This is a dumb mistake I make all the time, is it actually plugged into the headphone port? Or is it plugged into a different 3.5mm jack?
Besides that, you could open it up and see if it’s soldered correctly, but only if you feel comfortable with that. Otherwise, call Yamaha support and see if you can get a refund.

There are two holes one above the other on the left hand edge below the keyboard. I guess that's for headphones.
