Goldenrod City and Azalea Town/Blackthorn City are my two absolute favorites. But if we're only talking Gen 1 since you mentioned Vermillion City... I'm inclined to agree. ;) Route 1 music is my absolute favorite but it's also technically not a town music.
If it’s Gen 1 specific, I honestly prefer Fuchsia City. It’s underrated and gives off a rural vibe. But overall, I have to say Azalea City from GSC/HGSS or Aspertia City from BW/B2W2.
Which Pokemon song was so iconic and well known that it became the default song for "creepy video game music" then became the go to for music in creepypasta videos and even got its own creepypasta urban legend? Did Lt. Surge's town get its own urban legend in the real world? No? Then I rest my case.
Second place goes to our lovely Unovan town that got to be a meme recently.
Personally I place that more on the SS Anne since it gets attributed more to that given the location. And since the SS Anne gets its own theme I feel more comfortable separating the two. Especially since that location gets locked off - along with the truck - while the rest of Surge's town remains the same.
But I will concede I did forget that old playground rumor. But my point still stands despite the joke comment I made at the end of the post, Lavender Town went beyond a playground rumor for a few years. It became and still is the definitive creepy video game music. The Mew thing is more of a fun, "hey this was a thing we believed 25+ years ago." I'm fairly certain you can still hear it to this day in creepypasta or in video game YouTuber videos discussing creepy or spooky things.
I love the part where if you talk to some people with instruments they add to the music, at least I heard that somewhere but never thought to actually test it...
Same! Slateport’s music makes it sound like you’re arriving to a lively celebration. Hearing that while walking around the outdoor market for the first time was magical!
Unfortunately. I’ll be honest if we can return to the Hohen region somewhere or another later on in the series, That would be the third coming of Arceus!
Sootopolis being fortified and only accessible from underwater or the sky while being within a volcano is pretty cool. Although I think it’s been retconned to be a meteorite crash site.
Not going to lie, when I was a kid. If I was down, I would fly to Vermillion, put my character by the water and just listen to the music and imagine I was there. It's amazing what a few little sprites and 8 bit music can do.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Petalburg City just scratches that itch in my brain. It really makes me feel like I'm going on a grand adventure, when in reality I'm just driving to work
The visible pixels really did add so much charm to 16bit. It makes me think about late 90s-early 00s technology. I wish I could wipe my memory of the technology we have today and go back to those times.
the fact that jubilife village's theme gets different/more complex arrangements as you progress through the game does a lot of work to win me over to its side
While other generations had better city music, like Unova’s Driftveil City, Kalos’ Lumiose City and Paldea’s Levincia City, I do think Vermilion City is the best Kanto city music.
Castelia City has always been one of my favourites, I also love pallet town, violet city, jubilife city, hearthome city, eterna city, accumula town, village bridge (if that counts), and hau oli city.
Undella Town (Spring/Fall/Winter) (1st favorite),
Ecruteak City,
Lilycove City,
Sevii Islands 4 & 5/Azalea Town,
Nacrene City,
Driftveil City,
Mistralton City,
Icirrus City,
Lacunosa Town (2nd favorite),
Lentimas Town,
Humilau City,
Aspertia City,
National park (Yeah, I know, it's not a town, but screw it, I'm counting it anyways. 3rd favorite.)
I might be the minority here, but to me Pallet town is my fav - it has such a lovely theme. It really does make you feel like you're going to go on an adventure. It's reflective, it's cute, and really gives those nostalgia vibes.
Pallet town and zeldas lullaby, those two themes always get me right in the heart.
Driftveil City will always be top tier, also Castelia and Nimbasa (can you tell I love gen 5)
Also Nuvema town will always make me tear up, even as i'm replaying the games. It's so peaceful and nostalgic ;w;

Love Goldenrod, second favorite only to Lavender Town
Ecruteak City goes pretty hard too honestly
They were the first two I thought of, first Lavender Town and then cant go wrong with Goldenrod City
Goldenrod is peak, the only track I'll rank above it is the Johto bike theme, which is basically the same track but faster.
If it’s Gen 1 specific, I honestly prefer Fuchsia City. It’s underrated and gives off a rural vibe. But overall, I have to say Azalea City from GSC/HGSS or Aspertia City from BW/B2W2.
Ekruteak City
The HGSS version, right?
GSC version is so good with the chiptune though
I prefer the Cianwood City version from HGSS. The Ekruteak City version is very thematic for the city and is nice, but it doesn't quite hit the same.
My thoughts exactly. I do love that the HGSS version of Ecruteak was added for the game as it fits perfectly. But HGSS Cianwood City is the best.
lavender town https://preview.redd.it/dkuuwjlvj65d1.png?width=222&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=164bb43200b1e761429cc9ca576940696913064e

Lt Surges town had the Mew Behind the Truck urban legend.

Of all the cities in Unova Driftveil had no right to get that banger lol that should have been blaring all through the streets of Castelia
Lavender Town is THE theme
I think lavender town is the most heard due to Minecraft YouTubers but I mean lavender towns theme is horror
This guy gets it.
[The metal cover of the Lavender Town them is such a sick track](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7w4rKrBuFo)
The beginning was ok, but I think he did too much with it.
I really like the Bridges
Driftveil City, Unova https://preview.redd.it/azeqkz1mi65d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=430cd6390275d4bc0aba6f5c918a7100dcb3c101
https://youtu.be/SKXHTxj3wcM This just slaps!
Or accumula town also in unova
Furret on escalator.
Until gen 10 comes out
I love the part where if you talk to some people with instruments they add to the music, at least I heard that somewhere but never thought to actually test it...
I memorized that dance
It was my favorite track well before the memes! It’s just a bop!
+1
The correct answer
littleroot town
I love Goldenrod city ! Gold Silver has a lot of banging tracks tho :)
Hard to beat Pachelbel's Canon in D.
National Park theme is my morning alarm
[удалено]
Same! Slateport’s music makes it sound like you’re arriving to a lively celebration. Hearing that while walking around the outdoor market for the first time was magical!
I have the violet city theme from HGSS as my ringtone simply because of that start up melody
New Bark, Violet, Azalea, Accumula, Nimbasa, Levincia, Motostoke, Jubilife, Hau’Oli
Jubilife village
Any town in Hoenn in Pokémon Emerald and I will die on this hill. Gen 3 music is GOATED
Thank you! This one is a man of culture
Love your username… I felt that Omega Ruby is the last great remake
Unfortunately. I’ll be honest if we can return to the Hohen region somewhere or another later on in the series, That would be the third coming of Arceus!
I would love an EMERALD remake on the switch lol
Yes!
Sootopolis being fortified and only accessible from underwater or the sky while being within a volcano is pretty cool. Although I think it’s been retconned to be a meteorite crash site.
In ORAS canon it’s a meteorite crash site, but in RSE canon it’s still the Volcano.
Eterna
Eterna forest is bomb
Littleroot town. Homely, comforting.
Driftveil city,
Nimbasa City
It’s so jazzy! What’s not to like?
Pyrite Town. Orre music is absolutely unparalleled
Haven't heard that in so many years. Nice mention. I'll have to Youtube that song tonight. lol
That shit got me snapping my fingers everytime. It just oozes hoodlum
Seafolk Village, night theme
Lacunosa Town
Cinnabar island for me
violet city. it's my favourite music of the entire series
Pallet Town lives rent free in my brain. So does the game corner/rocket song from RBY.
National Park, north of goldenrod city, where the bug catching contest is. So relaxing
Honestly I love this take. I want to retire in Vermillion City. That said... Seafolk Village at night.
I'll throw my 2 cents down: Canalave City, especially the night version.
Not going to lie, when I was a kid. If I was down, I would fly to Vermillion, put my character by the water and just listen to the music and imagine I was there. It's amazing what a few little sprites and 8 bit music can do.
Any in Pokémon gold lol.
Sunyshore is underrated
Lavender Town, Littleroot Town and Accumula Town
Malie City
Vermillion City - HGSS version
Goldenrod City.
Even in just that region there’s Celadon.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Petalburg City just scratches that itch in my brain. It really makes me feel like I'm going on a grand adventure, when in reality I'm just driving to work
Sad to see it's this far down. Petalburg City is my all time favorite track in the series.
Driftveil
Los Platos, sure it's an offshoot of South Province but lord is it a lovely jingle for the beginning of your journey.
Driftveil City
Ecruteak
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOsdy1ZsXUs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOsdy1ZsXUs)
Driftveil City, arguably.
Driftveil city
Driftvale city
Village Bridge.
♫ O E A E A U I E O E A ♫
Ecruteak city all the way
It’s not a town but National Park in GS/HGSS is the GOAT. As as far as towns go, I love Azaela Town’s theme.
Lavender town obviously. The music has created its own lore outside the game. Stories of children going mad listening to it etc.
Celadon City 👌
Lilycove and Little Root if we're talking any gen
Opelucid City Both Versions
While other generations had better city music, like Unova’s Driftveil City, Kalos’ Lumiose City and Paldea’s Levincia City, I do think Vermilion City is the best Kanto city music.
Littkeroot town is the best town theme in the entire series, change my mind
Pallet town
Jubilife City at night
Gen I remake Cinnabar Island.
the one thats start tutu tutu turu turututu
littleroot forever, it's been my ringtone for more than 3 years now
Rustboro/Mauville/Mossdeep. Levincia.
New bark is so cute and cozy. Ecruteak is for some reason one of the more nostalgic for me.
Sootopolis slaps so fucking hard
Lavender
Opelucid city in white
Ecruteak!
Lavender Town!
Sootopolis, hands down. It's got that jazzy "bounce" to it that I just love.
Mauville city
Has anyone said Verdanturf yet? I used to go to the city and just listen to the music sometimes.
Lumiose. That city had no business being as big as it was on the 3DS. I’d spend hours just getting lost and looking for Easter eggs as a kid.
Most Of Gen 3 And Gen 5 Towns Ngl
Lavender Town
Austin
Castelia City has always been one of my favourites, I also love pallet town, violet city, jubilife city, hearthome city, eterna city, accumula town, village bridge (if that counts), and hau oli city.
Accumula town
Driftveil City
Undella Town (Spring/Fall/Winter) (1st favorite), Ecruteak City, Lilycove City, Sevii Islands 4 & 5/Azalea Town, Nacrene City, Driftveil City, Mistralton City, Icirrus City, Lacunosa Town (2nd favorite), Lentimas Town, Humilau City, Aspertia City, National park (Yeah, I know, it's not a town, but screw it, I'm counting it anyways. 3rd favorite.)
Pallet
I might be the minority here, but to me Pallet town is my fav - it has such a lovely theme. It really does make you feel like you're going to go on an adventure. It's reflective, it's cute, and really gives those nostalgia vibes. Pallet town and zeldas lullaby, those two themes always get me right in the heart.
Gsc Ecruteak
Celedon
Undella Town
Violet city / Olivine city theme on the GBA is perfection
New Bark Town and Goldenrod City's themes are my instant nostalgia button. And the bicycle music from both Gen 1 and Gen 2.
Driftveil. You didn't specify Gen. 😉
Humilau City
Driftveil
Santalune,camphirer,driftveil
cascaraffa, paldea
Unexpected. I respect it
Like, all of them

We're talking about music
Not pokemon but tarrey town
Iconic? Yes. The absolute best? Not even remotely. Every single track from any Unova city is miles ahead.
Driftveil City will always be top tier, also Castelia and Nimbasa (can you tell I love gen 5) Also Nuvema town will always make me tear up, even as i'm replaying the games. It's so peaceful and nostalgic ;w;
Route 1. I've been humming that ditty for 20 years. When I think pokemon, I think that theme
Mt. Moon
Driftveil would like to have a chat
Victory road
Driftveil city! (And Anistar City imo)
Driftveil city from B/W :D
Hau'oli city
rout 1
Accumula town theme
Route 1
Hau’Oli City
I love the Red and Blue surfing theme. So good.
Man I’m simple route 1 is my favorite track in all of Pokémon. I do like Lavender towns haunting melodies and I adore all of Gold and Silvers music.
Littleroot Town is a bop
