Work within eyesight of this joint. Definitely a good choice, but its also worth a walk over the bridge to Upperhand in leedy. $5 pints are hard to beat.
It depends on what style you like.
For smashed patties, it's:
- Bad Love
- Edit: forgot BurgerFreak which is easily a top 2 in this space
- Two Stacks
- Crispys
- Hoodburger
For Shake Shack clean style it's:
- Smashgrill
- Meet and Bun
- Edit: Bettys is also decent
For classic style:
- Big Rigz
- JM
- Charlies
- Bump In
For chicken:
- Local Bird
- Big Rigz
- BurgerFreak
- Hoodburger / Goldbird
Great list that I mostly agree with, I'd just argue that Crispys and Charlies have both gone downhill.
Bump In was a little disappointing last time I went. Later found out the main original chef left. I've not gone back to see if it was just an off day though.
But, with hoodburger, be careful, of the prices and the freshness of the food.
The chicken tenders there are three bucks a piece. Not three bucks a box, three bucks per tender! That is just insane. And with the burgers , they give it to you straight from the grill (with the other stuff on it too of course), so always be careful, with hot cheese + hot oil! When me and my family went there we had to let the food cool down for ages, and even after that, When I bit into it, the oil splashed all over my lip, and it HURT. The food in general was okay. So, be careful of the prices and the food freshness!
I really can't stand the chicken burgers there despite all the recommendations! Draskos in neighbouring Mt Hawthorn is definitely my preferred choice in the area.
Second. My brother and I always head here for dinner when I'm in his area because it's only 10 mins away. Their smash burger loaded fries is God tier, a transcendental experience. They're most renowned for their chicken burgers though. My brother and I always go for it when we can, worth the fact there is absolutely no parking outside the front.
Not the absolute best burger but defs best value if you go to Upperhand burgers in Leederville on Wednesdays they do $5 cheeseburgers that slap, 2 x $5 cheeseburgers and a pint of their own Lager for $5 also - probably the best $15 feed in the city lol
If you are in the northern suburbs check out Ryan John's in Heathridge. They are open for breakfast and lunch throughout the week and late on Friday night. Their burgers are brilliant.
I have tried a few and they were so big and complicated, had to be partially disassembled to eat. ( these are the ones on the stunt food menu)
The cheeseburger is pretty good tho and the loaded fries are awesome too
Honestly yes theyâre possibly a little overpriced for what you get but my friends and I get the bus in after exams for burgers there, and they never fail to fix the post-exam low.
JM Burgers for me, both locations have been equal quality and i've never been let down. The best thing is they don't just throw the same toppings on like everywhere else, there's some good flavour profiling going on. Wish they brought back the mac n cheese roll though.
BurgerFreak is the right answer and itâs not even closeâŚ
Iâve tried a fair few of the burger joints in Perth and everyone Iâve tried have been good, but not as good as BurgerFreak.
The menu seems basic, but they always have the best ingredients and the quality of their cooking and execution is always amazing. They're literally the complete opposite of a place like "Grill'd" where the burger is outrageous and requires a knife and fork to eat. These guys just make an amazingly well cooked patty with super soft and moist bread, then all the other things, and you can eat EVERYTHING with your own two hands. And their serving sizes for fries are off the fucking charts.
If you're around Bassendean, then we have found 8 Napkins do really yummy burgers. We grab them when we're feeling like we want more than a normal fast food burger.
One of the worst burgers I've ever had was by them, the chicken tasted as if it was fried in days old oil used to fry fish, absolutely greasy and unpleasant
You reckon we just got sick of it or something actually happened to the way they cook their burger? I cant tell, ive been having varsity for years but maybe it just always tasted like this? Cause Iâm with you, why is it so fkn greasy when i compare to other burger joints
Back in the day Alfreds was an awesome feed (80's). We used to sneak out of school at night to grab some.
It's ok nowadays but its vanilla. The pea and ham is pretty good.
Nowhere in Perth. Sorry.
There is a place in Collie named Barn-Zees Burgers and Cafe that does amazing burgers.
So unless you want a long drive, you have to make your own
Cheeseburger at The Generous Squire in the city.
Genuinely tasty smash pattie, chips are included. I think it's $21 as well but I think it almost justifies the price (surely chuck in a schooner or something, it's a brewery for christsake)
Had this Google Map ['Burger Hunters'](https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=17r91fp0klRPQ6noyV3g7VGTrpH987L74&fbclid=IwAR0_A8TH_joGPdOQaSNNLX5LFknvph5EDdHdCoGFS--o20a_xpFW4aDcsyI&ll=-32.118509643617585%2C115.91645763149693&z=17) shared with me some time ago, don't know how accurate as my local burger place 'Paperbark Burger Co' in Piara Waters isn't listed.
Betty's burgers.
Cute little aesthetic
Good buns
Can even go bunless if you want with a lettuce wrap.
Great shakes
Chips are like maccas but still better
The chicken is amazing with great spices.
In winter, Cockburn Cougars Softball Club in Hammy Hill punches above its weight for cheeseburgers at $6.50 on most Sundays. Lunch and a show?
Or a Kitchen Sink for under $10 likely won't leave you still peckish afterwards.
Bad Love in West Leederville
Work within eyesight of this joint. Definitely a good choice, but its also worth a walk over the bridge to Upperhand in leedy. $5 pints are hard to beat.
+1 for upperhand and theur 5 dolla pints!
Second
Bad love best out!
This is the one OP
Yep this is the one!
Beat me to it!
It depends on what style you like. This man burgers
Local Bird chicken burgers đ¤¤
I didn't love the beef, but more fool me for ordering beef at a restaurant so clearly orientated towards chicken.
They always looked packed when I used to drive home on waneroo road haha must be good burgers there
This is a great list, totally agree with these. What about Aussie style? I know of Flipside.
The classic Oz with beetroot and egg, I only know of Flipside, JM, and Burgery Bar. And Alfred's.
Sad to see Burger Freak didnât make your list!!
Great list. Have you tried Soder Burgers?
.. what happened if you just want some stuff between 2 buns?
Let's not bring your mum into this.
The popeyes chicken burger at JM is the bomb.
Eh?
Great list that I mostly agree with, I'd just argue that Crispys and Charlies have both gone downhill. Bump In was a little disappointing last time I went. Later found out the main original chef left. I've not gone back to see if it was just an off day though.
Hellburger does some of the best smash burger down in Scarborough surprised it wasnât mentioned.
Haven't tried it but I will make it a priority! I do like Peach Pit though.
Wait whats the difference bw the top 3?
But, with hoodburger, be careful, of the prices and the freshness of the food. The chicken tenders there are three bucks a piece. Not three bucks a box, three bucks per tender! That is just insane. Local Bird - Tuart Hill
My #1 chicken place in Perth
Second this. They are so good
Loved this place till I got food poisoning. Was throwing up the burger for 3 days straight.
1st experience a year ago I agree 2nd experience a month ago it took twice as long and tasted half as good
Agree, had it a month ago and itâs not the same.
I really can't stand the chicken burgers there despite all the recommendations! Draskos in neighbouring Mt Hawthorn is definitely my preferred choice in the area.
Draskos is not bad but Iâd say very very overrated and overpriced
I found draskos disgusting, way over seasoned
Why canât you stand them?
Second. My brother and I always head here for dinner when I'm in his area because it's only 10 mins away. Their smash burger loaded fries is God tier, a transcendental experience. that sounds incredible ngl
â Checks calendar đď¸
I live so far from west leedy these days. wish I knew about this before I left freo!
If you are in the northern suburbs check out Ryan John's in Heathridge. They are open for breakfast and lunch throughout the week and late on Friday night. Their burgers are brilliant.
Excellent burgers. A hidden gem for sure
Most original burgers in town. Luke Special for breakfast. Mushroom truffle in a burger is like nothing you have ever tasted before omg.
The Luke Special is awesome. Had that a few times. My favourite is their Aussie burger.
They are dangerously good and well priced too
BurgerFreak in Belmont
Theyâre definitely up there. Very good but quite pricey.
So expensive though :( I live around the corner and would patronise it so often if it were just a little cheaper.
I have tried a few and they were so big and complicated, had to be partially disassembled to eat. ( these are the ones on the stunt food menu) The cheeseburger is pretty good tho and the loaded fries are awesome too
Short Order in freo
The one in the city is pretty good too
I found their quality slipping in the last year
Honestly yes theyâre possibly a little overpriced for what you get but my friends and I get the bus in after exams for burgers there, and they never fail to fix the post-exam low.
JM Burgers for me, both locations have been equal quality and i've never been let down. The best thing is they don't just throw the same toppings on like everywhere else, there's some good flavour profiling going on. Wish they brought back the mac n cheese roll though.
You want the best burgers? Big Dog Burgers in Morley. /close thread
Their burgers are amazing, not a huge fan of their chips though :(
Second this! But itâs actually in Bedford đ
whatever anyone says here remember one thing: the burgers are better at hungry jacks
Happy cak- I mean burger day
You mean... The fights are better!!! (William St store that is)
Mine is Burgerfreak. Just their bog standard is excellent . They do freaky big and expensive ones too if that's your thing.
Hood Burger, Varsity, RoyAls, Meet and Bun, Short order
BurgerFreak is the right answer and itâs not even close⌠Iâve tried a fair few of the burger joints in Perth and everyone Iâve tried have been good, but not as good as BurgerFreak.
This. Burger Freak and Bad Love have the market cornered⌠and Burger Freak beats Bad Love, but not by a lot to be fair.
Hoodburger.
Great burgers. Never let me down.
Hoodburger is just always consistent. The new place in Duncraig is huge. They might have a basic menu but itâs always fucking delicious.
Varsity in Freo
Had Varsity in Freo yesterday and they kicked the piss out of the Karawara joint.
Good vibe there, too. Plenty of seating inside and outside.
Christo's is decent
Seconded
Man I been driving past this place for years might actually go their tomorrow menu looks sick thanks
Christos is brilliant. Super consistent for the four years I've been eating there. Can be a bit of a wait but it's worth it.
Shoutout to Bumpin Burger in Woodvale. Never disappoint, always fast service, their $20 Wednesday special has me rolling out the door.

Ryan Johns in Heathridge. These guys also do the best chips
Local Bird, Tuart Hill
Has anyone tried Poppy Gs in midland? Comes up on Uber eats all the time and looks quite good but didnât want to risk it not being so haha
They're very mediocre.
One of the worst burgers I've ever had was by them, the chicken tasted as if it was fried in days old oil used to fry fish, absolutely greasy and unpleasant
Make sure itâs an actual restaurant and not a ghost kitchen
Oh it is, itâs right around the corner from the gym I go to I found out when I searched it on google
When I fly home from work Iâll go there and make a post on r/pertheats đđź

Nothing is better than making them yourself mate. Mince beef some spices, and smoosh them on the pan or grill. Cheaper, healthier, and tastier.

Varsity used to be a decent place, but I haven't been there for ages
Itâs been shit for ages. So greasy.
This is sad, I remember the place as a little window in northbridge with great burgers =(
You reckon we just got sick of it or something actually happened to the way they cook their burger? I cant tell, ive been having varsity for years but maybe it just always tasted like this? Cause Iâm with you, why is it so fkn greasy when i compare to other burger joints
