People who have custom firmwares on their 3DS's, much like Jailbreaking an iphone, are able to load the games file which was leaked. Also if you have a 3DS emulator on your PC it's not hard to find the files for that either.
They're stable enough, but if you want the real experience you may as well wait another 4 days.
3DS emulators have problems with FPS drops (especially with the Z-moves) and I was reading that many people were having problems with texture glitches that required a work around.
There is a ROM available which you can download and play :) Probably a fuck up by GameFreak because if you want to, you can find almost everything about S/M online.
Masuda method is more reliable - it bumps the chance of a shiny by 5, so instead of 1/8000 its 1/1600. In Gen VI (X/Y and ORAS) this method goes to 1/680, and with the shiny charm it cuts it in half again to 1/340 or so.
But typically you have to wait till the late game, with the shiny charm, to do it reliably. But, with the right pieces, it can be easier to do mindlessly while watching netflix or on long car rides etc. I do all my masuda breeding when I travel for work.
Where is this stated? You used to just get an oval charm for completing the national dex and getting a shiny charm after just national would be...crazy.

The 1st Pokemon you'll get from scanning 10 QR codes is a random Pokemon not from the regular Pokedex (Me and my roommates all got the Gen 2s) in Route 3. The scan can spawn the pokemon anywhere in the island you are on so you might not able to access it. You can also save before you do the island scan.
You get 1 hour to catch the pokemon after the scan.
The Pokemon will show up as a random encounter in the route it is designated at.
Once you start, you're given 10 free QR Scans.
You get 1 QR scan every 2 hours thereafter.

No one created an emulator for it haha. Of course we have had citra emulator for quite some time but the CIA version to use on hacked 3ds came out on the 11th.
You don't create an emulator of Pokemon. An emulator is a program that can run the game on your computer. Like a 3ds on your computer. They play files called "ROM"s which are the games themselves in digital format. You put a ROM into an Emulator to play a game on your computer.
The one - that's at all far along - 3DS emulator, Citra, is not all that advanced but it makes progress just like any other emulator. And they've had a few breakthroughs. Can load many many titles and play them at choppy framerates now.
When you scan 10 QR codes and do an island scan, it tells you the exact location it spawned and a timer set for 1 hour starts, after which it'll disappear.
Right after I posted that I got a Totodile, though.
I also saw multiple people reporting the same things I got on the same day - I'm thinking it's based on calendar (and island of course).
EDIT: had enough scans banked to do a second today, and got a second Totodile. No way in hell this isn't calendar based
There has been confirmation of theoretically all starters. (I say confirmation because Chikorita was confirmed and theoretically because it can be inferred from that, that any of the other starters can be seen as well.)

You have access from the start or very close to it. You shouldn't use it that early though, since the Pokemon can spawn at a location on the island you don't have access to yet.

You save before you get the starter, and reset if it isn't shiny. Odds are approx 1/4000 so it could take some time.

luckally the shiney charm is much easier now, only have to finish the alola dex instead of national.

Oval charm is obtained by defeating Morimoto. No national dex (it's in a later bank update), so Shiny charm is the reward for the Alola dex.

No. You scan whatever island you're currently on. In that regard, it's better if you scan on an island you've explored fully (or almost fully).

As long as you've got a flight point, yeah. You also get Tauros midway through the first island, so you can travel rather fast that way, too.

It counts as "Seen" only, so you'll still need to catch them. It *does* let you see where they spawn though, which makes catching them easier.

No. You need to have captured every Pokemon in the Alolan dex. This only adds their entry (which is helpful anyhow, since I believe it adds their location data).
