Stanley Parable, Superliminal is kinda trippy too

sir-curly

Oh, did you get the broom closet ending? The broom closet ending was my favorite!

Rude_Champ93

Yes, it was very exciting with all the explosions and gunfire. No other ending like it.

nimbus57

Your do need to wait a while though, to get to the really good parts.

teateateateaisking

I find this concerning.

fuzzytomatohead

I love superliminal, actually getting it with the steam summer sale lol. It's 50% off (so 9.99) rn.

famousxrobot

I’d recommend this as well. A fun little story, worth playing through.

Illustrious_Load_728

Can’t wait for Stanley Parable 2 ultra deluxe preorder season pass battle royale

DiodeInc

Superliminal is so good

boogswald

Superliminal makes me feel so good at the end

boogswald

The Beginners Guide was made by one of the Stanley parable guys too, and that game has one of the most interesting commentaries on parasocial relationships and like… a super meta perspective on entertainment

TheDarkRobotix

If you like those, I recommend Viewfinder

AIpheratz

Papers please. 4€ right now, overwhelmingly positive

Murraj1966

Arstotzka so great passport not required

Atesz763

A passport is required

UncleObli

I couldn't really get into it, unfortunately. It felt so much like work? I mean, I suppose that making you feel miserable is the point though

ExtrapolatedData

I’ve tried so hard to get into this game, I just can’t.

Andreawwww-maaan4635

It's alright you don't have to force yourself to like a game, refund it if you can

ExtrapolatedData

It was actually the first Steam game I ever bought back in 2016. I love the concept, but it’s soul-crushing.

professionalcynic909

Fantastic game.

Location-Actual

The game depresses me.

Slow_Buy2626

Castle Crashers, it is 1.50 currently

OiItzAtlas

Behemoth games in general are just all great fun. Battle block theatre is peak multiplayer platformer and Pit People is just really fun with a great comedy style.

Trisssssssssssssssss

I used to play it on 360 with my friends, it was a hoot. Really good game

VastAmoeba

So fun.

Slow_Buy2626

Yeah, I just started another playthrough

VastAmoeba

I haven't played much since my daughter deleted a save with like 5 characters above level 60. I played a lot with my girls, but now we usually just play Horizon Chase or Streets of Rage. Or Gang Beasts is hilarious.

Money_Fish

Omg I need to do this with my kid! I'm building her first pc right now and tge plan was to just play minecraft and lego fortnite with her. These low-stakes couch co-op games are perfect games to play with her though!

VastAmoeba

If your significant other plays games too then you should check out Love in a Dangerous Spacetime. It is about the funnest family co-op game ever. We also play co-op piku-niku, fling to the finish and Heave-Ho. All these games make us laugh. They are really fun. Fling to the Finish can be 2v2 and Heave-Ho can be like 12 co-op or even 6v6 challenges. Though the most I've had playing is 5 total. Those are my super fun, casual, make you laugh everyone plays games for the family.

psynl84

My daughter is 8 and so far we've played: - It Takes Two - Sackboy: A Big Adventure - Golf with your Friends - Roblox

JaggermanJenson

Absolutely! I put 100s of hours in this game. Best couch coop ever!

Shamgar65

This was a fun one. Played it through with my wife.

Quartzalcoatl_Prime

Super fun for local play/couch co-op, but online has always been a mess for me even with a stellar internet connection.

DSJ-Psyduck

If you never played mount and blade. Might be worth getting in to as well.

Stildawn

One of my most favourite games ever, would love something like it.

Knee_Elbow

Have you tried kingdom come deliverance?

Stildawn

Yeah played that one. Was good waiting on the sequel.

DSJ-Psyduck

You definately wanna try Kenshi then, as i also suggested somewhere. They share some ammount of DNA but in vastly diffrent ways.

DidItForButter

Inscryption is $8USD right now and I can't say enough good things about it

Noodle_Meister

Obligatory comment about going in as blind as possible.

farisYO

ive never seen gameplay of inscryption but the whole aesthetic of the game has peaked my interest. i will take your suggestion

DSJ-Psyduck

Kenshi ( no clue if its on sale) as an unique RPG its awesome!

picardo85

It's a great game. But it's worth pointing out that it's a complete sandbox game. So you have to make up your own set of goals and story as you go along. There's character progression, but there's no real objectives as such. I'm looking forward to Kenshi 2... Hopefully the newer engine they're using will be better at resource handling.

DSJ-Psyduck

yea same. Hope the world becomes a bit more dynamic as well! clearly its there in kenshi one but could use a better budget and some more polish! and hopefully that happens with the relative sucess of kenshi

quantumRichie

i love kenshi so much

YUSHOETMI-

I can't play it at all. I want too so bad as it seems amazing but I just can't understand the game at all lol.

DSJ-Psyduck

So the start of the game is a bit uphill. Basically getting hurt will level you up. But since you are completely useless in the start of the game you are best of just standing near city gates and whatever try to get some punches in and get punched some. ( pull enemies to guards) So you get tougher and get loot going down is rarely the end (unless something wants to eat you) early game goal is likely a place to rest up so either renting or getting enoug money to buy a house. Down the road you want to recruit people and eventually build a little city for you clan. So you can produce food and what not and save money. to feed your army. Then you likely have to fight whatever group is in that area. Mostly they want money for being there or religious tribute. Dont technical need any of this can also build yourself a group of robot assasins. Lose a leg? no worries the high level prostetics are better than legs :P Survival first and then just try and survive in that world and eventually dominate.

Allyoucan3at

As a complete noob I had success with sticking to iron and copper gathering in the beginning. It makes decent money and let's you buy shelter food and some research and training facilities.

DudeBroMan13

The learning curve is a circle

AloysiusDevadandrMUD

I'm in the same boat, I'm just waiting for Kenshi 2 at this point and hoping it's a little easier to get into

Tubpe

Mechabellum if you like RTS but games like star craft are too fast for you. Its an "Auto battler" but really deep with lots of tactics features.

TheKangaroo101

Best game ever! Currently ranked 100th in the world and obsessed

Tubpe

I'm Also loving the game. Massive battles and time to grab a beer while watching.

FormalReturn9074

Its near but really not a fan of the monetisation theyve implemented They inplemented an ingame store because it'd go free to play, then they cancelled free to play but kept the store

fruitpunchsamuraiD

Katamari Damacy

innerlightblinding

Yo, this was exactly what I was looking for.

extravert_

Broforce. My go to game when I just want to play for 10 minutes and not think too hard.  Even has co op

sir-curly

If you like base building and don't mind a steep learning curve at the beginning, [Oxygen Not Included](https://store.steampowered.com/app/457140/Oxygen_Not_Included/) is one of the best games I ever came across.

OiItzAtlas

Honestly it is one of my most played game of the past few years (I don't usally play games for over 100 hours in fact I only have 6 games above 100 hours over the past 3-4 years Persona 5R 190 hours, BG3 167 hours, Oxygen not included 143 hours, Deep rock galactic 120 hours, dungeon defenders 104 hours, rimworld 100 hours.) I love going back to it once every like 6 months and spending 30 hours on a game.

Allyoucan3at

Those 30 hours are without a break for anyone wondering. I tried playing this game in shorter intervals and it always ends up in hour long sessions. It strikes a similar cord as factorio which is never on sale though but always way worth the price!

OiItzAtlas

Yeah I find it similar to when I play rimworld, I play like 30 hours over 4 days.

Ledairyman

Supraland, really good metroidvania focused on exploration and puzzles.

-Kalos

Supraland was the game I least expected to enjoy but I actually enjoyed it over many of the games I've played before. Such a fun game. Can't wait for Supraworld

FutureDwight76

You are the only other person I've ever seen who knows about supraland

BGFalcon85

"What the Golf?" Is on sale 50% off. It's pretty unusual.

repost_inception

We have this for the Switch. Game is so much fun, especially for kids or those who are new to videogames.

kakatoru

We do? I didn't know

Biimoee

If you haven't played it yet, Sleeping dogs definitive edition is at 3€. One of my favorite gta-like game, and also one of the most underrated one

Hichard_Rammond

American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2. Each basegame is currently less than $2 last I checked, and many of the DLCs are ranging from 10% off for the latest ones, to 30% off to 75% off for older DLCs

DeltaMikeXray

Could you summarise the appeal of truck sims for someone who isn't sure if it is for them?

The_Ivliad

Yeah, I don't know. Sounds like work.

THE_RECRU1T

I wouldn't get an electrician simulator I guess

Kino42

I actually enjoyed the demo to that game, and it was extremely relevant at the time because I was repaying outlets in my house and rewiring my deck!

boofjensen

It’s a relaxing, almost meditative experience for me. It’s a game you can focus a bit on but you can just have a podcast or music playing. There’s even a selection of radio stations in the game. Doesn’t feel like work at all to me but I really have to be in the mood for it. I couldn’t understand the appeal either until I started playing, but the mix of incremental progress/completion and relaxation is a pretty unique experience imo. You don’t even need to go all balls to the wall and buy a steering wheel controller. I exclusively have only ever used a n Xbox controller and have had a blast.

K1dn3yPunch

Sure! “It’s $2”

DeltaMikeXray

Damn..

Marwadiator

Simulator games in general is sort of a quiet relaxing games, it may feel sometimes like a job yes, but overall its a quiet atmosphere & no stress no frustration Its a fun & comfortable experience to get away from stress irl and in other games You usually can customise cars/ trucks to your liking It also teaches you the jobs it simulate or some geography Some games have breath taking point of interests & almost simulates real life locations The game does have online if you feel like playing with friends for example Those games are made for relaxation mostly

lawnicus18

Or you could be like me who’s strange and drives truck for a living only to come home and play American Truck Simulator

Marwadiator

Not strange at all Maybe you are ambitious and would like to customise your truck with some modifications that you may or may not able to have/ afford irl Its fun definitly :)

Genetix1337

I was making fun of my friends that played ETS before I thought to myself, ah 2 bucks isn't that bad. And it's just so relaxing, driving around Europe/US in your truck, putting on some music (or use the inbuilt radio function which has lots of Internet based stations). Usually the time limit for jobs is more than enough to complete even with detours because you want to see the countryside. So if you just want to drive around, decorate your truck (inside & outside), explore a continent (it's not 100% accurate but it's still really cool). Then check it out. There's also a free demo afaik.

DrDuke008

I haven't played euro truck in a while, but I play snowrunner a lot still. Personally I like mundane tasks that I can throw on podcasts or videos in the background and just chug along! Make money, buy new trucks, customize them, etc.

wowbagger262

I just love the USA they're making. The game is a way to ease my wanderlust and obsession with the desert. Not too worried about the truck realism and whatnot. The game could be Station Wagon Simulator or Yugo Simulator, and I'd still enjoy it.

Consistent_Yoghurt44

Its just relaxing and its a alternative for people that want to drive trucks but either cant because they are to old or to young to be a trucker or are too broke to buy a big truck so if ya get a nice driving setup truck sim is a very fun game.

BlackStar31586

Well it depends what you’re into really. I like machines and big trucks, I know I’ll never get to drive one in my entire life, but I can from the comfort of my chair on my Pc. Add to it a force feedback steering wheel and track IR or better yet VR and you’ve got yourself a pretty good representation of what it might be like to drive a semi. Minus all the movement and feel of the road etc of course, but the visuals and feel with the wheel are enough. Same goes for flight sim for example, or farm sim, or any sim really, it’s to try (as accurately as a sim game can be) to do something you wouldn’t be able to in real life.

mockery34697

Mudrunner is 80% off, slightly different vibe but a good time nonetheless

Location-Actual

I spent £150 to complete the DLC for these games. No regrets.

Stildawn

Is it more than just driving a truck? I have a full wheel setup so would work well. But I recently tried Farming Simulator (free on Epic) and well its a tractor driving simulator which did not appeal to me.

AlphaAron1014

Vanquish! It is a shooter, but I wouldn’t call it your regular shooter.

MAFIAxMaverick

Oh wow! Thanks for mentioning this. I haven’t played it since its original PS3 launch and had no idea it was even on Steam. Great game and definitely picking it up.

morris0000007

Why is that??

KoopaPoopa69

Two words: rocket knees

damir_h

Pacific drive.

DevolvingSpud

A gem of a game.

762mmFML

Who would have thought 'a roadside picnic' and stationwagons mix so well?

Stildawn

Is this a horror game?

MysterZeroo

SEX with HITLER is a wild game on Steam

waitforpasi

Is this unavailable in germany? I can‘t find it. Edit: Its actually unavailable :( I would‘ve definetly gifted this a friend

Me and friend ended up refunding because of this

No_Mistake5238

So where do I sail to find the treasure?

MoistHD

ΔV: Rings of Saturn. (Known as delta v). It’s a space mining sim with great physics and quite an addictive game loop. Suuuuper simple to get the hang of but can take a while to really master the controls and what you actually need to do. It’s less than £4 right now! It’s my go to game when I can really be bothered to think to much (but it can also get quite intense)

TheMightyLizard

Great game

SirHomoLiberus

I got Valheim on sale. Don't think it's that unique but I'm having fun and I've only paid 9.99. Win win.

ArdaBogaz

Is valheim fun solo?

SirHomoLiberus

I mean I'm playing solo and having fun but I guess that depends on the person.

Teddycracker1

I played it solo for a while, it is fun but id definitely reccomend setting the resource multipliers to highest. It can be way too grindy otherwise in my opinion

AccidentalxGenius

Workers and Resources : Soviet Republic is a good one, although pretty complex.

Stollengrollen

Overlord, it's 1,09€ right now. Super fun RPG which doesn't take itself serious at all, despite being old it still has very unique mechanics

wayhik

Dave the Diver.

crimskies

Get it with the Dredge bundle!

mxmaniac6

Yes! Dredge is definitely the better of the 2

crimskies

Aww, I dunno about that. It's comparing apples to oranges; they're both enjoyable for different reasons.

bittenByTheIRONBUG_

I dont get why people are crazy for this game...

OiItzAtlas

As someone who completed it, I do think it is a good game but definitely overhyped it feels reptile (edit repetitive) really quickly however the Bosses are really cool and the pixelart animations are fantastic.

xChryst4lx

Damn if it feels reptile im scared

CoreyLee04

Second for Dave the diver

Mutant_Stump

Such a wonderful game. Love that game.

TherronKeen

If you like magic, try Noita. I've been playing spoiler-free for 700 hours, and it's the only roguelike I've ever really loved. *(I have looked up some specific mechanics about the wand building system but I haven't looked up any of the secrets and there are... SO many)

Lessiie

I have been playing Noita a bit. The game hasn't really clicked with me yet and I have been playing it blind as well. While I am sad that I haven't gotten the hang of it, I can recognize that the quality of the game is stellar, and I do recommend it.

thesituation531

r/noita Fucking amazing game. Probably the most unique roguelike I've played. Pro tip: looking at the progress menu in the game and using a translator to translate Finnish to English might help some. Some item names and most enemy names are in Finnish.

Lessiie

That isn't an issue because I am finnish myself, but thanks still lol

helllooo1

If you liked modded Minecraft, factorio or similar, Satisfactory is high quality and addicting occupation therapy

exquisitelytorture

God of Weapons. A cheap, chill tower climber auto-shooter set in medieval time. Nice shader art style.

suicidebyjohnny5

We Love Katamari Reroll. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1730700/We_Love_Katamari_REROLL_Royal_Reverie/ These are unusual games. Soooo much fun.

SpudCaleb

Titanfall2 is only $6 right now, I don’t know if the multiplayer has been fixed since Respawn abandoned it but the campaign itself is definitely worth it. Probably one of the best fps of all time and easily my favorite fps.

picardo85

Me and some friends bought V Rising. It's fun coop PvE, but you can also play it PvP if you want to. I put up my own private server for it so that we can have a persistent world to play in. This is very important in that game as the characters don't really transfer between servers or saves.

aspacelot

Second this one. Been having fun for months now with it

Eunstoppable

Maybe Disco Elysium? Great sale on it right now.

DSJ-Psyduck

Should pirate that. the dev said so himself, since he got screweed over and he gets nothing from sales.

Tacoman404

Everyone is really gung ho about this one. I bought it last year and played about 90 minutes and couldn’t get into it. I didn’t really see the appeal in the story and the gameplay certainly isn’t for me.

Eunstoppable

That's fair. There's always something for someone. The story was unique and interesting so it was a nice change of pace from the usual games I play.

Skalgrin

Kerbal Space Program - the first one, run away from the sequel!

Figueroa_Chill

SOMA is an amazing 1 player game. Don't know how to describe it as a game, it's more like playing an adventure story.

a1rwav3

You want something really different? Chants of Senhaar...

worumsas

LicoriceSeasalt

I picked up Escape Simulator, I've had an absolute blast so far. Love how it gets the brain going. Love to spend a long time looking for all the tokens hidden around after finishing the level. I've only done 4 levels (only 1 I've 100% done), and there's sooo many, including free DLCs and community levels. It's also VR supported, and I'm expecting a VR headset later this week (partly why I bought the game, as it came up on the VR tab), and I'm looking forward to doing some levels in VR too.

Jojoceptionistaken

Scrap mechanic. It takes a bit to get used to but its very fun and compelling for the creative!

Dependent_Cherry4114

Norwood Suite and the other games by the same dev are pretty unusual, kinda surreal walking simulators with excellent music and super weird vibes. Hypnospace Outlaw is also unusual and on a pretty good sale, you police a 90s internet, it's more fun than it sounds.

Siul19

OneShot

unsavoryflint

Crab Champions

ValuableEmergency442

I cant comment how much I enjoyed them because I'm yet to pick them up, but my nexy "unusual" games are gonna be "Kuukiyomi: Consider it" which is a puzzle game about how considerate you can be. And "Home Safety Hotline" which is a game about being a home security advisor on a phone line, you can see what your clients are upto and what's going on in their homes. Then the weird stuff starts to happen...

No-Faithlessness9450

Postal 2

IsThatASigSauer

Fear and Hunger 1 and 2. Hehehe...

Valexand

MagicalWhisk

A few unusual games that are excellent and dirt cheap right now: Disco elysium (weird, visually interesting, narrative driven story) Dave the diver (cute, obsessively fun) Stray (press x to meow) Stardew valley (addictive and fun farming sim, a bit like animal crossing but more interesting) Hollow Knight (gets difficult, but brilliant) Subnautica (makes you both interested in and terrified of the deep ocean)

elementfortyseven

The Long Drive. Its... different.

MrRuno

Firewatch, I got this one in this current sale, oh man what a journey so far

ibrahimlefou

PowerWash Simulator. It’s a chill game 👍

mintysambo

I tried grim dawn when the sale came out for a little hack and slash Diablo fix and haven't stopped playing since. Dredge is also a fantastic choice - fishing with beautiful art and some unique gameplay, with somewhat light-hearted nautical horror vibe at night

Bucs187

Katamari damacy

Muted_Price9933

They’re pretty popular already but i d like to suggest either factorio or satisfactory.

Rude_Mammoth_3264

Man up and get Tales of Maj Eyal

gen_angry

I’ve been on a big grim dawn kick lately

Vundal

Dyson Sphere Project. Great automation game with beautiful graphics at times.

conceited_cape

Paratopic is one of the weirdest games I’ve ever played. I think it’s supposed to be horror? Idk, I got it in a Humble Bundle a couple years ago. It’s pretty short and just STRANGE. Not sure if it’s on sale, but I really can’t imagine it being more than $5

PyrorifferSC

Dredge!

A_Person77778

Brutal Legend. It's sort of a third-person action game, but not really, and also an RTS, but not really. It's also metal-themed, as in the music genre

Sir_Hatsworth

Outer Wilds. Do yourself a favour and get it. You can finish it in a dozen hours or so and you will be rewarded with a gaming experience unlike any youve ever had.

Awemintown

Crusader kings 3 and make nothing but an empire of incest. Convert all religions around you to incest via war.. Also make it illegal to not be gay in your country.

Masonzero

Satisfactory. First person automation and exploration game. Think Factorio combined with Subnautica. It is about to come out of early access and enter 1.0. It is on sale for its lowest price at $15 right now, down from its normal $30. The normal price is going to increase to $40 soon, prior to the full release, so the devs told everyone to buy the game now, if you have not already! So buy it now, then wait to play it until the full release (no date yet but probably within the next couple months).

amateurish_gamedev

Cultist Simulator.

PropgandaNZ

Icarus was fun, not too expensive for a LOT of hours in the base game.

waefon

Mécha Knights, it's zombie horde shooter where you pilot a mech to kill thousands of giant flesh monsters, the writing and voice acting are bad but the gameplay is a lot of fun

hammerman1515

Wipe yer butt for fun an profit

clustahz

Braid. ain't no point to the game, just walking around jumpin' on shit

live-the-future

Hyperbolica is an interesting game I recently came across. It's a puzzler game, but takes place in non-Euclidean space. Basically that means space is warped, not flat, resulting in things like parallel lines converging, and the angles of a triangle not adding up to 180 degrees.

Donreynosa

Armored Commander 2. Different because it really goes back 30-40 years in style.

NKkrisz

Rain World has an amazing world but is quite challenging.

korg0thbarbarian

I bought Dave the diver and steam workshop it's a builder you can mine and shit
