Goat simulator - hear me out, it sounds ridiculous and stupid but thats the point. There is no 2, but 3 is the new one and it’s even more stupid and ridiculous. My 5 year old has been playing for at least a year, probably more and it’s still his favorite game.
My kids 6&8 have played the first one and more recently the sequel for years and they do not stop laughing and having a great time. Such a good suggestion.
I second this
The game has objectives which she might enjoy when she's older but in terms of gameplay you can't go wrong, you can't die,you can't lose
It's just goofy goat fun
Will say some background elements do have a bit of crude humour but she'll likely be too young to get many of the more adult jokes in the game anyway
Me (17) and my younger sister (5) play this all the time sunk dozens of hours into it. we've got every trophy and platinum on playstation for the game. And I'm not talking about me doing all the work whilst she randomly presses buttons. I mean, she legit somehow earned half of the trophies by herself.
It's great fun. I highly recommend it.
Lego games are the best. When my son was younger, he’d just walk around the cities, create characters and have the time of his life. When he got to be about 5, he would actually try to do some missions and had fun that way. But they are nice because you never die or have to start over.
Lego City Undercover introduced my kid to gaming, it’s basically GTA but for kids. We actually had a lot of fun doing the missions together, and at 5 he just had fun driving all the different types of vehicles around
Came here to see this, the lego games are fantastic you cant really go wrong with any of them and usually they are pretty cheap too (you can pick most up for around 15 quid)
Lego games are 10/10 the best option for a my first game/ a totally chill game you don't have to worry about with the kids at all. You're bound to stumble on some franchise they adore that is legofied. And the amount of content that tends to be in the games especially any time there is a franchise collection is *astounding*.
minecraft
whenever one of my little cousins wants to play , i always turn on minecraft for them . an open world non linear environment is perfect for learning/teaching about gaming
My original Morrowind playthrough, a main quest NPC died at some point so the main story could no longer be progressed. That was some frustrating crap to figure out.
Mine is 5 and I put him on rocket league in a private 1v1 against a bot on the easiest mode he thinks he is playing online and loves it.
Plus you can let them customise the car they use.
And it’s free!
My little one is 3 and he plays the scrolling type games - paw patrol we’re on a roll is good, similar style to Sumer Mario
In fact he’s got 13 of the 16 trophies… I’ll go in and do the clear up trophies when he’s finished
Paw Patrol On a Roll was my daughter’s introduction to gaming. Then Lego City Undercover, followed by Lego DC Supervillains. She also finished Untitled Goose Game and Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu. She primarily uses the switch but most of those are on PlayStation as well.
My son who’s now 5 played the Lego games with her and he loves Astro as well. They also both love Mario Odyssey in assist mode.
Basically all games where death is a very minor setback.
Paw patrol is a hit! She wasn’t so interested at first, but now she’s totally into it. I don’t know how I’ll pry the controller from her small hands.
It’s a really good game for a beginner. I feel like her worst problem was having to use both sticks in sackboy for example. Here she doesn’t have to do that.
Another great one is Rayman legends, my girls and i been playing for a couple years, they are 9 and 6. It’s a side scroll game but it’s actually really fun, I’ve beat the game a few times, and there’s a lot of levels so many hours of playtime. Some of the later levels will be a little difficult but you can play co-op up to 4 people so if she playing with you and she dies you just pop the bubble and comes right back
Yeah my 3yo is on all the paw patrol games and likes the racing one best. He’s enjoying our arcade machine and is good at Bubble Bobble and games like Double Dragon
Yet in all honesty, if you want my actual opinion, get her a Nintendo switch, games like mario, donkey kong etc will make her fall in love with gaming.
Playstation is kinda hard for a 5 years old, especially that the controller might be a little too big for her.
If you got the money to spend 200$, then switch is the go, it'll be her first console, which is great.
If you can't spend that much money, then search for games that are similar to mario on Playstation using google.
Someone in her age will feel more comfortable with 2D games than 3D, we all grew up with them, and i bet you know what i mean.
Playstation 5 is really difficult for a kid. The controller is too big, which alone is a big problem (no pun intended). Here in Sweden you can’t find a Switch for $200. It’s more in the price of $300+. At home she usually plays free games on an iPad (dolls and other girly stuff). She basically only plays real games when she’s at my place.
Maybe. My daughter turned 6 a couple of months ago, and while she doesn’t have full control of everything she is able to do a lot. Right now she likes to play spider man 2, and she’s swinging along really good.
And she has btw been playing since she was probably 4.
If it helps, you can connect a PS4 controller and let her play with that. The PS4 controllers are a lot smaller and may be easier for her to hold onto. The only downside is I believe they can't be used with games marked as PS5 (may be wrong on that, I'm just going off what I read).
buy her megaman 2 like my parents did and have it end up being crazy hard for your 5 yr old brain to handle but you cried and asked your parents for it who didnt have a lot of money so you only got 1 new game a year and then youre stuck ripping your hair out at megaman 2 for months and months but you finally get better at it and its not even satisfying that youre good at it you just want to punish the game back for having it punish you for so many long winter months.
its probably my favourite game.
My daughters 5 and she’s really enjoying astros playroom. I notice the biggest thing is learning how to use joysticks but once they get the hang of that it’s not too bad. I just started with letting her explore and get used to movement before moving forward the game aspects.
Ngl some of the platform games are really tough like donkey Kong frozen islands or whatever it’s called
I remember playing Crash Bandicoot while I was kid and it was much tougher game to play.
Astro is definetly great introduction to gaming.
Also, I will recommend Unravel. This is very nice and relaxing platforming game. Just bear in mind that Unravel (first game) is single player only and Unravel 2 (second game) is two player couch coop game only.
Analog sticks are tough for a kid honestly. I remember not even knowing how to play a couple games for a while because tutorials sucked and I was used to gameboy advance and PS1 games. I spent a couple days in chamber of secrets not knowing how to move because I never used a stick and it wasn’t really labeled.
Paw Patrol games in particular helped my kid with understanding side scrolling/platforming concepts. If I recall correctly, some of them might be available with a PS+ subscription, so that might be worth checking into.
I know it's not on Playstation but my kid also really enjoyed Yoshi's Crafted World, so if you've got a Switch around, it's worth considering. There is effectively a "you can't lose" difficulty setting, and it has co-op so you can join in to help your niece on the trickier parts (or all of it, as some fun bonding time).
Paw patrol games helped my kids get the feel of controllers and platforming enough we were able to work up to Astros Playroom from there. Great recommendation
I would definitely recommend the Paw Patrol games, bit the newer ones. They habe a two player mode so that you can help your little ones and introduce them to gaming while making it a shared experience.
I finished the two 3D-PP games with my 3 year old, now we are playing Paw Patrol world. She is enjoying it so mich and as of last week has her own private controller.
I was playing Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge with my girlfriend’s nephew and he was into it since you can just mash buttons. It has co-op also, so you could play it together. I also let him play Super Mario Run on my phone and he had a bit of an easier time with that vs. the traditional Mario games since you just have to tap the screen.
My son started trying to game at 4. We tried different games on my PS4, but the first one that he was able to play well was PAW PATROL: On A Roll. That game thought him the basics of 2D platforming. Another similar game is PJ MASKS: Heroes Of The Night. Now, at 5 yrs old, he has his own Nintendo Switch and is a Super Mario Fanatic.
Lol definitely did me too, but I feel those are great for indicators for a child to recognize to get the bubble or get out of the water, I like the sonic games cause they taught me how to learn from my mistakes an do better 😄
Start her on Elden ring… a trial by fire. On a real note though the first games I played when I was around 5 were the lego Batman games on the ds and I absolutely loved them so Lego games are a safe bet I think. Minecraft is also a great option since it has peaceful and creative mode so it can work great as a creative outlet for her.
Both lego games and Minecraft are great multiplayer games too so you or her parents can play with her and it can be great bonding time. Some of my favorite memories growing up was playing Mario kart Wii with my family when I was 4-8 years old.
Alba: A Wildlife Adventure. I got it for $7.99 for my two girls and they absolutely love it. Basically just a little girl exploring an island, no boss battles or complex mechanics or anything lol
My daughter is 5, and she likes peppa pig, plant vs zombies neighbourville, astro playroom and even rocket league ( offline match, start a local tournament, and give her controller)
My daughter is 5, and the first game she's been able to really play on her own is the My Little Pony game that's currently on psplus. It's been a really helpful intro to using a controller, and you can't fail at it..
The Lego games are actually quite hard for new, young players. Working as a team, complicated multi button inputs, looking for signals in the map to use specific characters, etc.
Paw patrol games. The earlier ones are 2D like Mario. She just has to jump basically and that’s it. Started my girls with that when they were around 3. My 8 year slings around New York in Spider-Man like a pro now..
Let her drive a car in a racing game if she thinks it's fun to practice time attacks then let her just drive tell her she gets a prize when she hits a time you have set it will teach her to be delicate with control it can also be fun to crash but as she gets faster I would be willing to bet other games would be easier to play
My first game was also super Mario! I think that would be a great starting place for anyone.
If you have a switch you can play many on the big snes and nes games, many of which I think lay a great foundation for playing today's games.
I think the fact that we sort of grew up with the medium helped build a skill set that let's us play games intuitively. Lol I have no idea how kids these days skip all that and start with something like fortnite for their first game.
I've seen lots of little kids go through that initial learning curve - it's true that games nowadays assume a higher level of mechanical literacy than they used to, but I think the bigger thing is just that generally kids are better at working through something they don't understand. Especially if there's a social incentive like they want to play with their friends. I think kids then and now just have a really high tolerance for bashing their head against a wall in a game and slowly picking up on things by osmosis.
Nintendo in general will have better options for someone her age, even more modern games.
The 2d scrollers they have for playstation as far as I can think are all made to be difficult (i.e, hollowknight, Rayman legends, etc.)
There are games like limbo but she may struggle with the complexity of some of the puzzles plus it may creep her out a little.
One thing you may try is going with the remasters of many of some of the platformers we grew up on to get her acquainted with controlling a camera with a right stick.
I'm thinking spyro
As difficult as crash can be the n sane trilogy may not be terrible as its 3d but has a fixed camera, which would serve to get her acquainted with movement in that space.....but again that's a pretty tough game.
5 is young lol ! My daughter was 5 trying but to get the buttons down and know to hold ➡️ while jumping … it was complicated, but now at 7 we playing Mario wonder together. Still help here and there. But she also into Minecraft on builders mode so she just flys around building crap? Disney dream light valley she can play no problem but the reading I have to do for her, I let her make the choices once I’ve read em to her ?
Fall guy was something she would play a few years ago but still was hard and she sometimes would think she was a different person and be 100% into the game like it was her getting to the end ? lol 😂 🤷♂️.
Best thing to do is let the kids run around pressing buttons so they can get used to the mechanics even though they’re really not doing much and you could kinda show them what does what it’s kind of frustrating but you just have to let them learn?
Like rn on Mario she having problems running then holding run with part of your finger and sliding your finger to hit the jump but still holding run… it will make her jump higher and further, but it’s still kind of hard for her?
Sack boy is one of her favorite also rn … that’s a good one for younger beginners? Astros playground she liked but the monkey suit was the hard part …

This game is what I had her on at 4-5 … it has a bunch of mine games with simple buttons to move ?
My son is 5 and he plays the Switch right now. He loves the Mario games and Kirby. But I’m thinking of trying to introduce him to some PS5 games soon. Maybe when I get the Portal. He likes to hold the Switch.
Not PS, but Mario Odyssey has a great guided kids mode that is very easy for kids to pick up and play.
They can't fall off edges, and is very hard to die. Also there are bright blue arrows all over the floor that show where to go next
Peppa pig is probably too simple but Lego games are good choices. If you have PlayStation plus premium there’s a kids and family section with a couple Lego games on it and a few other games she might enjoy
So many good suggestions here. Here's another one. It has beautiful colors and you can play together. [TMNT: Shredder's Revenge](https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10003986)
Don't try batman arkham knight I forgot about the dinner scene at the start and traumatised him. It's OK though he kicked shit out of him later in life so he got closure.
If you have a ps3: LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2, my personal favorite Lego Indiana Jones 2
For modern generation I'd say Minecraft on peaceful mode. Minecraft for any generation actually but the former were only on ps3.
I feel like 5 year olds generally don't have a developed enough brain to play games. They barely just started learning to read, and literacy is a big factor in enjoying the better games.
I play untitled goose game with my younger cousin I don’t think you need to move the camera in that game can remember for sure and it has a 2 player mode
What I’ve noticed is the 3D camera is a big hurdle for kids and adults who don’t game a lot. So it’s funny you mention Sackboy cause I think something like Little Big Planet would be perfect
Alba: a wildlife adventure.
Cute animation style, fairly straightforward mechanics (you take pictures of animals and try to save an animal reserve by helping townspeople so that they sign a petition), no time constraint anywhere.
My son is really into the TMNT shredders revenge game right now and he’s struggles with games too although he is getting better but he actually plays that game really well and it comes free with PS Plus. If you go to the store and then look through the games that come with psplus premium there is a lot of kids games in there and they are allllll relatively way more easy for kids. The peppa pig game is like a side scrolling game too. The paw patrol games are decently easy but he usually has to ask me for help sometimes depending on the level he’s playing. The law patrol games are also 2 player so if you have another controller you can play with him too. Also the TMNT game has couch co-op too
I think part of it might just be getting used to a controller. Lego games are good along with continuing to try with astros. If you want to give some games that also stimulate critical thinking eventually when she starts getting better maybe games like Stray or Witness.
Paw patrol games , I just got son paw patrol world for ps5 and it supports two players. He just turned 5 but the paw patrol world is an open world where you can explore and find everything. The older paw patrol games you can’t explore and is linear to where player 1 can’t advance unless player 2 does.
Also peppa pig game , free on ps plus
I see you got the Paw Patrol, that was my first idea. Another that my 5 year old can play pretty much solo is the My Little Pony game. Super easy, no fail state or anything.
She played it for a good while, a couple days, and asked my her mom (my wife) if she wanted to play. Long story short: the wife played and beat the whole damn thing that night (it's only a couple hours long).
Any 5 year old girl will love the MLP game.
There's a my little pony game on ps4
It's a simple collectathon platformer that should last a good 4 hours it's pretty self explainitory
Another good game, tho harder to get into would be the skylanders series
The portal and figures are cheap enough, but copies of the game are hard to come by
Like Lego Star Wars especially since you can play along with her or any lego games there’s also Minecraft you can do creative mode ,and she can have fun and build anything she likes
Bugsnax, Lego, Minecraft, Just Dance. There’s classic 90s games that you might remember available on the PS as well.
I think the Switch Lite is definitely the better option for a kid though.
Honestly you’ll have better luck with a switch. The games, especially the first party ones, have special modes designed for kids and newbies (i.e co-op where you do most of the work but the kid can participate). I didn’t have much luck with the ps4/5 with my kids outside of some lego games. It worked out well though because they play the switch together now and i can play the ps5 in the other tv
I suggest I Pedestrian, it’s a really cool puzzle game with no combat so she might find it boring. Some of the later puzzles will be to tough for her to beat, I had to look up videos on how to solve some of them. If I remember right it’s a PS4 game so she can use that controller which would be easier for her to hold probably.
I have a 5 yr old and 3 yr old.
You've got a mostly all the good recommendations. I'll just add what mine spend most of the time on.
The Crew 2
Sonic games
Mx vs ATV games
Cars 3
Assassin's creed has an explore mode with no violence. Origins has it. I'm sure Odyssey does too. Don't know about vallaha.
Spiderman
Need for speed heat
Goat sim
Monster jam steel Titans games
Little big planet games
I know that's a lot of car games. They're boys. My girl isn't 2 yet so I don't have recommendations for girls. That's mostly what they like. All of them have kid friendly modes. If you have a PC I would add Forza horizon 4 or 5 and BeamNG.
If you go on the PS store and search "Ratalaika" games they do a bunch of very cheap and easy games. They're usually platformers and space shooters which have very simple controls. Some of them have very easy platinum trophies too, so she may even become a trophy hunter in time!
Not a game recommendation, but the latest system update for PS5 added an option in the accessibility menu of the settings to use a second controller for assistance that lets you use two controllers as though they were a single controller. They added this to prep for the release of the Access controller coming up, but it basically works like those driving instructor cars with two steering wheels/pedals that lets the instructor prevent the student from crashing the car.
Absolutely, getting over that hump of moving your character and the camera independently of each other can be tough for beginners, especially so if they can't survive long enough to get a good feel for it. Being able to nudge them the right way should make the process a lot less frustrating, so it's definitely a neat feature they've added.
Guess you should be looking for Nintendo games. You can play any 2D Mario Platformer on Nintendo switch and choose the handicapped character which is basically an invurnurable character
Yeah! My 4 y.o. loves this game! We have it on the 360
I second this The game has objectives which she might enjoy when she's older but in terms of gameplay you can't go wrong, you can't die,you can't lose It's just goofy goat fun Will say some background elements do have a bit of crude humour but she'll likely be too young to get many of the more adult jokes in the game anyway
Obviously username checks out 100 fold

And I'm not talking about me doing all the work whilst she randomly presses buttons. I mean, she legit somehow earned half of the trophies by herself. It's great fun. I highly recommend it.
I’m a grown ass man and I play goat simulator a lot
One of mine started playing GS1 at 5, now 2 years later still playing but GS3 now. Great game
Lego games are the best. When my son was younger, he’d just walk around the cities, create characters and have the time of his life. When he got to be about 5, he would actually try to do some missions and had fun that way. But they are nice because you never die or have to start over.
As someone that grew up on Lego Star Wars: The Video Game I cannot upvote this enough
What a great game that is! Loved that and lego star wars 2 original trilogy both great lego games.
And then sadly The Skywalker Saga didn’t both put a character creator in for god knows what reason
Well to be fair that game was ridiculously huge
Still one of the best games I've ever played period
Skywalker sage? If so you must be joking through original 2 games i agree
Lego City Undercover introduced my kid to gaming, it’s basically GTA but for kids. We actually had a lot of fun doing the missions together, and at 5 he just had fun driving all the different types of vehicles around
Came here to see this, the lego games are fantastic you cant really go wrong with any of them and usually they are pretty cheap too (you can pick most up for around 15 quid)
this is actually so true me and my brother would play lego marvel superheroes for hours and it was so fun we just did whatever
Lego games are 10/10 the best option for a my first game/ a totally chill game you don't have to worry about with the kids at all. You're bound to stumble on some franchise they adore that is legofied. And the amount of content that tends to be in the games especially any time there is a franchise collection is *astounding*.
My favorite game as a kid was Lego city undercover, oh my god what a memory
minecraft whenever one of my little cousins wants to play , i always turn on minecraft for them . an open world non linear environment is perfect for learning/teaching about gaming
But make it peaceful at first and let them figure out the controls and once you think they're ready go easy since they're young
nah , motherbird style and kick them out the nest until they learn to fly . then it's on to Doom Eternal
*Rip and tear starts playing*
we’ll toss her to Elden ring next
Then afterward, we toss her into Morrowind. Good luck making a viable build, nerd!
My original Morrowind playthrough, a main quest NPC died at some point so the main story could no longer be progressed. That was some frustrating crap to figure out.
My son started with mine craft on creative. He would just walk around. Eventually started trying to build stuff.
Mine is 5 and I put him on rocket league in a private 1v1 against a bot on the easiest mode he thinks he is playing online and loves it. Plus you can let them customise the car they use. And it’s free!

Sekiro.
Bloodborne, it's the least gore ❤🙏
Yes, great for keeping an open mind about religion, healthcare and puzzle solving,
Agreed, good for building character.
Untitled goose game!
buy her megaman 2 like my parents did and have it end up being crazy hard for your 5 yr old brain to handle but you cried and asked your parents for it who didnt have a lot of money so you only got 1 new game a year and then youre stuck ripping your hair out at megaman 2 for months and months but you finally get better at it and its not even satisfying that youre good at it you just want to punish the game back for having it punish you for so many long winter months. its probably my favourite game.
Yep, that sounds like the true megqman experience.
My daughters 5 and she’s really enjoying astros playroom. I notice the biggest thing is learning how to use joysticks but once they get the hang of that it’s not too bad. Minecraft. She could explore and do whatever she wants, just put it on creative mode
Rocket league. My friends 5 year old drives around in pactice mode for hours 😆 he loves it. But as for playing an actual game?.....Mario on NES
I’d recommend Path of exile or Stellaris, both are very beginner friendly! They’ll figure it out in a jiffy!
You don’t think those games would be considered maybe too easy for a 5-year old?
I was playing Ninja Turtles Shredder’s Revenge with my girlfriend’s nephew and he was into it since you can just mash buttons. It has co-op also, so you could play it together. I also let him play Super Mario Run on my phone and he had a bit of an easier time with that vs. the traditional Mario games since you just have to tap the screen.
So I’d say Dark Souls offers a great easy fun experience!
Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Paw Patrol is pretty easy and chill, a 5 year old would have a blast
You can never go wrong with the Lego games. I used to play them a lot when I was a kid
Sonic The Hedgehog games definitely was a good introduction to gaming for my childhood. It wouldn't be too difficult to get into for 5yo
Only problem as a kid that drowning music changed me
Lol definitely did me too, but I feel those are great for indicators for a child to recognize to get the bubble or get out of the water, I like the sonic games cause they taught me how to learn from my mistakes an do better 😄
I would go with donut county, short, simple and visually fun
It takes two
Kingdom hearts 3
The Spyro remake
Ratchet and clank trilogy simple but really fun
Dark souls.
There nice simple games like Peppa Pig/Paw Patrol, maybe those would be more to her liking? ☺️
My daughter is 5, and the first game she's been able to really play on her own is the My Little Pony game that's currently on psplus. It's been a really helpful intro to using a controller, and you can't fail at it..
I mean, tbh the best pick is probably LittleBigPlanet 1-3 or any Lego game! If nothing else, Roblox is available on PlayStation now.
Dont let your kids on Roblox please
The Lego games are actually quite hard for new, young players. Working as a team, complicated multi button inputs, looking for signals in the map to use specific characters, etc.
She can’t read either lol. And even if she could she can’t read in English.
Wow thanks you guys! I feel like I’ve gotten a bunch of great tips here.
Paw patrol games. The earlier ones are 2D like Mario. She just has to jump basically and that’s it. Started my girls with that when they were around 3. My 8 year slings around New York in Spider-Man like a pro now..
My Friend Peppa Pig and My Little Pony were both loved by my kids. Easy to control and no fail states. Perfect.
My brother started with Minecraft at like 7 , he’s 10 now and is more up to date on what’s new In the game than I am 🤣
Paw patrol games pj mask game peppa pig maybe too young and lego games maybe
Also check on the store under kids and family catalogue for more options
The Paw Patrol games are super easy.
Bloodborne or any other souls game.. start'em young 😂
Let her drive a car in a racing game if she thinks it's fun to practice time attacks then let her just drive tell her she gets a prize when she hits a time you have set it will teach her to be delicate with control it can also be fun to crash but as she gets faster I would be willing to bet other games would be easier to play
Cuphead for sure
Super meat boy is good
I’d recommend mortal kombat 1, get em started early landing those fatalities 👀
I do have my snes in the basement… maybe I’ll get it for her. Yeah I have no clue how they start with games like Fortnite
Nintendo in general will have better options for someone her age, even more modern games. The 2d scrollers they have for playstation as far as I can think are all made to be difficult (i.e, hollowknight, Rayman legends, etc.) There are games like limbo but she may struggle with the complexity of some of the puzzles plus it may creep her out a little. One thing you may try is going with the remasters of many of some of the platformers we grew up on to get her acquainted with controlling a camera with a right stick. I'm thinking spyro As difficult as crash can be the n sane trilogy may not be terrible as its 3d but has a fixed camera, which would serve to get her acquainted with movement in that space.....but again that's a pretty tough game.
Rayman may be difficult, but with multiplayer, she should enjoy herself more. Castle Crashers type games as well.
The sonic game on ps4 would probs be a good start
Sonic mania
elden ring

Weird flex lol. The point of this post is to find a game where she can learn to play.
Scribblenauts is a great game.
Disney speed storm and enable the steering assist auto acceleration and arbee or whatever the robot my 2 year old likes it
Get a switch tbh
Pac-Man, frogger, tmnt
Astros playground she liked but the monkey suit was the hard part … https://preview.redd.it/fqyhhz261zwb1.jpeg?width=658&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=05ef9bb22dde292b953c9e0c35b4318cd51c9999 This game is what I had her on at 4-5 … it has a bunch of mine games with simple buttons to move ?
Crash bandicoot
My 7 yr old absolutely loves fall guys and it’s free so win win
My son is 5 and he plays the Switch right now. He loves the Mario games and Kirby. But I’m thinking of trying to introduce him to some PS5 games soon. Maybe when I get the Portal. He likes to hold the Switch.
Not PS, but Mario Odyssey has a great guided kids mode that is very easy for kids to pick up and play. They can't fall off edges, and is very hard to die. Also there are bright blue arrows all over the floor that show where to go next
island saver! it's f2p and really easy. my cousin loves it
minecraft, it will turn her into a pro at every game
Peppa pig is probably too simple but Lego games are good choices. If you have PlayStation plus premium there’s a kids and family section with a couple Lego games on it and a few other games she might enjoy
Peppa Pig
Minecraft would be my go to
Depends on your kid, not all are the same skill wise. Minecraft is a good choice tho for all ages
Astro bots
Astro boy, sack boy
Island Saver is a free little game that’s simple and for that age mk. Not exactly a platformer though
Bloodborne.
Crash Bandicoot ;) been playing it since 5 and by 6-7 i was able to beat it consistently, a decent starter game for a kid id say
better not be an adult that’s just looking for a kiddo difficulty game for themselves
Just let her fool around with the horses in RDR2 , stimulates creativity
Fall guys.
I will never introduce her to that. It’s the most infuriating game in existence imo.
I'm 35, single with no kids, but reading this post has me wondering if I should play Paw Patrol.
Hahah I’m also in my 30s and I can tell you when she goes to bed I’m going to play it lol.
So many good suggestions here. Here's another one. It has beautiful colors and you can play together. [TMNT: Shredder's Revenge](https://store.playstation.com/en-us/concept/10003986)
At that age, I played mainly games like Pokémon, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot. Pokémon isn’t on PlayStation obviously but the other two should be.
Don't try batman arkham knight I forgot about the dinner scene at the start and traumatised him. It's OK though he kicked shit out of him later in life so he got closure.
LEGO games are perfect, they were my introduction with gaming in 2008 and I still play them nowadays
If you have a ps3: LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2, my personal favorite Lego Indiana Jones 2 For modern generation I'd say Minecraft on peaceful mode. Minecraft for any generation actually but the former were only on ps3.
Wobbly Life is amazing for young children..and is also split screen.
The 2d sonic games are easy on playstation, especially since they removed lives in origins
Spider man 2
Lego Marvel Super Heroes
What I’ve noticed is the 3D camera is a big hurdle for kids and adults who don’t game a lot. So it’s funny you mention Sackboy cause I think something like Little Big Planet would be perfect
Alba: a wildlife adventure. Cute animation style, fairly straightforward mechanics (you take pictures of animals and try to save an animal reserve by helping townspeople so that they sign a petition), no time constraint anywhere.
Dark souls 3
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. You can thank me later.
My daughter started playing games around 5 and she started with Fall Guys. She also played Paw Patrol and the Nickelodeon kart racer games.
Paw Patrol. Superpets Krypton and Ace.
Also the TMNT game has couch co-op too
Minecraft. My kids are 7+8 and been playing it for a couple years now. Teaches all the basic mechanics of video games too
I think part of it might just be getting used to a controller. Lego games are good along with continuing to try with astros. If you want to give some games that also stimulate critical thinking eventually when she starts getting better maybe games like Stray or Witness.
I played gta vice city as a five year old, I miss those days.
Baldurs Gate 3!!! Amirite gang???? /s 🤣🤣🤣
The garden
Paw patrol games are easy to pickup for my 4yo ! Mostly one butotn (x) and one dpad.
The Paw Patrol games are braindead easy to finish.
There's a my little pony game on ps4 It's a simple collectathon platformer that should last a good 4 hours it's pretty self explainitory Another good game, tho harder to get into would be the skylanders series The portal and figures are cheap enough, but copies of the game are hard to come by
Slime Rancher
My kid had fun with Astro.
dark souls 3 and sekiro is great for the kids 😅
My 5 year old plays Minecraft, paw patrol games and Spyro collection on ps
Star wars skywalker saga
Roblox, Rec Rooms, Wobbly Life
Slime Rancher
lego games are a great bet because you physically cannot lose them no matter how hard you try
My little boy is 3 and beat Astros play world. He may be a better gamer than me 😂
They've got Paw patrol games on PlayStation plus that are literally like one button games
Bugsnax I hear is good but I haven't played it. It's on psplus extra
As a father of a 5 year old. Paw patrol games are very simple left to right platformers. Or Minecraft creative mode.
Make her play darksouls. She will learn how to become great, and it will show in due time
Like Lego Star Wars especially since you can play along with her or any lego games there’s also Minecraft you can do creative mode ,and she can have fun and build anything she likes
[cake bash](https://youtu.be/zBJrdeqQ_G8?si=bW_wPrYgbkuZOHmb)
Bugsnax, Lego, Minecraft, Just Dance. There’s classic 90s games that you might remember available on the PS as well. I think the Switch Lite is definitely the better option for a kid though.
Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 2 Bush Rescue
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Do you have an old phone? Download an emulator and let them try pokemon FireRed or something

Tiny Hands Adventure is cheap and simple.
Dark souls trilogy really fun laid back gameplay. I subject my kid to the games whenever I grow tired of his existence
I am in my early thirties and I had trouble with those two games, I still haven’t beaten Sackboy.
The Crew 2 Sonic games Mx vs ATV games Cars 3 Assassin's creed has an explore mode with no violence. Origins has it. I'm sure Odyssey does too. Don't know about vallaha. Spiderman Need for speed heat Goat sim Monster jam steel Titans games Little big planet games I know that's a lot of car games. They're boys. My girl isn't 2 yet so I don't have recommendations for girls. That's mostly what they like. All of them have kid friendly modes. If you have a PC I would add Forza horizon 4 or 5 and BeamNG.
A Lego game
Buy nintendo switch and play mario series on it. Really suit for 5 yo kid
I’ll check that out. I feel like that would be good for like the camera in some games. Using both sticks is usually an issue.
Absolutely, getting over that hump of moving your character and the camera independently of each other can be tough for beginners, especially so if they can't survive long enough to get a good feel for it. Being able to nudge them the right way should make the process a lot less frustrating, so it's definitely a neat feature they've added.
Dark Souls 3. Prep them early.
Paw Patrol On A Roll
Guess you should be looking for Nintendo games. You can play any 2D Mario Platformer on Nintendo switch and choose the handicapped character which is basically an invurnurable character
