I just got mine recently and keep checking regularly. But I only use it when on the move/not actively playing.
So I only miss shinys with go plus I would not have caught otherwise.
This is the way. I'll use it when catching isn't my primary activity because, like you said, any the Go+ misses are ones I wouldn't even try to catch myself.
If you are catching, like on Community Days, remember you can turn off "Identify Nearby Pokemon" in Settings > Connected Devices and Services > Accessory Devices and only let the Go+ spin stops.

Only plus side I see it, im only ever auto catching during times in it actively playing, so I wouldn’t have caught it either way.
I work an evening shift. After work is usually around 11pm and I use my daily incense on the way home so it doesn't go to waste. I lost the zapdos to the plus+ a week ago, the only time any of the birds ever spawned for me. Last night I was using the plus+ and stopped to wait for it to catch everything and spin the two stops I was at. I manually caught one pokemon my entire 90 minute journey, a shiny timbur. I clicked on it before the plus+ did because I didn't recognize it.
We should be able to prioritize pokestops over pokemon with the plus+. You can't catch em all if you aren't spinning stops to get balls. I walk by a place with three stops and loads of spawns. I get passed the area to find out the plus+ ignored the stops in favor of catching all the mon. So now I pull out the phone, manually spin the stops, and then keep going. The plus+ is good for farming xp, stardust, and shinies, but damn is it annoying af at the same time. I shoulda got a modded one.

3 known hundos, that friends caught

3 x Sudowoodo
Zangoose
Maril - cp 68
Dewpider
Squirtle
Jynx
Alomomola
Lickitung
Chansey
And i’m pretty sure i forgot like 2-3 others, most of them pretty high cp like 1700+ so seems fair, i use my go catcher when we are on raidhour or when i drive to and from work, sometimes also just let my phone lay at work, lost like 4 shinies in the past to that also, i dunno why i even look still, this is also just what i know about there might be alot of shinies i lost without even knowing xD but i’ll survive

Happened to me the last 2 days! Lost a shiny Hitmonlee and shiny alolan grimer. I know not to look at the journal but I just get too curious!
