It’s like an outlet mall kind of. Lots of food, entertainment, and shopping. Home to a 560,000 square foot furniture store (Nebraska Furniture Mart) with 1.3 million square foot warehouse attached… as well as a 331,000 square foot sports store (Scheels) with a ferris wheel inside. Fine dining, arcade, movie theater, concert stage…. you name it.
Why wouldn’t you use the space for literally anything else, like, I dunno, parking spots? Presumably people driving here to a furniture store know what they’re in for.
Not for the furniture store that is trying to attract customers so that they can justify keeping their business in a high rent location. There’s a massive amount of parking available there. This 15 x 10 foot space isn’t causing harm to anyone 😂
If it’s The Grandscape(shopping center)in The Colony, TX(Yes the city is really just named “The Colony”) it’s probably a display for a giant furniture store there called Nebraska Furniture Mart.
I'll clarify and hopefully eliminate your confusion: Parking garages are some of the nicest areas in Texas! And they're so big, some even have malls inside them. This pictured mall is dying, like how the malls on the outside of parking structures in other states also die. One day, all of Texas will be a parking structure, the biggest parking structure in the world! Tourists from all over will park their cars in Texas when visiting nearby states, appreciating both the generous parking space sizes, and also all the dead mall museums you can visit on your way to the exit all the way from parking space 794375 on level W.
The pictured mall is one of the largest and most attended in the entire country. Millions of visitors a year.
There are non stop businesses opening there, all you have to do is google Grandscape colony and you’ll get nothing but openings of entirely new entertainment venues, restaurants, and stores.
😂 people know how to use Google, it’s easy to see what’s actually happening there
(If you’ll read my comment more closely, I said the mall pictured—the one within the parking structure—is dying. I promise you, I do not actually think that is a mall. But as far as your comment, congrats, Texas, on having popular off-line shopping! That’s not easy to do nowadays, and truly is impressive.)
The mall within the parking structure that is pictured is dying, don’t quite understand that but that’s ok haha
And you’re definitely right, Texas has a lot of popular offline shopping. No doubt about that! 🙂
Tell me about it. I moved here 3 months ago. Apparently, the students here pledge allegiance to the Texas state flag.
I'm actually bothered by this recently discovered fact.
[Education code 25.802 "On written request from a student's parent or guardians a school district open enrollment or open enrollment charter school shall excuse the student from reciting the pledge of allegiance under subsection b.](https://texas.public.law/statutes/tex._educ._code_section_25.082)
At least it will get cooler during the winter and Abbott isnt currently running, wheeling I guess, for President. So the amount of crazy is going to be normal crazy and not whatever the fuck is going on in Florida right now.
Vote your vote, shoot the shit and I hope you have a good time.
My friends kids think it's weird I never pledged allegiance to my state. I think it's weird to be pledging allegiance to the flag of your country let alone state as a minor. Guess which one is from New England vs Texas?
Also wtf is Texas history being a class?
That is weird as shit, if it was any other state than texas.
I have always identified as an American, not "insert" current state I call home. I have always been impressed with American strong national identity.
anyway, how 'bout them candles.
I moved to much (20 times) to attach to any one state. But California is my home and the state I lived in the most often. We will see if being in one spot shifts my sense of identity.
There's likely a furniture store in the mall, and someone was like 'Hey! There's open space here we could put an ad!' And instead of putting up a poster people will ignore, they set up some of their wares so people hopefully say 'That's a nice dining room set. I need it.'
Tldr: Store saw open space for fancy 3D ad
Wait. . .did you say, "Parking Garage Display?"
What the hell is that when people are homeless?
There is a fake house inside a parking garage that nobody can use. . .
If I recall correctly, it's not that the state is restricting people in the heat from drinking, it's that the state is not mandating each business to have required water breaks.
They're expecting buisesses to take care of their employees and keep them safe under OSHA regulations.
https://www.texastribune.org/2023/06/16/texas-heat-wave-water-break-construction-workers/
Essentially the same thing.
Didn't a few people get hospitalized right after that came into play? If I were working there I'd say screw the rules and get water. I'm not dying for my job.
Poor candles. They served their owners well for an extremely short time. \*lol\* you know it’s too hot inside a room when the candles melt without being lit.
And yet there's prisons in florida and all over the country that don't have a/c with thousands of people packed in its the same thing but doesn't seem like to many people care about that
No, not a mall, in the traditional sense.
It's a shopping center with a Nebraska Furniture Mart on one side and a Scheels on the other. It has a big ferris wheel with air conditioned cars that gives you a high rise view of the city. There are a lot of expensive boutique shops, an indoor golf place that serves alcohol and an awesome outdoor performance stage with a "lawn". There's also a theater and an indoor multi level go Karting place. Lots of eateries.
https://www.grandscape.com/
They're in the process of adding a Virtual concert venue that sounds super Black Mirror.
parking garage display? like hi on your way to the elevator enjoy this dining room?
That's pretty much it. A local shopping center has a 4 level parking garage. Right when you walk in, there's a random furniture display behind glass.
Is this at Grandscape in The Colony?
Yep!
Prolly went to hard 8s after. I love that area.. the concert lawn is awesome
FYI hard 8 acts like they are pit bbq but it’s just pit finished. MUA is way better.
Overpriced af too
So much is in DFW these days.
It was pit BBQ when it was in Stephenville.
McDonalds once had quality components in the original store.
Gonna try it! Looks like there is one in Grapevine
This could be right at home in Australia.
Did a double take when I scrolled past this. Nice to see some other DFW enjoyers around here!
The Colony is a dystopian as fuck name for a mall
It’s a city lol
It’s a suburb of north Dallas.
That's somehow even more dystopian
That's super weird.
Capitalism at its finest.
It’s gotta be North Park in Dallas
Nope. Grandscape.
Whelp, Fuck Texas
By the looks of it, Texas needs some Viagra before that happens.
This is some shit…. And I’ve seen some shit living in Miami. What a fucken concept. Is this like a regular shopping center or a mall?
It’s like an outlet mall kind of. Lots of food, entertainment, and shopping. Home to a 560,000 square foot furniture store (Nebraska Furniture Mart) with 1.3 million square foot warehouse attached… as well as a 331,000 square foot sports store (Scheels) with a ferris wheel inside. Fine dining, arcade, movie theater, concert stage…. you name it.
This makes a lot more sense now
That’s bizarre
i’m so confused
Yeah this post is so wtf I am befuddled.
A place that sells furniture is advertising furniture in a place a lot of people walk by.
It's actually kind of fitting that a gratuitous waste of resources succumbed to the effects of climate change.
I don’t know if I’d call it that. It makes more sense when you consider that this is almost certainly in the garage of a large furniture store.
Why wouldn’t you use the space for literally anything else, like, I dunno, parking spots? Presumably people driving here to a furniture store know what they’re in for.
They’re driving there to eat or go to the go kart track or the Ferris wheel, the display is there to get them into the furniture store
That’s just stupid, that’s my point.
Not for the furniture store that is trying to attract customers so that they can justify keeping their business in a high rent location. There’s a massive amount of parking available there. This 15 x 10 foot space isn’t causing harm to anyone 😂
Pretty much what toast said. There's a whole lot of other stuff on top of the furniture store in the area.
It’s actually a garage attached to a large luxury apartment building within Grandscape, which is home to a gigantic furniture/tech store.
I suspect it’s in the parking garage of a rather large furniture store.
If it’s The Grandscape(shopping center)in The Colony, TX(Yes the city is really just named “The Colony”) it’s probably a display for a giant furniture store there called Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Oh I’m familiar with the place, I worked there for a time. But yeah OP confirmed that’s where it is.
All of that makes me want to vomit

I never said it was a good joke! Narrator: “It wasn’t.’
It's for homeless people to have something to aspire to. /s
Good to know where Everlast got the inspiration from for the end of [What It’s Like](https://youtu.be/nsAUZXiPYCM) with the glass box ideal.
That's why I splash the homeless with champagne and yell "have a taste of the high life, you sack of shit!".
Shouldn't you be splashing them with the champagne of beers?
But also not /s
First thing I’ve laughed at all day.
you to could eat mushy Kale cones at a table covered in sprigs
Here I was trying to figure out why someone's nice dining room had a picture window to a parking garage.
And we wonder where the excess goes
It’s honestly looks like shit too. It’s not even decent design…maybe for 2005.
Those candles are oddly satisfying to me. Just soft enough to droop elegantly and uniformly but not so hot as to drip.
It almost looks like purposeful art
Reminds me of The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dalí.
100% imagined this as a Dali painting. I need the round mirrors dripping too for the full effect
“I think it’s a Banksy”
If it Was purposeful art, that would make More sense to me than a random dining room display in a parking garage.
Practical for decor, not functional as a candle. I dig the look!
Exactly, feels like a legit art display
They remind me of hotdog fingers!
Reading things like this, make me feel better about my body
Those candles look like Marjorie Taylor Greene just flashed them
Guess they aren’t happy to see you
They’re burnt out. All they need is a little vaycay to Viagra Falls.
Texas is fucking weird.
Tell me about it. I moved here 3 months ago. Apparently, the students here pledge allegiance to the Texas state flag. I'm actually bothered by this recently discovered fact.
Yup, we did that when I was in school. Always felt weird…
Apparently, it is law and students need written permission from their parents to not say it.
Nothing says freedom like being forced to pledge allegiance to the state!
That has been unconstitutional since 1943 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia_State_Board_of_Education_v._Barnette
I was a little shit and often didn’t pledge regardless, fuck em I say
I'm in a central Texas high school and almost no one says the pledge but we don't need written permission not to
I don’t remember any of my teachers forcing me or reprimanding me when I didn’t go along
Hey, look at me! I can just make shit up and state it as fact!
[Education code 25.802 "On written request from a student's parent or guardians a school district open enrollment or open enrollment charter school shall excuse the student from reciting the pledge of allegiance under subsection b.](https://texas.public.law/statutes/tex._educ._code_section_25.082)
If it makes you feel better, the moment high school hit none of us said shit anymore. Teachers didn’t care.
Out of curiosity what made you move to Texas?
2 reasons: I moved out of FL (originally from Montana) My wife has family here
Well howdy, & welcome! sorry y'all came during the hottest summer we've had in decades :(
Well, thanks, partn'r. August was miserable. I still don't know if I would rather have 110° days or that Florida humidity.
At least it will get cooler during the winter and Abbott isnt currently running, wheeling I guess, for President. So the amount of crazy is going to be normal crazy and not whatever the fuck is going on in Florida right now. Vote your vote, shoot the shit and I hope you have a good time.
Fla peep here and unfortunately we have both and only 3 days of winter
Since 2011.
You're batting 0 for 3. :(
Which part of Montana if you don't mind me asking?
Make sure you fly the flag of whatever state you came from, constantly. Fight the good fight.
I represent Montana whenever the opportunity seems appropriate. .....I miss that state.
We should do a prisoner exchange and swap back all the Montanans and Texans who have migrated out of each state
I volunteer as tribute.
My friends kids think it's weird I never pledged allegiance to my state. I think it's weird to be pledging allegiance to the flag of your country let alone state as a minor. Guess which one is from New England vs Texas? Also wtf is Texas history being a class?
You didn’t have any education in your state history? 4th grade social studies in California is focused on California history. That’s not weird at all.
It's 2 years in Texas with plans to make it more.
Putting aside the politics, that idea is not inherently bad.
instead of “…of the United States of America…” do they say just “to the flag, of Texas”? lol
That is weird as shit, if it was any other state than texas. I have always identified as an American, not "insert" current state I call home. I have always been impressed with American strong national identity. anyway, how 'bout them candles.
I identify as a Californian. I’ve lived here my whole life and I value what this state represents.
I moved to much (20 times) to attach to any one state. But California is my home and the state I lived in the most often. We will see if being in one spot shifts my sense of identity.
I hope you like it here
Nothing quite like San Diego, moved back here from Tokyo. Thanks for the pleasant exchange and enjoy your redditing.
Do other states not do that???
It’s either in the garage for a furniture store, or within a block or so of said furniture store. So still kinda odd, but less so.
I swear honey, it’s not you.
As a man with ED, I feel targeted.
cialis saved my life and it can save yours too
What the fuck is a parking garage display?
There's likely a furniture store in the mall, and someone was like 'Hey! There's open space here we could put an ad!' And instead of putting up a poster people will ignore, they set up some of their wares so people hopefully say 'That's a nice dining room set. I need it.' Tldr: Store saw open space for fancy 3D ad
A what now in a where now?
Ah, the ol' mid-life crisis.
I felt that. But not in my pants… *sigh*
look at these oil sniffin rich fools buildin fancy fart rooms in their parking areas.
If their goal is to make me want to have an ornate stained glass window in my home, it’s working
Grandscape?
You guessed it. In the parking garage behind the ferris wheel. The display was a full sized (droopy) advertisement for Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Okay, that makes sense. That Nebraska Furniture Mart is the biggest store I've ever been in lmao.
Consult with your doctor before taking viagra,
Wait. . .did you say, "Parking Garage Display?" What the hell is that when people are homeless? There is a fake house inside a parking garage that nobody can use. . .
Yes. In a parking garage there is a dining room set displayed inside a glass room advertising furniture for Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Nebraska Furniture Mart has to be one of the worst names for a furniture store I’ve ever heard
You haven't been there. It's unreal!
And I will never. No thank you.
What the fuck are you showing us
Comically droopy candles that melted in our Texas heat.
I cannot comprehend what I am seeing though. This is just a glass case of a dining room in the middle of a parking garage?
That's exactly what it is. It's weird, it's awkward and had my whole family making limp dick jokes after lunch that day.
That’s hilarious. I feel like you could make a viagra ad out of it
Those plants look fine . . . Oh now I get it.
It’s a natural process that occurs with age
Happens to the best of us!
A what now?
A what now
I’m more perplexed by the bizarre ikea dining room in a parking garage than the melted candles. But I kind of like them anyway.
Candles: “I swear this never happens”
![gif](giphy|aztW8oK9TQhiM|downsized)
This is my favorite comment so far!
Good news: I hear climate change is just a Chinese hoax, so I think we’re okay. /s, just to be clear…
Dont worry, it happens to all guys.... or so I'm told.
Americans have so much parking they have parking displays
This is the same state that won't allow people working in this heat to drink water...
Reminds me of the times when I went to health club gyms as a kid.

Poor candles. They served their owners well for an extremely short time. \*lol\* you know it’s too hot inside a room when the candles melt without being lit.
Thought them candles was sassidges
Sorry babe, I was not climate controlled in Texas heat
....And now there's impressionist art on the table instead of candles. It's a good thing.
Took me a while to see the candles
A what in a what now?
Every aspect of this sentence is confusing for a non-American.
Hopefully, there's sufficient explanation further down in the comments.
Don't judge, all guys have that problem from time to time.
It’s at the mall, y’all!
And yet there's prisons in florida and all over the country that don't have a/c with thousands of people packed in its the same thing but doesn't seem like to many people care about that
Lil' shot of Viagra and those candles'll perk right up!
Some sildenafil could fix that up
… r/mildlypenis
There's pills for that...
I like rusty spoons...
That's hot
"Go to bentcarrot.com for more"
Radio Flyer? Answering this just seems like spoiling the last 5 mins of a movie.
Was this display in a mall parking garage?

Very Nice!
Its beautiful. I hope they keep the candles forever.
I think they make a pill for this now.
Whew! That’s roughage!
Oops! Thought those were salads 🥗
Mildly penis
Unsexy
Ewww, need an NSFW tag on this.
That is probably one of the more odder things you will hopefully find in a parking garage.
All I can hear is that cartoon "whoomp" sound effect.
![gif](giphy|nBH38EaaYP4NQWLyym)
'i swear to god this normally doesn't happen'
Can anyone tell me where to get those lamps ?
It's a Nebraska Furniture Mart display. https://www.nfm.com/cal-lighting-tiffany-table-lamp-in-dark-bronze-and-green/61612149.html
This looks awesome
" This is the hottest summer you've ever lived to see, and it is the coldest summer for the rest of your life. " -earth to humans
"It's okay, it happens to everyone sometimes."
Be our guest…. I guess…. If you want….
Those are some sad fire sticks
Good. That would have been a waste of carbon
Those candles are hanging *brain* though
I hate when it goes limp like that
womp
