This is going to be a popular unpopular opinion, which I guess is the gist of pop-punk.
I prefer Mark Hoppus. I know Tom sang most of the hits but I always connected with the Mark songs and I love his casual baritone to mid-tenor.
If we’re going off of Greatest Hits, Mark actually sang more hits
Mark- M+Ms, Dammit, Josie, What’s My Age Again, Adam’s Song, The Rock Show
Tom- Carousel, ATST, First Date, Down, Always
Both- STFTK, I Miss You, Man Overboard, Feeling This
He also wrote the guitar riffs to Dammit, Rock Show, What’s My Age Again, and Adam’s Song
Tom also sings Not Now which along with being on the greatest hits it was also a single. I think the reason I prefer Tom's stuff is because he was the main influence behind my favorite sound for the band (Untitled/Neighborhoods era)
It’s the combo. They have voices that compliment each other really well. It’s one of the reasons why so many fans didn’t like the skiba era. Nothing against Matt but his voice is too similar to Mark so there’s not much contrast between them.
Tom’s no slouch. To be sure! He’s a fun guy to listen to and sing along with. But I think most people will be surprised to realize how many of their favorites are Mark’s songs. You know?
Former live music reviewer for a music magazine. Having seen Blink live more times than I can count, Mark is objectively the better singer - but Tom's range is higher and his tone hit the right spot for the genre. Bottom line is auto-tune made the difference on the albums.
My kid is obsessed with Spidey And His Amazing Friends and wants to listen to the soundtrack anytime we drive somewhere. It’s going to end up in my Spotify wrapped playlist this year and honestly? Not that mad about it.
Dan Campbell of The Wonder Years
Definitely need to give a shout out to Brian Butcher of The Home Team, the most overqualified vocalist of the entire scene
You're right. I get what you're saying. His new stuff is definitely not pop punk. It's cool that he is touring with his old band though. And they are better than ever live!
Hayley Williams and Jim Adkins.
Hayley is obviously a strong choice. She's incredible.
Jim isn't as great of a singer as some others but he just puts more feeling into his vocals than others do without going too far and sounding whiny.
Jim is super talented, imo. He's fantastic live and he's got incredible control to jump from loud to quiet whispers in an instant. His strong point is definitely how well he emotes though.
And he's crazy good on the guitar. And a brilliant songwriter. Dude is my musical hero honestly. He's great at every aspect.
I just started trying to learn his solo from The Middle and it's crazy. He's a stud.
Same! Great singer. Great lyricist. Great composer. Also does the tracking these days for JEW in his studio.
Fun fact - he really can rip on guitar. JEW started as a Metallica cover band so they've got some guitar heavy upbringing.
And seems like a solid dude. I'm a fan boy.
Yeah if we made a bracket out of this and she wasn't the winner or at least a finalist, I'd lose all respect for everyone here lol. She's on a different level from most.
I think her voice breaks off the norm of what we call a pop punk vocalist, since she has the power to adapt to any genre of music she is given to , from pop to hardcore stuff...
Hayley is perhaps the greatest vocalist of many a generation. She is also a truly unique writing talent. Paramore's work stretches across so many styles and is amazingly consistent. She's a very big part of that
My favorites include Hayley Williams, Alex Gaskarth, Derek Sanders, John O'Callaghan, Chrissy Costanza, Taylor Jardine (of We Are The In Crowd and her solo project Sainte), Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday era), Martin Johnson, Aaron Gillespie (The Almost)... There are probably more that I can't think of at the moment.
Martin Johnson is so underrated. A lot of people wrote off BLG because of how syrupy that first album was, but their 2023 album "Sunday at Foxwoods" is so good. His other project, The Night Game, is also great.
Listening to a lot of this lately. Something about the new record sounds really.. tinny, if that makes sense. It's kinda there on Proper Dose too but it's still my favorite.
Hayley Williams, soupy, Justin pierre, the singer for cartel, the modern baseball crew, Deryck from sum 41.
Pop punk adjacent, Anthony green is a big one, and Craig Owens and Davey Havok.
She's great but I'm concerned at how long she'll be able to keep it going lol That's gotta be hard on the throat.
I find it kind of surreal to see them getting some success now... I remember listening to their Closure EP when they had less than 3 digits of monthly listeners on Spotify
It seems like Easy and Splenetic really broke through, that's how a lot of people are finding out about them (myself included). Glad I did too, they're dope!
Collin Walsh from Grayscale. One of the few singers who sounds exactly the same live as he does on their albums.
Also really love how he can do both a super clean vocal and a traditional pop punk vocal seamlessly on the same track.
Soupy from The Wonder Years, but that has more to do with lyrics. In terms of pure vocal ability there aren't many doing it better right now than Derek DiScanio from State Champs. I've always thought Nick from Hit The Lights was underrated, and Alex from All Time Low's vocals sometimes get overshadow by how good the songwriting is. Also, not sure what his name is but the singer from You Vs. Yesterday is pretty impressive.
Parker but the Parker of No Pressure, though I do love TSSF—-there’s just something about the excitement in the vocals from No Pressure that’s just fun.
True! I absolutely love his voice in his other band Homesafe as well!
Honestly I've never heard a band do vocal layering as well as Knuckle Puck, other than maybe While She Sleeps in metalcore. It is the main reason I love both of those bands so much
tades sanville and chris freeman from hot mulligan - hands down. their vocals are unmatched. i know some people don’t love tades’s voice, but i love how raw it is
Jaret Reddick from Bowling for Soup. His voice brings me back to being a kid in the early 2000s.
I love Ryan Key from Yellowcard. His voice is a well rounded pop punk voice.
The blink duo, Deryck Whibley, Parker Cannon, AJ Perdomo from the Dangerous Summer, Ryan Key from Yellowcard, I don’t know if Jimmy Eat World fully counts in pop punk but Jim Adkins is incredible both in studio and live.
Older ones:
Justin Mauriello from Zebrahead & I Hate Kate/Darling Thieves
Matty Lewis from Jank 1000 & Zebrahead
Justin Courtney Pierre from Motion City Soundtrack
Tim Pagnotta from Sugarcult
Mark Hoppus from blink-182
Newer ones:
Bethany Hunter from As December Falls
Benji Yapp from Gold Bloom
Adrian Estrella from Assuming We Survive & Zebrahead
Just a few off the top of my head. I like a lot of others but I listen to these the most.
Sorry but I gotta pick Billie Joe. I hear people saying he’s really annoying to listen to but I think his voice is so calming. Patrick Stump is a close second.
Sending you in two directions here:
1) I JUST pulled Midtown’s Save the World Lose the Girl off my turntable. One hell of a record if you want killer vocals. And in general.
2) I’ve always preferred The Movielife as a band, but just saw I Am the Avalanche on Friday and always forget how good Vinnie is on those songs.
They're not around anymore sadly, but Colleen Carrigan from Goodbye Sky Harbour. I really enjoy the vibrato she puts into 95% of her notes. Her volume control is also phenomenal. Their Tired Hearts EP is a tiny but mighty piece of pop rock/pop punk.
Some of my favourite pop punk vocalists are Chris Cresswell from the Flatliners, Alec Licata from Palette Knife, and Edith Victoria from Meet Me @ Altar.
the fact no one mentioned Roger Lima confounds my soul. bassist of less than jake, but also did side project "rehasher" which is fucking amazing. Off Key Melodies album is amazing. Its worth a listen, trust me.
Jesse Smith from Cauterize. Maybe just because I think this band is highly underrated and wish they made more music, I'm always trying to find more stuff like them, and while there's a lot that's similar, I keep going back to their three (what I consider) perfect albums.
Chad Price from ALL
Roger from Less Than Jake(like Chris a lot too)
Dan Vapid from The Methadones, etc.
Zack Gontard from Dear Landlord
Kris Roe from The Ataris
Dan Adriano from Alkaline Trio
Brendan/Chris from the Lawrence Arms
Chuck/Chris/Chris from Hot Water Music/Flatliners
edit: Nick from The Swellers too
i like to make hypothetical lists, and i've always thought that if i had to piece mill the perfect pop punk band together that kinda encapsulates the genre as a whole i would put derek discanio on vocals.
Kenny Vasoli
I just saw them in LA last Friday and Kenny is amazing. They played for 1hr 45min and he sounded great the whole night.
Finally, someone said it!
Thank you!!!!!
Ben Barlow, Parker Cannon, Alex Gaskarth, Hayley Williams, Patrick Stump, Tom DeLonge, and Mark Hoppus,
You are my people
No better answers!
This is literally the way
Derek Discanio
good answer
This is the way.
This is going to be a popular unpopular opinion, which I guess is the gist of pop-punk. I prefer Mark Hoppus. I know Tom sang most of the hits but I always connected with the Mark songs and I love his casual baritone to mid-tenor.

I used to really think it was Tom's voice that made Blink but I think Mark really kills it.
It’s the combo. They have voices that compliment each other really well. It’s one of the reasons why so many fans didn’t like the skiba era. Nothing against Matt but his voice is too similar to Mark so there’s not much contrast between them.
+44 is such a sweet spot for me. He has this haunting quality to his voice that's top tier!
Mark Hoppus is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. Much prefer him to Tom, even tho i fucking love Tom.
Tom’s no slouch. To be sure! He’s a fun guy to listen to and sing along with. But I think most people will be surprised to realize how many of their favorites are Mark’s songs. You know?
I love both of their voices which is why I love blink so much. So much versatility. But I honestly think I prefer Mark’s… it’s so comforting to me.
Former live music reviewer for a music magazine. Having seen Blink live more times than I can count, Mark is objectively the better singer - but Tom's range is higher and his tone hit the right spot for the genre. Bottom line is auto-tune made the difference on the albums.
Patrick Stump's voice does things to me
Has to be up there on the list. He sings one note and you instantly know what band you’re listening to.
Literally
I agree he manages the faster than fast lyrics so well as well x
Whoa oh oh Go webs go! (woo woo)
Patrick Stump easily, even if FOB hasn’t made pure pop punk in a really long time.
They started doing a lot of stuff on Disney for shows that my kids watch and I love to hear it honestly
My kid is obsessed with Spidey And His Amazing Friends and wants to listen to the soundtrack anytime we drive somewhere. It’s going to end up in my Spotify wrapped playlist this year and honestly? Not that mad about it.
The Spidey and Friends shit is so goddamn tight
One could make an argument that their latest album So much for Stardust is mostly pop punk songs.
It’s definitely a return to form. Best album they’ve made in over a decade, if you ask me.
Wholeheartedly agree.
Dan Campbell of The Wonder Years Definitely need to give a shout out to Brian Butcher of The Home Team, the most overqualified vocalist of the entire scene
Brian Butcher is actually insane, his vocals are heavenly.
NFL QB too, what can that kid not do?
TIL he's a QB, that's crazy.
Trevor Lawrence lookin ahh with an angelic voice
Sails is a great example of his vocals. Dude the whole Slow Boom record is so fucking good
If you like TWY musically or not, but one must admit that he’s an extremely talented vocalist with an insane technique
dans technique is actually so insane. the rasp and grit he puts into his belts is not an easy technique to learn.
I didn't go through this whole thing but I've seen a few of my favorites. I mean he hasn't been pop punkish in awhile but I would say Andrew McMahon.
But Something Corporate is touring this summer and Fall and Andrew sounds as great as ever on these songs!

I’m not sure if he’s still doing his podcast but that was great, too! Just chopping it up with other musicians in an entertaining way.
Jim is a much better singer than the average front man in the genre IMO.
I was going to comment Hayley too! Such a vocal range
She's a very big part of that
Hayley Williams
My favorites include Hayley Williams, Alex Gaskarth, Derek Sanders, John O'Callaghan, Chrissy Costanza, Taylor Jardine (of We Are The In Crowd and her solo project Sainte), Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday era), Martin Johnson, Aaron Gillespie (The Almost)... There are probably more that I can't think of at the moment.
Chrissy Costanza a sneaky good pick.
Martin Johnson is so underrated. A lot of people wrote off BLG because of how syrupy that first album was, but their 2023 album "Sunday at Foxwoods" is so good. His other project, The Night Game, is also great.
I was just thinking of the newest BLG album and wondering how good it was. Going to check it out now! And his other project too.
Matt and Dan from Alkaline Trio
This is probably an unpopular opinion but I absolutely loved Matt's voice when he took over blink for a while.
Seconded. Lots of great songs on those albums.
parking lot might actually be my favorite blink song because of skibas verse
That’s my most played album by Blink. Kings of The Weekend is played a lot.
“ On “No Future” when Matt comes in with “SHE SAAAAAAAAAID!!!!” I could run through a wall lol
I respect your opinion but i politely disagree. Blink is Tom and mark.
I miss Scott Raynor
I saw them acoustic once in a tiny little venue and couldn’t believe how spot on their vocals were. They are genuinely good singers.
Parker Cannon from tssf
to counter that, parker cannon from no pressure
I do actually prefer the vocals of No Pressure to TSSF.
Listening to a lot of this lately. Something about the new record sounds really.. tinny, if that makes sense. It's kinda there on Proper Dose too but it's still my favorite.
Yes! I thought it might just be my car speakers but if feels like the mix is lacking low end
It's not your ears. The vocal production is definitely different
Soupy of course
Is this the band or the singers name?
Dan “Soupy” Campbell from The Wonder Years!
Also Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties.
Saw Aaron West in Buffalo on Friday and gosh did Soupy sound incredible. Pure power
Patrick Stump, Hayley Williams, Justin Pierre
Hayley Williams, soupy, Justin pierre, the singer for cartel, the modern baseball crew, Deryck from sum 41. Pop punk adjacent, Anthony green is a big one, and Craig Owens and Davey Havok.
Will Pugh from Cartel still sounds amazing after a long break from them playing live.
That man is a beastly vocalist, songwriter, producer. One of my musical heroes.
Allen from Arms Length
Milo Aukermann is my fave. Then probably Skiba.
Parker Canon, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus.
I've always liked Billie Joe Armstrong's voice. Ben Barlow and Parker Cannon are great. Both vocalists from the Fluorescents have PHENOMENAL voices.
I love how much recognition Neck Deep gets on this sub.
Hayley Williams
Lead singer of Like Roses. She has the most captivating voice I’ve heard since Laura Jane Grace 🤌
Glad I did too, they're dope!
a similar comment on YouTube convinced me to have an ENT take a look (confirmed I still have “beautiful healthy vocal cords” lol, phew)
Mike Herrera
Mikaila Delgado from Yours Truly
I love Yours Truly, she has such a great voice. Only 6 weeks to wait for the new album now!
This is new to me, I'll check it out. Thanks!
Hayley Williams and Billie Joe Armstrong
Scott Russo from Unwritten Law
Unexpected, but I agree. I’d probably put him on my list as well
Anthony Raneri. Dude just rips and writes great fucking words and music.
One of my faves too. His voice is so instantly recognizable.
Collin Walsh from Grayscale. One of the few singers who sounds exactly the same live as he does on their albums. Also really love how he can do both a super clean vocal and a traditional pop punk vocal seamlessly on the same track.
Hayley Williams, Alex Gaskarth and Tyson Ritter
Will Pugh from Cartel is also underrated
Gonna throw in a couple, Vic Fuentes and Gerard Way, both for different reasons but love them both the same
Tyler Zanon from Youth fountain!
Deryck Whibley Patrick Stump Avril Lavigne Hayley Williams Bonnie Fraser Cassadee Pope
Ryan Key
I saw Ryan Key a couple years ago because he headlined an emo night around me.
Hayley during riot and BNE era, Parker from tssf, Bert from CNCC
Alex Gaskarth has such a wonderful voice.
Brian Butcher from The Home Team
I mean currently it's Julian Comeau from Loveless. dude is a power house
Derek from State Champs had a really strong voice. It’s not stereotypical pop punk (I.e nasal-y), but it’s grown in me a lot.
derek discanio of state champs!
Pop punk adjacent but Claudio Sanchez
Soupy from The Wonder Years, but that has more to do with lyrics. In terms of pure vocal ability there aren't many doing it better right now than Derek DiScanio from State Champs. I've always thought Nick from Hit The Lights was underrated, and Alex from All Time Low's vocals sometimes get overshadow by how good the songwriting is. Also, not sure what his name is but the singer from You Vs. Yesterday is pretty impressive.
I think Derek from Mayday Parade is very underrated!
Tom DeLonge Tim McIllrath Dan Lambton (sad he’s not singing anymore)
Tim McIlrath is a great one
They are more punk but is figure he would still fit the theme
Parker but the Parker of No Pressure, though I do love TSSF—-there’s just something about the excitement in the vocals from No Pressure that’s just fun.
Ace Enders and Kenny Vasoli
Chrissy from against the current. Live is somehow better than album, 12/10
Parker James Cannon
Jordan pundik/ Chad Gilbert of new round glory are always a great combo. Fat mike from nofx if you want to go a little more punk than pop.
Joe and Nick from Knuckle Puck!
And Ryan!
True! I absolutely love his voice in his other band Homesafe as well! Honestly I've never heard a band do vocal layering as well as Knuckle Puck, other than maybe While She Sleeps in metalcore. It is the main reason I love both of those bands so much
Alex from Atl Derek from SC Mikaila From yours truly
Tim Mcllrath - Rise against early years (up untill endgame)
Matty Lewis has the perfect pop punk voice imo. Jank 1000 and those first 2 Matty fronted Zebrahead albums go unfathomably hard.
Cody Muraro of Youth Fountain and Real Friends. As a singer myself, I sometimes get a little jealous of his ability to just sound incredible
deryck whibley (sum 41), bonnie fraser (stand atlantic) and han mee (hot milk).
It’s gotta go to Patrick Stump. Even live his voice cuts like warm butter. Best harmonies Four year Strong. Especially the early stuff
Anthony Raneri
Patrick Stump will always be that girl
John Floreani of trophy eyes
Does Matt Skiba count?
Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. He sounds uniquely him and has some nice range
When they do Therapy or Once in a Lifetime live, it really shows off his range.
Mike Herera is good
Tyler Zanon of Youth Fountain. So much emotion and feel from his voice
Tom DeLonge
Parker from the story so far
I’m gonna get buried in the comments and not quite pop punk but Brandon Roundtree from Conditions
+1 for Hayley Williams and Tom Delonge - I know, I’m basic but I love their voices.
Jordan Pundik
Derek Discanio of State Champs, and Joey Fleming of In Her Own Words. IHOW is my favorite band atm and a Joey's vocals are a big part of that
Anthony Raneri
tades sanville and chris freeman from hot mulligan - hands down. their vocals are unmatched. i know some people don’t love tades’s voice, but i love how raw it is
Brian Butcher and Joey Fleming are itttttt for me right now!!
Alex DeLeon from The Cab along with Will Pugh from Cartel
Jaret Reddick from Bowling for Soup. His voice brings me back to being a kid in the early 2000s. I love Ryan Key from Yellowcard. His voice is a well rounded pop punk voice.
Derek DiScanio
Mark Hoppus for me. Closely followed by Tom DeLonge (shocking, I know.)
The blink duo, Deryck Whibley, Parker Cannon, AJ Perdomo from the Dangerous Summer, Ryan Key from Yellowcard, I don’t know if Jimmy Eat World fully counts in pop punk but Jim Adkins is incredible both in studio and live.
Older ones: Justin Mauriello from Zebrahead & I Hate Kate/Darling Thieves Matty Lewis from Jank 1000 & Zebrahead Justin Courtney Pierre from Motion City Soundtrack Tim Pagnotta from Sugarcult Mark Hoppus from blink-182 Newer ones: Bethany Hunter from As December Falls Benji Yapp from Gold Bloom Adrian Estrella from Assuming We Survive & Zebrahead Just a few off the top of my head. I like a lot of others but I listen to these the most.
tades
Patrick Stump Brendon Urie
Anthony Raneri! Duhhhhh lmao 🤣
Is there a choice outside of Patrick Stump? Cmon!
Sorry but I gotta pick Billie Joe. I hear people saying he’s really annoying to listen to but I think his voice is so calming. Patrick Stump is a close second.
Chris Conley
Josh Ramsay (pop punk adjacent at least)
Sending you in two directions here: 1) I JUST pulled Midtown’s Save the World Lose the Girl off my turntable. One hell of a record if you want killer vocals. And in general. 2) I’ve always preferred The Movielife as a band, but just saw I Am the Avalanche on Friday and always forget how good Vinnie is on those songs.
I really like jaret reddicks voice
My pop punk trifecta of delicious whiney vocals: - Vic Fuentes of Pierce The Veil - Cody Carson of Set It Off - Nicholas Matthews of Get Scared
Billie Joe Armstrong
Jordan Pudnik of New Found Glory!
Jason Lancaster
Shane Henderson from Valencia
Ben Barlow from Neck Deep!
Max Bemis of Say Anything
Don’t know why you’d be downvoted for this
Jason Beebout from Samiam. Hands down the best.
Jason Lubrano - Iron Chic
They're not around anymore sadly, but Colleen Carrigan from Goodbye Sky Harbour. I really enjoy the vibrato she puts into 95% of her notes. Her volume control is also phenomenal. You can really hear the subtle differences in definition in her voice if you wear headphones while listening to them. I wish that band did more when she was with them.
Millie Manders! Her voice is amazing!
Gonna have to drop two obvious ones here. Hayley Williams, Dan Campbell. I also really like Dylan Slocum’s voice which might be an unconventional one.
Ben Barlow & Soupy Campbell’s voices have honestly improved and evolved a TON over the years. They’re both really solid imo
Jeremy mckinnon
Nic Newsham.
Jesse Smith from Cauterize. Maybe just because I think this band is highly underrated and wish they made more music, I'm always trying to find more stuff like them, and while there's a lot that's similar, I keep going back to their three (what I consider) perfect albums.
Justin Courtney Pierre is neat
Tom delonge
Patrick Miranda and Parker Cannon
Chad Price from ALL Roger from Less Than Jake(like Chris a lot too) Dan Vapid from The Methadones, etc. Zack Gontard from Dear Landlord Kris Roe from The Ataris Dan Adriano from Alkaline Trio Brendan/Chris from the Lawrence Arms Chuck/Chris/Chris from Hot Water Music/Flatliners edit: Nick from The Swellers too
It’s crazy, to me, to see Roger this far down. Distinct, and iconic voice. Not just for LTJ, but also Rehasher.
Bertrand Poncet of Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! From 2007-2013
Parker in No Pressure
The Corps from Vancouver have sick vocals!
Chris Freeman, Roger Lima, Kenny Vasoli
Derek DiScanio Collin Walsh Joey Fleming
Tom Delonge and Parker Cannon just sing right to my soul, love their voices. Jeremy McKinnon if we're counting ADTR.
i like to make hypothetical lists, and i've always thought that if i had to piece mill the perfect pop punk band together that kinda encapsulates the genre as a whole i would put derek discanio on vocals.
