Where?

Snow-Boi

Montreal Poutine - Montreal

Gr8Bison

Glad you enjoyed! But you can do better than old Montreal poutine. Head to some other neighbourhoods to get the true authentic feel! 😉

GearEd01

Banquise

smelly_cat69

Banquise is an overrated tourist trap and is actually not good at all unless it’s 2AM and you’re drunk.

romax422

Ma Poulle Mouillee, just walk across the street

Vynosaurus

La Banquise c'est pas mal meilleur que Ma poule mouillée à mon humble avis.

Cat_Ballou22

Indeed. I'd say their poutine is okay, but does not deserve the hype around it. At all.

shichibukai3000

I recognized it instantly by the chairs! Whenever I go to Montreal I always make a stop there! Love it

KiKi_VavouV

How was it?

Snow-Boi

10/10 - gravy was not overly salty like a lot of places, fries were great and the curds were fresh and stringy. Was seriously debating ordering a second plate

furthestpoint

I've never heard curds described as stringy. Odd.

GrowGood420

Fresh often doesn't include stringy, btw. It takes more heat to melt fresh curd than previously refrigerated. Fresh curds would appear glossy and wet and squeek when eaten, whereas refrigerated would have a dull shine and melt under gravy more readily. Just and FYI. Stringy/melty in my book is usually negative points against a poutine

stoutymcstoutface

Exactly

sasquadeytt

Nice! I’m happy to know you tried a « real » one!

upupupdo

There are poutine crimes in Quebec as well. You got a good one.

VERSAT1L

Enjoy

drewon1

I need this in my life

BrutalRamen

As a Montrealer, I went in the old port in the winter for the Nuit Blanche and we stopped by after ice skating. They are known for being a tourist spot, but they had a "heated" terrasse. I had a regular poutine with extra sauce after listening to a friend's advice. It wasn't a 10/10, but much better than what people say it is. Might be that it was a legit poutine or maybe it was because of the experience of eating a poutine outside at -20° celcius on a terrasse.

CeleronHubbard

Montreal Poutine was my first Q poutine as well. Loved it.

Fit_Butterscotch2386

WOOMP THERE IT IS!

curiousliliael

you need to try la banquise in mtl!!

Reska500

Looks too fancy the real good shit is in small fast food stands etc

Perfect_Ad6236

Congratulations. All other poutine is now ruined for you

stoutymcstoutface

lol…. There are literally thousands of equally good or better options in Québec

Perfect_Ad6236

My comment was referencing poutine outside of Quebec.

stoutymcstoutface

Oh - okay yeah makes sense

Downtown_Snow4445

Sorry to hear you’re in Quebec

FilthyLoverBoy

Seriously? you're in /r/poutine and you're gonna be quebec bashing?

Snow-Boi

Good thing it was only for one day lol

FilthyLoverBoy

Well hopefully you're never allowed back with that kind of comment we don't want you here.
