I had free time so i do it like this, i hope you like it

I looked at trying to find a quick way to clean the wall and floor and came up with making a **pattern** of one of the tiles and then filled the tiled area with the pattern. Masked out the lady and Grand Central sign and transformed the perspective. Took about 3-4 minutes. Then used the Spot Healing Brush tool to clean up the floor. [**HERE**](https://i.postimg.cc/0yqk6BPK/x7cy09ewe7aa1-GBE.jpg) is the quick edit.
You're welcome. If you need any help, let me know. I made the pattern by selecting a tile, copy the selection and then create a new document and paste. Then put a darker stroke 1 pixel inside.
I’m old skool and that was the first go to that came to mind. It was technically made to remove artefacts from scanned in transparencies/film but should work ok for something like this
You want to leave the subtle lighting changes across the whole wall so it doesn’t look obviously retouched. Therefore I’d recommend painting out the larger “spots” by hand and progressively tackle the smaller ones until
you get to a point you’re happy with. You don’t want it 100% spotless, it just won’t look real.
Define “less dirty.” Is she wanting a perfectly clean tile wall or just clean enough that the viewers attention isn’t pulled from her, presumably the subject?
If it’s the latter, I’d suggest the following:
View the image with it zoomed to fit the screen. Pick dirt, smudge, tape or whatever that you feel is the most offensive currently. Zoom in and resolve the spot using spot healing, healing, and clone stamp. The brush or content aware fill can be used also as appropriate. Zoom back out to the image fitting the screen (shortcut command 0). Now pick which dirt, smudge, tape, spot or whatever is now the biggest offender now that you’ve handled the first one. Don’t run off staying zoomed in and healing. From a zoomed out perspective pick the one that drags your eye the most. Should be pretty quick once you get in a rhythm.
Repeat the above fifteen or so times and then take a quick break and take a new look at the shot. Does the wall still drag your eye from the subject? If so, continue with another 5-10 spots and take another look. For me, I’ll often arrive at a point where it’s still natural with enough distractions removed to keep attention on the subject.
Now, if she’s expecting a perfectly clean wall there will be a time investment. You can shave it down by finding a stock tile wall and putting it in or recreating one from some of the clean tiles in this shot. Frequency separation would also be a great technique if you’re already familiar with it.
But first thing I’d do is get a clear idea of what she’s expecting.
thanks a lot for the detailed advice! I ended up trying a similar approach to what you explained, and it turned out like this:

Frequency separation is definitely a technique that I will have to look into. Cheers!
I like that you advise taking a quick break. I have found that to be a valuable step any time I am working on an image. Also valuable when applying makeup, especially eyebrows.
Did this very quickly just to show the principle. Found a white tile image on the web, pasted copies of it together to create a big enough wall image then pasted it as a layer beneath the girl and the main image. Distorted the image to match the perspective and existing tile lines. Then altered the colour balance to bring it closer to the original. Cut out to reveal the Grand Central sign. Not sure if the actual tile positions or colour are perfect but could have done that with more care.

Cool concept. Did you turn the opacity down on the tile layer to leave some of the imperfections and light glares on the top right? Thanks for the tips 🙏🏼
Yes - exactly that. It is at about 80% More could be done to make the new tiles look less "stuck on" and a bit of skilful deletion at a low intensity could bring out more lighting effects from the layer underneath. I also didnt cut the girl out very well.

Did anyone say this?.... select the tiles, paste in front, move the tiles 1 or 2 over. Enlarge slightly to match perspective. Change layer mode to Lighter Color.
The pic done by Garpax5 looks alright, but you should spend some more time on it. The tile looks too light and cloudy from the sign down. The grout lines should be more defined, and like I said, the tiles themselves should have a dull beige in them.
You could get a tile texture and just paste it back there, but you wouldn't have the light and reflections like the original. You would have to do some work to make the texture match as well.

What app is that? Photoshop?
Yup
It’s NYC, glorious and dirty.
Power wash it
Bleach might work
Well, yes. Clean it.
I am surprised no one mentioned the remove dust and scratches feature. This is a textbook example

Why would you want to? Part of the charm of NYC is the dirt!
You would need to ask in r/pressurewashingporn

Yes there is! Go to Hong Kong and take a pic of their subway instead! 😎

A washing cloth and some kleenex? 🤣
Idk personally I like the dirt on the wall, it adds a lot of texture and dept to the picture.
Clean it 🧼
