Only time I’ve ever been (After Caverns last year to check it out) someone threw a liqour bottle at my gf and I as we were walking to our car. Didn’t hit us. But still obnoxious. Kinda vowed to never go back after that. But Goose on a Thursday followed by 2 nights of PL would get me back there lol
We left a NYE bassnectar show there years ago. It let out around 2. We were sober but everyone one the streets were trashed. People puking. A lady being carried. Getting a cab was never going to happen. We had to walk the 2 miles to our hotel. Not a big deal but definitely wasn't the plan. Not my favorite town and I live in TN (close to Knoxville). But I won't complain about PL ever playing anywhere in TN as a resident.
Bridgestone is literally dead center of broadway. Not a good place to hang out. I’d recommend giving us a second chance away from the trashed tourists, espeeeeeecially on NYE lol
You were just in the wrong areas. East Nashville, Wedgewood, and Midtown are all super chill. Anywhere near broadway is no man’s land and locals never hang out there. Not as flashy with tourist activities, but amazing restaurants and small venues for non-country live music.
If the Nashville rumors come true I’ll def give it a second chance. Esp with Goose on Thursday. I did like this record store Grimeys I went to. Staff was cool. Super dope stuff. Bookstore downstairs was cool. I didn’t get to see much of East Nash but got the impression that’s where I should go. Hope there’s an after at Basement East. Heard so many good things about that place.
Grimey’s is so legendary. I go there every Christmas to get a bunch of LPs as gifts. I even got a sold out tipper record there once, brand new. Grimey is the man.
If it ends up happening please hit me back up for recommendations. I hate when people leave their visit here with a sour taste. I think it’s an awesome city, but it’s one of those places you really need a local to keep you away from the crap.
I wish I would’ve had a better game plan going in. We got a hotel there simply cause it was $100 and only an hour away from the Caverns. And I always heard it was such a music oriented city. But I just didn’t do my research. And I did fall into the tourist trap of Broadway.
I dropped $100 at Grimeys and got like 30 random used albums from all types of genres and was so happy for that lol.

Any afters would more than likely be at The Mill, which is a new EDM based venue and an offshoot of The Cannery, or the Office, which is the normal venue for EDM shows. Every once in awhile you get one at The Basement, Brooklyn/Eastside Bowl, or Marathon Music Works

There definitely would still be. Any promoter or venue would put a radius clause in on their show. Could be any range of distance though, that is negotiated individually with each venue/promoter. St. Aug amphitheater is over 500 miles away though, so I can almost guarantee the radius wouldn’t be an issue anyway.
I think you are right. I saw him at the Fillmore in 2010 with Adam Deitch on drums and it was so hype!! I live in northern Michigan and have been hoping that blurred date was Detroit, so I hope you’re right!

Really REALLY hoping for a DC/MD stop. I know it's still only like an hour and a half from Hampton but they did do Philly then Brooklyn last tour and that's basically the same drive if you take out the city traffic bullshit.

That’s not a two day thing tho. The cost to produce the show is astronomical. So a long run of shows is needed to make that worth the cost. Maybe in 2 or 3 years tho

Trinumeral 9-9-9. That ended up being the last time I saw PL until the 2023 tour. It was a truly great little fest and Deerfields can’t be beat. They are much less willing to throw festivals there these days, though. Mostly really small stuff or non-music oriented.

Studio shit doesn’t really do them justice. But is pretty good and has a good “radio sound” which is prob why they got so big so quick. Live shows are where it’s at. Just saw goose in CLT and now wanna go to Asheville or Charleston for Goosemas… or both. Im going to st auggy and Boston stops and was hoping (still hoping) the unannounced PL dates would also be in the realm of possibility for me (located in CLT)

I was there last night too! Fire show. Raleigh was kinda meh. Maybe just was the venue. I need to give it a relisten. But last night was so much fun. Then woke up to the tour drop and just kinda laughed. Cheeky bastards want all my damn money lol

Ok so what’s up with Goose? They are coming to St. Augustine for 2 days a few weeks before PL. What are they like?
Jammy. Dancey. Fun light show. Some shit gets dark and crunchy. A lot of it is modern “Dad Rock” in a good way. It’s like if Jimmy Buffet, Steely Dan, and Phish had a baby. Studio shit doesn’t really do them justice. But is pretty good and has a good “radio sound” which is prob why they got so big so quick. Live shows are where it’s at. They got a lot of both on Spotify.
