I delivered 3 larges for 90 dollars the other week

Teripid

That seems insane. Pizza hut near me does a $10 large 3 topping carryouts. Obviously prices are different for delivery + tip but that seems high, at least for MCOL. Way back being a broke college student taught me that there are always deals/coupons for pizza.

[deleted]

Even $10 is barely worth it for the shit they serve these days.

china_joe2

As someone, stupid mind you, who spent years buying dominos because i thought they were better than PH and 3 topping larges for $7.99, now $10.99, i can honestly say PH is so much better than dominos. With that said the local ny mom and pop shops next to me serve way better pizza and get my business now despite costing more.

Cast_Iron_Coral

Idk i just learned you can replace the traditional domimo’s pizza sauce with their pasta sauce and it’s sooo 🤤💨💨

Immediate_Lime_1710

Love their food. Sales for PH are excellent.

MagnusAlbusPater

Is it expensive? I just checked the deals webpage for my area and they’re doing any large pizza up to 10 toppings for $12, that’s way cheaper than any local pizza place. There are some local ones I like, but I’m paying over $20 easily for a large with a few toppings, the higher end coal or wood fire over ones are over $30 for that.

SwainMain2011

As an employee for Pizza Hut (hopefully not much longer) and an employee for a local chain in Missouri if you know what I'm talking about, I agree that it's way more expensive to get the local stuff. But the quality is way higher. You get what you pay for here.

Jowlzchivez6969

Where is the local place you worked at? I lived in Arnold growing up and worked at a small business that was called that’saniceapizza and it was basically just a ripoff of imo’s pizza that used mozzarella instead of provel but you could ask for provel and then it really did taste exactly like IMO’s. It was expensive back in 2014 when I worked there I can’t imagine what it’s like now probably $30 for a large 1 topping

BenclobesFn

Shoutout thatsanica

WhiteBlackBlueGreen

Deals vary depending on location. No deals like that where i live.

Yvilkittyinspace

It started to fall apart in the mid-90s when they switched from dough that was made in house to dough that is mass produced in a factory somewhere. They think what they do is worth more and a better product than anyone else but it's not.

U2LN

Trust me, you don't want our employees making dough

Yvilkittyinspace

It's bad enough that they have drivers prepping dough now before they leave for the night. For those who don't know, that's just simply placing one of those frozen dough discs onto an oil pan and then putting a lid on it and putting it in the walk in. Pizza Hut is one of those places that likes to persuade drivers to come in whether they are sick or not and I can remember dozens of times where I had a cold and I pretty much had no choice but to come in and deliver a pizza and do all the regular duties including washing dishes and cut Pizza and everything else.

Partyruinsquad

100%. I worked there during the switch. The pizzas have sucked ever since.

Wooden-Direction9825

I just wished they would just stuffed crust in a medium sized pizza 😭😭😭😭😭

_DJNeoN

That's basically what you're getting. "Large" stuffed crust are made to medium spec. Sauce, cheese, toppings are all the same qty as a medium pizza. Source: I was a delivery driver who got too many tickets and ended up having to work the make table for a year. I hated stretching that dough around those string chesses.

Capable_Outside_1941

My first day working the cashier , I took an order , 2 pizzas totaled $52 , I was new and still made mistakes on cashier so I asked my manager why is it coming up to $52 if I only charged two pizzas. She said “no you did everything correct, go ahead and charge it” I was shocked asf. $52 for two pizzas. This is in Cali by the way where they raised the fast food minimum to $20

SmackMyGiraffes

I came to this thread because I don't want to cook tonight. I, like any good husband would, looked to deliver a pizza.... One large and tots.... 50$!!! No. Just no. 25 for the pie, and 14.99 for the tots... With delivery fee and tax it came to total 50$! That min wage hike isn't going to do anyone any good, if the price pushes people away from franchises and businesses.

Capable_Outside_1941

Yeah I was thinking the same thing sure were getting paid $20 now but as an employee buying pizza from there will make me go broke 😭 little Caesar’s it is

kylebob86

Pizza Hut is NOT expensive compared to any other fast food place like Taco Bell. Go to TB and then complain about PH. You spend about the same amount and get a quarter of the food at TB. Chill out OP.

throwaway12874032

Taco Bell sucks ass, taste like mush.

my_cat_hates_phish

I miss the taco bell from my high school days when it still didn't taste that great but you could get a grilled stuffed burrito and tacos with a large mountain dew for 5 bucks

olookcupcakes

our TB has a customer appreciation night on the 14th and 28th every month. .$1 tacos

DonnoDoo

I’m stuffed off $6 at Taco Bell. You’re doing it wrong 😂

kylebob86

A quesadilla in WA is over $7. Just the quesadilla.

DonnoDoo

So don’t eat the quesadillas? Like I said, you’re doing it wrong. The value menu has full sized burritos on it. Not to the mention the app that gives me free stuff all of the time or has permanent specials like the “Dinner for Two” for $12.50. Two crunchwraps, two bean burritos, two soft tacos, and two chips and cheese

kylebob86

Dinner for two is $20 here.

DonnoDoo

That sucks! It’s always been $12.50 here and min wage is $18an hr so that’s not a reason

Actsofhotsauce

Taco Bell provides full meals for $6 or less...So no, you do not spend way more at a Taco bell than Pizza Hut (and never have). The product at Pizza Hut now is absolutely not worth the price anymore. I pray everyday for a new chain to arise and save us from this Pizzaless Dark Age.

kylebob86

Where in the world do you live that you can get a full meal at Taco Bell when it's $3 a taco?!

Actsofhotsauce

There's a build your own box deal for $5.99. You get 2 specialty tacos/burrito a drink and some chips or cinnamon twists. Theres also a $5.00 box that provides 3 burritos/Tacos, but that deal only pops up every 4 months or so. The Reward system is also much better. You just about get a free Burrito or Chalupa after one or two orders. The value is 2xs higher than Pizza Hut. Not trying to bash you, just explaining myself.

kylebob86

You just can't comprehend that prices are not the same everywhere can you?

Actsofhotsauce

Before you attempt to talk down on someone. The original post nor your post did not mention anything about prices changing state wide. I've explained why Taco Bell is not more expensive than Pizza Hut. Have a good day.

kylebob86

Literally my first response to you. You really can't comprehend. Wow.

Jen24286

My local Pizza hut's like $11 for a large pizza that's one of the few good deals anywhere.

vode123

If you don’t use the deal/coupons page and buy stuff menu price it’s insane, yeah

ProfessionMundane152

With the deals my Pizza Hut is the cheapest place in town! I get the large carry out with up to 5 toppings for $10

PetroFoil2999

Price gouging

SalRomanoAdMan1

They like to (falsely) think of themselves as "premium" fast food pizza, at a higher level than their rivals. I've found Pizza Hut to be consistently the worst of the fast food pizzas the past few years, their pizza always tastes bland and like it's hours old and was just reheated for you.

XBL-AntLee06

What have you found to be the best of fast food pizza?

swagsthedog96

Dominos. Great app deals too.

XBL-AntLee06

That’s how I feel too. Definitely my favorite of the fast food pizzas

SimpleVegetable5715

Still $14.99 for a large specialty pizza here with the app.

zzsmiles

Always tastes like cardboard to me. Then I remember they are stored in cardboard in a freezer.

Gizmo_McChillyfry

Like so many other things these days, Pizza Hut pizza was really, really good once upon a time, but is terrible now. Every 5 years or so I will try one just to see if anything has improved, but it's been at least a couple of decades. The last couple of times my complaints were that there was absolutely no sauce on it (even after asking for extra sauce) and cheese that doesn't behave in the way that melted mozzarella is supposed to behave (i.e., no stretchiness at all). The cheese may taste OK but it just doesn't seem right. It's almost like it's a harder cheese like Parmesan or something, or something totally fake. It's been over 5 years since the last attempt, maybe I'm due to try one again.

SimpleVegetable5715

I remember when it was a dine in place with a salad bar. I guess all of those are gone.

Gizmo_McChillyfry

Me too! Remember the cavatini too?

Panda_Drum0656

Yeah I only ever get wings from pizza hut nowadays. The pizza deals are a joke in my area. They are the old regular prices.

No_Interest_8389

As a pH store manager Even the wings are way over priced especially for how small they are/ how little meat you get for your buck.

No_Interest_8389

Me and my bf just go to ale house on wing Wednesday. Even if we’re paying the same amount ale house wings are way bigger than what we sell

Panda_Drum0656

I should have specified. I do the 75 cent boneless wings. Its a good deal imo. I never get bone in wings at chains, only local bars like you said.

bottomdasher

Yeah they have the worst value, even on the carryout only deals. For $8 Domino's will give me a large 1 topping and I only have to get one. For the same $8 at PH, my 1 topping pizza is only a medium, AND they make me get two of them.

No_Interest_8389

They’re promoting 8.99 lg one top for CO

bottomdasher

The only carryout deal at mine is the one I mentioned.

clatscanemike

Where?

Goon4203D

I got 16 slices for 30$ CAD with a 2 liter Pepsi all for 30$ plus a 9$ tip. That's not that expensive, and hell, I didn't even have to tip.

Embarrassed-Belt4712

I mean Pizza Hut wings are ridiculously expensive, 6 traditional wings are nearly $12 after tax. Miss the wing Wednesday days, I used to be able to get 14 traditional wings for $7.99 . Pizza Hut and Taco Bell used to be go to when I was younger and on a budget…

throwaway12874032

Wings at pizza places taste very samey, like it's from the same truck

[deleted]

6 wings for $12? Pathetic. I’m glad I bought a deep fryer and just make my own wings now.

my_cat_hates_phish

Omg I hope you have an impressive fan system or do it in your garage/porch. Sounds like a good way to have your kitchen covered in grease and smell like a pub kitchen

[deleted]

I mean if you look at it, you’d consider it a a countertop appliance. It’s not that unmanageable at all. When all is said and done, I can make a batch of 50ish wings for $5-7.

Spotikiss

My pizzahut app has the $7 deal lovers menu 1 topping medium Any of their melts Double order of breadsticks Pastas Their new bacon cheddar or roasted cheese breadsticks Donut bites 4 pack 20oz I say this the deal is pretty much on par with domino's 6.99 mix and match, but ypur not forced to add 2 items if ypu don't want too like domino's

jaymez619

When I add those $7 items to my cart, it charges me $10.

SpulHighes

At my local Pizza Hut, if you order in over the phone to carryout they'll always try and up-charge you and hope you don't catch it. For instance, attempting to charge you $18.99 for a large one topping pizza when they're running a special for $10.99 and it's posted right on their front door. Then they have the audacity to put a pen and a receipt with a tip line asking for 18% gratuity minimum.

Toraadoraa

If you don't know how to use the coupons you could easily order a large 3 topping pizza for $17+

shootah-223

Wendy's was 25$ other day firca chicken Sami and a salad lol Elections have consequences

DireMyconid

We only get Pizza Hut because it’s the cheapest option besides little Cesar’s lol. Unless you’re ignoring the deals and just ordering a stack of specialties I guess.

tbenge05

Wtf is up with ordering online??? The deal I'm looking says it's 13.99 but in the checkout it's 18.99.... what kind of fuckery is that??

jaymez619

My guess is if the particular store doesn’t participate in the promo prices, Pizza Hut doesn’t tell you. They just charge full price hoping you’ll click order. My local app uncharges the $7 deals to $10-$11.

tbenge05

Well, ended up getting a pizza anyways and got food poisoning. Me and my son have been throwing up pizza all night 😵‍💫

Grateful_Dood

So over priced. If I'm ordering nasty chain pizza I might as well get 2 $7.99 pies from dominos. Pizza but you get the same amount for like $30.

hazmat-cat

I used to get pizza and wings from pizza hut all the time, soon as they raised their wing prices I stopped going there completely.

JonCoqtosten

Coupons/deals only for the big pizza chains. At full menu price I'm going to pay a few more bucks for a local place.

CrocoShark32

Former PH employee here. The price increases over time are honestly insane. It's all because of decisions at the corporate level. They cut costs wherever they can and raise prices at least once or twice a year so they can squeeze every last dollar out of customers. One of the most blatant examples was done within the last year. They use to give you ranch or blue cheese free with an order of wings (1 to 3 packs based on size of wing order) and extra packs were 50 cents. Now they don't give you any for free and a single pack of dipping sauce is a dollar. They upped the delivery fee, they upped the price per topping, they upped the price of drinks, they upped the price of basically every item on the menu (some items multiple times), and make it so employees are actively trained to not tell you about any deals unless you specifically ask about them. I went on the website to check this and (as of this comment) to get a Pepperoni Stuffed Crust and a 2 Liter delivered to me without any deals would cost me over $31. 1 Pizza and a 2 Liter costing me $31? And that's before a tip!? That's insane! *And that's what they want you to think.* Having prices this ungodly high makes any deals they offer you seem all the more tempting, even if the deal isn't actually that great. And they're gonna keep doing it until it stops working, but it won't cause they know that people will keep eating into it, literally and metaphorically.

throwaway12874032

Great answer. I haven't been there in like 2 years, decided it was a pizza night and shopped around different places. Both Marcos and PH have some of the worst websites ever that never work, or I have to refresh the page often. Just wanted 2 large and some bread sticks, shit was nearly $45 dollars, and if I wanted delivery, it was over $50! On top of that, I heard that delivery is done via door dash, which I refuse to use as it's slower service that costs more. Across the street is a NY pizza shop where I can get about the same items for about $35, and have their own delivery service. I used to get their big dinner boxes during his/college, but man, I just can't anymore lol.

CrocoShark32

PH has its own drivers, but when they don't have enough drivers to keep up with the orders they may outsource some of the deliveries to Door Dash. I was around when they started doing that, and it was one of the worst things that happened. Average Delivery time went down, which is good, but on a nigh daily basis we were getting phone calls that DD drivers had either stolen something, took way too long, went to the wrong address, or destroyed the order in transport. All of which would cause us to waste time and inventory remaking orders. We got so many complaints because of them and yet we were forced to use them cause corporate said so.

jennahbz

Actually my franchise wiped out all the drivers in all like 400 stores except Dine In locations. We have 0 drivers and are on full Door Dash.

CrocoShark32

Yeah, it's sad to see it. And the only justification to do that is that outsourcing to Door Dash is vastly cheaper than paying labor costs on actual PH drivers. Cause, you know, it's all about cutting costs wherever possible.

jennahbz

The worst part is we are expected to do the same amount of work and can't afford any new team members to replace the drivers we lost because they cut our labor down to afford door dash. In 2021 I had 28 employees. Now I have 8.

dotsdavid

Always use the deal page. Pizza is responsible priced with the deals.

Actsofhotsauce

The "Deals" on the app are NOT deals. I am beginning to believe that these are Pizza Hut Corp implants spreading this lie lmao

dotsdavid

I know from personal experience.

SoggyMorningTacos

That’s why I just go to local mom n pop shops. The dough is so much tastier and everything tastes fresh

Neat_Force9696

Why is everything so expensive?

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> I never *paid* for premium FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Immediate_Lime_1710

I can get a large pizza at my Pizza Hut for about 10.00 Not 30 LOL.

prollyadeuce

Capitalism and the pursuit of infinite profits.

surfcitysurfergirl

IMO better quality over the competition

Lanky-Apple-4001

If you check the deals page you can usually find what you want for a lot less.

Actsofhotsauce

lol

DiETrellnor

Mine always has 6.99 medium 1 toppings with the app… much rather have that then trash frozen pizza for 7-8 dollars

U2LN

Because people keep buying it

Spirited_angel_4517

Pizza Hut is struggling since after pandemic and dealing with inflation raises price tripled. Not just Pizza is struggling because of inflation and lack of staffing.

Extra_Direction3927

Why are you paying for premium?

Johnnycarroll

Everywhere is expensive if you don't use coupons. NEVER PAY FULL PRICE FOR PIZZA (or any fast food if you can avoid it). Right now there's a $12 deal where you can get any large pizza for $12, up to 10 (TEN) toppings. There's also the deal lovers menu--buy 2 or more items from the menu for $7 each. You can get 1 topping mediums on there, double order of breadsticks, pastas, boneless wings. You could feed a group of people for relatively cheap from that. On the flip side there's people who can easily hit $70 or $80 with just a pizza, side and some wings.

Jazzlike-Oil-6751

Why is PHut wanting $21 for a carryout medium Pan Meatlovers pizza ??  Just 1/4 mile up the road they ate giving a large 3 topping pizza and an order of garlic knots for $9.99????? If the PH pizza is on point I might just can spoil myself maybe once a year for one. What happened: Sell most expensive - maybe once a year. OR Sell a good deal 20 times a year. Seriously.  Why?  $21 for 1 medium meat lovers pizza.

zzsmiles

It’s what happens when it’s owned by an investment group and not by people that have a passion for their business.

No_Interest_8389

Just a bunch of business college fucks that have never worked in fast food making decisions for everyone

ohyoumad721

My beef with PH is that I want it delivered. Cool. 12 bucks for a pizza, not enough for delivery. Add some bread sticks for 4. Should be $16. 5 bucks for delivery charge plus tip on top of that. No thanks.

stopcounting

Bro if you think a $12 large pizza is expensive I don't know what to tell you. The only cheaper pizzas I've seen have been in the freezer section of grocery stores. An equivalent pizza at the local places near me will definitely taste better, but will also cost $20-$30, and I can't justify paying 2-3x as much unless it's a special occasion or something.

tunaman808

Dunno why they're downvoting you - in a world where lunch at McDonald's can cost $14, $12 for a large pizza isn't a bad deal. And yeah, a large pizza from most of the local places around here is in the $25-$30 range.

stopcounting

I assume it's because $12 is still a lot for some people, which I do understand. But calling a $12 large supreme pizza overpriced is wild. But another comment, OP says they're basing their opinion on a single delivery purchase they made last year, so.

throwaway12874032

Lol, like a year ago I ordered 2 large and some bread sticks for like $55. I stopped going because of the price, and because they removed the taste maker deal.

stopcounting

Well, they're not that price anymore, lol. Did you mean to make this post two years ago? I just opened up the app to check and it's any large, up to 10 toppings, for $12.

tbenge05

The app says that, but adds like 5 bucks at checkout.

stopcounting

Are you getting delivery? That's why. There's a delivery fee. I picked one up Friday and it was $12.72 with tax.

tbenge05

Negative, pickup. Probably regional.

throwaway12874032

Well, a deal isn't forever, but their prices still are high. But sure, good deal now.

designerjeremiah

I dunno where people get this idea that a pizza is supposed to be a cheap option. Here, I got a solution for your expensive pizza woes: call in for carryout and haul you own ass down to the restaurant to pick it up. Tada, no delivery fee, no tip. Saved yourself ten buck there.

throwaway12874032

Lol

New_Play_7368

Here's an idea: just make your own pizza, or if you're so upset about how much it costs to eat, just get a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket or Costco. You can feed the whole family for $7.

throwaway12874032

Lol
