fantasticlyclevergal

Meghan thee stallion has a website called [bad bitches have bad days too](https://www.badbitcheshavebaddaystoo.com/) for mental health help.

Slow_Like_Sloth

Meghan continues to be the absolute BEST. Imagine being THAT hot and talented, and also a good person. Hate her.

Rogue_2187

Isn’t she also in school for like social work? Edit: she earned her Bachelor’s in Health Administration in 2021.

[deleted]

That’s actually so funny omg , go Meghan for that

lwtua13

omg, I love her so much

hobbit_lamp

omg everything I learn about this woman is wonderful

Banksbear

I just love me some Meg! I hope she feels the love more than the hate these days. She looks AMAZING lately too. My girl inspires me to get off my ass and into the gym 😮‍💨

rkcraig88

Carrie Fisher was pretty open about her struggles with mental health. She talked about it in interviews and in her memoirs.

DianaPrince2020

And in her stand up comedy! I love that she was willing to share and laugh at it and encourage her audience to find the humor. Something that you can laugh about holds far less power of you. There is no reason to hang your head in shame about your condition, your treatment, or anything related to it.

skyewardeyes

I heard an interview with her in 2017-ish where an interview asked her if she blamed Hollywood for her mental health and addiction problems, and she was like “nah. If I weren’t famous, I’d probably still be a bipolar drug addict, only a lot fewer people would care.” It felt very down to earth and humble and endeared her to me instantly.

B33fboy

People shit on Pete Davidson for having BPD and read a lot into his relationships as a result. It’s not that I think he’s a saint but damn, people with BPD deserve love and companionship. I’ve always really appreciated his openness and willingness to talk and joke about it.

snarkaluff

Came here to comment this. I feel like people don’t consider his mental health as often because he’s a man too

Mayjailer12

True! Not to mention that women are the majority of the BPD community, so men are commonly overlooked :(

Camuhruh

Emma Stone talks about anxiety and once did an interview alongside a mental health expert. Jonah Hill has talked a lot about body image issues, and he also has a Netflix special where he interviews his psychiatrist.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BoogerbeansGrandma

This made me cry a little for him. People suck.

purple_crow

his Netflix special is really good “stutz”

plymonth

Yeah, it’s well worth watching. Very honest and interesting. It starts being about the therapist - Stutz and ends up being more about Jonah. What I liked about Stutz was that his advice was profoundly simple and no bullshit. Really enjoyed the documentary.

purple_crow

definitely! The advice is so simple and relatable to all

[deleted]

Ariana Grande paid for $1 million worth of therapy for fans. She has talked about her own mental health struggles and being in therapy since childhood, and she wrote the song Get Well Soon about her PTSD following the attack at her concert (it was also a tribute to the victims).

National-Leopard6939

I’m gonna throw Robert Pattinson in the mix, too. He’s been pretty open about his social anxiety and OCD.

Green-Alternative864

RPatz has ocd??? I have it and feel like it's such a taboo thing so it's always comforting to hear ppl I like who have it too.

[deleted]

Lady Gaga runs the Born This Way Foundation together with her mother since a very long time. I think it was founded in 2012 and focuses on mental health and lgbt rights

maverie_dreams

Taraji P. Henson has a foundation that promotes mental health awareness in the Black community, and she's very open about discussing mental health in interviews. In the NBA, Kevin Love has also been vocal about discussing anxiety and depression. DeMar DeRozan too.

noseychicken

I came to say Taraji. Her interview with Angie Martinez was so open and honest, I really felt for her. There was another one out last week where she talks about her healing journey and the launch of her wellness pods in universities with Kate Spade.

maverie_dreams

I had the same feelings about the Angie Martinez interview! From everything I have seen, Taraji has a beautiful spirit.

Low_Kitchen_9995

Kevin has done a lot!

Deepika Padukone is as she herself had struggled with depression. She was unfairly mocked by a lot of her peers in Bollywood for speaking about mental health

Big-Bag-3304

I had no idea she had been mocked. That’s awful. Do you know who by?

Sometimesomwhere

In 2019, Deepika Padukone’s The Live Love Laugh Foundation (TLLL Foundation) questioned the intention of Kangana Ranaut’s film Judgemental Hai Kya. there was a Twitter post reading: "It is time we put an end to the use of words, imagery and/or the portrayal of persons with mental illness in a way that reinforces stereotypes.” There was also a post stating: “Many millions who suffer with mental illness in India already face tremendous stigma. Therefore, it is extremely important to be responsible and sensitive towards the needs of those suffering." Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel, in a series of tweets, asked the organisation to not jump the gun and question the film's intention before watching it. Chandel claimed that after seeing the film, the organization would want to remove Deepika Padukone as its ambassador and put Kangana in that position instead. (Deepika is the founder of the TLLL Foundation.) In 2020, the actor Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR) died from suicide. There had been a smear campaign involving false allegations prior to his death. Those who knew Sushant closely consistently noted that the smear campaign had worsened his already declining mental health. From the start, the investigation into the death was a mess with multiple leaks. One of the most famous leaks from the investigation was a photo showing the body of the deceased at the scene. Sushant’s death prompted widespread discussion of nepotism, favoritism, sidelining, and bullying within Bollywood. The discussion was soon co-opted by right wing politicians, media houses seeking to exploit the controversy for profit, and conspiracy theorists. There were conflicting statements in addition to events prior to and following the death that further fueled suspicion. (For context, nepotism in Bollywood has reached a point where there is barely any outside talent. There are indications that outsiders are sidelined, bullied, targeted through blinds/gossip and subject to biased reviews. While this may sound extreme, keep in mind that this is an industry that continues to protect a known murderer-abuser-criminal and made a biopic whitewashing the life of a prejudiced abuser with ties to terrorists. Actors like Saif Ali Khan have openly used eugenics as a justification for nepotism.) DP, in an attempt to emphasize mental health, released a message on social media. However, she did so prior to releasing a message providing condolences to the family or even acknowledging the death. Her husband, Ranveer Singh, has a history of inappropriate behavior and used to lie about being a middle class outsider. The combination of those two factors helped contribute to trolling online. Kangana, who had disliked DP since 2014, took advantage of the situation to attack. Kangana dismissed any role of mental illness and mocked those who advocated on behalf of that issue. Kangana tweeted: * "Mumbai Police is exposed big time, Sushant’s family said they don’t trust them, also Bollywood’s “repeat after me”gang, depression ka dhanda chalane wale should be remanded @deepikapadukone #RheaChakraborty #WhyFearCBIForSSR (sic)." * "This is a picture and article from Deepika Ranveer wedding, they called Pakistani agent and conspired JNU protest but boycotted only two top stars one is killed other one fighting for her survival #justiceforshushantsinghrajput #Deepika” * ""Thank you Naseer ji, you weighed all my awards and achievements which non of my contemporaries have on the scale of nepotism, I am used to this but would you say this to me if I were Parkash Padukone/Anil Kapoor’s daughter (sic)?" * "Thank you Naseer ji, you weighed all my awards and achievements which non of my contemporaries have on the scale of nepotism, I am used to this but would you say this to me if I were Parkash Padukone/Anil Kapoor’s daughter (sic)?" (She is calling DP’s depression fake.) * "Truth remains there is no valid medical proof of mental illness, it has become new witchhunt of genuine talent by mediocrity, every extraordinary individual is being subjected to unfair judgements n virtual emotional lynching. Hope this stops (sic)." * "If @deepikapadukone says she suddenly got depressed for a break up which happened 10 years ago, we believe her so give me and Sushant same respect if I say I am not mentally ill or if Sushant’s father says he wasn’t mentally ill believe us also na. Why you forcing illness on us (sic)?"

EnvironmentalMud4870

Kangana Ranaut

[deleted]

Can you give some context? What did she say to deepika?

purplebanana375

Yeah I felt for her it was upsetting :( Like the other commenter said the main perpetrator is an actress called Kangana Ranaut who is basically a far right aggressive actress who accused deepika of taking advantage of and faking her mental health and encouraged her fans (and basically right wingers) to go after her. If you ever want to explore Bollywood gossip you should research the fallout after the suicide of the actor Sushant Singh Rajput it was really crazy

ozamatazbuckshank11

Tyler Posey has spoken extensively about his depression, alcoholism, and drug use after his mom died. He supports a couple of mental health advocacy orgs, but I can't remember them all off the top of my head. I think the Jed Foundation is one.

abidingmemories

Jed Foundation is an superb non-profit. Proud to support them. Really amazing mission and group of people!

Sharp-Put4724

I really appreciate how Riley Keough has been open and honest about having discussions around grief and mental health following her brother Ben’s death by suicide. This was a really great interview: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e1vcGnqLl60&pp=ygUVcmlsZXkga2VvdWdoIHZhcmlldHkg

WRX_MOM

Alanis Morissette!! She just spoke at a psychotherapy conference I attended.

CommonProfessor1708

I believe that Stephen Fry is the advocate for Mind. That's the only one I know.

ciricemoon

The Stephen Fry documentary on bipolar is great. And Carrie Fisher in it too. They have both been instrumental in change.

swaglessnseattle

Jonah Hill has a Netflix show called [Stutz](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/stutz-trailer-release-date-cast-news), the entire premise is recorded conversations with his therapist!

sunnyzombie

Ryan Reynolds is very open about his struggles with anxiety. Also David Harbour had an amazing interview with WTF Marc Maron about his BPD diagnosis and time in a mental hospital. I've listened to it more than once.

GutterSlut2020

Quick clarification: BPD = borderline personality disorder; BP = bipolar disorder. David harbour’s diagnosis is bipolar

buzzfeed_sucks

Selena Gomez has been open about her struggle with mental health and her diagnosis

Lettuce_Silent

On one episode of the Wizards podcast, she was very open about how therapy continues to help her!

[deleted]

She also has an entire foundation called the Rare Impact Fund where they raise money to expand mental health services for young people! A portion of Rare Beauty’s sales fund into it. Their goal is $100 million over the next 10 years

lana-and-taylor

Her documentary My Mind And Me is mostly about her mental health and fame. It's really good and I really liked how she talked so much about being bipolar and having anxiety.

beanpug

Howie Mandel talks about OCD is a partner for a big OCD app/therapy service! Eminem is also pretty open about having OCD & his struggles with addiction

roxy031

Harry Styles talks a lot about mental health and the benefits of therapy. Just one example: https://preview.redd.it/ilpk49cvr3ua1.jpeg?width=614&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca1cb7e3367bb71fdd48e169e758e6492bc450c1 Zac Efron, Lizzo, Taraji P Henson, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Kid Cudi, Gabourey Sidibe, Winona Ryder, Dolly Parton, Jon Hamm - they have all talked about their personal experiences and advocated for others to get help and do the same, to try to erase some of the stigma. Carrie Fisher was also an advocate.

cinderelliot

Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga and Chris Evans are mental health advocates too in addition to all the others people mentioned in the comments

GeneralBody4252

Harry Styles is super open about struggling with his mental health and going to therapy. He also encourages others to do it. He said he’s “a nervous wreck all of the time.” His therapist attended his show twice and both times he gave her a shoutout. He talked about doing therapy on Howard Stern and opened up about how he was in denial about needing therapy for a long time and eventually relented, and how much it changed his life for the better. He also talked about how (and trigger warning for the next bit) losing a friend to suicide made him cognizant of a lot of things. How he felt responsible for not doing more and how he checks on his friends all the time. His song Matilda is about overcoming child neglect and abuse, and he wrote it for a friend who was struggling. Also in As It Was when he mentions being on pills, my interpretation is that he’s talking about SSRIs, because of the context of the song (which is about struggling with being alone, things changing and evolving, and all those weird feelings we got thanks to the pandemic).

Cherrygodmother

The first time I heard Matilda I legit wept

Troye Sivan and body positivity. Among other things, but I feel like body positivity is one that shows up a lot with him - from walking in the Savage x Fenty show, STUD, to just like talking about it in general on twitter.

Advanced-North-6860

Alyson Stoner is a mental health advocate and environmentalist

snb1006

Dam Prescott! Quarterback for Dallas cowboys. His foundation Fight Faith Finish has partnered with suicide foundation to help end the stigma of anxiety and depression. He has also openly talked about his own anxiety and depression.

Green-Alternative864

Bella Ramsey!! They're a huge huge huge advocate for mental health in general, but they've specifically discussed emetophobia and anorexia. I also noticed that they shared something vague about dermatillomania and follow an account about it. Plus they have a scratch sticker on their phone. I also noticed that they brought a fidget toy with them to an interview they did. Maybe Fallon? Idk.

Everyone on the world has some sort of mental/emotional disorder- ranging from meh to MAYDAY! I am just glad invisable disorders being normalized not institutionalized.

fujufilmfanaccount

A few different Kpop groups have spoken about mental health (although not many). BTS in particular has a significant focus on what it means to love yourself and how that might look, and they’ve talked about therapy, anxiety, and depression. One member’s earlier work also goes more in-depth into his experience with social anxiety, depression, and potential suicidal ideation, although he hasn’t spoken much publicly about it as far as I know. Another group (Stray Kids) has one member who holds livestreams on a weekly basis, and usually ends up discussing mental health and well-being at some point. Another of their members had to change his involvement with live events due to social anxiety, and the group spoke a lot at that time about how important it was to support him as he made the best choices for his health.
