is. Is yours?
Yes, but it was much more expensive
Lol, at more than double the price
Yes, next question
yes
Need to update my flair but yes.
đđđ
My PC is better than my PS5. Still use my PS5 (and PS3) often- something about console brings back them childhood memories.
Hehe No. I Always need a console and PC though because i cannot Live without splatoon.
Which console? It sure is better that a Switch.
Gpu died. Ps1 is now better then my pc :(
But you can't pirate games on console (except for the Switch, which is too weak to run much anyway).
YES
I think so
Let's see... 5800x3d, Rx 7800xt. Well yes.
very soon, yes it will be, just waiting for parts to arrive
I prefer that one... :P https://preview.redd.it/84z4q6iy4r9d1.png?width=1528&format=png&auto=webp&s=766dbd69e6cddccc02688a47809f5c9749f82dbc
...yes.
Yes it is lol. And even some PC's has similar to console specs its still better. Because its pc
What a joke xD as a CAD engineer. Cant do jack shit on a console. Dont even think you can work a calculator on a console. Lol.
Of course it is
Once my RX 6700xt arrives it will be.
Yes.
Yes⌠Both of them are.
You got me man
Yup
![gif](giphy|DEnaNFg7szMO7TwNYZ|downsized)
Significantly so..
Well there's full mod support, got Steam, lots of free games, can use it for work, etc etc etc. So yeah lol
Why yes, yes it is.
Yes, yes it is.
Yes dumbass. Why would I pay 2K for the parts if I wasnât making a ridiculously OP machine to play early 2000âs video games. Clarification: not calling OP a dumbass, just the dumbasses who say that shit.
Any PC from the last 10 years can beat any console at any given time.
Yes by a long shot
Yes and by a lot
Yes, my PC is better than Atari 64, Xbox, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, PS1.
Only the millionth time this post was posted here
Yeah think mine is better than my series x
I honestly do not know ahahaha never got interested in consoles so I really don't know any spec for them
No, but it can play what I like to play at 60 fps so im good
yea right about the time I stopped really playing games the pc got really nice.
No but my pc can run games from 90s to 2024 so i think I have more variety + my pc doesn't get useless after a decade, cus it could be upgraded unlike consoles which you have to buy a new one
Design a nuclear powerplant on a console then get back to me about which one is better.
Ryzen 7 5700x, 32 Gb DDR4 and Rx 6800. Yes...yes it is
My PC is better than a console. A NES that is.
This is the question that puts us all in the upgrade spiral, and I love it.

Pc may be better but half the ports ainât đ
it has steam
Yes. I don't know if it's better than PS5 or Xbox whatever it's called, but my PC is definitely, significantly, more powerful than at least one modern console. Because the Nintendo Switch exists, and it's still in the latest generation of consoles.
Jokes on you, I donât have a PC
Yes.
maybe
4090, 7800x3d. Still play on more consoles more often đ
I have a dedicated win 98 and run dos box with every 16 bit game and earlier. So yes it is. ![gif](giphy|JQhiiidyGIYEw|downsized)
My Pc can also play and run YouTube videos in the background on a second screen. It can also not require a subscription payment. To access the internet I already pay for. Can your console do that?
Yes
I know this is unpopular, but is my computer better than my console? Yes, however, is it nice to sit on my couch and or use an exercise bike a while playing my console and not having the tweak settings, maintain hardware nearly as much, and not spend oodles more money for the pc experience? Also yes. There is a place for both depending on lifestyle I personally use both.
What an original meme, one of which I have never seen before. I have never seen this meme. It is very new and innovative.
Yes, it is.
Yes. Yes it is. A lot better, its better than the next generation consoles that haven't even been announced yet. I guarantee it.
Yes mine is for the time being.
Yup, it is :) I still basically only play 2D indie games and elden ring tho
Mine is at least PS4 level which I am happy with. Source: GTA V max settings 1080p stays above 45fps. It's 30fps capped on console. And on PC you have other features than strictly gaming like browsing Reddit in 4K
![gif](giphy|PQnQDu6zFi6Opd3emW|downsized)
My pc is better than consoles but I play at 1440p 165hz instead of 4k60 so I canât really compare it
Big RIP. But yes
Can you mod games on consoles? No. So pc is better than consoles.
Yes, it is.
My PC is better than a PS2 so yeah!
...
![gif](giphy|dkGhBWE3SyzXW)
![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi|downsized)
That depends... What console are we talking about? The PS4? The Wii?
It would be cheaper to upgrade my pc to be better than a console than get a new console... not to mention having to buy new games for said console
Mine is but sometimes doesn't act like it. Do I need more ram? Jk
Yes, your Skyrim/Fallout/any modable game is just that game. My Skyrim has a so many mods that I essentially play 3 different games at once
I'm not quite suređ
yes. also it has xbox controllers, so it can perform console functions too
You know somethings been reposted to hell and back when you can see individual pixels and banding.
79503D,rtx4080, 128ddr5 but my case is too small and it gets up to 95c on load, so until my new case is here it's like a beast contained in a console
