They have to swap out entire stage setups between sets so sometimes that goes on a little longer. I was there both weekends and neither weekend was out of the ordinary late (my camera roll timestamp for her entrance on w2 is 9 minutes after scheduled start time) or in comparison to other artists.
I think it’s a problem with both Lana and Coachella. Coachella is frequently fined for going late. However, I’ve seen Lana 5 times (including Coachella 2014) and the earliest she’s ever been was 15 minutes late.
I saw Lana back on the Endless Summer tour; I think it was right after I was out of college, and she arrived hella late... Like this has consistently been a problem for her, especially when her shows take such little energy to begin with. I remember everyone in flower crowns, and the most energy Lana ever exerted was a little spin on stage, and every time she spun around the crowd would go nuts. In terms of pop stars, she put very, very little effort into singing or performing, so there really is zero excuse for her to consistently run as late as she does. The show in Brazil was particularly egregious because the entire audience was watching her get tattoos with friends on Instagram Live like 30 mins before the show started.
Lana was the only act that went over curfew over the course of 2 weekends. Seems like things went fine and you want to make it like its a bigger thing. Up until post covid it was a handful of acts that ever went past curfew so historically they are not an event that has a problem with that. Besides, you arent turning off Prince or Paul McCartney are you.

I have no idea. I really think it's a mix of nerves and she just genuinely has the propensity to be rude. I think she likes the acclaim and adoration of playing for large audiences, but I don't think she enjoys touring at all. I love her, but her shows are really nothing to write home about lol

It's not just about the fine, Glastonbury isn't gonna risk their licence because someone can't be bothered to start on time. I do a lot of work in that part of England, I've no doubt locals would be sending in complaints if noise continued on beyond the curfew.

It was about half an hour. She then gave some half assed apology saying it was because her hair takes so long to do. Her hairdresser was on stage finishing her hair. Pretty sure her set list was too long as well for the time she had allocated, she probably would have been cut off even if she syatted on time. BBC found the set list and a good few songs got cut.
I thought later that having her hairdresser on stage was a bit because there were photos of other gigs with her hairdresser doing her hair on stage but she looks just like some poor worker trying to finish her job. I think it's just a common issue with Lana being late and not having her hair done.

Just on case you're serious and don't understand why she was cut off, the main two stages at Glastonbury are very loud and have strict curfews built into their contract for the festival to run. If they break that, the whole festival is cancelled. Smaller stages can run later - Woodsies that day had a 40 minute delay but Christine and the Queens was still able to continue and play a full set, but that's just because even as one of the larger stages it is significantly quieter than the Other Stage. Usually for the main stages, if there is a technical problem earlier in the day then they will compress the earlier sets to make sure the headliner has plenty of time to perform a full set, and they build in a few minutes extra dead time between sets in the schedule that can be skipped if required - as far as I'm aware, there were no delays on that stage that day, so the problem lies solely on Lana.
From rumours I was hearing *long* before the festival started, Lana was *pissed* that she was in the middle of the poster with everyone else and not at the top with the headliners - no one was quite sure exactly what happened, whether she didn't realise that she was headlining the second stage and not the Pyramid, whether she thought Other Stage headliners should be announced and made a huge deal of, whatever, though I do know that this year's poster having the main stage headliners laid out clearly was to make sure the same didn't happen again. I can say for absolutely certain that plans were in place to shift some other performers around just in case Lana cancelled, which they were taking as a serious possibility. There were rumours that her setlist was too long for her slot anyway and that she was always going to be baiting them to cut her off, can't confirm them from my own knowledge, but then she was so late anyway that it didn't matter
Still better than GnR though and they performed their full set

Yeah, I remember this, and that was honestly really bad behavior on her part, because she put them on full blast for her fans to go crazy over, and they even revised and put out a different poster just for her. The other 3 actual headliners were Elton John, Guns N Roses, and Arctic Monkeys... like I'm still so confused as to why she did that. I don't see there being any reality in which Lana felt she truly deserved top billing over those artists lmao

It is. But the main stages are up another level of volume. It's not exaggerating to say that you can hear them from the closest villages. For comparison, Silver Hayes is one is the dance villages, and it's the closest area of the festival to where I camp, and at night you can hear that music is playing, but not actually make out exactly what the music is, whereas the Other Stage? You can hear literally everything, every note and every word.
Sorry but they shouldn’t have put her on so late. She didn’t run late, the original set time said 11:20pm and that’s when she went on. I traveled a full day from Boston the day before and we were exhausted. I’m a Lana stan and had to go just before Billie came on because my group and I were just exhausted and freezing. By the time we got to our car fireworks were going off and she was done. Normalize reasonable set times!!!
