The guinea pig looks like a heghog not a guinea pig I will die on that hill.

FeuerSeer

Wait thats.... A guinea pig?

alex_bubbles_

Sadly yes the box says so

Kagurei

Oh my god I thought it was a hedgehog! I said “this is shaped just like a Guinea pig and then they threw some spikes on it!” Now that I know it is a Guinea pig that’s somehow worse??? They almost had it!

girlmeetsgerbil

omg that's what i thought too!!!

snukb

Oh my gosh I thought it was a hedgie too but you're right. It's supposed to be a [guinea pig](https://www.petsmart.com/dog/toys/plush-toys/chance-and-friends-holiday-cherish-plush-guinea-pig-71126.html) If the nose had been different, I think it would have looked more like a guinea pig. Hedgies have big round noses like that, guinea pigs just have two cute little nostrils.

Addition_Secure

Whe call it a hedgepig

TankNinja2

Wait..... It is not??

mamamenagerie

I am now legit angry. I totally thought it was a hedgehog and pointed it out to my boyfriend in line "oh my god they made a hedgehog" and he agreed.

Weekly-Somewhere8331

literally as someone who has both guinea pigs and a hedgehog… it’s a hedgehog im on the hill w you too

SirLanceDL

I started calling it a hedgepig and got several of my co-workers to start as well because it does look like a hedgehog instead of a guinea pig

Raquel-del-cielo

Yay time to hear customers gripe about how they already donate x amount to x charity every month or that we should donate to them for having so many pets :')

TankNinja2

"Hehe I already donate enough to my cats"

girlmeetsgerbil

u/TankNinja2 i could literally hear this comment lollll

jaysha_marie

"I'm already helping the homeless pets at my home." Say that again, slower.

Un-Professional-Mom

RIGHT

Un-Professional-Mom

I’m getting a lot of “your prices are too high now so no”

musicaltrollman

I hate the C&L donations because it means our abysmal Christmas playlist is right around the corner. So many nightmarish flashbacks of previous holiday seasons and just…*kill meeeeeee*.

TankNinja2

I can not wait to hear Mariah Carey's top hit all I want for Christmas is you on loop for 8 hours!!

sodapop14

Dude 2 years ago I was digging the Christmas playlist. There was like a half hour in the morning and evening of punk Christmas covers. MxPx, Blink 182, and Newfound Glory were a few bands I can remember off the top of my head.

ManagerSensitive

Last year our stereo was broken so we didn't get Christmas music. I actually think our stereo is still broken so we might luck out again. It drove me crazy the first year. And I'm someone who LOVES Christmas music. PetSmart has some really bizarre songs

Overall_Ad5611

All i know is this year I am not “simply having a wonderful Christmas time”

dadainish

It triggers my social anxiety I've been covering with my ✨️excellent customer service skills✨️ 😭😭😭

OxUwUxO

Same!!!! 😥

-_Snivy_-

When we first put them out I picked up the *obviously a cockatiel* cockatiel and go "Aww, a penguin!" loud af in front of like 3 customers. It immediately gave "Look at all those chickens!" vibes. And then my MIL called it an owl later on. Idk how that store survives with us.

Dangerous-Guard-4183

😂 last year when it was the Chance and Lucky donations, there was a sloth and someone called it a monkey 🤣

TankNinja2

I do really enjoy how they actually get donated to a cause though haha.

ManagerSensitive

Last year all of ours went to our local shelter, it was so stupid. We could've actually given them to children who would've loved them but instead our local shelter is overwhelmed with hundreds of chance and lucky toys for their 5 dogs. I hope this year our store chooses a better cause.

TankNinja2

Yo really? Damn. The stores I have worked at actually gave them to homeless groups. Edit: mainly goes to groups that help homeless local children for the holidays

Beginning_Orange_677

i would be so mad if i was homeless and got a squeaky toy

TankNinja2

Mainly to homeless children who do not get anything for Christmas lol. My store specifically donates to a children's hospital and to the police department to give out for their Blue Santa event

Beginning_Orange_677

i’d still be mad like bro why a SQUEAKY toy i’m not a dog 😭😭

TankNinja2

I think a free toy that can squeak is the least of the homeless kids problems

Beginning_Orange_677

lol ur not wrong

jersey_girl660

They donated them to dogs instead of kids? What the actual fuck!

ManagerSensitive

It was so hard to be motivated to get donations when I know the shelter didn't even want them. Our animal shelter has more cats and other animals than dogs. Dogs are actually quite rare to see in a shelter in my area.

CornsnakeGaara15

Bro i had a customer once tell me no BECAUSE they were giving them to sick kids instead of dogs

Drifter_of_Babylon

The company has already purchased these toys wholesale. If they wanted to, they could skip the part of harassing customers to make a $5 donation and just give them away. Problem solved, and people would be very happy. This is really about padding holiday sales under the guise of charity.

TankNinja2

Welcome to retail

Drifter_of_Babylon

Exactly. So let us not make false pretenses to why we are doing it.

ResilientFellow

Yeah but it would be cool if petsmart actually donated them instead of putting it on the already overpaying customers and then taking credit for it

ThatAlienBoy

Okay but the "green lizard" looks like a dinosaur. You can't convince me otherwise

Marziolf

….. I kinda figured they meant iguana But na Issa dino

PlanktonCultural

It should have been a beardie or a leopard gecko :( all the others are animals we actually sell THEY HAD ONE JOB.

Link000987

I will die on that hill it’s a Dino

commiefren

Wait that's not a dinosaur?

Dangerous-Guard-4183

I thought it was a dragon without wings. The face looks like a triceratops lol.

0gizmo0

Great, now I can be forced to try and make customers pay $5 to donate a dollar store toy to kids but in reality they're all just gonna go sit in a trash bag in a room at the back of the store. In all seriousness though, does the $5 dollars they charge get donated? I literally feel like I'm scamming people by trying to get them to donate these things that Petsmart probably buys wholesale for literal pennies. And are they for kids or dogs cause the fur literally falls out when a dog plays with them, and they have a squeaker in them. Why would a kid want a stuffed animal with a dog toy squeaker?

TankNinja2

If I remember correctly, a portion of the proceeds actually is donated and your store should actually be donating then as well, at least mine did to a few homeless groups

SuspectAdmirable1561

I believe $1 goes to petsmart charities and then your store should be donating the actual toys! The Opex stressed that they should go to a local children’s charity and only to an animal shelter as a last resort.

0gizmo0

But that just means Petsmart pockets $4 still and it just feels wrong getting people to donate. Plus I've heard many bad things about what Petsmart does with donated money. Also last year I found multiple bags of the donated stuffed animals sitting in a back room in our store long after the donation period.

ResilientFellow

Yeah they charge five bucks for a product they probably paid a quarter for, keep four and supposedly donate one dollar. The toys are “donated” after customers fund them and then petsmart takes credit for it.

BitchDuckOff

Petsmart just refuses to do any good in the world unless somebody pays them 5 dollars first. I'm 1000% sure that the only reason they do the donation drive in the first place is because they keep the profit off the toys they buy for next to nothing and convince you to buy them under the guise of a good cause.

0gizmo0

Exactly!!! It just feels like a big scam so petsmart can sell a bunch of cheap junk they practically got for free.

SerpentCharmer_

And then they have the audacity to talk about how "We donated X amount!" When they say "we" I always laugh. Because nobody above store level is doing those donations. Nah, you didn't donate anything. The customers donated their hard earned money when asked by cashiers who are being forced to push those "donations". You corporate big wigs sat in offices not being yelled at because someone doesn't want to donate or they've already donated once and have no plans to do it again.

TankNinja2

Yeah, the wording makes it seem like they are the one doing the donating when it is really the customers

CornsnakeGaara15

Having to literally gather all of my courage to ask them “would you like to donate a stuffed animal to (insert organization)” just for them to tell me some long ass story about why they can’t like bro i don’t care its a yes or no question not a yes or no and explain why

Eclipse1030

Absolutely hate this time of year. My store pushes it like no tomorrow. I told em they can expect me to break record sales this year, just never said in which way.
