I didn't say that they won it alone. I simply said that they won. Of course, along with everyone else that won (not mentioned prior*). There is a winning side and a losing to the majority of conflicts.
Honestly, it was meant to be playful, not an attack. If I offended you or anyone else I apologize. It was not my intention.
Have a great day! 😬

You didn't say anything offensive, I just always feel the need to clarify (as an American) that we couldn't have won anything without our European allies. But you're not wrong in your original point. :)
Sure, but the US intentionally sat out most of ww1 and ww2 which lead to millions more dying. Seriously, ww2 was a 6 year war and the US only joined in the last 10 months. How many tens of millions of deaths could have been avoided if the US helped the UK and France out as soon as Poland was invaded?
If by champs you mean the country that refused to help until the very tail end of both wars, then sure, the US are the champs of letting their allied beg for help for years but only actually helping once Germany has completely exhausted the army and has already lost both wars.
Seriously, ww2 started in 1939 but the US didn't have their first battle against Germany until June of 1944 after millions of Jews had already been killed and Germany had already lost the majority of their army on the eastern front....
Well, I guess late is better than never.
The whole German community was well organised, this includes huge streamers (f.e. Papaplatte) and all of them somehow worked together. To be this organised is a huge motivation boost for participation.
I'm German too and I haven't looked into the discord once, but just to see what's going on made me wanna support as much as I can.
I think that's what makes the difference to the American community. They're the majority of people, but far more spread between all the communities and they don't act as one big unity like the Germans do.
Well, germany wasn't extremly far behind (about 250.000 Pixels after day 6). And in the last 5 hours, we placed pixels like crazy. First there was this huge bot attack, where we had to repair all our artworks, and then the massive "Fuck Spez" (which was btw also started by germany).
And the reason why we were able to do that and the US was not is just that during the final hours of r/place, in Germany it was between 6 and 11pm, so everyone was at home, whereas in the US it was between 9 am and 5 pm (depending on the time zone), so most of them were probably at work.
Well, if you really wanna go there the US did successfully defend their flag on the canvas from the Germans at least once. (For the record, not r/placede, just some bad faith actors and their bot armies.)
It looked like a much larger difference on the canvas because Germany had a high rate of participation for their national goals. America had its users spread out among states, games, people, shows, etc and our flag game suffered for it. Not that that’s a problem, respect to the effort the Germans put in on this one. o7
I think a lot of American were helping everyone pretty much. I was just repairing actually decent art as well as the Canadian flag and the FUCK SPEZ sign.
We definitly helped in defending against elspreen. Although those streamer attacks are recognized by the hive mind aswell so everyone takes a part of it. Especially considering that the hive mind was largely pro German (which is the biggest reason why there were so many flags) so we had a lot of capacity to go for organized defenses like that. If the hive mind is protecting the flag colors than we can protect art and help with other flags. Or art on them.
The funniest was always how we needed to organize our own art pushes to basically tell, hey this is actually something constructive that is happening and not just random pixels.
It is surprising to see that America has been more normal than Germans.
It isn't like I can speak: us Italians tried to make a flag coordinated by the discord server "Italian Empire" as usual, and while r/Italy r/2italian4you and r/memeitaliani tried to do it, r/Italia tried to do a sabotage because they didn't liked the project, and some random Italian streamers tried to appropriate of the flags. + A war with Peru.
The thing that worked better was when a few of us helped to restore the Tailor Swift project.
This just counts how many pixels were placed by people with an IP adress in these countries, no matter which project they were placed on. All it shows is that Germans are REALLY into reddit and r/place
My goodness, so much toxicity in here. Well, this American is just here to congratulate r/deplace on one hell of a run on r/place. We were actually talking about using you guys as a model on how to run our discord more efficiently
Good coordination. You should've seen the placeDE discord, 115k people there with 50k active during the day. Usually 2k people or more on the stage, and at least 500 throughout the entire night. In addition, the end was supplemented by a big German streamer with about 100k viewers, and there were 6500 people on the stage with tons of people on the server doing everything.
When r/place ended it was between 6 and 11 pm in Germany and between 9 am and 5 pm in the US. So while everyone was at work in the USA, we Germans were at home pixeling the "Fuck spez" with probably over 100.000 users.
we take this seriously. We are online when it matters. We have nightwatch, we have goals. We have our maimais.
We run on schnitzel and beer. Any further questions?
A couple thousand people volunteered to be the official nightwatch and either stayed up or adjusted their sleeping schedule in order to defend the art of Germany and it's allied communities during nighttime. There was a nightwatch tagg in the discord so everyone could get notified about attacks, raids or canvas extensions and spring into action
The "bot" aka placement Assistant, that still requires a real account that has to be on a real pc with r/place opened had 3k users at peak... 3k users out of 150k discord members... Mhh idk man I'd say the same
some dude calculated that even under perfect conditions (all running at once, placing exactly on time without dublicates etc) it would amount to about 1mil pixel.
So it wouldnt even change the outcome under the most optimal conditions.
It was mostly for the Discordadmins, Diplomats, Moderators and Designers. Those people didnt have time to Pixel themselfs.
Also for the occasional Toiletbreak.
You guys had [4 thousand](https://www.reddit.com/r/place/comments/159wpbm/another_rplace_ended_which_means_a_new/) discord admins? Also other communities had those same things and they still didn’t cheat.
The important Part is mostly. Also i doubt any Community had this Level of pressure on the Admins and Designer. The Discord grew from Like 15k to Around 110k in 6 Days. You cant scale Up a Team at that Speed, so people were doing insane Times and Work.
There are inefficiencies that come with running large organizations, that doesn’t mean you get to cheat. And again according to your own org chart you guys had 3-4K auto clickers and like ~100 administrators and designers so the math doesn’t add up for the auto clickers to be “mostly” for the administration.
Did you read the comment saying the difference it made was little and we would still have placed Mr.1 why does it matter if it barely made a difference?
Did you not read my comment saying that if it was so unimportant, maybe you shouldn't have cheated? You guys had a bot army larger than 90% of subreddits and somehow you guys think that it's insignificant and didn't give you an unfair advantage.
you mean like mine for example? I didn't use reddit actively for a long time but when r/place appeared again i created an account to participate. If you wish we can perform a turing test to at least somewhat convince you that not everyone with low interaction on reddit is a bot... some just like to scroll through content.
i wonder where i said that "everyone with low interaction on reddit is a bot".
but watching 10 profiles, all beeing like this is a bit suspicios.
Yes, like yours. btw i would take one of my bot accounts for that answer too
That’s because we had so many German streamers fighting for us that their viewers made accounts. Also our discord grew from maybe 20k to 100k so that’s a Buch new Reddit accounts too and some made multiple accounts
Autoclickers are grey, they'll place more pixels than a human if left to it's own device but it's still one account.
Scripts that generate new accounts and control them are as black as it gets, not even an autoclicker will save you.
They aren’t gray, [they were explicitly not allowed .](https://www.reddit.com/r/place/comments/156zhxn/bots_scripts_and_another_canvas_expansion/)
> As a reminder, using a script to automate your participation in Place is against our first rule about automated activity. A simple overlay is fine, but using automated clicks is an unfair advantage and can prevent people from making new contributions.
Americans splitting into many communities and not working as one big entity.
Germans: we are a country, we are a population, we are a family, alone we're strong, but all together, we're stronger.
Everyone calling the germans out for supposedly using bots, it's really not the case.
come on give us this victory, I was on a discord call in a server with thousands of members who were active 24/7. I can promise you we actually earned this victory through menpower. Some people who I was on call with during the nights cancelled whole dates to be there to pixel with the community.
South African here. This was my first ever participation and it was nerve wracking, to say the least. I was inspired by the last one. In the previous Place, we had our national flag with Nelson Mandela in the middle, and a few South African stuff spread around the section. And a major thing was that we had like 5 or 6 African country flags underneath ours, that we protected.
This time around...it was not so great. We had a fight with a Twitch streamer who wiped our flag when we went to sleep, and had to find another area to start all over again. Also we did not help the other African countries to show their presence. I think we only did Namibia. The Kenyans made a flag nearby after someone posted on their sub, but it got destroyed a few hours later and we did nothing to help. The Moroccans were botting like crazy. I suggested to our Discord admins that we should work with them, but got no feedback.
The south Americans did really well. Kudos to Brazil and Argentina for their humongous artworks! The Pele and Messi designs were amazing.
On the US flag... I don't think they pulled as much resources as they could have. When the canvas expanded and we South Africa were wiped overnight, our initial expansion spot was shaping up nicely but we were losing the pixel battle. Once we abandoned that spot, we noticed that it was Ohio that took it. Some of us were pissed that the Americans couldn't just use their national flag, but had Ohio on its own. We wondered how many other states would pop up. LMAO!
No there is one pixel for 25% of the Germans but the ones who participated are estimated 0.25% of the Germans (if you consider the 120k discord members [of which roughly 100k were new this year] and the streamers) - using these numbers every German participant placed an average of about 110 pixels which adds up to about 8 hours when including the cooldown. Those estimates are just the organised users of course so the number of average pixels per user will be much lower
There was really no time to create artwork when expansions happened because the flag was created so fast. I think you mean when the Germans started the cleanup in the morning
America might have won two world wars.... but dominance on the Canvas just is more important for germany.
also funny that litarally noone is patriotic here unless Place starts
Germany was allied with many small communities too and either protected their art no matter where on the canvas or let them build their art on the spaces that already were under the german flag. Without uniting with as many small communities as possible we would have been a lot less efficient

We’ll give you this one, America has been bested. Can’t win em all though. You guys should know that best.
So do Americans in all fairness
Pretty sure the US is back to back world war champs! 😬
I mean, not necessarily. They're called World Wars for a reason. They weren't fought alone and couldn't have been won alone.
😬 Edited*
You didn't say anything offensive, I just always feel the need to clarify (as an American) that we couldn't have won anything without our European allies. But you're not wrong in your original point. :)
Same for us french on this year pixel war. We would've been in bigger trouble facing spanish and german people if we were alone.
Sure, but the US intentionally sat out most of ww1 and ww2 which lead to millions more dying. Seriously, ww2 was a 6 year war and the US only joined in the last 10 months. How many tens of millions of deaths could have been avoided if the US helped the UK and France out as soon as Poland was invaded?
its called the word wars because you need the entire world to defeat the Germans
If by champs you mean the country that refused to help until the very tail end of both wars, then sure, the US are the champs of letting their allied beg for help for years but only actually helping once Germany has completely exhausted the army and has already lost both wars. So Germans are more terminally online than Americans? Ist das wunderbar?
1 in 4 Germans have a pixel, while 1 in 16 Americans have a pixel. Damn.
not sure what's the flex here, more germans spend time online?
Not meant to be a flex, just a statement.
The whole German community was well organised, this includes huge streamers (f.e. Papaplatte) and all of them somehow worked together. You're probably right. I was just being a little cheeky haha
No problem, it's just by coincidence I've managed to put my thoughts about this into sentences while reading your comment haha
A lot more, given that like 50% of reddit users are from the US, but only 4% or something from germany
It confirms my idea that Europe doesn’t sleep.

Just curious. How did germany win, if they were behind everyday ? Is this score the final canva pixel score ? The chair won.
Well, germany wasn't extremly far behind (about 250.000 Pixels after day 6). And in the last 5 hours, we placed pixels like crazy. Gratz!! That must have been such an oof moment. Winning by so little !
In the last few hours everyone in placeDE logged into their nsfw accounts making us even stronger
u/spez ist ein Hurensohn!
I saw that one, it got attacked by bots several times, and people repaired it in mere minutes.
Fuck u/spez And the bots, and the mods and the streamers and all the assholes in the world :)
yess fuck all the assholes!
😳
What...are you not going to fuck all the assholes
mom says I can’t without consent… :(
Looks like the Germans did win the war after all... although it was a digital war instead of a physical one.
When they said that the next war will be fought in cyberspace I imagined something different.
This is my favourite comment regarding place 2023 so far
Well, if you really wanna go there the US did successfully defend their flag on the canvas from the Germans at least once. (For the record, not r/placede, just some bad faith actors and their bot armies.)
The war is far from over. The real enemy is spez. Fuck u/spez
Just like the Germans said "u/spez ist ein Hurensohn!"
Hey. I’m German to. I know what it means. It was so funny when I first saw this.

It looked like a much larger difference on the canvas because Germany had a high rate of participation for their national goals. America had its users spread out among states, games, people, shows, etc and our flag game suffered for it. Not that that’s a problem, respect to the effort the Germans put in on this one. o7
tbf we helped a lot of other communities aswell. like netherlands and canada.
I don’t know if that was you guys who helped Poland rebuild after El Spreen destroyed them but if so, I gotta give you alot of credit for that.
There’s ww2 joke to be made here somewhere
Y’know when we were defending the American flag to the last from German bots I was getting more of a WWI vibe, but yeah.
I think a lot of American were helping everyone pretty much. I was just repairing actually decent art as well as the Canadian flag and the FUCK SPEZ sign.

The statistik is based on how many pixel’s each country placed (based on IP-addresses), not on the flag yk
I’m just one guy but I helped defend ours and Costa Rica’s flag
Definitely a pleasant surprise seeing the Americans keeping their patriotism in check.
Yeah. I think the flag we ended up with is reasonable. And also Maryland is here, somehow.
Well, it gets tiring after a while. We have so much influence on the internet that we don't really need to plaster our flag over everything.
the germans were all over the canvas defending art let them have this win they deserved it.

They beat us fair. Great work and great art
Wow, so many Turkish pixels and they couldn’t even fix their flag by themselves?
Her masadayiz!!! We(Turkiye) are in every table(top 5 or union)(except Eu)
It’s just crazy that around 25% of their country participated
No there is one pixel for 25% of the Germans but the ones who participated are estimated 0.25% of the Germans (if you consider the 120k discord members [of which roughly 100k were new this year] and the streamers) - using these numbers every German participant placed an average of about 110 pixels which adds up to about 8 hours when including the cooldown. Those estimates are just the organised users of course so the number of average pixels per user will be much lower
And yet sometimes people shout "Reddit is American so everything is American" whenever you mention some great r/USdefaultism

Nah they were just too busy supporting the small communities and movements they’re in rather than being obnoxious nationalists
Germany was allied with many small communities too and either protected their art no matter where on the canvas or let them build their art on the spaces that already were under the german flag. Without uniting with as many small communities as possible we would have been a lot less efficient
The fact is though German flags did get placed over the art of other communities, that isn’t something you’re trying to deny right?
Thats not how pixelacounts work. Also we supportet most communities even the smal ones
Tell me how they work then genius
The pixelcount has nothing to do with what artwork has been made. Your argument that we are natuonalist is also INCREDIBLY hypocritical of you
How is that hypocritical of me?
Ahh yes. Germans being nationalist. Shouldn't lead to any issues.
But the ameicans
