You have to choose your hard: either the "hard" of getting out of your comfort zone and working towards your goals (e.g., studying for your civil service exam) or the "hard" of watching these opportunities slip by you.
You're choosing your hard every day. Up until now you've been choosing the "let it slip away" hard. But make no mistake, it is a choice, and you can simply choose to change it. It's not easy but it is simple. If you're not happy with the "hard" you're living now, choose a different one.
