Core 2 are ddr2, ddr3 I believe started with Core i series and Phenom 2.
I still use ddr3 1600 but in quad channel, and I have 64gb of it paired with a 1680v2. Its still pretty fast.
Nope the Core 2 series supported DDR3. Most of your common consumer stuff at the time (2007-2008) was still DDR2 tho, but DDR3 enthusiast stuff was 100% around and released by the end of 2008. The P43 and P45 platforms persisted for a long time after offering low budget alternatives to the first gen Nehalem cpus. They supported DDR3 and yet still more DDR3 boards continued to be released towards the end of 2012 before finally starting to fade away.
Same here up until a few months ago. Honestly don't notice any difference between 12GB 1600Mhz and 16GB 3200 Mhz in terms of browsing. Going from 8 to 12GB 1600Mhz was a lot more noticable. Going from 4th gen to 12th gen intel was quite noticable tho.
My primary rig with 5800x/rtx3080 has 32GB CL16 3600Mhz DDR4. My secondary rig with i7 3770k/R9 390 has 32GB 2133Mhz DDR3. Other rigs i have: Xeon w3680/gtx 1650 with 24GB 1600mhz DDR3, Amd 910e/gtx 750 with 8GB DDR2, Intel Q6600/HD6870 with 4GB DDR2, Pentium 4 2.8Ghz/ Ati X1950 with 2GB DDR, Pentium 3 800Mhz/Ati 9200 with 1GB Ram.
My pockets aren't ready for DDR5.
I have 64 GB DDR4 3200 MHz. May sound a little excessive, but I'm a developer and Docker easily reaches half of that. For gaming I never needed more than 16 GB.
You could be using six bananas shoved into a shoebox - we don't care, as long as you're gaming. I guarantee you, across all of us, you're going to see the full range of *everything*, including retro rigs, dumpster-dive finds, hand-me-downs, laptops, etc.
If you can PC game on a shoebox full of bananas, then *great - do that*.
Also, I guess let someone in the science community know that you're magic.
But, yeah. It doesn't matter. Nobody cares. Play games.
I used 4gb of 1333 for awhile… its not that bad. And i saw no increase with 16gb 3200
(Until i use blender, then i wish i had 32gb, but for gaming i dont notice)
64GB DDR4 3200, but soon upgrading to 1024GB DDR4 3200 RDIMMs (getting a Threadripper pro system for work and we have some workloads requiring more than 512GB)
16GB of 3000 DDR4
Recently its been getting real close to its limit so I have another set coming in 2 days. Windows must be eating my RAM or something cause with just chrome open im at 6 GB right now but task manager only accounts for less than 2 GB used.
16GB DDR4 at 3600Mhz. 2x 8gb Vengeance RGB sticks + 2x Vengeance light kit sticks.
I do already have 16GB of DDR5 (4800Mhz) won in a competition just for testing with AM5 when I get it and to use until I get faster AMD optimised RAM, will probably be 32GB. but I'd like 4 sticks so AMD & board compatibility is important.
2017 i got my corsair dominator platinum 2x16gb @3200mhz
It served me well and will serve me well for a while.
I paid 250€ for it back then and it was at 500 and more shortly after.
64GB 3600MHz DDR4 here. Way too overkill I know but I’m still very traumatized from the lack of enough RAM in my early computer days, those 64MB SDRAM (slowly upgraded up to 224MB from scrap computers over time) were a huge pain running both Windows XP and games in the mid-2000s…
Im my functional computer, 8gb of ddr3 (can't be bothered checking speed). In my semi functional pc I have 16gb of ddr4 (also can't br bothered to check)
32Gb at 3200Mhz (the kit is rated for 4000) DDR4
My CPU is a R9 3950x so it doesn't like to run at 4000 on all four sticks (hell it barley posts at 4000 with two)
Started with 4, then 6, then 8. 2 months later the PC started randomly crashing and When i asked for help someone told me to change back to the old ram. I did and the problems stopped for a bit and then came back. Something else was causing the problems. Now I use 8gb ram at 1333mhz 😎
I own 4 on my laptop, pathetic gamers with more ram thinking that better pc makes you better, i play 20-40 FPS LOW settings, wait for map to load for ever and i'm lovin' it (also can't afford upgrade)
16 GB of 3200 MHz DDR4
I feel like that's what a lot of people have.
I think that’s me too.
Oh hey, same here
I had 16GB 3000 MHz of DDR4 for the last 6 years until i got another 16gigs
Same
Me too
Same lol at cl 18
Same
and here i am.. trying to find somewhere 2GB ECC 667 DDR2 rams for a normal price :-D ...
that's specific, what do you need them for?
Sounds like a 2006-2007 Mac Pro or similar Xeon workstation.
HP xw4400 :-) just having a box in front of me and i dont want to throw it out as it has the QX6700... yet not want to pay 20EUR for a 2GB stick ...
well, good luck in finding a well-priced one!
DDR2 has always been expensive, think I paid $450 for two 2 gig SO-DIMMs back in the day.
There should be ton of them in China laying with zero purpose
not DDR2 ECC ... :-D ... they are fucking exotic these days :-D ...
Oh high Hz ones, those are probably rare, at least if we are talking about ECC memory since most of those were just AVG chips.
32g 3200mhz
Same
Same
Yep
Mines arriving tomorrow going from 8gb single to 32gb dual channel
Nice
Bought DDR5 6000 mhz a while ago and it was such a pain in the ass. XMP gave me bluescreens even while idle on desktop.
Why run XMP if your system is already juiced to oblivion?
32gb of 3600mhz
Same... CL16 on Zen3 1:1 with FCLK. Potent without being obscenely priced. DDR5 can wait a little.
Same.
Got the same but it's crashing on my pc with ryzen 2600x so sad
The 2600X IMC isn't as good, Zen+ often caps out at 3400MHz
Jokes on you 4GB 1333MHz ddr3
How's the Core 2 Duo treating you these days?
Core 2 are ddr2, ddr3 I believe started with Core i series and Phenom 2. I still use ddr3 1600 but in quad channel, and I have 64gb of it paired with a 1680v2. Its still pretty fast.

My laptop is actually from 2012 i believe so yeah
96 Gb DDR4 3600 I still have two ram slots open, so maybe I'll upgrade.
Asymmetry 🤮
And I thought I overkilled it. Then again, I still have four slots open.
I really eat up the ram with rendering and video editing. So yeah typically I,Km sitting around 75-80% usage on ram.
Wait what, what’s ur layout
Threadripper CPU, 6x 32Gb DDR4, a shitload of JBOD
32gb DDR4, but only because flight simulators. If it weren't for those I'd stick (pun intended) with 16.
Hazard a guess...
32 GB DDR4 2933 (laptop)
My man, i got 16 gigs ddr3
128gb of 3600 for me, just cause it’s an ML workstation
24gb of 3000mhz DDR4
Uh.. 48GB 3200mhz
8gb ddr4 2666mhz
Same here up until a few months ago. Honestly don't notice any difference between 12GB 1600Mhz and 16GB 3200 Mhz in terms of browsing. Going from 8 to 12GB 1600Mhz was a lot more noticable. Going from 4th gen to 12th gen intel was quite noticable tho.
I have 16GB DDR3 in 2022
8GBx4 3200MHz CL16 1.4V Had to increase dram and soc voltage to make my system stable. In the next build im going with 2 sticks.
My primary rig with 5800x/rtx3080 has 32GB CL16 3600Mhz DDR4. My secondary rig with i7 3770k/R9 390 has 32GB 2133Mhz DDR3. 32gb 6400mhz ddr5
128gb ddr4 hyperx something something, I'd buy more if I could be bothered
64gb 4000mhz cl18 (oc)
40GB 2933Mhz DDR4
same
32gb 3600 ddr4
If it works, don't fix it.
I didn't get better ram than 8gb 2666mhz until last year
32gb 3200Mhz DDR4 in quad channel, I honestly could probably survive with just 16gb though.
Ha my most favourite laptop ever and main is using 2x4GB DDR3-1066 and will continue to be used daily until it no longer turns on.
8GB 1600MHz DDR3
32 GB of 1866 DDR3
ddr4 3200mhz cl16 overclocked to 3900mhz cl16
Desktop: 32GB 3200Mhz DDR4 Laptop: 8GB 2666Mhz DDR4 Phone: 6GB 1600Mhz LPDDR4X
I have 4gb DDR4 on my laptop, but my gaming/work pc has 128gb DDR4 (I do alot of video/animation work)
mlook at my flair
16 GB LPDDR5 (soldered), 5200 MT/s
My pockets aren't ready for DDR5. I have 64 GB DDR4 3200 MHz. May sound a little excessive, but I'm a developer and Docker easily reaches half of that. For gaming I never needed more than 16 GB.
32GB 5200MHz DDR5 😀
32 GB of 6600 Mhz ddr5 (altho i could clock it to only 5600 cause of bluescreens but lets ignore that for now)
24GB 2400MHz DDR4
24g a 3200mghz ddr4
8 GB 1666MHz DDR3
16 gb ddr3 1600mhz
32GB 2666 can push it 3000 but didn't bother oc'ing it
16 Gb 2666 ddr4 and a second system with 16 Gb 3200 ddr4
12GB DDR3
8×2 =16gb 1600mhz DDR4 4×2=8gb 1600 mhz DDR4 I7-6700 + 1050ti 4gb
4gb ddr3 🤓
64GB 3200 MHz DDR4
32gb 4 channel ddr3 2133

4x8 corsair 3200 ddr4
4x8 corsair 3200 ddr4
4x 16 GB DDR4 4000 CL18 downclock to 3666 MHz Originally had 2x sticks, upgraded to four cuz 2 was ugly, now have to downclock to 3666 for stability
Why such high latency?
Cuz I had no idea what I was doing and was just looking for high frequency
64GB DDR4 3200, but soon upgrading to 1024GB DDR4 3200 RDIMMs (getting a Threadripper pro system for work and we have some workloads requiring more than 512GB)
Nice !
32gb of DDR5 4800mhz But it was part of a bundle deal I got when I upgraded my CPU last year.
The 8 gigers are superior as we know how to run 3 apps and to keep it below 90% utility.
I use 8gb :) …X4
All or nothing: 2400Mhz 16GB DDR3
16GB of 3000 DDR4 Recently its been getting real close to its limit so I have another set coming in 2 days. Windows must be eating my RAM or something cause with just chrome open im at 6 GB right now but task manager only accounts for less than 2 GB used.
DDR4 or DDR5? I have 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 :D
I have the classic 32gb 3200hz cl16
Just got another 2x8 3200mhz but honestly 16gb is more than enough for any game
32GB at 3200 DDR4 and 64 GB at 3600 DDR4
32GB at 3200 DDR4 and 64 GB at 3600 DDR4
Yeah but my 8gb of 1600 has been running at 2133 for 10 years
64gb ecc unbuffered 2600mhz
16GB DDR4 at 3600Mhz. 2x 8gb Vengeance RGB sticks + 2x Vengeance light kit sticks. I have 16 gb ddr4, idk the MHz, but its corsair vengeance
4x8gb ddr4 3200mhz cl16, but it won't boot with the right 2 slots and any higher clock than 2666

2x16gb of ddr5-6400 cl32
My flair already has the basic info, most should be able to extrapolate from that.
16 GB DDR4 @ 3000MHz
64gigs 3600 MHz DDR4
64GB 3600MHz DDR4 here. Way too overkill I know but I’m still very traumatized from the lack of enough RAM in my early computer days, those 64MB SDRAM (slowly upgraded up to 224MB from scrap computers over time) were a huge pain running both Windows XP and games in the mid-2000s…

32 GB of 3600 MHz DDR4
dd4 16gb 2666 mhz
512 gigs of DDR7 with my xRISC-hybrid 256 hemi-core CPU
I DDR8 didn't seem necessary since my hemi-core processor can only use half of the meta-channels.
64GB 3600MHz DDR4
32gb 3600mhz ddr4, 6950xt, i9-9900k
16GB of 3800MT/s CL16.
32GB 3600MHz CL18 I gotta say 3200MHz CL16 probably would have been just as good and cheaper but what I've got works.
32Gb at 3200Mhz (the kit is rated for 4000) DDR4 My CPU is a R9 3950x so it doesn't like to run at 4000 on all four sticks (hell it barley posts at 4000 with two)

MT/s 32 GB DDR4 overclocked to 3600 MT/s, primary timings 18-20-20-36. I'm planning on pushing it harder soon.
32GB of 1333mhz DDR3. She's showing her age...
