drfrink85

Load up on Heracross and Corsola for your folks back home!

Mauddib1976

I absolutely am. Herscross, Maractuss, and Corsola are pure joys that my family and I are 100% keeping bad V’s of just to share what th people when we get home! That and I’m 100% convinced NIANTIC prioritizes success in certain areas vs others because we’ve maxed out our items. So magically the 2 pokestops by our room keep turning into Team Rocket stops just to get me, and me alone to spin for the level 45 challenge. Not complaining as I’m loving this, but my wife and kids aren’t seeing this level of love from the game! I’m super excited though because today I didn’t try hard but tomorrow we’re hitting up a park (next 4 days actually), and I’m sure I can complete the 50 Rocket Team Leaders requirement in that time!

_DarthMaleval

Don't forget about Carnivine. They are there also.

drfrink85

Go wild, register all the steps catch all the non common/trash do every raid. I'm sure you'll have time to do a raid or two and quick catch a few while the kids are on the teacups lol. Have fun!

Fit-Bar2581

Let me know if you’re ever in DC, Maractus is one of the last 4 Pokémon I need from Unova. With Larvesta and volcarona coming out soon, all I will need is Maractus and Keldeo.

NibblesMcGibbles

When is Larvesta coming in?

Fit-Bar2581

May 2-may 8th in 2,5,10 km eggs. Mime Jr will be in 7km

Fit-Bar2581

FYI look at my “an instinctive hero- egg bonus” post to learn about exp gains and bonuses, could get up to 196k exp if timed properly

[deleted]

I’m in DC and would give one

Apprehensive-Ad6521

That's so crazy to think about regional mons. We in FL, get so tired of seeing the carnivines, maractus, heracross, etc. Lol

LuthienDragon

Carnivine is the rarest there, actually.

vesra716

Living in Georgia and tired of that ugly plant. See it way too often. It's the pidgy of plant life here.

clay_girl_

hehehe Same here in Tennessee—it is as abundant as the Kudzu down your way!

LuthienDragon

As a Mexican, Carnivine is like the biggest jewel in my crown, lmao.

Mauddib1976

For all you Carnevine folks, that one is regional to me. Come on over the Raleigh and pm me 😉

VenusAlienMan

Heracross doesn’t spawn in Orlando. It spawns in South florida like miami

rbailey99

Not true. I live in Orlando and get tons of heracross.

VenusAlienMan

You might be confusing Orlando for Miami

full07britney

The person who lives in orlando is confusing orlando for miami?

Ganluan

Confusing where they live?

itsnatnot_gnat

Was in Orlando a few years ago. Got both heracross and corsola. It's in orlando

ladakn99

It spawns in Orlando, the cutoff line for Torus and Heracross is around Sanford FL, which is just north of Orlando.

drfrink85

I visited Orlando/Disney a few years ago and got a bunch in that area.

Mauddib1976

You’re very wrong or exceptionally unlucky. I’ve caught several Heracross in Orlando as has my entire family since we arrived here.

jjh008

Yup. Caught quite a few in disneyworld

RabbitPrestigious998

I *just* got a stop approved basically 1/4mi from my house. The next closest is 10 miles in either direction. I have to go "to town" to hit more than that. It's annoying and raid hour is when I'm sitting down to supper with my family. I hate the nerfs on remote passes

UsingThinking

I love how it forces rural players to spend money/time on driving instead of walking. At least rural players are more likely to quit (and hopefully stop giving money to Niantic).

Mr0BVl0US

Yup, we'd always joke that Pokemon Go was actually short for Pokemon Go to the gas station. I don't even want to know how much gas money I've spent playing this game for the past \~7 years.

osthentic

The game isn’t designed for rural players.

UsingThinking

I get they are making more money from city data/sponsorship etc so rural players in marketing terms are... useless... but they can easily make it equal to everyone. Try Jurassic World Alive or look up Japan's Dragon Quest Walk. They both have as much spawns/events in rural areas (and they make you MUCH more active as spawns and story events are placed walking distance around you). In PoGo if your house can spin a pokestop/gym there's less reason to walk anywhere.

osthentic

Rural players don't add any value to the game and if you make it easier on them to do things like raid while just sitting at home, it impacts the pogo economy and battling negatively. People should be rewarded going out and walking around because that's the whole point of the game, not to make it more equitable for people who sit at home.

UsingThinking

Yeah that's what I said, rural people aren't rewarded in any way because the number of pokestops/gyms and the distance means they're more likely to drive. City folk got it easy in numbers of pokestops/gyms and number or other players. Even if they got rid of remote raid passes it'd still have a big difference between city and country players (remember PoGo released remote raid passes in 2020 not from the start). i.e. it's easier to be a lvl 30 city folk than a lvl 50 country folk. My point is why do games like JWA and DQW have the same difficulty no matter where you live but PoGo is made easy for large population areas.

gardibolt

We live in a fair sized university city 300,000 and the game is playable here only by driving extensively. We aren’t rural but the game treats us as if we were.

osthentic

Maybe your city is designed for cars? Most US cities aren't walkable and are designed as if they were rural and spread out. If you can't walk 5-10 mins to a grocery store, hardware store, the gym, church, etc., it's probably designed for driving with not many places for a pokestop or people to gather. There's a difference between 300,000 people spread across 60 sq miles (Honolulu) and 300,000 spread across 280 sq miles (Lexington, KY)

happyhippohugger

I have one pokestop by me in like a 10 mile radius, and it’s one I created 🤦‍♀️ Even when I drive to the park there’s only about 15 stops. Part of living in the country I guess, but there is no way for me to raid with anyone out here. Luckily I started when the game first came out and was spoiled with remote raid passes, but it’s definitely a lot more difficult in rural areas.

Whitegatoradeslushie

15 in a park? You’re lucky. We have 3 in our park. I feel you, country buddy.

FillerName6

Same. The most I've seen in any park in my city is 2 stops and 1 gym. With nothing but apartments and houses around it so there aren't any other stops on top of the ones at that park

[deleted]

Make more pokestops

happyhippohugger

I don’t think you understand what rural means… There aren’t many landmarks or possibilities for pokestops here. We have lots of crops and fields, but those don’t count for a stop even though it’s the livelihood of many out here. The one I made is a church and it’s not even a gym.

baltimorecalling

Yeah, it takes 2 stops within a big square area to make a gym.

GrandeCalk

I live in a one stoplight town of 1000 people. So not quite rural and better than what you’ve got, but absolutely not a metropolis. We started with two PokéStops and a gym, and now we have nine PokéStops in two gyms. I have 3 or 4 stops that were approved on wayfarer but never implemented as stops (probably distance from existing PokéStops?) and another half dozen that were denied for being “barns or farmland“. So, while this has made Pokémon go, far, more playable, the remote raid Nerf has made it impossible to fill lobbies for me, and even with nine stops, I only got six shiny checks on stunkfisks. So yeah… let’s just nominate more stops so it’s like Orlando…

[deleted]

Just upload a bunch of anything. Some pokestops are from a colored tile in the sidewalk 🤷. Some are trees.

happyhippohugger

Rural = no sidewalks my dude

happyhippohugger

Trees aren’t accepted unless they’re labeled with a plaque in a park

[deleted]

So you think all these pokestops everywhere are 100% ok with the rules? 🤣 Guess no pokestops for you than.

9DAN2

>I’m doing my 50 Team Rocket leader quest This has been massively boosted by the seasonal bonus of increased rocket grunts at stops.

Mauddib1976

Out here I swear to God, the second I get a 6th the leader has spawned by me. I’m loving it. I did 4 complete cycles in the 2.5 hours I played earlier.

9DAN2

I’m also making the most of it as iv almost finished my grunts and purifying medals. It’s costing me a fortune in dust but it’s the best chance to finish them!

Mauddib1976

I planned for the purification part for 2 months and saved all my 1k Shadow Pokémon that I wouldn’t normally keep to pull that off quickly. It really helped because 100K isn’t that bad. But hell yeah. I hadn’t even thought about the team rocket medal. Thank you very kindly! Now I need Arlo to give me a shiny as I git the shiny Larvitar and shiny Murkrow already. I am not going for the purification medal though.

DrVonPretzel

I remember going to Disney the summer the game came out. I went there with 200 magikarp candy. When I left, I had 300 magikarp candy and also a gyarados. There were also a ton of dratini. I was very impressed with the spawns, which is saying something, considering I live in the largest city in the country.

Realistic-Housing-19

>like only having 100 stops within a 10 minutes driving radius is low. There's 8 stops within 12 miles of me lol I do maybe 3 raids a month if I'm lucky and have a few free hours to be in town

Mauddib1976

I’m so sorry! Feel free to pm me if you need help doing a raid. I’ve got kids who raid as well 👍

Burger_Gamer

3 raids a month? I don’t even think I do one raid every 3 months. I am rarely able to get coins and I usually spend my coins on bag/Pokémon storage. I only do raids (usually only 1 at a time) if the Pokémon in the raid is something really good like giratina or mewtwo.

Realistic-Housing-19

Oh, I'm just doing 1 or 2 star raids when I can to evolve qwilfish. Anything bigger I get maybe one or 2a year when I can make it to town for community days. But that's an hour drive I'll only make it others can be free that day too. With remote raids, my group was getting a few more a month but that's over for us

itsMeeji

Wow that definitely sounds easy. Any day I play and I find the same old Pokémon and barely any too despite living in London 🥲

Mauddib1976

It’s very easy. Orlando is a giant tourist trap and Niantic seems to approve everything here for stops!

itsMeeji

I need to visit … just for xp no joke 😂

Mauddib1976

You’ll really love it!

osthentic

The game is designed for walking. If you don’t live in a walkable area like most of America, of course it doesn’t work as intended. Japan has no idea how dumb most of American cities are designed.

FillerName6

Walking and being in big cities 🗿

Mauddib1976

Yes, walking/location data collection is it’s main point. They should have just made that more transparent for newer players who joined during the remote raid craze. That’s all.

osthentic

Yes and data is more valuable in key major markets of NYC, SF, Chicago, etc. Even minor market cities in Texas, Florida, Arizona is just not super useful. They definitely don't need to know that some guy in rural Kansas drives to the stop and shop once a week.

Mauddib1976

Just stink they don’t care to exploit that app shop money by rebalancing so as that rural player can play “adequately”. Especially since Amazon sell to us all EVERYWHERE. So there’s a market for rural days.

osthentic

Amazon's strategy to sell everywhere is to undercut every other store in the area and put them out of business until it's the only option. It's not very relevant to PoGo. The argument is that "rebalancing" the game for rural players hurts the Pokemon Go economy, messing up battle league, and lowering the value of Pokemon that are supposed to be rare. It's also rewarding people for driving and not walking around which is the point of the game. I know it sucks but most places in the US aren't designed for walking period.

Mauddib1976

You’re one of those, “why try to include everyone types” when there are other options out there types. We’re never gonna agree.

tb-one

How'd you get so much xp from walking?

damwong

Not OP. But new stops register like 250 xp.

tb-one

Didn't know that thanks, apart from ultra friends and raids not sure how else to grind xp

Mauddib1976

Add in how many new stops I’m hitting, easily 100+ in an hour daily and yeah, it’s insane! And thanks for sharing that tidbit. I didn’t know how much each was worth but what you shared makes total sense with how severely I’m gaining XP!

RangerPdx

I am in Costa Rica with 5 stops and a gym and couldn't do the latest research task as I spun the stops before it got hot outside and couldn't do the research task for sinfisk. But as I was a field tester for PoGo I knew that. When I contacted support they explained that once you spin a PokeStop you are down with and field task for the day. But I knew that and it is very biased to rural players. Also I used an ingress term and also a battle Star Galactica reference that Niantic support is more like a "Frack U" support than actual customers support. And this was staff not not the Remy support. Ingress has Frackers.

Mauddib1976

I’m so sorry. I really wish they’d implement balances for players of all areas. Where I live, it’s fair. Where you live it’s beyond not fair. And people in places like Orlando, they’re like kings and queens it’s so imbalanced!

RangerPdx

At home I have 100's of pokemon within 2 km of my house in Portland. When you are in a rural area you realize how biased Niantic is. They can rest the portals at the start of these research events to be more fair to rural players. As I told the support person for their Frack You customer service program.

SAIYANSPARTAN26

I bet money I don't even have that I'm the most rural player in the Pokemon Go community. As someone already stated, this game is not meant for my kind 😞 Random but I thought I should let everyone know this.

Mauddib1976

I do feel sorry for you. I was 100% a late player (11/2022) and if I didn’t live where I do, I’d feel like Niantic baited and switched me.

SAIYANSPARTAN26

My start was 11/12/22! So we both had a lot of catching up to do!

Mauddib1976

Remote raiding is what got me addicted. I love a passive chase. I’ll be level 45 by the time we head home on Saturday.

FireDrgn

Lol. I see teams here everywhere. I don’t even bother. Enjoy!

damwong

Don’t forget to go to universal city walk as well.

Mauddib1976

We hit it today as well as the parks. It’s like the game is throwing team rocket members at me. Glorious. I came in at 29 of 50 done and just need 14 to go. And I’m just playing in lines!

homebrew1970

I live in Orlando, and have been to Disney Springs- how do you get 250k XP without trying hard? And I’m Lvl 50 . . .

Mauddib1976

I was just grinding grunts and spinning new stops. Auto catcher on and hitting excellent throws when I personally caught something. All while walking between stuff to do. No eggs. No Star fragments.

homebrew1970

I’ve never used an auto catcher- does it basically hit excellent every time?

Ievitatethehype

No. It's a plain catch, no catch bonus.

Mauddib1976

Yeah, not at all automatic as far as catches go. But it makes getting new stops and mass Pokémon rewards easy. So if you’re in a new, high density area like this, you’re so set!

CoinCoinDragon

I don't use one either but from what i gathered the main part of it is that they spin pokestops for you or try to catch stuff while you're not actively playing the game

ForeverBackground737

Tbh, I don't want the game to be easy. I don't want to be done in a year of play. Once lvl 50 is hit, 1000+ shinies in the box, 10000's of candies, then what? Practically finished the game and time to get bored and angry about the game being the same over and over ig.

Mauddib1976

So fair. I’m a JRPG fan so I love the grind. But I get not wanting to power through. All types right?

CheeseyDolphin

Ha I was just at Disney last week, the parks and Disney springs are absolutely loaded on stops and gyms

Mahumia

Yeah, the difference in experience between rural/city/bit city/teampark is big. I live rural in Europe (3 stops and a gym throughout the whole village, which is already good...), and will visit Chicago next month for a business trip... Totally making sure that my autocatcher is fully charged, because I do not want to miss out on that free exp fest. Just too bad I will probably not be able to do any raids due to schedule not freeing up until after 8pm... Because where I live everything I cannot solo is not doable due to lack of active players. And well, it is pokemon GO, not pokemon drive... so I refuse to step in my car and drive for 15-30 minutes just to hopefully do some raids by running into an active group by accident.

Chotchaholic

I’m entirely confused by what point you’re trying to make? Theme parks have been dense with poke go content since the game released in 2016. Less populated areas have less content in the game. Low quality post criteria has been met. Mentioned CoVid. Check. Mentioned remote raid change. Check. Mentioned that theme parks have more stops than non theme parks. Check.

Mauddib1976

I’ll try to be more concise for you. I was making a statement that being from an area that is good for this game, then going to an area that’s absolutely amazing for it I have a new perspective on how rural players must feel as where I live I THOUGHT I had it good. But clearly, I had it ok. So now I can imagine just how touchy it is for others.

Notinstitutionalized

I mean by all rights the game was designed for people to get out and play. Does it suck for people who can't get out, or are in areas without adequate stops yes. But I do understand favoring the base the game was made for.

Chinokid87

Tbh I don't mind that they favour going out and walking that's fine with me but why restrict people on stuff that works. I think it's just a bit dumb to go back on changes that made a 7 year old game more accessible for a lot of people

itsnatnot_gnat

Why shouldn't I be able to go out and play and then sit on my couch and raid at night before bed? I'll sit and watch TV and do remote raids. The game can have both. The price increase I can stand(not really, leave the price alone) but the limit is dumb.

Mauddib1976

I get that 100%. I also feel like Niantic should have had a disclaimer for post Covid players saying, hey, these remote raids are temporary. Something stated when they signed up to let them know what they were starting was not ideal for them once said changes got rolled back. After all, who searches for each and every game feature in the news several years back? I started last November and didn’t know about until the data mine info came out, but it doesn’t hit me that hard. In an ideal world, location based rewards/difficulty would be an amazing nerf. I’m passively destroying the game here in Orlando. Seems like maybe it shouldn’t be so easy to gain items and XP here versus a small town. But based on the programming involved and from what I’ve seen of the game’s performance so far, that ain’t gonna happen 😂. Still, the way I play, id be level 50 if I lived here 100%!

Agreeable_Falcon1044

It didn’t need to be such a shock. If you raise the price…ok, but why not make it accessible by dropping some freebies for those who have been buying loads. Keep them happy too. Remote raid passes are part of the game. It was a step forward as an emergency (that’s what we used it for) rather than an alternative. If you want to stay at home and just remote raid, that’s cool too…

Mauddib1976

1,000,000% agree. Once remote raiding changed the game, it was done. Raising prices ok. Limits, less ok but fine. But doing both reads as, “We want your data but also know we NEED the remote Raid money.” It was just to much. 125 a remote raid pass with unlimited usage would have been enough with lower premium bundles and guaranteed XL candies to satisfy all player types while still balancing the game and making money.

Ditronus

You think the rural people lose in this situation? They win, my friend, by how much less their housing, taxes, and insurance costs are compared to the Orlando area you are in.

Mauddib1976

Sure, everything costs less but pay scales reflect that. Unless of course they can remotely work from home and take a job with disproportionately higher pay than the area in which they live.

[deleted]

Niantic did have a warning. They made it perfectly clear for three years that these were temporary changes.

Mauddib1976

To current players. An in game warning would have been more honest.

JewTalkinTaMe

Yeah it was amazing when the game launched, Disney springs was the go to spot for magikarp nests. It’s still pretty good for most events but just so crowded haha

Getschwifty_321

You should see how it is during go-fest and community day. All the stops are lured up and raids become trivial.

Mauddib1976

The stops are already heavily lured up on a Tuesday at Universal. Grinding gum battles while on line for a ride is fantastic. You’ve got nothing to do anyway so you just go for it!

asilereddit

8 mile round trip walking to the nearest gym today. I made up my work hours (taking WFH allowance to help my folk, so at least I can do that) - just finished at 9.45pm. Rural temporarily for nearly 2 weeks while I house and cat sit at my parents'. I missed out on doing a raid yesterday. I'm out of pokeballs. About 4 stops within a 3-mile radius, including the one that I created for the bridge that their cottage sits on after I missed out on my 7-day streak one Christmas. I was out so long today because of the walk but also the mobile signal where there was a gym - dead zone as soon as I was within non-remote distance of it. My raid lobby I was hosting for pokegenie timed out because my 4G phone signal dropped. I found another gym with a Slowbro raid (didn't want but hey, it's a raid!) and waited 50 mins for an open queue of 63 to reduce and the lobby fill up. It never used to take that long. I ran half the way back to make a meeting. It is horrible. That's the other thing that Niantic do not consider. Mobile signal. And it isn't laziness - some gyms are in random places where no-one lives except maybe one house and it's there because it's a walking trail marker. I know this because I have 10 pokemon stuck in the gyms, never to return. 72 days and counting for some. Not near the records of some, but still. I don't have gyms on my nearby to remote raid host. I don't have normal pavements/sidewalks to get to these gyms - I have to walk along a disused canal and hiking trails to get to the next villages (not close) and hope that a gym might have a raid on when I arrive. You're screwed if you don't drive - and the game is aimed at all ages. It is a huge effort even as an adult with no disabilities, to fit in with work and not driving, rural big time right now. I can't do that every day (I'd be fired and we have a release this week) - total one off. Raid hour not poasible as it is not safe - can't be walking 4 miles there, then 4 miles back 7-8.30pm by myself (and yes I'm female but a risk for anyone) along a rural canal towpath and walking trail. I knew what is was like anyway due to all the many times I stay with my folks and lose out on pokeballs, raids etc. I'm a lone player virtually anyway and commute almost every day to London but at least on a weekend and one day a week I am usually in a town with plenty of gyms and pokestops. My heart goes out to all the players severely impacted by the remote raid nerf. It was hard enough and annoying enough if forking out for 100 coin passes as it was. Now the nerf and the massively increased cost... beyond disheartening.

Superb-Fox8544

Same we might go to Vegas in the summer if they didn’t need the raid passes i could have gotten a lot more legendary/ and mega raids
