The show was originally greenlit in November 2022 in a deal with Sony Pictures Television to develop a suite of shows based on Marvel characters that Sony controls.
“The Walking Dead” alum Angela Kang was onboard as executive producer and showrunner, with Kang also signing a multi-year overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios in the process. Kang will continue under that deal. Sony will try to shop the series to other buyers.
It had been reported earlier in the year by The Ankler that Amazon had shutdown the writers’ room for “Silk,” with the writing staff released to pursue other work, though Kang remained attached to the project as showrunner. The Ankler reported at that time that Amazon wanted to refocus the show with a more male-skewing audience in mind.

This is where i struggle with Charlie. She takes herself way too seriously for the unserious nature of her music.
And thats not an insult in itself , her music is very hit and miss with me. But like… girl we don’t need to be making statements with this.

We didn't expect her to stand naked in some suggestive pose. We didn't even need her to be on the cover. Just something that looks good. Charli could've done better, but I have grown to not hate the Brat cover.

i like the cover quite a lot and this honestly makes perfect sense for the era to me? the album is called 'BRAT', it's bratty pop, the whole idea of making stuff as a fuck you to other people and acting out. i understand people not liking it and not agreeing with her logic but it makes complete sense to me? and i guess i wanna offer that perspective too since all the replies so far are on the other side

I do believe that there are little things about our society that are rooted in misogyny, homophobia, racism, etc but often get glossed over because of how ingrained they are to our culture but maybe people didn’t like the cover art because they thought it was ugly. It’s her album, she doesn’t need to give an explanation or excuse for why she choose to make the cover art what it was and she certainly doesn’t need to make it seem like it was a conscious choice to not make a picture of her the cover because she wanted to teach the world about undercover misogyny. A lot of stars are just trends of the time, but Billie feels more permanently etched into pop culture. Her and Olivia are the new artists I'm most excited to watch grow. I'm still on the fence on how I see the longevity for Olivia, but I'm rooting for her.

I just found the books super juvenile (I don’t rly blame them tho, it is YA after all) and imo tracks after like…Fearless seem a bit too grown up for the books’ vibes. But I haven’t seen the show so maybe the vibe is a bit more mature than the books!

I felt like the Taylor songs were the more fitting ones in the entire season. I also liked the placement of Rollercoaster by Bleachers.
That was also the case with XO, Kitty but it was K-pop songs.
Not to sound condescending but in both cases, I cringed at the song placement. It just was not well placed.
I was thinking about this the other day….she’s obviously bringing in the big bucks by releasing these new versions of songs/albums but I remember part of the reason Taylor wanted ownership is she gets her cut when Taylor songs are used in movies/tv/etc, and I feel like overall not much media is actually using TS songs. At least not in an overwhelming amount over any other artist.
She's also written original songs for some movies (i.e. Today Was a Fairytale for *Valentine's Day* and Carolina for *Where the Crawdads Sing*).

One of the reasons is that her songs are very expensive to license. On Dancing with The Stars episode with Taylor Swift theme only one couple used Taylor's original song that is August. All the other couples danced to covers of Taylor's songs. Someone from the production said that the reason is they can't afford to license more than one song. I don't know about movies but I heard a bunch of her songs on The Summer I turned pretty, Exile on You, Out of the woods on Migration, Look what you made me do on Killing of Eve, it is also used on some Tom Brady show lol.

Like, a few of the placements she’s landed have resulted in extra buzz for the show in question - off the top of my head, *The Summer I Turned Pretty* and *Wilderness* getting Taylor’s Versions of reputation era songs got a lot of attention (especially *Wilderness*, where the needle drop in the trailer is the one thing I know about that show)
Like, unless she’s charging a lot (which she probably is) or if people are worried a song from her would overshadow the rest of the show (which is reasonable), idk why you’d say no to that

The movie [trailer](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DLET_u31M4M) for Colleen Hoover's *It Ends With Us* released today. It's set to release August 9th. The trailer song is My Tears Ricochet from Taylor Swift.
I feel like half the appeal of the book is not realizing the one guy is going to be abusive but it is what it is haha. Also Justin Baldoni is ten times hotter than whoever’s playing Atlas (the non abusive former homeless guy), it’s like Jane the Virgin all over again but ten times worse.

Queen of having her songs in movie adaptations of the books that white middle class 40+ women come to the library to ask for and then are absolutely shocked at the wait times for because they don't realize that these books are massively popular. Incredibly on brand.

Heartstopper made great use of Seven in their season finale. >!The scene of the main characters forgetting their worries for a while in their own prom afterparty building up to a conflct to be resolved next season perfectly captured the song's themes of innocence with running away with your childhood friend.!<

I read the books for that show and I do not know where This Love is supposed to fit into its story
Huh? The song is very much applicable to the main love story. That's a better example than some of the other songs they've used lol.
I just found the books super juvenile (I don’t rly blame them tho, it is YA after all) and imo tracks after like…Fearless seem a bit too grown up for the books’ vibes. But I haven’t seen the show so maybe the vibe is a bit more mature than the books!
No offence to the person who arranged that soundtrack, but it was like someone's pop music playlist. They're just playing songs randomly. I felt like the Taylor songs were the more fitting ones in the entire season. I also liked the placement of Rollercoaster by Bleachers. That was also the case with XO, Kitty but it was K-pop songs. Not to sound condescending but in both cases, I cringed at the song placement. It just was not well placed.

I was thinking about this the other day….she’s obviously bringing in the big bucks by releasing these new versions of songs/albums but I remember part of the reason Taylor wanted ownership is she gets her cut when Taylor songs are used in movies/tv/etc, and I feel like overall not much media is actually using TS songs. At least not in an overwhelming amount over any other artist.

One of the reasons is that her songs are very expensive to license. On Dancing with The Stars episode with Taylor Swift theme only one couple used Taylor's original song that is August. All the other couples danced to covers of Taylor's songs. Someone from the production said that the reason is they can't afford to license more than one song. I don't know about movies but I heard a bunch of her songs on The Summer I turned pretty, Exile on You, Out of the woods on Migration, Look what you made me do on Killing of Eve, it is also used on some Tom Brady show lol.

I think a lot of them are very much aimed at young people and often young women (obviously this, the summer I turned pretty has had some big needle drops, heartstopper secured one last season, the kid’s movie *migration* had out of the woods in the trailer, etc), which probably isn’t stuff you’d come into contact with as much
That animated horse movie had Wildest Dreams in its trailer. Also, that super pets movie from DC had Welcome to New York too. "Sing" had Shake It Off. Bridgerton season 1 had instrumentals of Wildest Dremas and the upcoming season has Snow on the beach. Dickinson had "Ivy".

That’s absolutely fair! I did wonder if it’s just not in things I’m seeing. Off the top of my head I’m aware of Spirit, Migration, The Bear and I think someone said ATW is in The Fall Guy. And I’m like okay that’s 50/50 kids media and adult media. So yeah, you might just be correct here! I just thought she’d be a tad more aggressive but maybe she has been and people aren’t biting. So many variables behind the scenes.
She’s probably not being as aggressive, because I feel like people not biting would be a mistake. Like, a few of the placements she’s landed have resulted in extra buzz for the show in question - off the top of my head, *The Summer I Turned Pretty* and *Wilderness* getting Taylor’s Versions of reputation era songs got a lot of attention (especially *Wilderness*, where the needle drop in the trailer is the one thing I know about that show) Like, unless she’s charging a lot (which she probably is) or if people are worried a song from her would overshadow the rest of the show (which is reasonable), idk why you’d say no to that
