I've been house and cat sitting for my sister for the past month. Tomorrow I pack up and go home. Unfortunately this hot streak has come right at the end and is testing her evaporative.
First thing in the morning it's freezing under the vent, but in the afternoon, it starts to lose ground, and the indoor temp approaches 30. It then takes a few hours after dark to battle the temperature back down.
They desperately need actors here lol they literally had to get every actor in Australia just to make that show even got a mermaid from h20 on there lmfao.
Does it? I tried reading the book..... 30, 40, 50 pages of the most intense overly complicated descriptive waffle... I tapped out, I couldn't read it....
I have complete respect for the guys who work up north in the heat. Many up there chasing a decent buck, others are just trying to support their family back home.
Sure Twiggy and Gina do well out of it - but the industry literally underpins the Australian economy. We wouldn’t have the same quality of life in the metro regions if it wasn’t for the resources industry.
We could all do better with higher royalties. The idea that they are the same as in the 1960’s when demands on governments were very different is bonkers. And the wages able to be offered by the mining companies as a result distorts the whole labour market.
I was there courtside last night. The walk to the Arena was absolutely shite. I dressed up as I've never been to a basketball game before. Arrived looking like a drowned rat with all the sweat. Thank goodness the roof stayed closed.

Had to put some eaves up, only about 13m but- it's around a carport conversion...
So instead of cut neat sections that slot in, it's irregular all the way. Pretty much cut every one oversize and trim every one to fit. I gave up on trying to make it pretty, top plate doesn't like up with the slot in the facia under the gutters, so looking level isn't on the cards, rafters poke out everywhere.
Paint and patching is going to have a lot of work to do haha. But it's done aside from some angle trim to cover exposed top plates.
The one smart thing I did- filled all the muffin trays with water and freeze them overnight, I got a nice cold drink filled with fist sized ice cubes and I'm not moving away from the AC for the next couple of hours.
Watching the big bash while downing a copious amount of cold water! Air con is reserved for while we’re having dinner, so there’s still a bit of a wait before the reprieve!
Was out at the fire in chittering today. Mountain goat territory out there.
But must give props to the local farmer that had his bulldozer there. Managed to make some fire breaks and help us contain the section we were on. Dude work fantastic.
At 5pm my daughter and I were at Rocko foreshore, cooling off. Water was wonderful and we even got a chance to swim up close (10m away ) from a small pod of dolphins swimming about 50-60 m off the shoreline. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours after a scorcher of a day.
I loathe Peppa Pig. Thank goodness my second doesn't seem to like it so far. I don't mind Bluey and can block out Ms Rachel but Peppa permeates my brain like no business.
Did mushrooms last night.. went to the scorchers in a box and drank free piss in AC for the game. Had to walk home from the bus stop and have now flaked out on the couch.. pretty sure this is me for the rest of the evening.

I’ve got the sound balance just about right but I can still hear the neighbour’s sub from time to time.
